Stranded on Vail Mountain By: Desiree L. Scott

When Joan decides to take her husband Micheal in a vacation to try and save her marriage, Things go anything but right. Her best friend shows up at the resort, then Joan catchers her husband and friend together in a compromising position. Broken hearted she ends up lost on Vail Mountain in a blizzard.

Scott is a Mountain Ranger wants nothing more then to climb in bed and sleep until the blizzard passes when he gets the call of a woman lost on the mountain. When he finds and rescues Joan from her present predicament, he must save them both from the blizzard.

Neither are looking for love but sometimes your heart makes the decision for you.

Desiree L. Scott does a great job with this short book.  It is a clean romance, no steamy sex, with just some language, but not a whole lot.

The book is only 2 hours 20 minutes long, but is jam packed and fast paced. Charley Fae does an amazing job with the narration, each character has a clear voice, and the narration parts are filled with emotion.

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Dream Cast
By Author Chantal Gadoury

  • Lena - Gemma Arterton
    • When I first saw Gemma in Tess of D’Urbervilles, she was everything I imagined my character, Lena, a merrow turned human, to be.
  • Soren Emil - Matt Smith
    • Soren holds a special place in my heart from a time before I started officially writing “Between the Sea and Stars.” I’ve always associated his character looking like Matt Smith, which is why I’d cast him as such.
  • Jace Wyatt - Aaron Taylor-Johnson
    • I’ve been inspired by Aaron Taylor-Johnson since the first time I saw him in “Anna Karenina.” When I started to look for someone who reminded me of Jim Hawkins (the real inspiration behind Jace Wyatt) I saw Aaron played a role in a movie called Albert Nobbs. At that moment, I knew I had found the right choice of a “face character” and movie cast for Jace.
  • Edwin Wyatt - Max Von Sydow
    • Edwin was a character I had planned to have in the story of “Between the Sea and Stars,” but suddenly he appeared, and became a character that I fell in love instantly. He is the sweetest of men, and so wise. When I started to look for a face that could envelope everything about Edwin, it was hard. I had been torn between Richard Harris, and Sir Ian McKellen, but when I saw Max Von Sydow, in this photo - I really felt like I had found the face of Edwin perfectly.
  • Asger - Rohit Khandelwal
    • I knew as I was writing Asger, I was trying to bring in more diverse of characters - different skin colors, tail colors, - just different from Lena and the characters that I was already planning on land. And I really loved just how different Asger became. I found the photo of Rohit as I was trying to figure out Asger, and what he’d look like - he was an inspiration right from the beginning.
  • Lord Jarl - Jeremy Irons
    • I went through a huge phase of watching “The Borgias” right before I had written “Between the Sea and Stars,” and kinda just loved Jeremy Irons as an actor. I know he could play evil - and well. And I know he’d adapt the character Lord Jarl perfectly.

Everything's Better with Kimberly by Lucy Eden

Title: Everything's Better with Kimberly
Author: Lucy Eden
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: January 31, 2019

Blurb

Kimberly Simmons is
gorgeous, brilliant, and way out of my league. She’s definitely not the type to
fall for a guy who walked away from his family's fortune to become an
architect. Good thing, too, because she works for Wolfe Industries, making her
completely off-limits. Nailing this pitch to Wolfe’s CEO is exactly what I need
to make my bosses forget about the last time I mixed business with pleasure.
Too bad she has the most beautiful brown eyes and dazzling smile I’ve ever
seen. Too bad I can’t stop staring.

Adam Price is a
talented rising star architect at Will and Peking Designs. His newest design
submission for The Wolfe Industries Caribbean Expansion is set to dazzle my
CEO. If Adam's design wins, with my help, I could get promoted, which means
his big strong arms and gorgeous lips are strictly forbidden. It’s a good
thing, too, because he has a reputation for leaving a trail of broken hearts
all over Manhattan and I’m pretty sure I couldn't survive a second heartbreak.
Too bad every word he says makes me smile. Too bad he gives me a sense of calm
I haven't felt in a long time.

Keeping their
relationship strictly professional for the sake of their jobs was the perfect
excuse to stay away from each other. Too bad fate and undeniable chemistry have
other plans…

This standalone,
workplace/forced proximity romance features characters from the previous
novellas Everything’s Better With You and Cherishing the Goddess, is full of
alphas and steam, and has NO cheating.

“I’m sorry to interrupt you, but are you Adam Price?” It was
his turn to be shocked and he smiled again.
“I am. How did you know that?”
The Man-Whore. I was sitting next to the Man-Whore.
Just a guess.” I shrugged.
“Well, I assume from your sudden change of expression, my
reputation precedes me.”
My poker face needed some serious work. I tried to plaster
on a professional smile. “You studied architecture at The Pratt Institute for
both undergrad and grad school. You’ve worked on an impressive number of
international projects before becoming the youngest senior architect at Will
and Peking Design. Now, you’re on your way to Barbados to pitch WP for a
hospitality project for Wolfe Industries.”
“That’s pretty impressive and spot on.” He nodded
appreciatively. “Who are you?”
“Thanks,” I said with a nod, feeling like I’d dodged a very
uncomfortable bullet. “I’m Kimberly Simmons. I work for Wolfe. I’ll be working
with you on the pitch.”

“Are you sure?” Because she isn’t acting like it.
“Yeah, this will solve the questioning.” That doesn’t sound
so great.
I rock back on my heels. “About?”
Splotches of red stain her cheeks. “Ah, well... if this,”
she motions between us, “was heading in a romantic direction.”
I feel the blood drain from my face. “What do you mean?”
“If we’re living together, the potential of us dating is
zippo. We’ll be roommates and friends, but that’s all. Otherwise it will be
awkward and tense and blah. No, thanks. Setting this boundary will cut out the
possibility.”
I choke on the brick lodged in my throat. “Wait, what?”
“Can you imagine the mess we’d be stuck in if things went
sour? Better to not chance it, right?”
No.
No, no, no.
I blink slowly, trying to process her words. Is this an
unwritten rule I wasn’t aware of? And what, now I’m trapped in the friend-zone?
I avert my eyes, glaring at a neon sign stuck to the far wall. An outcome that
doesn’t involve us as a couple seems impossible. I rapidly search for a
counter-argument, begging for a way out of this mess.
What the hell happens now?
