Bamboo Wood Charging Stand Bracket Docking Station by Kollea

Very nice stand and its nice looking too. This stand is made of bamboo. There is no wood smell to it. A lot of times wooden products have a smell to them when they arrive and sometimes it can be quit strong. Bamboo has very little if any smell to it. This is a multi dock it holds tablet, phones, and the apple watch. The great thing about it is it is not just for apple products. I have a RCA tablet, a Samsung phone, and a plain old every day watch, and they all fit just as well as the apple products. This will hold 2 tablets, a phone, and a watch, The piece that holds the watch goes in by magnets, so it is easily removed for adding or changing power cords, and if you want to take it on the go, it will will lay almost flat and fit nicely into luggage or a briefcase. There is also 3 spots for ink pens or stylus, so a great desk accessory. There are cut out to feed the charging cables in through, o the wires are nice and neatly tucked away.  This really is a nice charging station. It would also make a great gift.

Chef Asher Latest Instant Read Digital Kitchen Thermometer

I really like this instant read thermometer from Chef Asher. I love how it is small and easy to store. Doesn't take up a lot of room in the drawer. I like that it has a sheath to protect it while in the drawer, since I have lots of other gadgets in the drawer as well. I really love that the sheath attaches to the top of the thermometer while using it and I can keep my hand that much further away from the heat. I have had several thermometer and while some of them do have a sheath non of them hook on top like this one. By hooking on top I mean it like taking a cap off of a pen and putting on top of the barrel, and it is just that easy too..

In total the thermometer is about 12 inches long. The stainless steel probe is almost 8 1/2 inches long. With adding the sheath to the end of the thermometer it is about 20 inches long. No more hot hands. Great while frying because your hand is far enough away you do not grease burns either.

This has a nice and easy to read digital display. This will read from -52 to 572 degrees Fahrenheit. It reads rather quickly, usually withing 5 to 10 seconds. To preserve batteries, which come installed, it will shut itself off after 5 minutes. Comparing with another thermometer I have there was about a 2 degree difference, I am not positive which if either are spot on, but I am not gonna complain about 2 degrees.

FREETOO® Best Seneitive Electronic Fishing Bite Alarm Indicator LED Sound Alert

I live in Florida and fishing is huge free time activity. Lakes are everywhere. We took this out to a small lake we like to visit and hooked it on the pole. It did work. It worked really well at that. It was very windy the other day and did get a few false alarms as the wind whipped. But it did let us know when we got a bite on the line. It is very loud, and the light is great for night fishing as it is very bright. My brothers and nephews all are avid fishermen ans live next to a lake so will be getting them all one of these for Christmas this year.

These are small and made of plastic. They are very lightweight. They are very easy to use and come with a battery already installed. they are very easy to put onto a pole just clip it on. They rotate out of the way when reeling and casting, or can be quickly popped off and on the pole..

NBTM: Sins of the Father by Lisa Beth Darling

Sins of the Father
by Lisa Beth Darling

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE: Family centered drama
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

