BLURB:
The fireworks are about to begin as the sexual adventure of Rachel and Burt Markham continues. Small business owners and happily married couple of 20+ years, they live in the small town of Four Corners, Kansas. The year before, with the permission and encouragement of her husband, Rachel had the freedom to explore the depth of her sensuality through having her first Bull. After saying farewell to her Bull, Rachel and Burt settle back into the routine of small town life. Then, African-American frustrated artist and new fireworks territory sales manager Horus Grant arrives in Four Corners. He is searching for new sales territory for the Missouri-based company and wants to open a fireworks stand next to Rachel and Burt’s seed and feed store. Outwardly friendly and personable, he is plagued by hidden demons. Though based in near-by Wichita, Horus finds himself returning to Four Corners again and again, and not because of the fireworks stand. Rachel is also drawn to him and soon realizes she may hold the key to Horus’s slim chance of defeating his demons, of healing, and learning to live again.

EXCERPTS (Exclusive Excerpt):
A week later on Saturday morning, May 3rd, Burt, bare chested and barefoot, was in the kitchen carefully lifting a heavily laden breakfast tray off the kitchen counter. A large plate overflowing with a cheese omelet with all of the trimmings, a pair of well-buttered biscuits and hash browns, shared the tray with a pair of champagne flutes and a single red rose in crystal stemware. It was a slow, carefully balanced journey out of the brick-floor kitchen, across the living room, and down the hall to the master bedroom. The family dog, Maggie the Irish Setter, followed, hungrily sniffing the air.
The large, rumpled California King bed was empty. Soft classical music drifted through the dim room.
Burt stood in the doorway a moment before Rachel emerged from the bathroom in all of her naked glory. Her mature figure, still a little fleshier than in her youth in spite of her dieting and exercise regimen, was as beautiful as ever. She was speechless for a moment, then a huge smile appeared.
“Happy birthday,” Burt grinned, treading ever so carefully to the bed where she slid under the covers in a sitting position, pillows behind her back.
“Thank you!” She smelled the rose, then kissed him. Passionately. “Where’s your breakfast?”
“In the kitchen. Be right back.”
He returned with a TV tray stand and plate, and pushed the leather recliner up next to the bed.
“This is wonderful! Thank you!”
“Happy 44th birthday.” They clinked the champagne flutes together…

ReplyDeleteHello! Sorry for running late - unfortunately, life sometimes has a way of getting in the way of things. First, I want to say thank you for hosting this stop - I appreciate the opportunity. And to everyone who visited, thank you. In response to the question from Joseph, when I used to read fiction, there was no favorite genre, so to speak. I liked military fiction, horror, science fiction, and fantasy. Anyway, thank you everyone, and have a great week!
