I use mostly iron skillets for cooking and well the handles get extremely hot on them. So I have to use a towel or hot pad, and I am not crazy about that next to the fire I have a gas stove. I can't tell you how many times I have caught the towel or hot pad on fire. This works great for holding the pan handles while cooking. It is not so great for picking the pan up though. If it was a slip on type maybe it would be better, instead the one side is open and I cannot get a grip on the pan handle without it slipping and the handle touching my finger.
