BLURB:
Aster Worthington spearheads the First Contact Team who are unraveling a message from an alien race. The altruistic extraterrestrials promise free energy and an excited Earth builds a massive structure called the Dome to house the alien enterprise
Seven years later, no "free energy" and strange things are reported in and around the Dome. When Aster and her colleagues mount an expedition to investigate the interior, they are shocked to find it filled with humanoids having insect-like deformities. It becomes obvious their true purpose is to take over our planet. Now Aster and the scientists are trying to come up with a defense to fend off the invasion. A defense that is tied to a 2000 year old document hidden by the church. But, will it be too late?

Excerpt Two:
The Locusts
Dozens of the strange locusts had descended on the marine nearest her. Gun dropped, with arms, torso, and legs covered with the little creatures, his hands were frantically brushing off the locust-like creatures, but more and more took their place. Some had purchased holds on his hands, their small heads stubbornly attached like ticks on dog while their bodies bounced up and down with soldier’s panicky movements. More and more landed on his face and he started to run wildly, screaming all the while.
One of her earliest memories from childhood was her grandmother, a farmer’s wife, chopping off a chicken’s head. Headless, the poor bird ran in one direction, then another, somehow keeping its balance. After too many horrible seconds, the poor chicken fell to the ground, twitching. The man’s aimless running reminded her of the chicken running, not knowing it was already dead.
The man screamed again, fell to his knees and ripped his shirt open. The locust must have burrowed through his clothes because they now covered his entire chest. With each locust plucked away, a red wound appeared. She watched in horror as the man fell to his knees first, his arms by his side. Then he collapsed, face first, to the floor.
She pulled her eyes from the soldier only to witness other soldiers swatting at the locust or brushing them off their clothes, all experiencing the same horror. Some held tight to their guns while they tried to wipe the locusts off their uniforms. Others had discarded their weapons and employed both hands in ridding themselves of the vile little creatures. Small bumps of cloth rippled along their shirts and pants, giving the impression the uniforms were alive. There were more and more screams.

Interview with Robert Sells
1. Do your characters seem to hijack the story or do you feel like you have the reins of the story?
1. Do your characters seem to hijack the story or do you feel like you have the reins of the story?
The skeleton of a story is structured in my mind before I start to write. Main characters are imbued with specific strengths and weaknesses. I write the entire story in the matter of a few days. However, it takes dozens of rewrites to get it “right”. During those return trips to my make-believe world, the characters assert themselves in unforeseen ways. Aster Worthington, the main character, is described as “bright, beautiful and blond”. She suffered through a terrible childhood, but came out strong. Maybe too strong. As the story progressed, she took on another b-word… bitchy. Oh, she could be cuddily and cute, but sometimes she would just slice and dice with her words. I had a hard time writing that negative part of her personality. Fortunately, she wrote it for me.
2. Convince us why you feel your book is a must read.
It’s real science fiction. Spaceships zipping around with space cowboys is simply not ever going to happen. But this book shows how we would interact with alien species. It also show how there could be an invasion if we aren’t careful. So, read this science fiction because it’s real. Also, a great adventure story but on earth. The exterior of the Dome is constructed by humans. The interior is essentially constructed by an alien intelligence, over 12 square miles in area. Inside that alien arena is where the adventure takes place.
3. Have you written any other books that are not published?
I’m working on a fifth book, Rebecca’s Romances. A high school student is traumatized when her best friend is savagely murdered right after the prom. She leaves her hometown to go to college and doesn’t return for twelve years. When she does, an identical murder occurs. After a bit of investigation, she knows there are three suspects, all in law enforcement, all romantically entangled with her. It’s a murder-romance (if such a subset exists).
4. Pen or type writer or computer?
My gosh. Does anyone still use a typewriter?
5. Anything you would like to say to your readers and fans?
Just a rule of thumb. Give a book at least 50 pages of reading before you decide whether to invest time reading it. There’s a mystery brewing, a romance reluctantly growing, a great adventure story about a third of the way in, and some really scary science fiction scenes as you progress to the end.

ReplyDeleteI love your books, and this looks just as amazing.. Thank you for posting!!
ReplyDeleteWhich character was your favorite to write?
ReplyDeleteMy favorite was Aster Worthington. She is described as "bright, blonde, and beautiful", but she suffered a troubled childhood. As a result, she is wary of men and, when pressed, she became combative... some might say "bitchy" should be added to the other three b-words. She goes through hell and pretty much has a break down. One of those men she so detested, verbally slaps her back into her role as a leader. She then starts to trust this guy and one thing leads to another...
DeleteSounds good, nice cover.
ReplyDeleteOnce in a blue moon I'll use a typewriter...
