This is a pretty nice thermometer, It comes ready to use, it already has the batteries installed. It comes with the Thermometer that is about 5 x 3 inches, it is made of plastic. It has a about 7 inch probe on a 36 inch braided stainless steel cable. The probe can be left in the meet while cooking with the cable strung out through the oven door and either left plugged into the thermometer case or left unplugged and looped around the oven door handle. I choose to leave it connected. There are 2 magnets on the back of the plastic casing and sticks very nicely to the oven door or the stove top. I choose the door that way I don't have to worry about the cord getting in the way or being ripped from the meat. It has meat presets, 4 levels of taste settings, and has 3 alarm settings.
I baked a whole chicken with stuffing and the thermometer worked great. The chicken was not over or under cooked, This will also work with a crock pot and grill.
