Can the two plucky detectives and the fearsome Brynhild outwit those who would bring about Ragnarok? Will they survive the harsh conditions and terrifying creatures of the Norse afterlife?

About the Author

Columbkill Noonan has an M.S. in Biology (she has, in turn, been a field biologist, an environmental compliance inspector, and a lecturer of Anatomy and Physiology).

When she's not teaching or writing, she can usually be found riding her rescue horse, Mittens, practicing yoga (on the ground, in an aerial silk, on a SUP board, and sometimes even on Mittens), or spending far too much time at the local organic, vegan market.

Interview with Columbkill Noonan

Do your characters seem to hijack the story or do you feel like you have the reigns of the story?

They totally hijack the story! Sometimes they surprise me with their antics…or with their cleverness. Barnabas in particular is unpredictable, I never know what he might do.

Convince us why you feel your book is a must read.

It is unusual, to say the least. It’s a cozy mystery, but set in the mythological afterlife of the Vikings (in the series, Barnabas and Wilfred end up dead straightaway, and now their job is to go from afterlife to afterlife, solving cases for the various gods). It’s also a comedy of errors, because Barnabas and Wilfred are in way over their heads, and the gods are not entirely sane, to say the least. But I think the main strength of the series is its heart. Barnabas might be knocked down, but he always gets back up. He may not always have the best attitude about things, but he gets things done. And it’s lighthearted. Barnabas and Wilfred will definitely lift your spirits!

Have you written any other books that are not published?

Does the one I wrote when I was five count? If not, then no.

Pen or type writer or computer?

I outline the general idea of the chapters with colored pen in a notebook. Then I use the computer to actually write the chapters.

Anything you would like to say to your readers and fans?

Thank you for making the Barnabas series a success! It’s still a bit unbelievable to me when I see nice reviews online, and I think, wow, they really got what I was trying to say. I think it’s always a little surreal when other people read your book…it’s like you’ve released your baby into the world, and you want so very much for people to like it. So thank you to the readers for welcoming Barnabas with open arms!