As Hannah recovers from emergency brain and heart surgery, memories of the past overtake her dreams with such clarity they cannot be denied. As the last of the painful family secrets come to light it's up to her brother, Doctor Richard Mason, and his unconventional methods to help her confront the ugliness.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Excerpt:
"If this doesn't work, she should sue you." Spaulding intoned as he turned on the hall light and advised Mason of the room's layout.  "Ok, look, the room is sort of 'U' shaped, the bed is in the middle of the room, Sister Cynthia built a fire in the hearth at the foot of the bed and there's a chair in a corner that's out of the way."
"Good. You wait until I start to walk in. You come in right behind me and get to the chair. Try not to let her see you."
"Oh, of course," Spaulding said in a mocking tone, "we wouldn't want her to think there was someone there to actually help her."
"Exactly." Mason returned in a deadpan voice. "There never was so why should there be now?"  He fiddled with the tie at his neck, smoothed his hair back one more time before putting the pipe to his lips and lighting it.  He stoked it hard filling the area with thick sweet smoke.  "Show time."
Hannah was in a light doze on the bed when the door opened.
The room was glowing a soft red/orange and she could only see the silhouette of someone standing in the doorway with the hall light behind them.  It looked like a man, he had a cane in one hand and…
A swirl of sweet smoke came from his mouth and drifted toward the ceiling as it wafted into the room.
"D-d-…Daddy?"
"What'r you doin', girl?"
Part of her told her that he was dead….buried….long fuckin' gone.  The other part told her she couldn't deny her own eyes and ears.  It reminded her that she hadn't gone to his funeral, hadn't seen his dead body, and watched it lowered into the cold, cold, ground.  Maybe they lied to her. Maybe he was alive and coming into her room.  "Tttt…tired, Daddy."  Hannah pulled the covers all the way up to her chin as she watched him make his way into the room. "I---I—I, don't…feel…well. Sick."
"Lazy's more like it, ain't that right, girl?"
It was in the 4th grade when Lisa Beth Darling discovered she was a naturally gifted writer. For her very first creative writing assignment, the teacher asked the class to pen a story about a baby bird's first flight and read them to the class. Putting pencil to paper, Lisa was instantly whisked away by a force she couldn't explain. When they were finished, all of the children read their happy stories to the class. Not Lisa. She got up and told of how the baby bird flew too high, hit a plane, crashed to the ground and died. She told of how the mama bird and daddy bird cried of how even God was upset sending the rains pouring from the sky. The class was speechless when she finished all they could do was stare at her. The teacher kept her after class told her the story was very good but it was different from the others. She asked Lisa if she'd ever heard of Icarus and had she based her story on him. Lisa had yet to encounter Greek Mythology or hear a whisper of Icarus. As Lisa left the classroom the teacher again told her how good the story was but suggested she might want to write something happier next time. Perplexed,  Lisa turned and asked her teacher: "Why?" The teacher had no answer. Luckily for us, Lisa never took that teacher's advice.
Today she brings us complex multi-layered stories rich with the trials and tribulations that make up the world in which we live. Not one to be pigeonholed into any single genre, Lisa's stories revolve around the intricacies of couples from range the intimacy of lovers, to mothers and sons, and brothers and sisters.
Lisa Beth Darling is 49 years-old, lives in her hometown of New London, CT with her husband of nearly 30 years, Roy.  She is the author of more than fifteen novels along with several short stories and non-fiction books.
Interview with Lisa Beth Darling
As a kid did you write or make up stories?
Yes, in fact I wrote my first novel in 7th grade. My friends loved it, they mimeographed it and gave it to other people. It was rather hot and adult for a 7th grader, it got me in trouble with my Guidance Counselor but I didn't back down. I just said I wouldn't pass any further pages around on school grounds. She agreed because, in large part, although I was only 12, she really liked what I was writing.
Where does most of your Character inspiration come from?
The Muse, there is no other creative source. All characters, stories, songs, poems, works of art, and ideas of great inspiration come from The Muse.  In the case of a writer, we get to pair what The Muse wants of us with bits and pieces of things we already know. Then we take The Muse's hand and jump into the abyss to see where it takes us. It's much fun.
Do some qualities of your characters come from real people?
Yes, they do. Writers draw on all types of things to keep a story evolving and moving forward after The Muse has drafted them into writing it. We're great observers of human behavior, in fact, I think we observe others quietly from the shadows almost as much as we write. Then we squash it all together to make putty that fills in some of the gaps of a given character's personality or motivation.
What was the inspiration for your book?
