Former pharmaceutical researcher Maggie O’Malley is losing sleep. Her boyfriend Constantine’s aunt is a multitasking sleepwalker who, in addition to wandering her stately home, prepares meals, folds laundry and, one winter night, stumbles across her husband with his throat slit.
It’s a rude and gruesome awakening that’s upsetting to Aunt Polly. And interesting to the police.
Maggie and Constantine work to uncover who killed the cosmetic surgery mogul and why. As they dig into the lives of those who knew him best, they discover that the truth is only skin deep and doctoring perception is a treatment with deadly side effects.
A gripping page-turner with more twists than a surgeon’s suture, 39 Winks is a tale of lies, betrayals and greed that will keep you up at night. And looking over your shoulder.

Interview with Kathleen Valenti
Do your characters seem to hijack the story or do you feel like you have the reigns of the story?
I always hold the reins of the story, but I leave room for my characters’ free will. I feel as if I met Maggie and Constantine as fully formed people. Although I have a clear path from start to finish, I listen for their voices. Their personalities and motivations direct the story in so many ways. If I fail to listen to my characters, I could miss out on important opportunities.
Convince us why you feel your book is a must read.
39 Winks is a page-turner that explores sleepwalking, chronic health conditions, guilt and secrets. It’s a book with a unique storyline, flesh-and-blood characters, high stakes and witty dialogue. Readers tell me that it’s an entertaining mix of thrills, humor and real-world concerns, and the early reviews are great!
Have you written any other books that are not published?
No, all of my books have been published.
Pen or type writer or computer?
I write solely on my computer because I can’t read my own handwriting. (True story!)
Anything you would like to say to your readers and fans?
Thank you so much for reading my books! There are so many wonderful authors, and I deeply appreciate your support. I come to writing with a reader’s heart and will always work to create books that entertain and engage.
