CHAPTER 1

There was nothing quite like walking along the salt withered boardwalk of Oceanside Wharf. The unsteady sea roared to my left. The waves were nothing but a dark blur on the horizon that eventually licked the corners of the sandy beach. The lack of seagulls, the cloudy sky, and the stillness in the air told me one thing; there was a storm coming. Usually, these walks by myself were the only way that I could relax after a long day, but tonight was different. Despite the buzzing, yellow streetlamps that hovered over my head, everything about the atmosphere just seemed so much darker than normal.
Everything was ordinary that night, but it seemed too ordinary. Something about the way that my feet padded against the wood seemed to sound too familiar. Something about the way the salty air smelled seemed too perfect as if it were manufactured in a perfume bottle. I ached to see the stars through the cloud cover, but something told me that those wouldn’t look right either. The cold air whipped my long hair around my face, causing me to wrap my arms even tighter around my torso. This made me feel a tiny bit more secure, but I couldn’t deny the way my heart pounded in my chest.
I walked this route every day after my night classes; it was my daily routine. I couldn’t put my finger on it, but something didn’t seem right. My skin broke out in a layer goosebumps that I couldn’t get rid of, no matter how hard I rubbed my arms. The hair on the back of my neck stood up on end. My eyes were peeled for some type of disturbance in the normality of my walk, but I couldn’t find anything. I found myself peeking over my shoulder every so often, but I found nothing but an empty, dimly lit street and a growing distance from the brightly lit university.
These walks had grown more and more intimidating since I first met him. He came to the roller skating rink one night while I was working at the concession stand. We were pretty slow considering that the rink was rented out for a few child’s birthday parties. Every so often, a kid would ask for some candy, but I mostly spent the night leaning against the counter, blankly staring into the rink. That was when I first saw him, standing on the other side of the rink. He was wearing sunglasses inside, which I thought was extremely weird considering that the sun went down at least an hour before he arrived. He didn’t skate and he didn’t talk to anyone. I assumed he was there to watch the kids, but his sunglasses made it hard to gauge what exactly he was staring at. He was so still as if he were able to lock his muscles in position. It made me uncomfortable, but then again, a lot of things made me uncomfortable.
It didn’t become an issue until two women approached me at the stand.
“Excuse me?” The smaller one pulled me away from my thoughts.
“Hello ladies,” I put on my best customer service smile.
They both smiled politely before the plump one spoke, “We have a problem.”
“Yes?”

Bluetooth Headphones TONESOUL Wireless Magnetic Headset

I originally got these for myself but my husband seeing that they were magnetic promptly stole them from me. He can wear these at work and not have to worry as much about them being lost. The magnetic earbuds do stick together very well. The sound quality is very good as well. He works in a very loud plant that a lot of headphones and ear pieces cannot stand up to. He also works in a very hot plant and sweats a lot. These are sweat proof. The are Bluetooth and paired almost instantly with his phone. They work great for listening to music and making calls. We are both very happy with these earphones.

TWINS FLAME Women's Hourglass Zipper and Hook Waist Cincher Training Corset

I have a few waist cinchers but this is the only one I have that has a zipper. I want more of these. The zipper makes putting on and wearing this cincher so much easier. It is also very comfortable to wear. My hands cannot handle all of the little hooks on most cinchers and the velcro ones are not near as comfortable and show pretty bad under a lot of clothing types. This does have a few hook and eye but they are on the inside of the cincher, there are 2 hooks and eyes on each of the 4 flaps. These are just to kind of hold it together to make it easier to zip. This one is long enough as well to hold everything inside of the cincher instead of giving you muffin top out the top and the bottom like some of the cinchers that are not very long. I also tossed mine in the washer and dryer without thinking and it came out fine. I am very happy with this cincher. Do read the size chart to get the right size though.

Platinum Plated Swarovski Elements Cubic Zirconia Bracelet

Absolutely stunning bracelet. I am so happy with my bracelet. I am in love with it''s beauty and it's fit as well. I wore this out with my husband. Usually he doesn't say much about the jewelry I wear but he saw this on my wrist and told me it was beautiful. He really likes it. So I was kind of shocked when he commented on it. I have wore it several times now and love it. None of the stones have fallen out or come loose. It does not turn my wrist green even in hot and sweaty situations. My Daughter has even asked to wear it, which is a definite no, I won;t get it back.. I will be ordering one for her for her birthday in a few months though.

The bracelet comes packaged in a really pretty padded gift box. It even has a bow on the box already. This would make a awesome gift for any woman, or just for yourself like I done.

I received this product on a promotional discount for my honest review and they are 100% my own opinions. I received no compensation for this review and I am not required to give a good review. I am also not associated with the seller in any way.

Author's Bio:

Michael Barry Judkins was born in the Bronx, New York, along with his four brothers and sisters. Michael’s childhood memories, although bittersweet, provided a rich foundation for him to draw upon later in life as an accomplished author.

Delightful memories of trips to the zoo or picking apples with his mother contrast greatly to daily reminders of what any hard-working family must battle in building a life in an urban setting. Domestic violence. Drugs. Gangs. All play their part in shaping a person – whether for good or bad is often an individual’s choice.

After spending years immersed in typical, reactive adolescent behaviors like skipping school, smoking and drinking, Michael began experimenting with other alternatives to developing new relationships and helping resolve social issues. As he took these first, proactive steps to be part of the solution, and not the problem, the germ of the idea for his first book – Sentimental Me – was born.

Graduating from high school a year early, and after a foray into the music business, Michael completed a BS degree in Human Services and MS in Mental Health Counseling. A daydreamer for as long as he can remember, Michael’s inability to forge a relationship with his beloved father before he passed when Michael was only two years old still haunts him today. His mother’s cherished memories of his father’s spirit and honored Armed Forces service, while providing some solace, also serve to make Michael wonder what might have been, if only…
Today, with several poetry collections and short stories in the works, Michael’s first release – Sentimental Me – displays his ability to wrest good from bad, to display the courage to dig deep within himself to help others. Through an inspired melding of his unique voice and inspiring photographic images of nature, Michael provides the reader with a unique perspective of the human condition, inspiring others to follow their own creative paths without boundaries.

Michael now resides in Allentown, P.A., and welcomes all readers to feel free to contact him at judkins_michal@yahoo.com to discuss your reaction to his work, or learn more about upcoming releases.

What’s your favorite travel spot? by Michael B. Judkins
As a child, my mother used to pick me up from school early several times throughout the school year and take me to the zoo for the afternoon. I loved the diversity of the animals. Watching the camel rides, waiting for the seals to make a big splash or honk their voices, or the exotic birds from all reigns of the world, covered with the rainbow colors enjoying the people admiring their beauty. That was my favorite travel spot.
As an adult, I still love watching animals in their natural environment or at a structured place (Zoo, Aquarium) deliver a spectacular show. Gosh, just writing about those memories, brings a warm, cozy feeling to my soul. The zoo was a great place to visit as a child or an adult, in the fall, spring or the summer months. A place where family togetherness comes alive with laughter, entertainment, and a sense of calmness that last a lifetime. That’s what the daily trips several times a year to the zoo meant to me! A place of acceptance in a world of beautiful creatures, exotic areas of the planet, surrounded in one 2 -5 acre land for the small price of $5.00 (at that time).
As I write this piece, I’m starting to develop a poem, about remembrance, togetherness, a sense of joy and happiness, and most of all, the memories of all creatures embracing each other without fear, or judgment. So, the Zoo was my favorite travel spot and continues to bring a warm feeling to my soul as an adult.
