book blurb

One year.
It’s been one year since Agent Damian Trent left for Washington without a word.
One year since he’s seen her beautiful face.
One year since he’s heard his name on her lips.
He's been recently called back to New York City on assignment, to catch a criminal who’s trying to infiltrate Sunset Reads. The last thing he expects is to work side by side with the woman he turned his back on.
Having her close is an unwanted distraction that he’s more than willing to ignore, if only she wasn’t so damn tempting.
Everything seems under control, until a night of feverish passion has him abandoning all thoughts of reason. Now, he will do everything in his power to get her back, and even more so to protect her.

Layla Reece wants nothing to do with the man who left her a year ago.
The man who took her heart with him, leaving her broken.
After a year of trying to forget Damian Trent, she is finally ready to move on.
But trying to forget him becomes a tedious task when he suddenly reappears in her life.
Although she fights to stay away, his magnetism is too strong and she finds herself giving into the deep timbre of his voice, and the strength and safety of his arms.
Staying away from Damian turns out to be futile, especially when his kisses consume her and his heart shatters the walls she spent so much time building.

Finding herself in danger, she now has to turn to the only man she trusts to keep her safe, but can she trust him enough to give him her heart once again?

meet the author

My name is D.C. and I'm the author of a new series currently on Amazon called Sunset Reads. The first book is based on the couple William and Cristina who find themselves fighting their urges to be with one another although a series of heated moments changes their lives forever.

I grew up in New York, I'm the daughter of two wonderful,Colombian immigrant parents. I'm a traveler, the travel bug hit me a couple years ago and my goal is to eventually see the whole world. So far I've gotten to Italy and Japan...I'm thinking Germany next. I started to write as an outlet for being bullied at school and as soon as I started I couldn't put the pen down. It was always my dream to be a published author, ever since the age of fourteen, and now at 34 I finally accomplished my goal.

I plan on continuing to write and really truly want to get to meet new readers and writers and share experiences and ideas. Being a part of forums is new to me, but I would love to get to know about the people who love to dream and create new ideas and fantasies through literature just like I do. Thank you for making me a part of your group and allowing me to join you in these amazing adventures in storytelling and reading.

I hope you enjoy reading William & Cristina’s story and continue to join me in this journey within the doors of Sunset Reads! Please sign up to my email list on http://www.dctriana.com for free giveaways, new excerpts and more on Sunset Reads upcoming new release!

book blurb

When twentysomethings Molly Kidd and Ryan Murphy formed a startup company in Seattle three years ago, they agreed that they were perfect for each other—as business partners.

Molly made the rules: they will never date each other, they will never talk about their personal lives, they will never visit each other’s homes. Fortunately, they have so much fun spending so much time working together at the office that they barely have time to do or talk about anything else anyway.

Now that it’s winter and everyone at their small successful company is overworked and grumpy, Murphy gets this crazy idea that they should all take a work vacation at a resort in Hawaii. Yes, the woman who organizes the workations at this resort happens to be gorgeous, but Murphy believes it will benefit the whole team to have more work-life balance.

Molly refuses to admit that she’s intimidated by the thought of the most important guy in her life falling for this perfect lady, so she agrees to the trip despite being equally uncomfortable with the idea of relaxing in a bikini in front of her coworkers.

Turns out it’s impossible to draw a line between business and pleasure in the sands of Oahu, and giving in to temptation could lead Molly and Murphy to lose more than just their hearts. But would it be worth it?

THE WORKATION is a standalone, the first in the Work Less, Play More series.

It’s a friends to lovers romantic comedy that works!

excerpt

Murphy

When we land, I turn on my phone and receive twenty-seven text messages. One is from Amelia, one is from Molly. I read the one from Molly first, in case there’s some kind of business emergency that came up in the last sixty seconds that I don’t know about. It’s this weird passive-aggressive message about Amelia and tacos and sausages. Now I understand why she never wanted to discuss personal stuff. She’s mean and insane.

