Book Blast for When a Marquis Chooses a Bride by Ella Quinn

When a Marquis Chooses a Bride
by Ella Quinn

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE: Historical Romance
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

Thanks to their large extended family and unconventional courtship, the Worthingtons have seen their share of scandal and excitement. But nothing has prepared them for this...

The Dowager Lady Worthington isn’t quite sure what to make of country-girl Dorothea Stern. As the granddaughter of the Duke of Bristol, Dotty is schooled in the ways and means of the nobility. But her sharp wit and outspoken nature has everyone in a tizzy. Especially their cousin, Dominic, the Marquis of Merton.

Prematurely stuffy, Dom was raised by his cheerless uncle to be wary of a host of things, including innovation, waltzing, and most perilous of all: true love. Still, there’s something about Dotty, beyond her beauty, that Dom cannot resist. But the odds are against him if he intends to win her as his bride. Will he choose loyalty to his family—or risk everything for the one woman he believes is his perfect match…

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Excerpt One:
Dominic, Marquis of Merton, settled into his apartment at the Pulteney Hotel. His pride still stung at having been ejected from his cousin, Matt Worthington’s, town house. Blowing a cloud was the latest thing. Not that Dom would attempt to smoke in White’s, that was not allowed, but he outranked Worthington and should have been treated as an honored guest, not summarily told to leave. Still, it was probably convenient that Dom did not actually enjoy smoking, as he was sure the Pulteney would not allow it either.
He should have gone on his Grand Tour instead of taking a bolt to Town. But his mother had received a letter informing her of his cousin’s plans to wed, and he decided starting his own nursery would be the most responsible course. After all, the succession would not look after itself, and he had a duty to his family and dependents. Perhaps he would travel after he married.
Not that Dom truly wished to leave England. He liked an ordered life and travel was sure to disrupt the structure with which he was comfortable. He did not wish to visit France at all. Any land where the inhabitants would murder their betters held little interest for him. It all came back to the proper order of things. Life was much better when everyone followed the rules and knew their places.
He reconsidered opening up Merton House for the Season, but there was really no point when his mother was not here as well. Without her to act as his hostess, he would not be able to plan any entertainments other than for his friends. The hotel would suit for the short time he planned to spend in Town. It should not take him that long to find a wife. He was a marquis. Even without his considerable fortune, he would have been a desirable parti.
GENRE:  Romance
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

