The story chronicles their effortless interrelations and later exposes the testing of their deep bonds, and introduces the reader to an array of supporting characters who alter the boys’ lives forever. The Urban Boys offers young and mature readers central themes of loyalty, responsibility, honesty, fear, and triumph, which become artfully integrated with cinematic-level action and high drama.

We wonder, will they pass the test of fate, and will each of us pass the test of our very own lives? Intriguing, intelligent, and full of action, The Urban Boys offers a memorable, emotion-packed, thrilling ride for traditional and digital readers of all ages! (first in a series)

Praise for The Urban Boys:

"An energetic YA adventure debut with stellar action sequences. Smith's writing is intelligent and often lyrical. Her exuberant prose never fails to dazzle."- Kirkus Media

"Author K.N. Smith uses her mastery of the written word to weave an entrancing, yet powerful tale of adventure that keeps you turning pages in an unquenchable desire to find out what happens next. The author's matchless prose details cinematic fight sequences and fully developed characterizations especially in a final, stupendous scene that will take your breath away and leave you limp with spent emotions. Five stars for this imaginative and inspiring story, sure to be as appealing to general audiences as it will be to the YA crowd!" 5-stars - Publishers Daily Reviews

"I LOVE to read, but live a hugely busy life. It gets more complicated upon that rare occasion when a book is so captivating, so enthralling, that it is impossible to walk away. With only definitive hours in a day, something has to give. For me, that was sleep! And it was worth every sacrificed minute. “The Urban Boys” was the grand slam home run and exceeded my wildest expectations and I would bet, maybe yours, as well. Totally new concepts and a rich crew of characters – good, bad and ugly… and suspenseful twists that keep you guessing, and such beautiful, strong writing! A must read for fans of YA action/adventure/fantasy!!" 5-stars - Indie Book Reviewers

INTERVIEW  with K.N. Smith:

How did you do research for your book?
Even though The Urban Boys is a work of fiction, I still did research for the book. Because there are two distinct towns mentioned in the book, I wanted to be sure I wasn't using actual names of towns already established. I searched as far and wide as I could and came up with what you see in the book, and these two towns are about as different as you can get. I also researched the meanings of some of the characters’ names, and other things.

Which was the hardest character to write? The easiest?
The character that was the most difficult to write was Mrs. Perkins. She is filled with mystery herself, although she works diligently to not show it. Nice, quiet, always smiling and waving. Is there something behind her smile? Keep reading and you'll find out! Mason was probably the easiest character to write. He's lovable, and he loves his big brother, Jordan.

Do you ever get writer’s block? What helps you overcome it?
With respect to writers block, I really don't experience that when I'm writing a novel because my outline is so organized and laid out I know exactly where the story is going. I'm always thinking of things to add to the stories, and I've developed a system of capturing those ideas, so in a way, that helps me overcome stumbling blocks.

What is your writing schedule?
When I'm writing a book I keep a very rigorous schedule. I write 1,000 words per day to completion, and sometimes more. Although we all have busy days doing many things, there's always time to squeeze in a bit of writing. It becomes important to guard my time so I can get through the novel. In other words, unless the house is on fire, I'll be out when I'm done. Just slide my food under the door. Really, I'll be fine!

What advice would you give budding writers?
My advice to budding writers is to get down to it and start writing today. We tend to overthink things to the point where our thoughts consume more of our time than the writing does. Just start somewhere with a few words on the page each day and realize the progress you actually made. Less talking, more doing! You're a star in the making, so what are you waiting for?

For Anna Celeste Burke life is an extravaganza! Figuring out how to hang tough and make the most of the wild ride is the challenge. On my way to Oahu, to join the rock musician and high school drop-out I had married in Tijuana, I was nabbed as a runaway. Eventually, the police let me go, but the rock band broke up. Our next stop: Disney World, where we ‘worked for the Mouse’ as chefs, courtesy of Walt Disney World University Chef’s School training. More education landed us in academia at The Ohio State University. For decades, I researched, wrote, and taught a number of gloriously nerdy topics. Retired now, I’m still married to the same, sweet, guy and live with him near Palm Springs, California. I write mysteries set in sunny California! The Jessica Huntington Desert Cities Mystery series, set here in the Coachella Valley, the Corsario Cove Cozy Mystery Series set in California’s Central Coast, and The Georgie Shaw Cozy Mystery series set in the OC. Coming soon, The Misadventures of Betsy Stark that also take place, here, in the Coachella Valley.

Mary Crawford has been lucky enough to live her own version of a romance novel. She married the guy who kissed her at summer camp. He told her on the night they met that he was going to marry her and be the father of their children. Eventually she stopped giggling when he said it, and they just celebrated their 27th wedding anniversary. They have two children. The oldest is in medical school, where he recently found and married the love of his life, and the youngest is still in elementary school.

Ms. Crawford writes full time now. She has published six books and has several more underway. She volunteers her time to a variety of causes and has worked as a Civil Rights Attorney and diversity advocate. Ms. Crawford spent several years working for various social service agencies before becoming an attorney. In her spare time, she loved to cook, decorate cakes and of course, obsessively, compulsively read.