I started writing the Sister Christian series a few years after I made contact with my birth family and discovered I had three brothers. I was raised an only child so the idea that I had siblings was rather new to me, growing up I often wished I had a sibling but then I'd go to my friend's houses and see how they interacted with their siblings and went home happy I was an only child. The idea of the brother/sister dynamic always interested me even when my friends were shouting at each other over nothing. This series and a lot of its contents, planted deeply in the fertile ground of a writer's imagination, grew out of those two situations.
Sins of the Father is the second installment in the series, in it Doctor Richard Mason and his newly discovered sister, Hannah Rice are still getting to know each other. Except now, as we open, Hannah is debilitated having suffered a massive stroke at the end of Genesis, the first book in the series. She's on her way to recovery but the process is slow and as her body heals her mind begins to remember the details of her horrific car accident thirty years before. Dark family secrets are uncovered and in Mason's own reckless way he forces Hannah to face them.
What is your favorite spot to write?
At home, at my desk, where everything I could want or need is within easy reach. My office is filled with all types of kitchy objects from the 60s through the 80s; KISS dolls, The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, Star Trek dolls, a Spock cup from when I was 5, Twinkie the Kid, all kinds of things like that. It's very comfortable and, you know, just so 'me'.
What advice would you give budding writers?
Don't give up. Write your story freely from the heart, don't edit as you go along and even if you think something sounds utterly stupid write it anyway—you may find it plays well at some later point. Refine your story. Read your story from beginning to end, that's important if it doesn't make you laugh, cry, get excited, chances are it won't do it for anyone else. When you're ready, try the Traditional Publishing Route. I think everyone should try it just to see what it's really like. Don't submit to every publisher out there, do your Due Diligence, do your research before hitting 'submit'. If that doesn't work out for you don't get discouraged just go and learn about self-publishing, it isn't that hard, the publishing part that is. The getting it out there so people see it and maybe buy it part, that's a bear. But stick with it. Eventually you'll find your audience.
Mens Wood Watch Made with 100% Rosewood by Woodie Specs
Absolutely beautiful watch. Easter is coming and I needed something for my husband. The man who has everything and more then he needs, but I couldn't let a holiday go by without finding something for him. I love giving unique gifts to him and he loves unique things. His dress up watch is a few years old now and has already had the battery replaced once so when I saw this watch I knew he had to have it.
This watch casing is made out of 100% rosewood with a genuine leather band, and is handmade. The band is black and offset the reddish tint to the wood really nicely. The watch face is kind of large so it is easy to see. The hands have Miyota Quartz Movement, it is a very smooth movement. It is very easy to set the time just by gently pulling on the knob on the side of the watch. The band is adjustable and should fit most sized wrists. I put it on my wrist and it fit nicely with lots of room left over. From band tip to buckle the watch is 10 inches long. The watch itself is 2 by 2 inches. To get into the back of the watch you need a tiny philips head screw driver. The battery is already installed you just need to push the knob on the side in to start the watch.
I really like that the Woodie Specs company donates part of each purchase to Children in Need Through World Vision.
FREETOO Portable Digital Luggage Scale for Travel/ Outdoor/ Home,110 lb/50KG
I have a large bulky luggage scale which straps around the suitcase, it is really made for larger bags then the one I use so wasn't that great for me. This one is small and really works better. It comes with a short strap and hook which goes around the handle of our luggage. It has a digital readying on the handle. The digital reading is very easy to read. I have the black one and the digital display is in the center of the scale on top. I did not any problems using it at all. This comes with the CR2032 battery already installed but you need to remove the plastic piece underneath it in order to use the scale. Since I do not use my scale on a weekly basis I removed the battery totally after using and testing it, just as a precaution.
The scale will read up to 110 pounds. I used it on a few things and it was pretty accurate. I am not going to say spot on because, I don't have another scale that I can swear to being perfect either. I did weigh my test items on this scale, my other scale and also my bathroom scale and they were all with in a few ounces of each other. I have always heard rule of thumb is to make it 2 pounds under restricted weight with any scale.
It is very easy to use, just unhook the metal hook at the end of the strap from the top metal triangle loop the strap through the handle of your lugged and put put the hook back on the bar of the metal piece at the top. Turn the scale on and lift the luggage off the floor using the scale as your handle within seconds you will have your weight. Make sure to lift slowly, if the bag is swinging or spinning you will not get an accurate weight.
This is a small scale and perfect for taking with you on your trips. I like to bring back souvenirs from my trips but I don't want to make my bag to heavy and have to pay more, so having this with me will be great for the return trip home. Plus dirty clothes weigh more then clean ones.
Jump Cut
by Libby Fischer Hellmann
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

