GENRE: Mystery Thriller

BLURB:

When Lydia Blackwell visits her dying father for the last time, he reveals the deeply hidden truth about her mother. After the funeral, the stranger Derek Meade gifts her with a gorgeous antique purse. But before she has the chance to connect with the man who knew her father intimately, Lydia finds Derek murdered in his home.

Lieutenant Sonja MacIntosh is assigned to investigate Mr. Meade’s death, but her career on the force never prepared her for Lydia Blackwell. As Sonja works to solve the murder, Lydia takes the greatest risk of her life in leaving Chicago to search for clues to her mother’s past. Their instant attraction surprises them both, but even through the chaos Lydia can’t deny the intensity of her feelings for the strong willed Lieutenant.

Lydia’s possession of the antique purse throws her already chaotic life into a whirlwind of kidnapping, blackmail, vengeful mob bosses, and mind-numbing revelations. Through it all, Lydia must find the strength to accept herself – and those closest to her – despite their darkest secrets.

Excerpt Two:

As she walked into the bedroom, the smell of her father’s cologne lingered even through all the sickness that had been in the air. Stepping over to the deep walk-in closet, Lydia opened the double doors to reveal her father’s suits, ties, and shoes. She made a mental note to have Rosita donate her father’s clothes so they didn’t hang like a shrine. She stared at every inch of the closet until her eyes fell on a small shoebox buried on the top shelf. Lydia retrieved the step-ladder from within a hidden compartment in the closet’s wall and stood on it to pull down the shoebox. Without thinking, she strolled over to her father’s bed, sat down, and went through all the memories kept in the cardboard box.

Many were just baby pictures of Lydia, and then she discovered a picture of her mother when she was pregnant. How beautiful she was; she looked so happy and carefree. What in the world could have happened? More questions, no answers. Lydia decided to keep the picture with her. Digging deeper yet into the box, she also found pictures of her father and Derek together. They made a handsome couple, though it was still difficult to believe her father had been involved with a man. At least true love hadn’t escaped him as she’d previously thought.

Breathe Again Essential Oil Synergy Blend - 100% Pure Therapeutic Grade: 10ml by Aviano Botanicals

I am a huge fan of essential oils. I have diffusers all over my house that are pretty much always running. I love essential oils not only for their scent but also for their healing qualities,

This Breath again oil from Aviano Botanicals is a great blend of oils that will help with breathing. If you have a cold, stuffy head, or allergies a few drops of this in a diffuser will definitely help with breathing. It i a mix of Peppermint, Rosemary, Spearmint, Lemon, Eucalyptus and Lavender Essential Oils. All of which by themselves will help with breathing, but as a blend it is a super air starter. Great even for a sick child to help them breath during the night. Never fails when kids are sick they get worse at night, This will help not only them but you also to get some sleep. You can also put a few drops on a cotton ball and keep it in a zip top baggie while out and about. Great for having with me with my allergies.

This is 100% pure essential oils. It comes in a amber glass bottle which helps protect the oil from harsh lighting. Harsh lighting can spoil essential oils quickly. Oils should be stored in cool dark areas for best shelf life.  The bottle has a screw on lid, inside it has what is called a euro dripper, it lets 1 drop at a time out of the bottle. It only takes a couple of drops of essential oils to fill a room with scent so this top is great.

Leibnitz Best & Brightest Cree LED White Headlamp Flashlight with Red LED lights

My husband is Lead Maintenance at the plant he works in. This means they break it he has to fix it. They have very large machines and more often then not he is fully inside the machine laying on his back, in a tight space using both hands in very low light. Now he is not in low light anymore. He now has this great headlamp by Leibnits Co.

It attaches via a elastic strap around his head, he can even wear it over his ball cap or his hard hat. The elastic band is adjustable for a comfortable fit to any head.

. The light is adjustable in more then one way. The headlamp itself can be moved around so the light shines in different directions. So straight on or at a 45 degree angle and points in between, .

