BLURB:
Neither Rex nor Regina wants a spouse, but they do have needs.
Ranger Rex Duncan needs a false identity—just long enough to uncover a ring of Kansas ranch thieves. Answering Regina’s ad for a temporary husband, he leaves his beloved red dirt of Oklahoma to assume that disguise. But the most obstinate woman he’s ever known confounds his assignment, and with hair the red color that has always made his heart beat a little faster.
Regina Howard needs a new Mrs. in front of her name—just long enough to reclaim her deceased husband’s ranch, since Kansas law won’t allow women to own property. When Rex answers her ad for a husband who can take orders as part of a brief business arrangement, she finds this stubborn man ignores her every command. Yet a good man is far more than just a name…

EXCERPTS (Exclusive Excerpt):
I turned and ran the rest of the way to the pecan grove where my horse was tied—black as the night itself, but he and I always knew where the other was. Our trip to Kansas was going to be much faster than five days. Fast enough for me to disappear in case
Luke thought it was me he saw. Fast enough to get done and get back as quick as I could. I gripped the reins, and once I hit the saddle I turned my horse toward what was left of the family home. “I’ll settle with you when I get back, Mr. Morrissey. You’ll pay for every tear my brother is spilling right now, and all the heartache you’ve caused my pop.” I tapped my horse’s sides with my heels and spun him hard to the left, leaving the blazing ranch behind. “And I’ll marry you, Mrs. Howard of Liberal, Kansas. But I sure don’t want to.”

DeleteGood morning! And thank you for sharing The Lady's Arrangement! Sending characters off into the world is like watching your children leave home...sort of. You love them because you've toiled over them, but how will they fare out there on their own? For those who let Rex and Regina into their lives, I hope their predicaments and stubbornness bring smiles. Happy reading to all of the readers out there!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Edgar, And good luck!
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure!

ReplyDeleteI have floated from one to another - Tudor period fiction, a long trek through the classics, old theatre plays, and now I'm on a mystery binge. These periods of different types lasted years, not just months. Thank you for the question! And good luck!
