GENRE: YA Sci-fi

BLURB:

Nyl Jayms is tasked with kidnaping the Elder princess, to force her brother, the king, to negotiate with humans. The alternative is a war that could lead to the annihilation of both humans and Elders.

A Rider Council faction, led by Nyl’s father, is opposed to any negotiations. They will do anything, including sabotaging his assignment, to trigger a war.

Nyl and his team have to outsmart the king’s elite Royal Guard, to get to the princess, and somehow stay one step ahead of the faction opposed to negotiations. Everyone will be forced to re-evaluate ideology they were raised with, as an impending war looms ever closer.

Join these elite teenage rebel warriors on a journey of war, betrayal, and political scheming, in Until We Are Free. In this debut novel from TM Blayte, faces of friends, family, allies and enemies will blur. Loyalties will be tested, until the determination to be free becomes the only thing that matters. After all, does one person’s freedom mean another person’s oppression?”

EXCERPTS (Exclusive Excerpt):

We enter the sitting room, weapons at the ready, to find Mom sitting on the edge of her seat, staring at the TV. There are glass shards at her feet, but I don't think she notices them. I glance at the TV and see Eryque Baartman speaking calmly. Rider News Broadcast, R&B, the rebel secret station.

“We are still working on details of the death,” he says. My blood drops several degrees. Whose death would bring the Mediator himself to the screen? Most such announcements are handled by Assistant Propagandists.

“What I can tell you right now, as a certainty, is that it was murder. The body was found not far from HQ about an hour ago. Three bullets to the chest, I believe. I encourage all Riders not to panic, and that we have our best people working on this.”

Baartman goes off screen.

“Who is it Mom?” I ask. “Mom!” She doesn't respond, transfixed by the screen.

The anchor comes back, “That was Mediator Baartman, giving us a statement on the attack by unknown intruders, who attacked several Riders at HQ. The only news we have so far is that Secretary Green is critically injured, and Shadow President Churchdoor lost her life . . .”

“And Dad!”

“I'm here!” a voice says from the door. I didn't even hear the front door opening. How long had he been in the house?

“Get ready,” Dad says, “there will be a meeting of all Rider leaders. You can attend on my invitation if you want. I fear the time for negotiating, is over. They have crossed the line. This is a battle cry. They've drawn first blood, and theirs shall now flow until the word Elder becomes a curse of death and destruction.”
