GENRE:  Historical Romance

BLURB:

ROGUES REDEEMED

As heir to a title and great wealth, Will Masterson should have stayed home and tended his responsibilities. Instead he went to war. Now, after perilous years fighting the French, he intends his current mission to be his last. But all his plans are forgotten when he arrives in the small mountain stronghold of San Gabriel and meets her.

Knowing herself to be too tall, strong, and unconventional to appeal to a man, Athena Markham has always gloried in her independence. But for the first time in her life, she finds a man who might be her match.

Two of a kind, too brave for their own good, Athena and Will vow to do whatever it takes to vanquish San Gabriel’s enemies. For neither will back down from death, and only together can they find happiness and a love deeper than any they'd dared imagine...

Excerpt Two:

She stared at him, feeling as if time had stopped. She was sharply aware of the sweeping valley and mild breeze, the sunshine warming them both, his tanned complexion.

The bleak impossibility of what he was saying. “Forgive me if I’m misunderstanding, but are you actually proposing courtship?”

“Indeed I am. A courtship of two wary but wise adults.” He hesitated before continuing, “It’s possible I am too old and jaded to ever be fit for marriage again.”

“You’re not that old,” she said firmly.

He smiled a little. “Perhaps not. But I have seen too much of the world and made too many mistakes.”

“I often feel the same,” she said. “Perhaps that is why I interest you?”

“Very likely. I have trouble imagining myself making conversation with the typical well-bred young lady back in England.”

“No more than I could converse with an English country gentleman, the sort who cherishes delicate females,” she said wryly. “Which is one of several reasons I’ve sworn never to marry.”

“‘Never’ is a very long time. We change with age. Things that seemed implausible can come to seem desirable.”

“True in theory, but I’m settling happily into eccentric spinsterhood,” she retorted. “I doubt I’d change my mind.”

“But you do concede the possibility of changing your mind.” He smiled. “I can work with that.”

She couldn’t resist smiling back. “You’re very persistent, Will. But you haven’t much time to change my mind.”

“True,” he said thoughtfully. “Are you willing to experiment? My brother’s wife is full of interesting thoughts and theories. She said that courting couples meet under such artificial circumstances and see so little of each other that it’s far too easy to choose one’s life partner very badly.”

About Tobias Wade

Tobias WadeAs a child I constructed a spaceship capable of superluminal speeds powered by a fusion core reactor. The submission was denied by NASA on the grounds that it was made entirely of LEGOS. In high school I was told that I could do anything I wanted in life, while only being taught everything that I didn’t want to be. I probably deserved the detentions I received. In college I completed two bachelors of science in psychology and physiology and worked as a researching neuroscientist.

During my psychological studies it struck me as odd that I could learn so much about why humans behave without really understanding the intricacies of human nature. It occurred to me that I had learned more about the depths of human experience from reading Dostoyevsky than I ever had from my text books, and I was inspired to write professionally. I moved to Hollywood where I now write fantasy novels for IPP Books, perform script analysis for Underground Films, and write my own scripts through Creative I Works.

In my stories, scripts, and books I create surreal worlds which utilize abstract scenarios to illustrate my values. I am drawn to themes of individuality, personal enlightenment, and the subjective quest of defining our purpose. I glorify man’s will to overcome all obstacles within himself and the ability to find beauty in all things, even tragedy.

Rangers HD WMC 58mm CPL Filter

without filter

with filter

When I was a newbie to photography I purchased a set of cheap filters. They were ok but let’s just say, you get what you pay for. Over the years photography has grown from a mere interest to a full blown passion. I am always working towards bettering my skills and perfecting my craft. Living in the sunshine state, you can imagine that blown out photos is a problem I’m often faced with and not something that is easily corrected in Photoshop. And carrying around reflectors and whiteboards to take the harsh sun off my subjects isn’t always an option. I received the 58mm filter and my first impression was that I couldn’t believe how much smaller these are than my others. Seriously, we’re talking like half the size! But while they may be thinner, they are definitely not flimsy. It’s made to last and constructed of a solid material. While putting it on and removing it I don’t worry about breaking it. And they are so easy to use. They simply go right on and with a little twist they come off easily too! I haven’t experienced any issues so far and once it’s on it doesn’t fall off. As for whether it works or not… it does its job incredibly well. I took before and after test shots of a tree in my yard that was in direct sunlight and there was a noticeable difference in quality of the photos. The image with the filter has more vivid colors and isn’t blown out. Also looking at the shot you can’t tell that there was any filter the image is clear and I am highly impressed by the filter. I would even go so far as to say that this is a must have item whether you’re an amateur or a professional photographer.

