When her beloved soul friend husband, Gerald, passed away a few years ago, and her friends and sons moved to distant cities, she found herself alone for the first time in her life.

Gerald, a professional artist, had his studio in their home. Their home was always filled with family life, art, music, joy and playfulness in the garden.
After his passing, the silence was loud. The joy was gone — her paradise — a lost paradise.

She had two choices, either to fall apart or to get on with life.  She chose the latter and traveled to find a home, a community — however - nowhere was home - since he left.
In writing Nowhere Is Home … Since You Left, Madeleine Zeldin shares her insights, emotions, and true life experiences as she journeys solo throughout the years following the sorrowful death of her soul mate, internationally renowned artist, Gerald Zeldin. She presents years of storytelling based on travel journals she wrote while traveling to countries such as Mexico, Philippines, Ecuador, France, Spain, and California, U.S.A.  Zeldin also reveals the intensity of the pain and sorrow experienced in her grief, along with the fulfillment, satisfaction and logistics of international travel. In her travels she volunteered in the medical field and gave help where help was needed. She brings inspiration to those of her generation, the 60’s, who find themselves alone.

Through her evocative tales of adventure, Zeldin reveals this life-changing knowledge to the world!

But ultimately where is Home?

Finding Your Path

“Do not go where the path may lead.

Go instead where there is no path

And leave a trail.”

Ralph Waldo Emerson

When i travel to faraway places, i like to experience the local flavour … and often write a ‘sketch’ of my experiences …

My purpose in writing these travel journals … these ‘sketches’ …
is to share with you my adventures and cultural experiences of these places … the road less travelled …

saw two lovers on the beach this evening …

they were gentle and sweet …

one walked up to a bag of garbage that someone thoughtlessly left on the beach …

he tore the bag apart and started licking some juice
from the juice box …

the female slowly walked over to her friend … and coyly looked at him … as if to say …

may i share … they both started licking, then stopped …

they looked at each other and rubbed noses …

as their lips gently touched …

their slender grey proud bodies strolled away graciously

when the dogs came to chase

these donkeys away …

as we were looking down at the clear ocean from the high cliffs …
we saw the outline of a shark …

swimming around the shoreline far below … just where we were going to go snorkelling …

so the tour guides … all young ecuadorians with a sense of humor…

said they would keep us safe and took us to another spot …
but not far off …

around the other side of this small island …

not sure whether to quite trust these young men …

as we were swimming in the deep waters way out in the pacific …
i asked one to watch out for sharks …

he said not to worry …
the only shark i would have to watch out for… was him …

last night i tripped and broke my toenail
and did not want to cut it off …

so bought some crazy glue … for fifty cents …
and glued my nail together …

the only problem … i glued the tip of my finger to my toenail …

was almost impossible to pull it away …

so now my finger tip is part of my toenail …

About the Author

Professionally, Ms. Zeldin has been engaged in nursing and teaching. She has successfully advocated for changes in the medical field, along with homebirth and Midwifery. In her travels to out of the way places, she has been a keen observer of people and distant cultures, often writing a 'sketch' of her experience.

Madeleine is an advocate of advocacy.

Madeleine believes we can all make a difference.

Throughout her adult life she has successfully advocated for change. When she felt change was needed, she rallied. She lobbied. She started a group or joined a group.

In the late '70's, when her town council was considering tearing down old heritage properties in the name of 'Progress', she helped start a group of interested citizens in order to save these heritage properties. 'Progress' was stopped and many heritage buildings were saved due to the group's diligence.

Again in the early '80's, Madeleine herself changed local hospital policy to allow midwives to accompany couples in the birthing room, after the hospital refused to allow her midwife to enter.

She belonged to a group of informed parents who advocated for changes in the policies for vaccinations.

Madeleine volunteered at the local Health Center and advocated for improved health care for refugees. Improvements were made.

She successfully advocated for her soul-friend, late husband Gerald's medical care throughout their six year battle with cancer. Many important changes were implemented in our medical system due to her persistence.

