Hansel never asked to be a hero. He never wanted to fall in love with Rapunzel, Queen of the East. He didn’t ask to be raised by Gothel the Wretch, and he certainly never wanted to be credited for her arrest. But more than any of that, Hansel never wanted to lie: but he did. He lied about everything. He thought that he was done with it all when he and his sister Gretel retreated into the woods to reclaim their land, but he should have known better.

Hansel needs to find a way to fix this, otherwise he will be responsible for Grimm’s destruction, or that is what he thinks. As Hansel isn’t the only liar in Grimm.

cover reveal for Spell Book & Scandal by Jen McConnel

Spell Book & Scandal
Jen McConnel
Publication date: October 31st 2017
Genres: Paranormal, Young Adult
Shelby King is tired of living in her sister’s shadow. Just because Christina is the most powerful caster in school doesn’t mean Shelby’s any good at magic; she’s a scribe, like her mom, and everyone expects her to write spells for her sister, the way her mom always has for her dad. But Shelby’s spells fail spectacularly, and by the time she’s a sophomore, Christina won’t touch them with a ten-foot-pole; their parents aren’t much better. Shelby is fed up, and she decides to show the world she doesn’t care if she isn’t as good as her stuck-up sister, or as talented as their powerful parents. In fact, she decides it’s time to break all the rules, magical and otherwise, and she starts sneaking out to meet Jeremiah Smallwood, the second-best caster in school at illegal pop-up spell battles around town. She may not be able to scribe for him, but she doesn’t mind letting him think that she could; Shelby’s been half in love with Miah as long as she can remember, but he’s never paid attention to her until now, and she’s not going to risk her chances worrying about a pesky thing like the truth. But when Christina rats her out to their parents, Shelby can’t control her anger, and words come pouring out of her that she can’t take back even if she wanted to, threatening Christina’s future…and Shelby’s own chances with Jeremiah. It’ll take more magic than Shelby’s ever dreamed of to set things right, but no scribe has that much magic…right?

Think You Know About Self-Publishing? Think Again

Think You Know About Self-Publishing? Think Again

The ad promised riches.

All I had to do was purchase their product to learn the secrets of self-publishing, and the money would start rolling in.

Fortunately for me, I’d bought enough snake oil over the years from ads that promised I could rub away that ugly scratch on my car’s fender, or let a little robot clean my apartment while I relaxed.  Which is an excellent idea—if only it worked. The truth is there is no magic bullet, and ads that promise one are more than misleading, they’re deceiving.

There’s nothing more misleading than all the information that’s out there about self-publishing. If you are a writer interested in self-publishing, everywhere you turn you’re hearing conflicting information: Self-publishing is hard, self-publishing is easy, self-published authors don’t make any money. Use Scrivener, don’t use Scrivener. It’s enough to make you go batty.

The truth is, self-publishing isn’t for everyone.  In my new webinar, The 5 Big Lies You’ve Been Told About Self-Publishing, And Why They Tell Them, I break down the 5 big lies. Afterwards I discuss all of your publishing options so you can make an intelligent choice about which option is best for you.

Those of you who know me know I’ve had a lot of success in my 30 year career as a writer: Bestselling novels, a 2015 award winning novel, novels optioned by Hollywood, movie scripts, and I am an Emmy and Academy Award nominated writer. When it comes to writing, I know how to be successful, and I’d like to share some of my success secrets with you.

Interview with Author Georges Benay

Which was the hardest character to write? The easiest?

Interestingly, it's my protagonist that gives me the most trouble. You see, Eric Martin is a successful investment banker so it goes without saying that he is driven, borderline arrogant, used to winning at high end poker, and a tad too confident in his abilities to resolve any issue that is thrown at him. The problem is that, in my novels, Eric finds himself in life-threatening situations that he is ill equipped to deal with. My dilemma with Eric as a character is that I really want him to succeed but I do not want him to turn into this super hero a la James Bond where he suddenly takes the mantle of superman. There's a line in the book that best describes my challenge with my protagonist: "You're a bloody banker, for God's sake. The last time I checked, banking was not a contact sport!"
On the other hand all my female characters come to me easily. They are typically, strong, highly intelligent, and intuitive. I love them all.

Where do you get inspiration for your stories?

I wish I knew. I wish I had a deep well full of ideas or a set formula I could go to whenever I need a new story. My ideas come to me in waves at odd moments; while driving my car, in the middle of the night, or even in the middle of a tennis match! Inspiration is like creativity, without notice it takes you where it wants you to go. You just have to be ready to seize the moment with a computer or a piece of paper.

If you could put yourself as a character in your book, who would you be?

No one really. That will take all the fun out of it. I write fiction. If I wanted to write about myself, I guess I'd write a memoir.

How long have you been writing?

All my life would be the right answer if you consider, essays, poetry, business proposals, reports and speeches as part of my writing life experience. When it comes to short stories and novels, the bug hit me hard about ten years ago and I've not stopped writing since then.

What is your next project?

Another Eric Martin novel. I'd like to finish writing the Nomad trilogy. Does anyone out there have any ideas for a new adventure for our hero? If you do please send them to me. I'd be most grateful.

What is the last great book you've read?

The Road by Cormac McCarthy. It's so dark, so scary, and oh so poetic.

If you’re a mom writer, how do you balance your time?
That's an easy one. I'm a dad!
What is your writing schedule
I try to write a chapter a week. At least that's my objective, but I don't always achieve it. The subject matter, my mood at the time of writing, and my daily preoccupations have a definite influence of how much writing I get down in a week.