The Past Lives series of books introduces two strong women who undergo dramatic changes in their lives when they learn about their soul's past. Through past life regression they learn of their own history and investigate the concept of soul mates reuniting through time. Read Loves of our Lives and Love by Knight to learn about Katie Benjamin and Kelly Taylor.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Excerpt Two:
Loves of our Lives – Book 1
“I had this commissioned for you to have. I want you to wear it close to your heart and know my heart is now and will always be yours.” He opened the case and displayed a gold locket. She gasped at the beautiful locket within the case. It was a white cameo in a pale pink background.
“Turn it over,” he said.
She did and read the words he had engraved on the back. Forever in my heart, forever in my soul.
She felt tears running down her face as she looked at the beautiful words and then into Jonathon’s eyes. She looked deep into his eyes and felt her own soul connecting directly to Jonathon. He said to her, “Forever in my heart, forever in my soul. I will find you again.” He then wrapped his arms around her and took her lips in a passionate kiss. Her heart was hammering in her throat as she kissed him back. To her it felt a bit like a good-bye kiss, but a kiss filled with the promise of reuniting in time.
Interview with AC Chenier
  1. Where did the idea for this series come from?
The actual idea to create a series fell out of the first book. Having written the first one, I realized that a number of the characters in that one have their own stories to tell. And all of the stories relate to finding your soul mate through time. So the Past Lives series came to be. I suspect I will end up with some sub-series within the group. Love by Knight has none of the same characters as Loves of our Lives, but the theme of souls mate reuniting is the same. I’m currently working on a follow up to Love by Knight that will have the same characters, and centre on Jason Carter.
I decided to make the first two as a series since I’m also writing another style of romance novel that is not related to finding soul mates.  It’s a pure contemporary romance aimed as an easy-reading, cottage weekend book.
  1. What are your hobbies?
I have a number of hobbies. My main one is horseback riding. I’ve been an avid equestrian for 40ish years. I also enjoy golf and started curling this past winter. For quiet enjoyment you’ll find me lazing on a boat (when I can) or reading and listening to music.
For something a little different this year, I’ve tried my hand at some vegetable gardening. I purchased a hydroponics system last fall, and am enjoying sampling fresh veggies grown in my own home.
  1. Have you ever written or want to write a children's book or series?
I’ve never considered writing a children’s book. I have none of my own, and thus don’t feel that I actually relate to children all that well. I don’t think I could capture what a grade 3 or 4 child would enjoy reading.
  1. What is something you enjoy but are embarrassed to let the anyone else know about?
Oh boy, what is my “guilty pleasure”?  Or what is that one thing I don’t tell people about when I first meet them?  I have been indulging in adult colouring books and Mandalas for the past couple of years. I even create my own Mandalas and then colour them. I find both activities a form of moving meditation that really calms my entire body and mind.
I will admit that when I first started writing and got ready to publish, I was very reluctant to tell people I was a writer. Having been the logical accountant and business person, it was a significant leap to let people know that I was now exercising the creative side of my personality.
  1. What type of music do you listen to and what is your favorite song?
I listen to a lot of different types of music. I’ve got satellite radio, which is generally tuned to The Blend or The Bridge. But, that said, I also love to listen to musicals and more classical music like Il Divo, Sarah Brightman and Josh Groban. Throw in a bit of country music (Tim McGraw’s new song Honest and Kind is a current favourite) and you have a pretty eclectic selection of music. The only styles you won’t find me listening to are -hip hop/rap and jazz.
I can’t say that I have one song that is a favourite over and above any other….but if I had to choose one, I’d probably go with Mama by Il Divo.
Book Description:
When a mysterious stranger is your only hope...
The scars of the past have left their mark, both physical and emotional, on former military pilot Seth Erickson. Off-grid in the far reaches of the bitter Alaskan wilderness, he wants only to be left alone with his ghosts. But he can’t ignore a woman in need—beautiful, stranded and nearly frozen with fear.
Summer Silva never imagined that the search for her missing sister would leave her abandoned on a wintry back road, barely escaping with her life from a cold-blooded killer for hire. Now, hiding out in the isolated cabin of the secretive wounded warrior who saved her, Summer knows she must do what she fears most. Putting her trust in a stranger is all she has left.
All defenses are down
After a fiery first night together, Seth and Summer are bound by a need as powerful as a Bering Sea superstorm—and vulnerable to enemies just as fierce. For Seth, reawakened by desire, there is no sacrifice too great, no memory too dark, to keep Summer safe. But murder and treason lurk everywhere and Summer may not survive Alaska’s ruthless winter.
Excerpt/First Kiss:
“I think we’d be better off accepting what’s happening here.”
“And that is...?”
“That I want to kiss you.” I hit the point of no return. “And that you want me to kiss you.”
Her voice was a hoarse whisper. “It’s not true.”
“It’s true and you know it.” I ran my thumb over the soft expanse of her cheek. “So I propose that I kiss you now and get it out of the way. One kiss. Then we go to sleep and I mean just that, sleep, together, on my bed.” I held my breath. “What do you think? Is it too much to ask?”