It also has 4 light Settings: Ultra Bright Cree White LED Headlight, Low Beam, Red Beam and Red Flashing lights. He really lieks the adjustable lighting. some things need super bright light other it causes a glare if the light is to bright and makes it just as hard to see if not harder then low lighting.

The light runs on 3 AAA batteries which are not included. The switch for turning the light off and on is very easy to get to and very easy to scroll through. This light is also weather and impact resistant. The impact part is the part that is really great for my husband, he tends to bang his head a lot inside of the machines, They are very tight spaces.

This really is a great light, and since it is holding up with the torture my husband has put it through in the last week or so, it would be really great for outdoors, hiking, fishing, hunting. Really anything you need a flashlight for and both hands.

Super Absorbent, Quick-Drying Kitchen Dish Cloths (Set of 5) by Fabresh

I like to hand wash my dishes. I guess I am old school . I just feel like they get cleaner and nothing gets cooked on like with a dishwashers drying cycle. These dish cloths are great for hand washing dishes as well as wiping counters and other kitchen cleaning tasks.

I love the size of them, they are 12 by 12 inches. They aren't real thick, but yet they are not paper thin either. Their thickness is just fright for me I don't end up with a hand full of cloth that makes it hard to wash the dishes. Even wet they are super absorbent and can clean a spill off of the counter or table. I hand my washcloth over the sink separator when not in use, and more often then not the cloth is dry the next time I go to grab it. Even some of the thin cloths I have used are not that quick to dry. These go through the washer and dryer very well too, with very minimal shrinkage. They do seem to go back to original size as soon as they get wet again though.

I love that there are 5 in the pack. That is a weeks worth of cloths for me. I may not get a new cloth every time I do dishes, but I also use them for wiping down the kitchen as well.

Bamboo Wood Charging Stand Bracket Docking Station by Kollea

Very nice stand and its nice looking too. This stand is made of bamboo. There is no wood smell to it. A lot of times wooden products have a smell to them when they arrive and sometimes it can be quit strong. Bamboo has very little if any smell to it. This is a multi dock it holds tablet, phones, and the apple watch. The great thing about it is it is not just for apple products. I have a RCA tablet, a Samsung phone, and a plain old every day watch, and they all fit just as well as the apple products. This will hold 2 tablets, a phone, and a watch, The piece that holds the watch goes in by magnets, so it is easily removed for adding or changing power cords, and if you want to take it on the go, it will will lay almost flat and fit nicely into luggage or a briefcase. There is also 3 spots for ink pens or stylus, so a great desk accessory. There are cut out to feed the charging cables in through, o the wires are nice and neatly tucked away.  This really is a nice charging station. It would also make a great gift.

Chef Asher Latest Instant Read Digital Kitchen Thermometer

I really like this instant read thermometer from Chef Asher. I love how it is small and easy to store. Doesn't take up a lot of room in the drawer. I like that it has a sheath to protect it while in the drawer, since I have lots of other gadgets in the drawer as well. I really love that the sheath attaches to the top of the thermometer while using it and I can keep my hand that much further away from the heat. I have had several thermometer and while some of them do have a sheath non of them hook on top like this one. By hooking on top I mean it like taking a cap off of a pen and putting on top of the barrel, and it is just that easy too..

In total the thermometer is about 12 inches long. The stainless steel probe is almost 8 1/2 inches long. With adding the sheath to the end of the thermometer it is about 20 inches long. No more hot hands. Great while frying because your hand is far enough away you do not grease burns either.

This has a nice and easy to read digital display. This will read from -52 to 572 degrees Fahrenheit. It reads rather quickly, usually withing 5 to 10 seconds. To preserve batteries, which come installed, it will shut itself off after 5 minutes. Comparing with another thermometer I have there was about a 2 degree difference, I am not positive which if either are spot on, but I am not gonna complain about 2 degrees.