I look back to her row. She’s pretending to be fast asleep. Or maybe she’s really asleep. But how else would she have sent me a text as soon as we landed?

Here’s the text from Amelia: Aloha! Hope you had an amazing flight. Excited to see you and your coworkers when you arrive at the resort!

Okay so it’s not flirtatious in any way, but at least it is what it is and I don’t have to question it. I guess I love things with Molly the way they’ve always been and we shouldn’t complicate that. She’s right.

I write Amelia back: Aloha! Can’t wait to see you.

Boom. Not flirtatious, but straightforward. As it should be.

The ding alerts us that we can unfasten our seatbelts. Chuck finally moves his big head so A.J. and I can see out the window, now that there’s not much to see. It’s still magic hour and I can’t wait to get out and feel the warm air. I look back at Molly again. Olive is helping her to stand up while Scooter gets her bag from the overhead bin. She’s staring at me, all smile-y and angelic-looking. Actually she’s a little cross-eyed. She may be drunk. And not actually staring at me.

“What’s up with Molly?” A.J. seems to be genuinely concerned. “Why does she look so happy?”

Chuck takes a look. “Looks like a mellow two-pill benzo high to me. Lightweight.”

I don’t want to know why it’s so easy for him to diagnose a woman’s high-ness, but I have never seen Molly Kidd under the influence of a drug (as far as I know). I grab my overhead bag, let Chuck and A. J. out, hang back at my seat and wait for her to reach me. Olive is basically propping her up from behind and coaxing her forward. I wait for Molly’s eyes to focus on me. When they do, she smiles so beautifully I almost feel my heart jump out of my chest.

“Hey you,” she says, her eyes blink once, slowly. She rests her head on my chest, somehow smelling good even after spending six hours on a plane. “I missed you.”

I clear my throat. “Hey there, champ. Guess you had a nice flight, huh?” I nod at Olive and take over propping Molly up and moving her forward so we don’t hold up the line of people waiting to disembark.

“I had a dream about you…” she says in a sing-song voice.

“Oh yeah? A business dream?”

She snort-laughs. “Yes!” She suddenly stops and turns around to look at me, all wobbly and serious. I hold onto her arm with my free hand. “You’re a dream, Murph. You. Are the dream.” People at the back of the line start to grumble and complain. She raises her arm up, gives them the finger, spins forward and walks ahead like a toddler. The flight attendant at the door reaches out to steady her. “I’m fine,” she says. “I’m totally fine.”

I’m not fine. Now I have no idea what to think. I turn my head back towards Olive, who keeps stopping in her tracks so Scooter will bump up against her. “What is that, a two-benzo high?”

“Yeah. What a lightweight. I don’t think I’ve seen her this relaxed in…”

“Ever.” Olive, Scooter and I say it at the same time.

EXCERPT:

Connell tried to drag the Elemental toward him, but she didn’t budge. Instead, she glanced at his hands. For a second, he could have sworn amusement flashed across her face. Then she was gone—wind whipping him in the face so hard it stung.

Fuck!

He turned around in a circle, scanning the air and the land around him. God, he couldn’t lose her now. He needed to get his wolf back. Not having the extra other in his head was tearing him apart. The empty space inside him was like a crawling emptiness. Sometimes, it was in his head. Other times, it was in his heart.

I can’t believe I lost her.
He’d had her in his hands, and then poof. At this

point, she could be anywhere. A strangled sigh escaped from deep in his chest. It sounded pathetic and broken, even to him. He checked the house to make sure she wasn’t there, and then he walked back out to his rented jeep. Damn it, he was going to have to start tracking her all over again.

“Hey, what’s your name?”

Stunned, Connell tripped. Pivoting on his heel, he turned to see the sprite standing on a huge boulder in the distance. He was so damn surprised to see her that he lost his tongue. He just stared at her like an idiot.

Apparently, she agreed. “I can’t keep calling you tall, dark, and stupid, now can I? Whatisyourname?” she repeated, over- enunciating each word.

