Interview with Sunayna Prasad

Where do you get inspiration for your stories?

The “Harry Potter” series heavily influenced the content in my “Magical Missions” series. For “A Curse of Mayhem”, the movies, “ParaNorman” and “Frozen” gave me a ton of inspiration, as well.

Your book is set in a Chicago suburb. Have you ever been there?

I have been to Chicago once for a weekend, but never the suburbs. But I feel it’s more exciting to set my books in places I’ve never been, even though that means having to do a lot more research.

How long have you been writing?

I’ve been writing stories since age 6, but writing seriously since age 18.

Where do you write?

Usually at home, although I do enjoy writing in cafés and libraries. However, at this time, home is the only option. But I do write in different rooms to change my surrounding.

If you could go back in time, where would you go?

My 7th birthday. Something upsetting happened then and was never resolved. I would want to fix that big problem.