GENRE: Mystery

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
Chicago video producer, Ellie Foreman, has been absent from thriller author Libby Fischer Hellmann’s repertoire for almost a decade. Now she’s back...and soon entangled in a web of espionage, murder and suspicion that threatens to destroy what she holds most dear. Hired to produce a candyfloss profile of Chicago-based aviation giant, Delcroft, Ellie is dismayed when company VP Charlotte Hollander, the architect of a new anti-drone system for Delcroft, trashes the production and cancels the project. Ellie believes Hollander was spooked by shots of a specific man in the video footage. But when Ellie arranges to meet the man to find out why, he’s killed by a subway train before they can talk. In the confusion, she finds a seemingly abandoned pack of cigarettes with a flash drive inside that belonged to the now dead man.
Ellie has the drive’s contents decrypted, but before long she discovers she’s under surveillance. Suspecting Delcroft and the ambitious Hollander are behind it, she’s unconvinced when Hollander tells her the dead man was a Chinese spy. Ellie and her boyfriend Luke try to find answers, but they don’t realize how far into the dangerous echelons of hidden power they have ventured. When Ellie’s daughter is kidnapped and Charlotte Hollander disappears, it becomes terrifyingly clear that Ellie is in way over her head, and more lives are on the line, including her own.
Excerpt One:
Chapter Two
Monday
Before my gangstah-rap neighbor emptied his AK-47 into his buddy, the most exciting thing to happen in our village was the opening of a new grocery store. The store hired a pianist who played Beatles tunes, no doubt to persuade shoppers to part with their money more easily. My neighbor, rapper King Bling, was helping his fans part with their money too, but the shooting ended all that. Once he made bail, he moved and hasn’t been heard from since.
And so it goes in my little corner of the North Shore, about twenty miles from downtown Chicago. There are benefits. The King, as he’s known to his disciples, gave our cops something to do besides ticket speeders. And the new grocery store gave me the chance to buy prepared dinners so I could dispense with cooking.
Both of which come in handy when I’m producing a video, as was the case now. We didn’t finish the shoot until seven. I raced up the expressway toward home, dropped into the store, and was eyeballing a turkey pot roast—the only one left—when my cell trilled. I fished it out of my bag.
“Mom, where did you get the shoes?” I heard chatter and giggles in the background.
“What shoes, Rachel?”
“The ones you gave Jackie.” My daughter, Rachel, had successfully, if unbelievably, graduated from college and lived in an apartment in Wrigleyville. Jackie was her roommate. “Everybody thinks they’re awesome.”
Interview with Libby Fischer Hellmann
As a kid did you write or make up stories?
I did! I used to go to a playground that had a grassy area. I would collect sticks and stones and build a house with a fireplace in front, and make up all sorts of stories about the people who lived in the house and tended the fire. I was a voracious reader, but I never thought about writing… until I was about 45.
Where does most of your Character inspiration come from?
Do some qualities of your characters come from real people?
I’m sure they do, but I’m not conscious of it. When I begin a new novel, if the characters are folks I don’t know, I write their backstories. It’s all in my imagination, but I know there are pieces of different people I’ve come across. The only character I took from real life was my protagonist’s best friend, Susan. She was my best friend when I started the Ellie Foreman mysteries, but she passed from breast cancer when I wrote the 4th book. After that I sent Ellie on vacation for 10 years. Hmm… now I’m wondering whether there was a connection. Hadn’t thought about it before. Thanks!
What was the inspiration for your book?
I’ve written 13 novels, but the newest one, Jump Cut, is an espionage thriller set in what I call the post-Snowden era. Between 2002 and 2005 I wrote four Ellie Foreman mysteries, Ellie being a Chicago video producer who finds herself investigating murders. After #4, I set the series aside and wrote a number of other novels, including a trio of historical novels and another crime series featuring PI Georgia Davis. Last summer I dipped my toe into World War Two and spy literature with THE INCIDENTAL SPY. It turned out well (you can find it with all the “usual suspects”) so I decided to try a modern day espionage thriller set after the NSA revelations and Edward Snowden’s actions. What brought me back to Ellie, aside from fan requests, was the story. As soon as I knew I was going to write a “post-Snowden” espionage thriller, it was clear Ellie would be the character to anchor it. The fact that she could produce a video for a giant aviation company in Chicago that also manufactures military attack drones and had close ties to the US Defense community sealed the deal.
What is your favorite spot to write?
I write pretty much anywhere, but it feels most comfortable when I’m in my office. Here’s a pic of me doing research on the phone:
What advice would you give budding writers?
  1. Place butt in chair and write for 45 minutes at a time – do not edit.
  2. Edit after 45 minutes. Then edit again.
  3. Join a writers’ group and park your ego at the door.
  4. When you have a finished product, wait a month. Then edit again.
  5. Hire a developmental editor to edit it again.