eBoot 56 Pieces Miniature Ornament for DIY Fairy Garden Dollhouse Decor

4*

This set of 56 miniatures are very cute but a lot are to small to really do a lot with.  The little flowers could be glued onto something to make it cute but as for laying them around a Fairy Garden they kind of get lost. Other then them being really small these miniatures are adorable.I love all of the little animals in this set. The quality seems to be very good and the details are great. There are 10 animals, all different sizes, shapes, and looks, some are the same species. There are 10 lady bugs, these are just a bit bigger then life size. There are 10 mushrooms in 2 different sizes. There are 12 flowers in different colors and sizes. There are 2 light poles, 2 benches, a post box, a bridge, and 4 small buildings. A bendable fence, and a small resin fence. I may of forgot a couple things in this list.

These are really cute and can make a adorable fairy garden or small additions to a doll house.

I received this product during a promotion free for my honest review and they are 100% my own opinions. I received no compensation for this review and I am not required to give a good review. I am also not associated with the seller in any way.

Exceprt Tour: A Simple Vow by Charlotte Hubbard

A Simple Vow
by Charlotte Hubbard

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE: Inspirational Romance ( Amish)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

Housed in a rustic red barn, the Simple Gifts crafts shop celebrates the talents of the Amish of Willow Ridge—and the faith that inspires them. For the acceptance of simplicity opens the path to love.

As far as Edith Riehl is concerned, the baby twins thrust suddenly into her arms are a heaven-sent gift. Unable to conceive, she longs to be a mother with a home of her own. She’s going to abide by her promise to handsome Asa Detweiler to take care of them while he looks for their real father. And even if her domineering dat Cornelius refuses to countenance Asa’s suit, she can only pray the bachelor’s honesty and persistence will uncover the truth—even as he’s kindled an impossible hope for a love of her own…

Asa can’t understand why anyone would think he would be so dishonorable as to father babies and then abandon them. He’s determined to clear his name—but Edith’s caring ways also inspire him to help heal her wounded spirit and earn her trust. In the face of heartbreaking deception, he and Edith must find the strength to understand, forgive…and claim their own hearts’ joy.

EXCERPTS (Exclusive Exerpt):

The kitchen fell silent, so stuffy Edith longed to open a window—except Dat had always insisted that no one else rise from the table until he did. He didn’t like to feel rushed by women clearing away the dishes and removing leftover food.

Finally, he stood up. “After this afternoon’s work, I realize how short on replacement parts I am, so I’ll be leaving early tomorrow,” he remarked. “I like it that the trip to Kansas City is a lot shorter from here than it was from Roseville.”

Edith and her sisters nodded mutely.

“Make something substantial for breakfast so I won’t have to buy lunch along the way,” Dat continued. “I’ll let my new driver find his own meal while I’m at the clock repair store. Every little bit helps when it comes to economizing. Your mother stretched a dollar farther than anyone I’ve ever known.”

When he left the kitchen, Edith and her sisters sprang from their chairs. Rosalyn ran dishwater while Loretta scraped plates and Edith gathered the silverware and glasses. “I need to buy another canister of formula powder,” she murmured. “Dat will raise a ruckus if he sees the price sticker on the can Will left, so I’ll pay for it out of our stash. Please don’t tell him I’m buying it, or he’ll think we intend to defy him and keep the babies longer. But what else can I do? We don’t have enough to feed them through tomorrow.”

Rosalyn glanced out the kitchen window. “Folks are still over at the Grill N Skillet for the wedding, so Zooks Market’s not open, most likely.”

“Jah, the stores are all closed for the day,” Loretta reminded Edith. “The Witmers have closed the Grill N Skillet for its supper shift so folks can stay at the wedding party as long as they want to. Lydia and Katie Zook plan to help with the clean-up, too.”

“Hmm.” Edith stood between her sisters, assessing the wedding guests who sat clustered in lawn chairs behind the café. “Maybe if I ask Preacher Henry nicely, he’ll let me into his store just long enough to . . . or maybe I’ll have to go when they first open in the morning.”

“Go now, while Dat’s downstairs working,” Loretta suggested in a low voice.

“We’ll keep the babies quiet for you,” Rosalyn chimed in under her breath. “I haven’t gotten a gut look at them yet.”

“Me, neither. What’re their names?”

Edith gratefully grasped her sisters’ shoulders. “Denki so much—I won’t be long,” she promised. “Leroy and Louisa are such sweet little things. You can’t help but love them.”

