Meet the author:

Stan Holden, owner of The LooneyBin Creative Studio, has created work for many Fortune 100 companies. As a protégé, he was first published in a national magazine during the 5th grade. A graduate of California University Long Beach, his screenplay, Rebel Without A Claus, has received a "recommend" by Disney and optioned for filming. He resides in Irvine, CA, with his wife, Reneé, and their two teenagers, Sara and William.

1. How did you come up with the concept of the book?

As a professional artist most of my career, it occurred to me that there are not a lot of business books written by artists (and for good reason, many of us are flakey and not necessarily good at business)! I took a deep look at the successful design studio I ran for years and realized that one of the major reasons I succeeded was not because I was such a great designer... but because I was a connector, I was easy and fun to work with and I enjoyed helping my clients (and competition). I had written a few stories for Chicken Soup For The Soul and thought that a business book written with more sentiment and emotion (from the perspective of an artist) was needed. I also realized that as an artist I tend to do things outside of the box... why not apply and teach that to others as it applies to business and relationships in a practical way?

2. Where did you get the title and what does it mean?

Many of my advertising agency clients would come to me as a hired gun—so-to-speak—for conceptual writing and fresh ideas. Meaning, I would create catchy headlines, ideas and concepts for campaigns that their internal creative people would take and then expand on. I am fond of "double entendres" and playing with words, so I wanted a title that would make people think and then be attracted to. In this case, I took what is normally taken as a negative (Taking Candy From Strangers) and turned it around into a positive, Giving Candy To Strangers. Which is also the core philosophy of the book—turning things around and giving! As a side note to that, I designed the cover of the book before I ever wrote a word. Normally, you do not design your own cover much less do it before the book is written... but I like to do things differently.

3. How important is the heart to the marketing process?

Easy answer, it's the most important part and the beginning of everything! It is where all ideas and creation start. Whether it be choosing to do something creatively or creating a new relationship. Einstein said, "Imagination is more important than knowledge," even as a scientist he understood this. It all starts in the heart, including imagination, and then moves to your head. Apple computer understands this at a deep level. Their products fill a need at an emotional level before a practical level. I have had the pleasure of working on many projects for Apple and that philosophy permeates throughout the entire company... from accounting, to marketing. You have to move people to move business and that starts with the heart.

I was kind of skeptical of these tanning wipes I will admit. I was a little afraid I would look orange or they would not work at all. When they came in I opened the box. Each towelette is individually wrapped. So I took out 1 packet, I opened it up and there was a white towelette inside that looked like a baby wipe. I was like ok, they forgot to put the stuff on it. So I reread the box and applied by the directions. I put it on my thigh first, since I figured if It didn't work out, I could wear jeans for a couple of days and no one would know. I then set in my chair staring at my leg waiting. After about 10 minutes my leg did change colors. I am very happy with the color it changed to. It was not a orange color but it actually does look like a tan. I then pulled the towelette out of the zip lock bag I put it in and continued applying it all over my legs and the rest of me that I wanted to look tanned. It did take 3 towelettes to cover everything and and I also used one for touch ups. Since this does go on clear you can and will miss a few spots here and there. So far I have had this on for about 4 days and although it has lightened up some I can still see the tan. I do like these towelettes and the ease of use.

Suncreen "Protectan": Innovative Moisturizer Daily Sunblock from Thermalabs

Most people think sunscreen is not important during the winter, but as long as the sun shines it is important to protect your skin. Thsi sunscreen not only protects your skin from the harmful UV rays of the sun it also moisturizes. During the winter we all need moisturizer more then any other time of the year. My skin gets very dry in the winter to the point of it cracking in places like on my fingers.
  This sunscreen does not have much of an odor at all and what it does have is not coconut, it is more of a vitamin smell but it is very light and pretty much goes away as it dries into your skin.
  I have used a few other products from Thermalabs and I love them all. They are all very high quality products and do what they say they will. I will be buying more of this sunscreen in the future. It does come in a large 5 ounce tube and should last a pretty long time.

 This is my favorite power bank I own. I own a few different ones but non of them have quick charge, only one has 2 charge ports and this one has 4. This one also has a smart display on the front of the power bank but it is not a LCD screen like on most products, this one doesn't have the glass screen. When it is turned off you cannot tell there is a screen there, but when you turn it on it lights up through the front cover.
 I love that it shows you how much charge is on each device plugged into the power bank. This will also allow you to charge your devices while the bank  itself is being charged.
  It is a little large to carry in a shirt pocket and a little heavy, but it is well worth the extra effort. It is 3.2 x 1 x 4.4 inches and weighs 9.8 ounces. Great fr travel. Motels never have enough empty wall sockets for all the devices we carry, so this one with it's 4 ports can be plugged into the wall and you can charge 4 devices and only use 1 wall plug. It also has a built in flashlight.

Atalanta® Meat Claws

Great set of meat Claws. These seem to be very strong and durable. I made a chicken in the crockpot, and used these to lift it out, they worked great no bending or slipping.  After getting the chicken out of the crockpot they made short work of shredding the chicken. I put it on a large baking sheet and started ripping and tearing. It was actually easy to pick the bones out afterwards too. I didn't want my chicken to fine and it was great to be able to have full control. They came in a small cardboard box which is great to keep them stored in, in my pantry so I am not having to search through drawers to find both. They were easy to clean up with some hot soapy water but could also go in a dishwasher. The hand grips are nice, not to big and not to small, the outer side is smooth the inner side where your fingers are is kind of rough so to speak in order to help you hold on even after your fingers get greasy and slippery from the meat. I also think these would be great for using like a salad tong. I was given these in exchange or my honest review, and honestly I would of paid full price, now that I have had a chance to try them.

This is a beautiful watch. It comes packaged very well also. It comes in a very nice gift box with a pillow that the watch is fitted around, and you even get a nice gift bag.
 The face of the watch is a very nice size and the hands are large enough to see very easily. It is a gold toned watch. The band is a red and blue ribbon type nylon band that the watch slides back and forth on. The band is adjustable so you do not have t worry about it being too big or too small. It also has a calendar on the face.
 This watch has all the features of very expensive watches. It is water proof up to 100 feet. It has quartz movement.  It has a sapphire crystal lens and a stainless steel scratch-resistant case. This is a 31 mm face about the size of a US Half Dollar. It is very lightweight also.
  I am very happy with this watch. I have only had it about a week but it has kept perfect time. This would make a great gift for any woman or even for yourself.

Atalanta® Color Liquid Chalk Marker Pens-8 Pack

I love these liquid chalk markers. We have used a few different brands of chalk markers, and these work just as good if not better then those. These have a great solid non bubbling line. I like that the tip is reversible. One side is a wide line the other is a fine point. It is not totally fine but it does make a nice skinny line. The colors are very bright and vibrant. My Daughter likes to take the chalk markers to work and she decorates the nurses station for all the holidays and different seasons. They also have a spot for birthdays. My Daughter works at a Health and Rehab center. The residents and families love seeing the artwork.
  There are 8 pens in the set. There is lots of ink and as long as the lids are kept on correctly, they do not dry up. They come in a reclosable case. These markers are not meant for regular chalkboards or any other porous surface. They work great on glass, dry erase boards, and things like that. They also work great on canisters to let you know at a glance what is inside. I also have a 11 X 13 picture frame. I put a black sheet of paper inside and use it with the neon colors for a note board.