Allyson R. Abbott.
I love to travel, but I also need to work. Being an author allows me to combine both of activities and has the added bonus of life being an adventure. I never know where I will be sitting writing from one year to the next. As I write this, I am in Africa, in spring I travel to Europe for a few months and later in the year to the USA and Canada. It is a great life, if you don’t mind a little insecurity.

I try to bring a little of my adventurous personality into my stories. Being a 'mature aging gracefully' woman, I feel akin to the problems of aging and relationships. I spent many years on my own before finding my truly remarkable and very patient partner who I happily gave up my whole world for. My stories are about mature relationships with mature people. People who have character and humour, who have a history; people just like us.

Adrienne D'nelle Ruvalcaba was born and raised in Southeast Texas. After high school, she joined the U.S. Army and served four years at Fort Campbell, KY. After her army days, and one failed attempt at marriage, she and her two children relocated so that she could enroll in the Engineering program at Southern Illinois University Carbondale. While there, she completed her Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a concentration in structural analysis. Also while at SIU, she was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus. This diagnosis significantly changed her life.

Since the onset of SLE, she has learned a lot about those close to her and even more about herself. After a few years of struggling to accept lupus as part of her life, she has come to a more peaceful place, and no longer lets her disease define who she is.

Adrienne has had a love of writing since grade school, and she often takes solace in the many worlds she creates in her imagination. She writes women's fiction and romance, and her books are meant purely for emotional fulfilment, enjoyment, and sweet escapism. Real life is difficult enough, and she believes that we all need a little break from it sometimes.

US Art Supply Halloween Face Paint 12-Piece Long Handle

Although these paint brushes are sold to use with face paint I am using them to paint other things with. I do a lot of crafts and use a lot of paint in those crafts. I love the size range of this set of paint brushes. There are 12 different paint brushes in the set. They come in a awesome zippered case. Each paint brush is fit into its own compartment so they are not bouncing around in the case. This is really great when painting I am not having to search for the brush I want. This is also great for taking on the go, and for storage purposes. These paint brushes are great fr novices and crafters like me, and would also be great for more advanced to professional users. The bristles are made form premium nylon hair so they are soft.

E-PRANCE kitchen Knife Sharpening with 3 Stages

I love the feel of control in my hand that this knife sharpener gives me. I also love the way it sharpens, and that it sharpens them quickly. This is a 3 Stage knife sharpener it features 3 sharpening heads: Emery, Wolfram Steel, and Ceramic. It really only takes a couple of swipes across the heads and your knife is sharp and ready to go. It has a non slip base on the bottom so I can set it on the table or counter and it will not slip around. Which is great I am not a fan of cutting myself.

This is one of those kitchen gadgets that will truly get a lot of use in my house. I love to cook and I cook from scratch, no boxed dinners in my house. I have several sets of knives, but a few are my favorites and I use them pretty much daily. I like to keep my knives razor sharp and this knife sharpener does just that. Cutting with a dull knife is no fun. It may not cut the food well but it sure can take a chunk out of a finger. Keeping knives sharp is very important to my cooking style. I hate crushing tomatoes with dull knives. A dull knife also causes slipping which can get fingers.

I am very happy with this knife sharpener and have thrown away the one I was using before I got this one. This would also make a great gift or to use as part of a gift basket.

E-PRANCE Manual Citrus Juicer , Stainless-Steel

Great lemon squeezer. This is heavy duty stainless steel construction and works great on not only lemons. I have used it on pitted cherries, a wide variety of berries, as well as lemons and limes, Even works well on tangerines. The juicer is about 8 1/2 inches long so I can get a really good grip on the handles. The 2 pieces have a riveted connection and should last a really long time. The holes in the bottom of the juicer are pretty much perfect in size as I do like some pulp in my juice. It is not to big though where I get more pulp then juice. This is dishwasher safe but is very easy to clean up with just warm soapy water. I am to say the least very happy with this juicer.

10ft Micro USB Cable, Boxeroo 2 Pack 3M Premium Nylon Braided High Speed Data Sync Charger Cord

I am loving these 10 foot Micro USB cables. They are working very well with the kids and their tablets. I can plug in the cable to a wall charger and the kids can set in the living room on the couch or the chair either one and use their tablets while plugged in. They are also great for the car. The kids can use their tablets while riding in the back seat. There is plenty of cable for where ever they are. I have to say I really love that. No more whining about having to wait on their tablets to charge. Th cable ends fit tightly into the wall or car charger and the devices as well. I also use these cables to relax in my chair with my phone and tablet as well. I love that these are the braided type cables. To me they just seem to last longer then the plastic coated wires.

Ohuhu Shiatsu Deep Kneading Massage Pillow with Heat

This deep heating massage pillow is pretty close to being heavenly. It is a little hard, which is my only problem with it. Other then that t is amazing. This pillow comes with a wall plug in and a car charger as well. So it is great for everywhere you go. It features both clock wise and counter clockwise  kneading and also optional heat. There is a elastic strap which hooks nicely over the head rest in my car. In the right chair this strap will stretch to work for anywhere on your back and neck. I have a lot of lower back pain and this works great for helping that. I just set it in my chair and lean back. The controls are on the cord so I can lean on it and with a push of a button change from heat or no heat and clockwise to counter clockwise. I am very happy with this message pillow, just wish it had a little more give to it.