He was too relieved to get upset over the fact she was talking to him as if he were slow. “Connell Maitland.”

The imp turned away and started addressing the air around her, “He says he’s one of the Maitlands. American accent, so one of the Colorado ones. Yeah. It’s severe. I haven’t seen anything like it. It’s like his wolf was torn out of him somehow. He thinks we did it. Hold on a sec—” Her words broke off as Connell started to run toward her.

A gust of strong air slammed him down to the ground before he cleared the rise.

“Stay there,” the sprite ordered in a glacial tone.

Frigid as the wind, he thought as he regained his footing. Hell, everything about her should be ice-cold. Instead, he felt like he was burning up around her. It was disconcerting. So was the hard edge in her voice. That kind of steel shouldn’t be coming out of such a tiny, doll-like girl.

“Yeah, yeah. It’s fine. He’s on a leash,” the imp said a touch smugly.

Connell growled low in his throat. At least that hadn’t changed. Prey the world over would still react instinctively in fear at that sound.

But the imp didn’t even blink. And she had heard him. She just hadn’t cared. She kept on talking like some gossipy housewife on the phone. Except she was addressing no one.

“Who the bloody hell are you talking to? Invisible fairies? Can anyone even hear you?” he asked incredulously.

THE SEVENTH PRINCESS

Worldsea Era #1

worldsea-1Claim the Sea … Embrace Destiny

In every generation a Princess is born to each island of Sawaiki, blessed with the power to control a single aspect of the natural world. Namaka’s power is arguably the most valuable of them all--in a world of archipelagos and endless ocean, she control the seas themselves.

The mer people of the Worldsea despise her for this power over their domain, all the more so because she can barely control her gift. At war amongst themselves, they harness this uncontrolled power by possessing Namaka with a mermaid spirit--turning her into one of them. As Namaka struggles to accept this new existence, she’s faced with conflict above the waves and war below. And if she cannot control her powers, both her worlds face annihilation.

Fans of mythology and Hawaiian gods should not miss this adventure.

THE BURNING PRINCESS

Worldsea Era #2

worldsea-2Passions flare and adventure erupts.

The explosive Princess of Flame, Pele, is on a mission. Her half-demon father has terrorized the Big Island long enough, burning and killing people for no crime worse than living. Even if Pele didn’t have an obligation to protect her people, she knows she has to stop her father’s reign of terror.

But Pele has more problems than just her father. A dark spirit haunts the site of her father’s last attack, a ghost even the kahuna cannot seem to banish. And now visitors arrive on the Big Island--unwelcome foreigners and the volatile Sea Princess herself. Pele cannot allow them to wreak the same devastation on her island they did on Namaka’s.

Each of these dangers demands attention. If the ghost is left alone it will become a Nightmarcher, a nightmare more dangerous to the people than even her father. The half-demon may hold a key to dispelling it, but his power far outweighs Pele’s. And the mermaid Princess wants something from the Big Island, something with the power to change the course of life on Sawaiki. Whatever that may be, it might be Pele’s best chance to save her island.

THE SNOW PRINCESS

Worldsea Era #3

worldsea-3The mountain peaks are freezing. She is colder still.

The Sea Princess is determined to drive the he’e from the mer capital. Namaka’s people have lost battle after battle, never able to stand up to the might of the octopus god-king’s army and magical powers. To win the war, Namaka turns to the brutal nanaue--weresharks feared by mer and he’e alike.

But the nanaue live on the island of the Snow Princess, Poliahu, a sorceress quick to anger. If Namaka is to succeed in recruiting the weresharks, she must first deal with this new Princess and her powers of mist and cold.

Poliahu doesn’t care about nanaue or he’e or politics. Her passion is the Art, taught to her by the snow spirits who raised her. Driven ever deeper into the Art, Poliahu is determined to become a sorceress unlike any other in history. She’s poised to do it, too, as long as she can keep the power of the Art from consuming her.
