~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Excerpt One:
“Please, Klemen, stop talking about fashion agencies and such!”
“And us?” he held her hand. He was surprised to see she was wearing the bracelet he had given her for Valentines.
“What do you mean, have you forgotten everything?” she smiled at him.
Reminiscence.
An element of an art work that revives memories of past events.
The memory of Bled.
“It’s all in your, my, our hands. Don’t fake ignorance and use Mr. Egon as an excuse!”
“Just say what you want!”
“I want things between us to stay exactly the same as they are right now. I want us to always tell each other the honest truth, even if I ever become as famous as… Claudia Schiffer.”
“Okay,” they shook hands. “Whoever breaks the promise shall be damned, a hundred times!”
“A thousand times! Damned for life! Okay?”
“Are you thinking of the curse that will strike the one who breaks the promise?” he looked at her from the side.
“Yes, exactly that one!”
“But will you be able to accept me back after all the bad things I’ve done to you? I feel like a hustler of the worst kind.”
They were quiet for a long time, staring through the window.
Two turtledoves were sitting on a branch, showing affection to each other.
“I’m sorry,” Klemen said, absorbed in thoughts. “I’m asking you to forgive me if you can.”
“I’m asking you to forgive me as well. It’s all up to you, Klemen,” Maja said softly.
He squeezed her hand strongly, as if he wanted to say that everything was back to normal.
That they were back to where they had started before Valentine’s Day 2004.
Now they could finally feel free, independent, free from evil people.
They were able to find anchor in their haven because their love was above all the filth.
And the end is always the beginning of something new.
Ever Ready Porta Sharps Transportable Sharps Container With Locking Mechanism
My Mom and brother are both needle dependent diabetics, so this Sharps container is great for them. The needle and syringe both fit perfectly in this container. It is perfect for both new and used needles when they are on the go. It is small enough to fit into a pocket, purse, briefcase, backpack, or any other way you care to tote it. It is so much safer then the little pouch they both have. Then when they get home they can pout it in their disposal container. This does say 1 use, but if you just shut it and don't lock it, it could be used again and again.
Excerpt:
The Bluff -  Maria Lewis
A shrill, piercing sound punctured Ever’s subconscious, waking her with a start. The room was an impenetrable mass of black, and she fumbled around in the darkness for the source of the unforgivable noise. She tumbled ungracefully out of bed and landed on the floor — thankfully on her phone — and groaned as she rolled over to answer it.
‘Ello,’ she said, her voice raw and raspy from the previous night’s festivities.
‘It’s happening.’
‘Ardelia?’ Ever whispered, the words not sounding like they came from her own mouth.
‘That storm cell we were looking at is happening. The low is moving offshore and will make landfall in the next forty-eight.’
‘Holy shit.’
‘If we wanna do this, we gotta do this now. I called your brother, and he can get the plane up in two hours. We’d be in Hobart before sunrise and it would be a few hours’ drive before we get a boat out to the break.’
‘I know, I know … ‘
There was a long pause as Ever’s mind ran over the finer details and the timeline in her head. This would use up the last of what they had in the sponsorship budget, and if the low dissipated before they got there it would be a complete waste of time.
‘Ever?’
‘I’m thinking. Is Kitty in?’
‘You know Kitty; we did her trip to Brazil and my bucket list is ticked off. This is all you.’
Ever bit her lip, feeling her heartbeat pulse beneath her skin with anticipation. ‘All right, let’s do it.’
‘YES! Ha, this is so exciting! When can you make it?’
‘Uh …’ Ever sat up, looking around at the strange surroundings now that her eyes had adjusted to the darkness. She peered over the edge of the bed at the sleeping body that lay there. ‘I think I can be at the airport within the hour. I need to pick up the big-wave boards from home and the fins, but —’
‘Wait, it’s two in the morning and you’re not at home?’
Shit, thought Ever, mentally scolding herself.
Ardelia’s delighted smirk was almost audible through the phone. ‘Ever, where are you, girl?’
‘I’m not one hundred per cent sure,’ she replied.
‘You went home with someone last night!’ Ardelia shrieked.
‘Ssssshhh, they’re still sleeping and if you keep speaking at that volume I’m never gonna make it out of here without waking them up,’ she said, getting to her feet and collecting her clothes, which were scattered around the room.
‘Who is he? Or she? Were they good? Oh, my God, this is so unlike you — I’m waking Kitty up.’
‘Don’t you dare.’
‘KITTY! Kitty wake the fu—’
Ever hung up the phone. She was going to cop the full inquisition once she got on the plane, but right now she needed to focus on making a hasty and silent exit.
 Tess Woods – interview for Teresa Noel
Are you an avid reader?
Absolutely, I’ve been a bookworm ever since I could hold a book in my own hands! I read every night.
What is your favorite Genre?
I love contemporary women’s fiction the most, which is what I also write so I guess that’s no co-incidence. I love character stories where I can get right into characters’ headspaces.
If a book was written of your life, what would you want the book named? Why?
I’d love something to reflect my resilience and optimism I think. I had a difficult life until I was an adult and left home but I’ve since created my own family and have been able to give my children the happy childhood I missed out on. I am eternal optimist too, it takes a lot to make me unhappy! So with that in mind maybe something like, The Girl Who Kept Smiling.
Monkeybrother Handheld Magnifier Reading with Led Light
I am in love with this magnifier. My eyes are not the best in the world, if I take my glasses off I cannot read anything and cannot see much more. Just in the last few days of having this magnifier I have definitely put it through the testing process. My husband has also been using it. It is laying on my desk within easy reach for both of us. I love that it also lights up. It is not huge, it's just shy of 7 1/2 inches long. The handle is a nice size and easy to hold. This does take 3 AAA batteries which are not included. This is a very useful addition to my desk, and will be used all over the house.
Excerpt :
“Which one is he?” He popped the lid on his drink.
One team wore black-and-white striped T-shirts like a bunch of convicts, the other wore dark green ones with a yellow collar. As I scanned the men, I realized Faith would have enjoyed this. Watching sweaty, fit men run around and tackle each other, showing off their caveman qualities would spike any woman’s libido. When I finally glimpsed Gray on the field, my heart stuttered. The other night wasn’t a fluke. He did something to me. This guy, why this guy? Was I insane? There was one way to find out.
“There.” I pointed.
“The blond?”
I shook my head, took a sip of soda to cool myself down. Gray looked…God, amazing. Manly. He was wearing one of the ridiculous convict shirts, the neckline stretched out by someone’s rough grab. Sweat dripped down his forehead and he had a streak of dirt on his arm that blended in with the tattoo. With his arm exposed, I could see it was large enough to creep up his forearm and over his biceps. Although he was dark complected and tan, it stood out in stark contrast. I hadn’t been wild about tattoos in general before, but on Gray…it totally melted my butter. I had to wonder if he had any others, and if so, where?
“No, the one with the dark close-cropped hair.”
Simon looked where I pointed, his brows going up. “Holy shit, Em. That’s the guy?”
Virtual Book Tour for A Beginner's Guide to Invading Earth by Gerhard Gehrke
A Beginner's Guide to Invading Earth
by Gerhard Gehrke
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