She opened her mouth and closed it. A storm brewed in her eyes. She wasn’t sure. I knew it was a long shot, but I wasn’t one to hold back for fear of failure. Her nostrils widened, taking in my scent as if sniffing for danger. The seconds ticked by, minutes, hours, centuries. And then...surprise. She nodded ever so slightly.
I didn’t wait for her to change her mind. I kissed her, a connection that my body celebrated with fireworks. I put my arms around her waist and tasted her lips, her tongue, her breath. Glory. My body resonated with the memories of our night together.
I kissed her, as I’d wanted to do for two days, and the kiss confirmed that the connection that tugged on my senses was real. I held her face between my hands and kissed her some more until we were both out of breath and I hovered at the edge of no return. I made a huge effort to climb out of a very steep drop before I screwed everything up.
“Christ,” I rasped when I finally managed to tear my lips from hers.
Her breath came in short gasps, her eyes sparkled and her face flushed as if she had overexerted herself.
“Hell, I could kiss you all night.” I tucked a strand of hair behind her ear before letting go. “But this little taste of you is going to last me ’til morning.” Body screaming in protest, I took a step back. “Now go in there, get in bed, and don’t be scared. Okay? I’ll be along shortly.”
Her lips wavered, then a new smile birthed in her eyes and spread to her face, a mischievous grin that turned those luscious lips up at the corners and warned of all kinds of trouble.
She leaned into my space and, approaching me slowly, delivered her own kiss to my lips. The kiss was like an arctic wallop, but scalding; like a blow to the senses, but soft. Her tongue swiped a little taste of me. I gasped when she cut me off without warning, leaving me reeling, rock hard and without a trace of oxygen flowing to my lungs.
“Erickson?” she said before she sauntered off. “I don’t think you understand.”
“Understand what?”
She halted at the threshold and looked over her shoulder. “I’m not scared of you anymore,” she said. “I’m scared of me when I’m with you.”
A Love Affair in Alaska
By
Anna del Mar
Majestic reflections in Alaska. I know I have pinned Alaska pictures before, but is there anything as beautiful? Wow.:
My kids made me do it.
That’s the short explanation of how I fell in love with Alaska and the sexy novel that came out of the unlikely affair. How a tropical-bred urbanite—yup, that’d be me—and a Midwestern suburbanite—hubby—gave rise to such a pair of adventuresome souls is a complete mystery. But those kids? They’ve dragged us all over the world.
I never really wanted to go to Alaska BAK, Before Adventuresome Kids. San Francisco and New York? Sure. London? Check. Rome and Paris? Absolutely. Alaska? Not so much. That is, until my daughter insisted on a trip that led to my son volunteering at Denali National Park.
You’d think that hours of bush-whacking up steep slopes would have solidly cemented my craving for world class cities and warm Caribbean beaches. But as my boots parked on the cushioned tundra of a windswept ridge, I discovered a wilderness of fierce mountains and endless forests. Add to those views the rich, intricate storytelling of the Native cultures and the fascinating folks who live in Alaska and it was a done deal. I was hooked.
From this personal, life-transforming journey comes my latest romantic suspense, The Stranger, the story of Summer Silva, a warmth-loving Miami architect who chases her reckless sibling to Alaska when her sister runs away with a guy she met on the internet. Summer is a tropical being, kind of like me, and yet as her story begins, we find her stranded on a desolate Alaskan road, having just survived a murder attempt with a Bering Sea superstorm bearing down on her.
The Stranger who reluctantly comes to her aid is Seth Erickson, an Alaskan tycoon with a quarreling family as complicated as Summer’s own. Seth is also a helicopter pilot, a wounded warrior struggling to recover from injuries he sustained while serving in Afghanistan. He’s got no time for a lady in distress and yet he can’t just abandon Summer to fend for herself. When they shelter in his high-tech cabin and she comes to his bed, he embraces her sweet seduction. After so many months of gloom and agony, he feels revived. Entwined in his arms, she becomes the superstorm of his lifetime.
But Summer has a secret. She walks in her sleep and doesn’t remember afterward—dream chasing, the Native Athabaskans call it. And now two strangers from different worlds and opposite spectrums of the thermometer are caught in a vortex of passion that defies their differences and enrages their enemies. To survive, they must unravel the intrigues that threaten their lives and chase after a new dream in spectacular Alaska.
Spriak Projector Strobe Light Disco Dj Party Stage Lights with Remote Control
This super cool light is awesome for parties or just to relax watching the lights play on the ceiling or wall. It comes with a remote to change through all the different modes. My video will show each mode. This is a small projector but it can be seen at long distance. I can set it on my desk at the end of my room and see it on the wall at the other end of my room with is 24 feet long. I like that it has a adjustable hanging bracket. It can be mounted to the ceiling, wall, or floor even. There are screws on each side to tighten the bracket with and it does stay in place. There is also a really nice metal tripod for sitting it on. The light is about 5 inches by 4 inches, by 2 inches, this is an estimate. The case is aluminum. It is not waterproof.
the kids enjoy watching this light, and it does make a great mood light for parties. There is also a music mode, it will bounce to the beat as good as any dancer on the floor.  There are switches on the back to you can switch it to or just use the remote.
I received this product during a promotion free for my honest review and they are 100% my own opinions. I received no compensation for this review and I am not required to give a good review. I am also not associated with the seller in any way.
