Sarah lay in bed. She had just started reading The Girl with the Silver Eyes by Willo Davis Roberts. Her digital clock on her nightstand read 8:30. Stifling a yawn, she turned the page to keep reading; she was engrossed in the book and finding out more about Katie.

“Just for the fun of it, Katie had shifted the air current then so that the pollen drifted under his nose; when he sneezed, Pastor Grooten had to grab for his sermon pages before they sailed off the lecturn.”

Wow! Sarah thought. To be able to move things by just thinking about it. How does Katie do it? But then she thought about what she was able to do. I can talk to ghosts. I wonder if there are others out there who have psychic abilities. I can’t be the only one! Katie was different, like her, just in a different way. Wouldn’t it be nice to meet someone else who was different. There have to be others like her somewhere. Sarah wished she could meet Katie. They could be best friends!

She delved into the book, reading passage after passage of Katie’s harmless pranks: making her horrible babysitter tremble at the sight of a floating fork and creating a gust of wind that caused a door to slam into her pesky neighbor’s face.

Sarah understood Katie’s predicament. Katie had silver eyes and was odd to people around her. Sarah felt the same way. Most people shied away from her because they thought she was “cursed.”

She was so enamored by the book that she read until her eyes became very heavy. She remembered when she was younger how her dad would say “Your eyes are getting heavy; you are getting sleepy, sleepy, sleepy” when he was trying to put her to sleep. How she missed her dad. She knew that he was okay on the other side since her grandmother who had come to her one day told her so. She wondered if he would come to her directly someday. It would be so nice to see him and talk to him, even if he was in spirit and not on the earthly plane anymore.

Turning off her bed lamp and laying her book on her nightstand, Sarah snuggled under her duvet and fell fast asleep. She had no problem falling asleep; in fact, she would fall into such a deep sleep, she would have the most vivid dreams. And that night was no different.

She was sitting in the back seat of her mom’s car peering out the window. The crow came up to her window and started tapping on it with his beak. He started talking to her telepathically. “Pay attention to the magic in the world,” he chirped. “You can create anything you like through magic. Your thoughts are powerful!”

Sarah woke up the next morning thinking about the dream and how she felt that crow was trying to tell her something, but what? She had to put it out of her mind for now since she had to get ready for school. She would ponder over it when she got home in the afternoon.

About the Author:


Erica Tucci had a full life as a corporate manager of a Fortune 500 company, a healing arts business owner and an author. It all came to a screeching halt in June 2011 when she had a stroke. During her recovery, she gained much wisdom about what’s really important in life. Although she was a Reiki master, massage therapist and life coach as well as a corporate cog, she realized that her passion was her books. Her hope now is that the messages of her books will be an inspiration for others, young and old. “Busy doing what, if I might ask?” Åsa said, not letting the possibility of a free lunch tomorrow distract her.

Natalia didn’t say anything. She looked down at her buried desk. Now would be a good time for one of her phones to ring, or maybe the fire alarm could go off, she thought.

Åsa’s eyes widened as if she’d had a realization. “Aha, who is he?”

“Don’t be silly. I’m just going to eat lunch.”

Åsa’s eyes narrowed to two turquoise slits. “But you’re acting so weird, even for you. With who?”

Natalia pressed her lips together.

“Natalia, with who?”

Natalia gave up. “With someone from, um, HC.”

Åsa furrowed her light eyebrows. “With who?” she stubbornly demanded. She might have made a good cult leader, but she also would have made a terrific interrogator, Natalia thought. All that blond bimbo fluff was misleading.

“It’s just a business lunch,” she said defensively. “With no agenda. He knows J-O,” she added as if the fact that her lunch date knew her boss explained everything.

“Who?”

She capitulated. “David Hammar.”

Åsa leaned back and beamed at Natalia. “The big guy, huh?” she said. “Mister Venture Capitalist himself. The biggest bad boy in the financial world.” She cocked her head. “Promise me you’re planning to sleep with him.”

“You’re crazed,” Natalia said. “Sex-crazed. I actually wish I could cancel it. I’m really stressed out. But one of the things I can’t find in this mess is my cell phone, which has his number on it,” she added. How could you lose a phone in an office that was smaller than forty square feet?

“But for God’s sake, woman, why don’t you get yourself an assistant?”

“I have an assistant,” Natalia said. “Who, unlike me, has a life. Her kids were sick, so she went home.” Natalia glanced at the clock. “Yesterday.” With a sigh she sank into her desk chair. She closed her eyes. She couldn’t look anymore. She was really done. It felt like she’d been working nonstop for ages. And there was so much paperwork she was behind on, a report to write, and at least five meetings to schedule. Actually she didn’t . . .

“Natalia?”

Åsa’s voice made her jump, and Natalia realized she’d been dozing off in her uncomfortable chair.

“What?” she asked.

Åsa looked at her seriously. Her mocking expression was gone.

“Hammar Capital isn’t evil, no matter what your dad and your brother think. They’re tough, yes, but David Hammar isn’t Satan. And he’s really hot. You don’t need to be ashamed if you think it’ll be fun to meet him.”

“No,” said Natalia. “I know.” But she’d been wondering what Hammar Capital’s legendary CEO wanted with her. And maybe he wasn’t Satan, but he had the reputation of being hard and inconsiderate even by financial industry standards. “No, I’m just going to have lunch and get the lay of the land,” she said firmly. “If he has business with the bank, he’s going to want to deal with J-O, not me.”

Åsa leaned over the desk. “You know very well you shouldn’t care so much what your father thinks,” she said, as usual putting her finger right on the sore spot and pushing. “You’re brilliant, and you’re going to go far. You can make your career here.” Åsa gestured to the building they were in, the Swedish headquarters of one of the world’s biggest banks, the Bank of London. “You don’t have to work at the family company to be worth something,” Åsa continued. “They have the world’s least progressive view of women’s rights and you know it. Your dad is hopeless; your brother is an idiot, and the rest of the board wins the male chauvinist pig prize of all time. And I should know, because I work with them.” She cocked her head. “You’re smarter than all of them put together.”

Klicky Men's Sport Performance Climalite Boxer Brief Underwear (4-Pack)

I got these for my husband. They fit him very well and look nice on him. They do not ride up and bind on him. He does wish they had a trap door as he calls it on the front. He loves the material these are made out of it is called Climalite, he says they do help keep him cooler then regular cotton underwear. The waist band is made of elastic as with most underwear. The seems are flat instead of bunched, which makes them even more comfortable to wear. this do go just above mid thigh on him which is a bit longer then most of his underwear but he still likes them anyway. There are 4 pairs in the package. Each pair was individually in a zip top plastic bag. I tossed thee in the washer and dryer both, there was no problems. They did not shrink any that we could tell, the did not fade, and the color did not seem to bleed any.

AM CLOTHES Womens Sexy Strap Satin Lace V-Neck Camisole

My husband actually likes this more then I do, not that I don't like ti. I really do like it. It is soft and silky against my skin. The colors are bright and vibrant and it looks really nice on me. This goes to just above mid thigh on me and I am 5 foot 6. I did toss out the G-string that comes with the Camisole since I do not care to wear them and replaced it with a pair of black lace panties. I love how the black lace looks against my skin and the color of the camisole. There is a stretchy elastic strip under the bust area that really allows the waist area to hang very well and cover my stomach area instead of accentuating my imperfect waist line. I washed mine in the wash machine in a lingerie bag on gentle cycle and let it hang to dry. I had no problems at all with it shrinking, fading or having color bleed.
