GENRE: Romantic Suspense
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
Nothing comes between Tori Whitlock and her tornado chase season -- not a serial killer, not even the hot FBI agent who’s vowed to save her life. But Detective Jack Mathis plays tough. Ending this case isn’t just his job, it’s his mission. And he finally has the advantage.
He faces Tori’s hostility and objections head-on, interjecting himself into every aspect of her life, and leaving him no time to dwell on his own.
Through the twists and turns of the madman’s game, Tori is forced to adapt to her unwelcome circumstances. Still, she fights Jack's presence, and her attraction to him, as he tries to open doors better left closed.
For Tori and Jack, life and death decisions are part of their jobs. But, can they overcome their pasts and realize that there’s a difference between life and living?
Excerpt Two:
“What the hell makes you think you can just walk in and turn my life sideways, kiss me like we kissed last night, then act like nothing in the world has changed?”
He’d started to turn away, then came back, nostrils flared a mere inch from her face, forcing her against the computer table. She didn’t fear him, but if the vein ticking in his neck was any indication, she probably should have.
“Everything in the world has changed.” His deep voice was quiet, restrained. “It changed for you the day that email showed up in your inbox. You didn’t ask for that. I get it. But that doesn’t change the facts.”
She opened her mouth to interrupt but he was on a roll.
“This is exactly why I’ve done everything short of castration to try to keep my hands off of you. You think I’m immune to whatever this is? You think I don’t lie out here at night torturing myself with the knowledge that you’re thirty feet away from me, warm in your bed? Well, think again. Some nights, that’s all I think about.
“But having sex with you would complicate everything. Hell, that kiss turned my brain to mush. You intrigue me, fascinate me, draw me in ways I haven’t felt in a long, long time. I want time to know you. The real you. I won’t risk your life by getting sloppy. You can get angry with me all you want, but I’d rather have you alive and pissed off than dead on my watch.”
AUTHOR Bio and Links:
Michelle Grey is an avid lover of books, and had always thought that someday she would take up her pen and write romantic suspense. In 2009, Michelle was diagnosed with a rare form of ovarian cancer, and she realized that “somedays” aren’t guaranteed. This life changing event motivated Michelle to pursue her dream of becoming an author.
In January of 2013, Michelle released her debut novel, Dangerous Ally.
In September of 2013, the next book in her Long Shot Series, Unspoken Bonds, was published.
Now a cancer survivor, Michelle decided to use her platform to promote awareness of ovarian cancer and its symptoms. In January 2014 she published, Are You Listening: A Personal Journal of an Ovarian Cancer Survivor.
Because it is so important to spread the word, one hundred percent of the proceeds from this $.99 ebook go directly to the Vicki Welsh Ovarian Cancer Fund to support their mission of fighting ovarian cancer through awareness, education, research and support.
Michelle lives in the Midwestern US with her husband of twenty-eight years and has four amazing and unique children, a wonderful son-in-law, and two beautiful granddaughters. Michelle believes that any day that involves family, writing, or reading is a great day, indeed.
Interview With Michelle Grey
Where does most of your Character inspiration come from? Wow – you name it. Tori, my heroine in Convergence, came loosely from watching Reed Timmer on storm chaser shows. Other characteristics come from people I work and live with. Usually, it’s a single thing – a quirk, a personality trait, a saying – then the character blossoms from there.
What is your favorite spot to write? Lately, it’s been so nice here in the Midwestern US, that I’ve enjoyed writing outside. But since we can’t always count on the weather being friendly, I also have an office in my home that is my go-to place. It’s Paris-themed and never fails to put me in the right mood to write.
What advice would you give budding writers? First of all, get words on the page. Don’t worry about them being perfect, or even good when you’re getting started. Secondly, I would encourage anyone seriously interested in a writing career to get into a local writers group and listen and learn from the professionals.
Interview With Michelle Grey
As a kid did you write or make up stories?
I did! First it was poems in elementary school, then yearbook in junior high, and newspaper staff then editor in high school. I’ve always enjoyed telling stories, but fiction has always been my favorite.
