Book Description for The Five Truths About Work-Life Balance:
Work-life balance has nothing to do with work. Really. It also doesn't matter what words you use to describe it. The fact is, most people share a similar desire to create easy joy and meaningful engagement across the roles, relationships and responsibilities that make up life.
Our current habits and perceptions often get us stuck and prevent us from creating the life we desire. Get unstuck, learn the truths about work-life balance.

1. There are many books out there about work-life balance. What makes yours different?
It short, it’s illustrated and simple to understand. There is no magic one-size-fits-all answer. It boils down to choice, this book helps create clarity around how our choices either support or sabotage desired outcomes for balance.
2. You also teach the concepts from The Five Truths at workshops and keynote speaking engagements. How do audiences respond to your work?
Most people walk away feeling very empowered knowing that the choice is theirs to create the type of balance they are seeking. They also have a bit more clarity around what that balance actually means to them and how to have conversations about it with the people in their life.
3. How do you balance your teaching, speaking and writing time?
Because writing has been such a part of my life for so long it’s like breathing for me, I basically don’t leave the house until I’ve had my morning writing time. The rest is about having a great support team in the office to help make sure I’m where I need to be when I need to be there!
4. What's the strangest thing that has happened while teaching?
Where do I begin – talking about work-life balance around the world is breeding ground for strange things to happen. In a workshop in Russia someone shared out loud to his work team that he likes to have sex to reduce stress! I’m sure others might have thought it before – but he’s the first and only (to date) to ever share it with a whole room of people.
5. Do you have a favorite travel spot?
The world is too amazing to have only one favorite place to visit! High on the list are anywhere in Italy, Vienna, Copenhagen, Paris, Munich, Santiago, and Aspen.
6. Where do you get inspiration for your writing?
By doing the work and contemplating the struggles people share with me. When teaching workshops or consulting with clients I hear firsthand what drives imbalance and impact to work teams, families and health. I listen, I research, I meditate and I write and repeat as needed.
7. What is your next project?
I’m really interested in continuing to help people have conversations they want to have but don’t know how to have or are fearful to have with themselves or others. It sounds really simple to say what you mean, but simple doesn’t mean it’s easy to do.
