NBtM Tour: Regenerate by Sarita Leone

Regenerate
by Sarita Leone

GENRE: Paranormal Romantic Suspense

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
The Octopus isn't an urban myth—and its agents are anything but ordinary. The intelligence bureau is so well-hidden most doubt its existence. A handful know its location. And fewer walk the halls in the subterranean compound.
Benjamin Sinclair didn't ask to be a scientific miracle but every mission has its risks and one perfectly-placed bullet ended his life—for a brief moment in time.
Nicole Anima battles demons every day. Life as a paranormal resources operative gives her tortured mind a rest—and keeps her from contemplating her own death.
When Anima and Sinclair partner on a globe-trotting race to eliminate the threat about to cripple humanity, all hell breaks loose. Leaping from planes, crashing into continents, dealing with voodoo priestesses, and running through jungles with zombies hot on their trail doesn't leave much time for romance, but this duo somehow manages to sizzle.
Two agents. Telepathic mind paired with regenerated commando. One world—and a mission to save it.
EXCERPT TWO:
Nicole ripped the iPod off her bra strap and tossed it, ear buds trailing like streamers from a small black kite, toward the sand beyond the boardwalk.
An ordinary man never would have heard the music playing. He never would have been able to hear the beating of her heart, either. But Ben Sinclair was no ordinary man. He heard both, and now that she remembered the important details of his life she wouldn’t forget them again.
“I can still hear old Mick jiving.”
The near-whisper sent a fresh wave of revulsion along every nerve ending.
“I can hear him. I can give you that satisfaction you need.”
“You don’t know what I need.” The words were hoarse. It was a miracle she could speak at all, given the tightness of her throat. “You have no idea.”
“Give me a chance to show you what I know. I promise, you won’t be sorry.”
“I’m already sorry. I’m sorry you know my name. Sorry you have my number. Sorry you’re even on this planet. Sorry? It’s just the tip of how I feel when I remember you walk among humanity.”
Silence. For one long moment, she thought she might have conquered the spider.
Then, the truth.
“You didn’t always treat me like this. There was a time when—”
“That was before I knew what you are, before I had any idea evil hides under…” She couldn’t finish. Wouldn’t finish. There was no way in hell she was going to admit his looks ever turned her on.
Worse. That he had stolen her heart. And, still held it—despite her attempts at retrieval.
Damn treacherous heart.
AUTHOR Bio and Links:
Sarita Leone is an award-winning author who has written romance in many forms including Regency, paranormal, and contemporary. She loves happily-ever-afters in any setting!
When she’s not writing, Ms. Leone spends her time hiking, learning languages, and traveling. She loves adventure and can pack a suitcase, grab her passport, and hit the road in less time than it takes to peel an apple!
Interview with Sarita Leone
Where do you get inspiration for your stories? Where do I get inspiration for my stories? Honestly, I find inspiration in so many places and each bit prods the author’s imagination into overdrive. A snippet of conversation in an airport, a breathtaking sunrise, or some dusty, old brooch in an antique shop all inspire me. History, people, the endless “what if”s that are an author’s best friends all get my mind working. My latest book, REGENERATE, is inspired by stem cell research and the life-saving applications it makes possible.
How did you do research for your book? There was a great deal of research that went into writing REGENERATE. Personal experience gave me insight into stem cell study and transplant. One of the agents, Benjamin Sinclair, who works for the super-covert government agency, The Octopus, has been regenerated. That is, using stem cells he has been brought back from the dead, making him the world’s first invincible, immortal superagent. So that knowledge was the impetus for this story.
Given the fact that Sinclair and his partner, a beautiful, if somewhat tortured psychic named Nicole Anima, are assigned to thwart an effort to tumble the global economy and continent hop at a dizzying speed, a lot of my research included geographical and cultural topics. I was able to send them to a few places I’ve visited so I drew on my own knowledge to write about Paris and the French countryside but writing this book allowed me to vicariously visit Africa, Belgium, Venezuela, and a few other intriguing spots!
Also, because they are agents for the government, I did some checking on tactical and weaponry issues. Fortunately, I’ve got three ex-Marines in my life and each was eager to help.
Do you have another profession besides writing? I consider myself very lucky because I always dreamed of being a full-time author and that’s exactly how it’s turned out. I love my job, love sitting at my desk each morning and opening the current work in progress file. It’s a blessing, to do a job that makes your heart so happy!
If you could go back in time, where would you go? If I could go back in time, where would I go? Wow, that’s a tough question! Choose only one time and place? That’s like setting me loose in a bakery and saying I can only taste one cookie! Well, I think I’d go back to ancient Egypt. Those pyramids…I’d love to see for myself just how they were constructed. And while I was there, I’d have to take a ride down the Nile…
What is your next project? My next project is FALLEN, the first book in a series about fallen angels who return to earth to save mortals from losing their souls. This first book takes place in Paris—or, more precisely, in the catacombs beneath the city and features a sexy angel named Jacques. He’s fallen for a mortal woman, something that’s never happened before, so his assignment leaves him with some very difficult decisions. I like pushing characters to their limits, giving them challenges that force them to grow, and I’m not sparing Jacques or the Parisian woman, Sabine, from some angst. It releases in time for summer reading.
Additionally, the sequel to REGENERATE is in the works. This book is, like the first, a labor of love. Anima and Sinclair are once again defying the odds and following The Octopus credo…One world—and a mission to save it! The second Octopus novel releases in December 2017.
Thank you so much for allowing me to visit with you today. It’s been so much fun!