Sexiest Dad Alive by M. Clarke book blitz

Sexiest Dad Alive
M. Clarke
(Knight Fashion #3)
Publication date: February 27th 2017
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

Life isn’t a fairytale. Sometimes you have to fight for happily ever after. And sometimes you just have to let go.

Josh Bennett

It was a simple offer.

I invited Isla to rent a room in my five thousand square foot home. Plenty of rooms and plenty of space. But the second she moved in, I knew I was in trouble. I could handle wanting her when there was distance between us, but once we started to play house, all my pent up desire started knocking down walls.

That was my first mistake of many.

The private investigator I hired to track down my ex found her not far from where I live. I should have locked my past behind me, but something urged me to find her. I’m glad I did. But our union left me with a situation to be reckoned with.

When a new fire is lit and old flames rekindle, one will have to burn out.

The decisions I’ll have to make won’t be easy.

No matter what I choose, my heart will break.

EXCERPT:

Shelly leaned back, her hair falling around her face while her arms still embraced the pillow. “I could agree to that. You can come over during the weekday after work if you’d like to see Emma. That way she’ll get used to you. You can’t just take her for a weekend. She’ll cry bloody murder for me. And besides, I don’t think you know how to change diapers, or feed her, or give her a bath.”

I hadn’t thought about that. To Emma, I was a total stranger. “Okay. I’ll stop by every day around this time until she’s comfortable enough for me to take her on the weekend. I don’t have a project right now, so the timing is perfect.”

I leaned closer to Emma and caressed her chubby arm. Emma’s eyes fluttered open. When her bluish-green eyes set on me, I stopped breathing. Her eyes were just like mine, so uncanny, like almost looking at a reflection. Though Shelly had told me Emma’s eyes looked like mine, seeing the truth of it took my breath away. Relishing the feeling, I studied her.

I had thought she would burst out with a cry, but instead she smiled and twisted into a crawling position. Gripping the posts, she bounced, making cute baby sounds. When she spotted Shelly, Emma held out her arms and started to whine.

Shelly picked Emma up and kissed her forehead. The love Shelly had for Emma warmed my heart. I smiled, but I kept my heart hardened. Shelly told me her intentions, but I didn’t trust her.

“Here you go.” She deposited Emma in my arms, and since I hadn’t expected it, I almost dropped her. “Emma this is your father, Josh. Josh, your daughter, Emma.”

“Hi, Emma.” I bounced her a little the way I’d seen mothers do, afraid she would whine again. I had no idea what to do next. What the hell was I thinking when I had asked Shelly if I could have Emma for the weekend? I had no idea how to change a diaper, feed her, bathe her, or whatever else an eleven-month-old baby needed. I guessed I needed to hire a nanny as soon as possible.

Emma gave me a blank face. She glanced to her mother and then back to me, uncertain. When I made a goofy face, she smiled and let out a cute noise. One of her tiny, delicate hands touched my face, and the other set of fingers wrapped around my index finger. At that moment she stole my breath and tattooed herself onto my heart. You will always be a part of me. You own my heart and my soul. I will love you, care for you, and protect you with every breath I take. I’m your father, and I promise you I’ll make up for all the time lost. I swear to you on my life, Emma.

{Cover Reveal} Deadly Confections By S.E. Babin

Title: Deadly Confections (Bloom & Gloom Mysteries #1)

Author: S.E. Babin

Genre: Cozy Mystery

Release Date: August 29, 2017

Cover Designer: Viola Estrella

Hosted by: Buoni Amici Press, LLC.

Life wasn’t all that great when you were dead.

Piper was the head baker of Secret Confections in the scorching hot small Texas town of Babylon. Or...at least she was until she died. Struck by one of her own out of control cupcake trucks, Piper’s soul left her body and managed to somehow find its way into Purgatory. Turned out, the waiting room for Heaven and Hell was a small, invisible town in Texas.

Just her luck. She’d always wanted to leave Texas and ended up being stuck there for the rest of her afterlife.

But things weren’t all bad. She has a new bakery and new semi-kind of life. Until a guy rushes into her shop and dies right on top of her brand new ceramic floor.

Which might not have been that bad until he uttered the one word that was instant death to the livelihood of a baker with a brand new business.

USA Today Bestselling author S.E. Babin has a passion for writing books with a paranormal twist. Whether it's romance or mystery, she loves taking the norm and turning it into the extraordinary. Her love of reading turned into a curious exploration to see whether or not she could write her own novel. Beginning with discarded pages of angsty novels and a slightly popular reimagining of Beowulf's Grendel in her high school English class, Sheryl spent way too much time in the library, killing any chance of her becoming a cheerleader or anything even remotely cool.

Interview with Sionna Fox
Where do you get inspiration for your stories?
It tends to start with snippets of conversation going on in my head, then I expand from there. I use Gwen Hayes’s Romancing the Beat to create a basic plot outline once I start to get a better idea of to whom the voices in my head belong. Also, I really like an idea I picked up from Damon Suede at a conference workshop, of using a single verb and its synonyms to build a character’s motivation.
How did you do research for your book?
For Dark Rooms, I pulled from my own background. My degree focus—my college didn’t have majors—was photography. It’s been a while since I spent time in a darkroom, so I still had to do research. Instructables are great for getting an idea of what the process is of making or building just about anything.
Do you have another profession besides writing?
I’ve done a number of things to pay the bills, but right now I work in a restaurant.
If you could go back in time, where would you go?
I think I’d rather skip forward than back. The past wasn’t kind to most women, the present still isn’t to many. I’d rather look to the progress we make in the future.
What is your next project?

I have an F/F short story coming out in an anthology centered around musicians. After that, I don’t have any releases scheduled yet, but I’ll be back to work on a project that is near and dear to my heart that I hope will be out in the world sometime soon.