Madeleine has been ahead of her time in her generation. She had many professions throughout her life including social worker, teacher, registered nurse. She also joined a group of midwives and again successfully advocated for choices in childbirth.

However, she considers her most important achievement as being a mother and grandmother. She has instilled in her family a sense of love and empathy and has taught them to love the earth and its people.

BedHug Burrow Blanket for Dogs & Cats

My little dog loves blankets and burrowing. So when I saw this cute burrow blanket I figured he would love it too. I was right. He sleeps on a pillow instead of a normal dog bed but the pillow fit inside of the burrow blanket just fine. I tied to get a picture of him in it but he looks at me like I am nuts and walks away.  Anyway he does like this burrow blanket he cuddles into it and takes his daily naps. If I take it out to the living room in the evening he will cuddle into it and watch TV with us. I love that it is washable. Just take it off and toss it in the machine. It velcros on together on the bottom around the pet bed or in my case the pillow. The material is so soft I want a big one for me.  Two things I really love about this burrow blanket actually have nothing to do with the softness, the fit, or the security. They are it is made in the USA and part of the proceeds go to Animal Rescues and Shelters. A company who thinks of others is top notch in my book.

I received this free but am not required to write a review, but  I decided I should let people know about my experience with it.

6 Pack Laundry Bag Delicates Mesh Wash Bag from Geberiela

I love this set of Laundry Bags. Lingerie is expensive and I hate to ruin it in the laundry. I also hate trying to hand wash it and get it clean enough. I live in Florida and sweat year round, so I don't feel like my bras and panties get clean enough swishing them around in a sink of water. I love these Laundry bags. There are 6 bags in the set 3 medium sized and 3 small sized. There are 2 of each size in white and 1 black. These bags are made of a soft mess and have a zipper at the top. The zipper does not come in contact with your clothing at all inside the bag. There is no sharp or pokey edges to hang and pull on even the finest of lingerie. I can put my lingerie inside, toss it int he washer with the rest of my laundry and do not have to worry about it. These bags will save me money and time.

Ajazz Watcher RGB Backlit Gaming Mouse

I am thrilled with this mouse. I love how easily it moves across my mouse pad. I love how easily it scrolls.. And I really love the awesome lights. You can choose from the 7 colors or let it rotate. There are 7 programmable buttons on this mouse. Great for gaming or just surfing the web. This is a corded mouse. The cord is about 5 feet long and covered in nylon. I seems to be a very durable cord. This is a plug and play mouse. Just plug it in and use it no software needed.

6pcs Seamless Versatile 16-in-1 Stretchable Headwear Sport Bandana Headband

I love these headbands. There are 6 in a pack. I believe they are random. The best thing about these headbands is you can wear them 16 different ways.  They are very stretchy and very soft cloth. I can cover my whole head like a bandana or I can fold it up like a sweatband and 14 other ways. I teied to take a picture of the package to show the 16 different ways you can wear these but it did not view well. There is a picture of the 16 different ones on each package though.

These are washable and I did not see any stringing when I washed mine. These comes individually wrapped so you could use them as stocking stuffers, keep one in the car, one in a gym bag, have one at work, or more.  They are about 1 1/2 feet long when laid out so will work great with long or short hair.

A Year and a Day of Everyday Witchcraft: 366 Ways to Witchify Your Life by Deborah Blake

You cannot read this book once then put it down and be done with it. This is more like a calendar. There are small and easy tasks to do each day of the year. There are small tasks from simple thinking tasks to easy doing tasks. You can actually start this book on the day you read it or save it for Jan. 1 and follow the book all year long.

Today is June 26. Todays task is to make a paper boat. Write your wishes or if there is something you want to unload, write it on the boat. Then take the boat to a lake or other water if you have one near. put a couple of small lightweight gifts on your boat like flowers and let it carry your wishes away. If you have things you want to get rid of, put the boat on the water and burn it.

See simple. This is an awesome book whether you believe in Witchcraft or not. These simple tasks are great for anyone.

I received this book from the Author or Publisher via Netgalley.com to read and review.