GENRE: Science Fiction

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
What would you do if you found a dead alien on a lonely highway?
Was it an accident, sabotage, or murder? And why is everyone blaming Jeff?
The extraterrestrials aren’t waiting for answers. They want revenge. And Jeff isn’t ready for company.
His only hope is an outcast mechanic from another world and a woman who might do anything to get off planet, including selling out her own kind. Jeff has to get to the bottom of why there are so many alien bodies piling up and who is really responsible.
A science fiction adventure novel, A Beginner’s Guide to Invading Earth tells the story of a reclusive ex-computer programmer who is the unwitting central figure of a plot to keep humanity from ever making first contact.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Excerpt:

First contact with the humans wasn’t going as planned, as was obvious by the rank smells that choked the air of the alien visitorsʹ craft. But no one called them aliens where they came from.

Seven little Greys, short bipeds with large heads and big eyes and delicate limbs, sat in the flight seats of their ship’s crew compartments and listened as the Mission Commander lectured them from the Command Module. The harangue lingered in the air, not as words or even sounds but as a smell, a ripe one replete with pheromones and scent packets that the Greys used to speak with one another. A new string of curses from the Commander’s glands smelled of licorice. The Mission Commander composed itself. It wiped sticky sweat from its hairless frontal lobe.

The lights and displays in front of the seven crewmembers blinked and flashed. No one would so much as touch a button until the Commander was finished addressing the crew.

“I’ll hear no more of it,” the Commander said. “We’re on the human world. We go forward. Probability calculations for success show at 100%. The computer will be trusted.”

Guest post by Gerhard Gehrke

Topic: What’s the first thing you remember writing?

In grade school two friends and I produced a regular series of Pac-Man comic books with dozens of reoccurring characters, convoluted plot lines, and questionable artwork. As my collaborators had input, I was forced to allow vampires and Shogun Warriors into the mix. The Shogun Warriors (giant Japanese robots) had Pac-Man heads and would invariably get involved into literally swirling brawls with dismemberments galore. The vampires would suck other characters dry so that they looked like shriveled mounds of Pac-Flesh that just lost an encounter with one of their world's ghosts.

My parents asked the math teacher about this, as it went on under his watch and I brought home each issue for them to see. He reasoned that we were getting our work done correctly and keeping ourselves busy. With the amount of weapons and violence in each issue, I am certain that today this would have gotten the three of us making the comics put into therapy and possibly suspended, and the teacher fired.

What I find interesting is one of my comic writers went on to putting himself through college while majoring in both math and computer science. He later wrote an essay on professional wrestling and why he was a fan. It addressed nicely how even low-brow entertainment serves a purpose and can bring us joy. I'd like to believe that his time making comics with me contributed a measure of happiness.

And the tragedy is that none of these comics exist anymore. Some things get thrown out to make room for more important things. I had a sizable comic collection too that served as an inspiration for the comics we made. The collection has since been sold for pennies on the dollar of the original cover prices.

I never did much drawing from that point forward, and the writing moved to long hand in spiral notebooks. What I remember best is the flurry of inspiration after charging through our math work so we could bring our nutty creations into their next adventure.
