BLURB:
My Purpose for writing this novel is to bring generations of women together. My goal is to build a sense of camaraderie that resonates with women of all ages. For the older generations this novel acts as a time capsule. The novel is filled with so many emotions that the reader will laugh, cry, and feel as though the characters have come to life. As for the younger generations, they are able to learn some of life’s lessons and know that other women have gone through similar circumstances that they may be experiencing.

Excerpt One:
He hugged me tightly for so long I wondered if he’d ever let me go. Our cigarettes developed the longest ashes I ever saw. As mine finally fell to the ground, I was reminded of how quickly I fell for Johnny and how our relationship had been burning for the last three years. Eventually, we, too, like that ash, would fall. We would end up a memory of something that burned so deeply into our souls and it too would eventually turn to ash.
Such thoughts swirled through my mind, as I drove without a destination. Eventually, I found myself at the park where Johnny and I went that fateful night when he showed me the secret overlook and took my virginity and my innocence. I decided to park the car, then I grabbed my emergency blanket, flashlight, and cigarettes and walked toward the precipice where it all began.
A tear fell down my cold wet cheek. I sighed and gave him my heartbreaking answer. “Honestly?” I held back my tears as best I could. “I want you to leave me alone, Johnny. I want you to love me enough to let me go. I want you to help me finally get over you by staying the hell away from me. I want you to stay out of my life and let me be. Please, Johnny, I’m begging you.
“I want to be happy. I deserve that, and you of all people know it. Since I can’t have it with you,” I said, crying a little harder, then I deserve to have it with someone else. So, please, Johnny, if you love me like you say you do, you’ll let me go.”

ReplyDeleteHi Teresa!! Thanks so much for hosting me and #TheDetailsofMyReality today!
ReplyDeleteI am really enjoying following this tour, thank you for all the great blog posts and excerpts!
ReplyDeleteThank you very much! I'm glad you are along for the ride. Last week I had the strangest dream and woke up to write this:What's in a dream? Visions of the subconscious revealing themselves? Involuntary emotions that make their way to the surface?
DeleteNo. It's YOU. You're there. And I don't understand why? You're gone. But yet you continue to haunt me.
WHAT is it that you want from me? To say goodbye? You're sorry? Or perhaps you have unfinished business with me?
But when I see you in my sleep, I wake up and it's hard for me to believe you're not here. Because you're not. You left. Yet the dreams are so real that it feels as if I'm losing you all over again.
So again I'll ask, why? #writingwednesday #dreamsvsreality
Do you ever feel haunted by your past in this way?
I enjoyed reading about your book; congrats on the tour and thanks for the chance to win :)
ReplyDeleteThanks again for stopping by Lisa! Do you feel the excerpt has spoken to you at all? What are your initial thoughts and feelings from reading it?
DeleteThat's such a heartbreaking excerpt. Unfortunately it's a scenario many of us go through, sometimes time & time again.
ReplyDeleteHi Kate! You're right. It truly is. Heartbreak is intertwined throughout #TheDetailsofMyReality on many levels. In this excerpt the main character loves so much and so hard but is learning that sometimes that simply isn't enough. Love's not complicated. People are. And as she soon learns, the hardest kind of love may actually be letting go for as passion and pain coexist, so does love and loss. But I think the key is for women to learn that their choices can make all the difference. And once we realize, own it, and make the better choices, our lives and love will reflect it.
DeleteThis sounds like an amazing book!
ReplyDeleteThank you Victoria! I poured my heart and soul in this book as the characters came to life page by page. I'm extremely proud of it and it is my sincere hope that you will take the time to read it and pass it along to other women. We are all connected in this life as women and I feel as though this book can bring us that much closer to understanding; because we've all been there..... In one way or another. #TheDetailsofMyReality is defintely a book that will resonate with you long after its read. So please, enjoy! Happy reading!
DeleteSounds like a great book.
ReplyDeleteThanks Rita! As I think back on my writing process and my purpose I can't help but pray that people love this book as much as I do.
DeleteWhat is your favorite type of book to read? Thanks for the giveaway. I hope that I win. Bernie Wallace BWallace1980(at)hotmail(d0t)com
ReplyDeleteMy favorite type of book to read is any that makes the wheels in my head turn, tugs at the strings in my heart, and keeps me guessing until the end.
ReplyDeleteThanks again for hosting today! Great convo and questions!!
ReplyDeleteI so agree with you Katie when you say that it isn't love that's complicated, it's people.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it so true, Kate?! To think of every love story every written and to look back at or own lives, it all makes perfect sense. People are what complicate everything. We all have different backgrounds, etc. But when it comes down to it, our stories are similiar... It's the #details that are different and make them special and ours.
DeleteLooks like we've got company (above). Hope it hasn't affected the whole tour.
ReplyDeleteYes. They need blocked.
