Book Blast for Drop Dead Handsome by M.K. Scott

Drop Dead Handsome
by M.K. Scott

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE: Cozy Mystery
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

The Painted Lady Inn is open for business and limping along in the B and B world. A high school reunion package assembles Donna’s least desirable classmates, including the backstabbing cheerleader, her narcissistic high school crush, and Arnie, whose cheesy poem had everyone calling her, hot mama. It’s all something she liked to forget. These are the normal guests.

An octogenarian self-proclaimed sleuth, Father Christmas, a dognapping couple, and a pair who is copying everything in the Inn to set up their own competitive establishment rounds out the group. Maria, the sister-in-law, has a matchmaking agenda for Donna. Daniel, her brother, finds himself serving as a referee with one guest’s multiple wives.

High school reunions can be murder. Detective Mark Taber is on the trail of the murderer, when he isn’t interfering in a smitten Arnie’s determined bid to woo the no nonsense innkeeper.

Excerpt Four:

Arnie stepped into the room, threw his suitcase on the bed, while still cradling the basket. He slowly turned around taking in the entire room. “Not bad. Actually, it’s pretty nice.”

At last, someone who appreciated the effort she had put into the room. Her shoulders went back. Maybe she’d been too hard on Arnie.

For a chick’s room.”

Chick’s room, really? “Why do you think it’s a chick’s room?” She liked to think all her rooms were appropriate for any gender.

Arnie placed the basket on the drum table with the floral light. “Hmm, the ruffles, the flowers, the room smells like perfume.”

Yeah, hers.

He walked over to the rocker and picked up the romance novel she’d been reading. He brandished the book. “No self-respecting man would be caught reading this drivel. Mindless nonsense.”

His remark stopped her from asking for her book back. The best she could do would be to sneak back in and snatch it while cleaning. “It might do you some good to read it. Shouldn’t judge something you’ve never taken the time to read.”

Well, she’d gone and blown her excellent innkeeper behavior. “I dare you to read it.”

He blinked once, and then smiled. “Challenge accepted.”

AUTHOR Bio and Links:

M. K. Scott is the husband and wife writing team behind The Painted Lady Inn Mysteries. Morgan K Wyatt is the general wordsmith, while her husband, Scott, is the grammar hammer and physics specialist. He uses his engineering skills to explain how fast a body falls when pushed over a cliff and various other felonious activities. Morgan’s daughter who manages a hotel provides guest horror stories to fuel the plot lines. The couple’s dog, Chance, is the inspiration behind Jasper, Donna’s dog. Summary
from Goodreads:
"The Mermaid
and the treasure of the Bay" is the first adventure of Brinn, a young
woman who had recently returned to her homeland, Nyar Kaad, after years of
being away.

For her mother and sister it’s only supposed to be an episodic stay, because
their intention is to return to the capital, Adaria, held by both aristocrats,
by then, to be their home. Brinn, however, isn’t interested in living in the
golden cage of high society and aspires to a different existence, that will
push her to oppose the decisions of her family and to pursue a destiny
according to her own wishes.

The accidental discovery of what looks like a map to hidden treasure, buried in
Nyar Kaad, according to tradition, by pirates once dwelling in the settlement,
will push her to search for the hidden riches- an undertaking that the
protagonist will face courageously, at the cost of challenging her fears, the
rigid social conventions, and more literal dangers to her person, venturing on
a journey into the local legends and the past of her own family, until reaching
an unexpected epilogue.

Set to Isara, a fantasy world inspired by the period between the seventeenth
and the first decades of the nineteenth centuries, "The Mermaid and the
treasure of the Bay" is a journey full of mystery in the universe where
real and supernatural coexist intersecting in a subtle and insidious way, a
world divided between palaces and largely unexplored expanses, an opulent
capital and boundless oceans.

Excerpt:
My life was far from perfect, I had an unusual character and my nature wasn't easily adaptable to the life that ought to have been lead by someone of our status that was forced to aspire to court, but for years I had been able to carve out my happiness. Even though I wasn't particularly interested in the  girls  my  age  that  talked  about  future  boyfriends,  parties  and  dresses,  I  could  always  close  my eyes  and  imagine  that  I  was  in  one  of  those  far  away  places  that  I  was  so  fascinated  by  and  that I had read about so often in books. Despite  the  many  remote  places  that  I  had  learned  about the  existence  of  by  reading,  the  most precious continued always to be Nyar Kaad. My thoughts inevitably went to the aquamarine ocean waves on the shores where I was born.

Beaumont Kitchenware Top Rated Collapsible Colander

I love to cook and I cook a lot. I have a ton of kitchen gadgets and they all seem to take up a lot of room. I actually have 3 colanders in various sizes, that I do use. Well let me say I had 3 I will be replacing all 3 with this one collapsible colander. It takes up less room then even my smallest colander. It can be folded out to make the different sizes I was using all in one colander. It folds down to about 1 inch thick my others were all at least 4 inches thick and had to be stacked together in the pantry.

 This colander is made of food grade heat safe silicone and stainless steel. The silicone part is heat resistant up to 425 degree. The stainless steel means it will never rust.

It will hold up to 3 quarts. Great for veggies, pastas, and anything else you need strained.  The straining holes are a good size but not so big that a lot of pasta with fall through and be wasted. This is dishwasher safe but is just as easy to hand wash with the silicone it is non stick.

ThermoPro TP07 Remote Wireless Digital Kitchen Cooking Food Meat Thermometer

I was thrilled to run across this Remote Wireless Digital Kitchen Thermometer. I love to cook and I cook from scratch as well. I do a lot of meals where the meat is baked, and at the holidays we always make the meats for a family of about 30 people. With this remote wireless thermometer I am no longer stuck in one place while cooking. I can be where ever I want and not have to worry about running to the kitchen to keep checking on my meat. I also do not have to keep opening the oven, sticking a thermometer in, waiting for it to do its thing and letting all the heat out of my oven.

The 6 1/2 inch probe goes in when the meat goes in. It is on a heatproof wire that is attached to the smaller thermometer box that sets on the counter or hooks over the oven door handle. The larger receiver goes with me where ever I want to be, it has a stand to set on a table or a belt clip if I am moving around. I can be within 300 feet of my oven and know when my meat is done.

The thermometer has pre-set temps even all I have to do is choose the type of meat I am cooking and how done I want it and let it got, it will beep to let me know when it is at temp. The screen also tells me when it is getting close to be done. The screen is a grey with black writing until it gets close. Within 10 degrees it turns blue, when it is within 15 degrees of set temp it turns green, when it is at set temp it turns red.

This can also be used as a timer. Which can be set to count up or count down and also has an alarm.

I am kind of excited for the next turkey or ham I cook for a family get together.

Ohuhu 7 Colors LED Flashing Finger Lighting Gloves for Light Show

Really cool set of gloves. The fingers light up and in different modes. There are red, green and blue lights on each glove. Some of the modes include: steady on, single color, and a chasing almost strobe effect. The gloves can be run on the same mode or on different modes from each other since they are separate. Each glove runs on two CR2016 batteries that are included and can be replaced by 2 CR2016 or 1 CR2032 battery. The battery compartment is in a small velcroed pocket at the wrist of each glove.

These are more adult sized but could be included in a child's Halloween costume, or used by adults during halloween. They are great at concerts, parties, and any type of outing. See my video to see the different light modes in action.

I am giving this 4 stars because the green lights on one of the gloves do not work.