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My Review:
When 19 year old Edith hears a commotion coming from the road she goes to investigate. When she sees 2 men arguing and hears the cries of baby she first stops to calm the baby to find twins in the back of a the buggy crying. She grabs up the babies then gives the 2 men a talking down too about scaring the babies. She realizes one of the men is the ex-fiance of her sister Will. But has no idea who the handsome stranger is.
After Edith's father broke off the engagement between Will and Edith's sister Loretta, will moved on with his life. He married Molly. Molly soon after giving birth to the twins dies from cancer leaving Will with the twins to raise. Not a big deal except that her last words told him the babies belonged to Asa.
Will goes looking for Asa and actually finds him, but does he have the right man. Asa tracks Will down to let him know he has no idea what Will is talking about and does not know Molly.
Will has brought the twins to Edith to raise for him until he can find the babies father and get his life straightened out. Asa pledges to find the father of these babies. But first falls for Edith at first site.
From there every ones lives are turned upside down and inside out. In the Amish community there is peace and love not lies, deceit, and mystery.
This is a very good book. It is fast moving and takes you through the lives on not only Edith and her family but also through the whole community of Willow Ridge. I very much enjoyed this book and cannot wait for the next book in the series.
Excerpt Two:
As Joturi-Nur’s breath slowed, Rishona wrapped her fingers around the jeweled hilt of his broad sword. She adjusted her balance and tilted the blade, trying to see Abartamor’s oversized figure at her back.
When at last the San’iloman laid still, the priest nodded to the princes. Abartamor’s heavy step sounded behind Rishona, along with the slow unsheathing of his sword.
I, the eldest son of Joturi-Nur, challenge your claim,” he said. “Face me, so that I may send you with my father to the Afterlife.”
Rishona spun, hands wrapped around the hilt of the scimitar, and cut deep into Abartamor’s protruding belly. The prince cried out as metal parted flesh. Blood sprayed across Rishona’s shimmering gown. Abartamor dropped his weapon and staggered backwards, eyes wide and lips quivering in protest.
What have you done?” he stammered. “My niece? A woman? It’s not possible…not permitted…”
He sat hard on the floor and stared dumbfounded at the entrails spilling from his belly.
Rishona strode forward and drove the scimitar into his thick neck. With a few vicious hacks, she cleaved Abartamor’s head from his torso. Tearing off her veil, she leveled the sword at his brothers and demanded, “Who else would challenge me?”
For several moments there was no sound but the gurgle of Arbartamor’s blood, pooling around Rishona’s satin slippers.
Then Paolus-Nur drew his weapon.
Excerpt:
(Please keep in mind that this is an unedited excerpt.)
“I will not propose to a woman to win an election.” Gerard Collins pinched the bridge of his nose and shoved himself away from the boardroom table.
He then turned his six-foot three-inch frame away from the table and stared at the ground and grimaced. His campaign manager, Barnie, was silent. Gerard assumed he gave the man time to adjust. Barnie always won elections. Gerard had hired him to ensure success, so he turned his big brown eyes toward the man and began his argument. “The Constitution doesn’t say a senator must be married.”
Barnie adjusted his glasses and sat back in his chair. “But the facts are, in America, single men don’t win elections.”
Gerard leaned closer to the table. This was an argument he had to win, and as a lawyer he’d always won his case. “Barnie, it could happen. I’m not on the ticket for President.”
“True, but you’ve dated far too many women in the past few years, and you are only thirty years old.” Barnie pushed his round glasses higher on his nose. Gerard pressed his lips together as Bernie explained in an even tone, “You need to appear stable. If you want to win this thing, then we need to get you a Jackie Kennedy to stand at your side.”
As he rubbed the five o’clock shadow on his chin, Gerard swallowed and glanced out the window toward the autumn grayness of Boston. While Gerard had no intention to win the election, he knew he had to do everything in his power to appear a true candidate. He sighed and shook his head.
“I’ll get the list in order.” Barnie stood and walked away from the table.
Victoria PinderAbout the Author:
Victoria Pinder grew up in Irish Catholic Boston before moving to the Miami sun. She’s worked in engineering, after passing many tests proving how easy Math came to her. Then hating her life at the age of twenty four, she decided to go to law school. Four years later, after passing the bar and practicing very little, she realized that she hates the practice of law. She refused to one day turn 50 and realize she had nothing but her career and hours at a desk. After realizing she needed change, she became a high school teacher. Teaching is rewarding, but writing is a passion.
During all this time, she always wrote stories to entertain herself or calm down. Her parents are practical minded people demanding a job, and Victoria spent too many years living other people’s dreams, but when she sat down to see what skill she had that matched what she enjoyed doing, writing became so obvious. The middle school year book when someone wrote in it that one day she’d be a writer made sense when she turned thirty.
