I woke to Jaken's lips on the back of my neck.
"Good morning."
"Morning," he said as he kissed me again.
His kisses distracted me up to the point when his hand
covered my breast.
I moaned and it sounded more like a question, but not a
protest. He stopped kissing me. I looked at him over my left shoulder.
"Don't stop."
He continued sliding his tongue up the curve on the side of
my neck as his hands went from over my shirt to under it. He made no attempt to
take it off.
I pressed into him. He groaned. I groaned back, loving the
sound.
He pulled away, and as I leaned back, he looked into my eyes
as his hand moved down my stomach and into my shorts. He rested his hand on my
pelvic bone, and I said a silent pray of thanks for getting that wax the other
day. I felt bad about praying for something like that, but then he touched me,
and all I could think...
Oh, my God, that feels good.
I moaned and my head fell back. I closed my eyes and his
fingers continued to do things to me I didn't know were appropriate for a man
who made his living with his hands. He hit one spot with his middle finger and
I gripped his hand.
"Please," I whispered.
"Please what?" he said, and his tone made me open
my eyes, his breath hot on my cheek.
"Don't stop." He gave me that grin again, kissed
my nose, and pushed his fingers deeper between my legs.
"You want to come for me, baby?”
We had our eyes locked on each other, and the way he spoke
to me, I felt like I was doing this for him instead of the other way around. A
sense of pride swelled in my chest as a sense of something else swelled in my
center.
"Yes," I said.
"Okay, come for me." He commanded.
I knew it was his fingers. The blood had rushed to the area
he manipulated with them, but I swear I could have come on command even if he
wasn't touching me. His voice had that kind of power. My toes curled and my
fingers dug into his forearm. A wave of whatever power orgasms were made of
rushed over me.
"That's it, baby," he whispered in my ear as I
came back to the here and now. He swung a leg over me, as his phone on the
nightstand began to buzz. We both looked at it.
"Oh, you're kidding me," I said.
He started laughing as he rolled over and sat on the edge of
the bed. He turned off the alarm and turned back to me.
"I'm sorry." He leaned over and kissed me. "I
have a tee time. I have to go."
"Fine, leave me here in bed alone." I flopped
back. "Again."
"Well, at least this time I finished what I
started." He headed into to the bathroom chuckling.
"Then why do I want more?" I asked myself.

Praise for A New Season

"I loved how the backstory was leaked in a little at a
time to keep you hooked up until the end.. it was just really perfect!" -
Amber@WickedGoodReads

"Ok, I admit it: I just really enjoy a good sports
romance. This is certainly that, but it's more too as the characters are
nuanced and well developed. String writing and a very nicely done plot. Truly
enjoyable and, of course, therefore recommended!" -The Mysterious Amazon

Trucker by Marteeka Karland blitz

Trucker
Marteeka Karland
(Bones MC, #6)
Published by: Changeling Press
Publication date: February 28th 2020
Genres: New Adult, Romance
Helen — I’ve made some bad choices in my life. The worst was falling for a man who kidnapped me and held me hostage. He wants my baby. Why, I have no idea, but there’s no way he’s getting it without a fight. Once this is over, assuming I’m still alive, I’m going to need some serious help.
Trucker — The small redhead blows me away at first sight. And not only because of the knife sticking out of her very pregnant belly. She’s fierce as a tiger. Brave as any member of Bones. I know I have to protect her, no matter what kind of trouble she’s in. Once she’s healed, I know she’s going to be mine. I just have to convince her of it. Until then, I’ll protect her, and her kid, with my very life. Once the asshole who did this is dead, then I’ll prove to her why I’m the best choice to be her man.
WARNING: These men play for keeps, and they don’t tolerate men who hurt women and children. They protect their own to the death, and God help anyone who gets in their way. Don’t expect the warm and fuzzies, but you can always expect a HEA and a steamy good time.
EXCERPT:
“You said you were already several weeks pregnant when all this happened. Where’s the father?”
She looked away again, ashamed. “No idea. I met him at a bar. We got drunk and had a good time. Obviously we weren’t careful, and the next thing I know, I’m making a few changes to my life.” She looked back, needing to judge Trucker’s reaction. She didn’t expect the big grin she found. “What?”
“Nothin’,” he said, raising his hands, a gesture of surrender. “Just thinkin’ that if your baby daddy ain’t around, that makes my life a lot simpler.”
Helen couldn’t help it. Her jaw dropped and the breath left her lungs. “How can you even say that? How horrible!” She wanted to punch him right in the mouth. “I’m all alone. My child has no father, and I’ve just been through the most horrific thing I’ve ever imagined! How can me not having someone around to protect me and my daughter be a good thing?”
Trucker was completely unapologetic. “Means you’ll need someone around to fill that gap.” He shrugged. “Sounds like your baby daddy ain’t qualified in that department so I’ll have to take over.”
She blinked, not sure she’d heard him correctly. “I beg your pardon?”
“I said, I’m taking over as your baby daddy.” The man was grinning like an ape, obviously finding the whole situation hilarious.
“Would you stop saying ‘baby daddy’? I hate that!”
“Sorry. Let me rephrase. I’ll be taking over as protector for you and your daughter. You’ll stay here with me and the rest of the club, and you’ll have all the help and safety you need.”
“Do I get a say in this?”
“Do you want a say in this?” Again, his gaze was intense. He seemed to look straight into her soul when he wanted to. Helen wanted what he was offering more than just about anything else in the world right now. She wanted that security. But was it real? Had she traded one prison for another? “Or do you want me to make the decision for you?”
“I…”
“That’s what I thought. You’re afraid, and that’s natural. I think you want someone to force your hand.” He picked up her hand again, and this time she didn’t pull away. “You have to be here for a while anyway to heal. Get to know us. I promise you’ll feel better about the whole thing.” While he talked to her, he slowly brought her hand to his lips.
When he finished, he kissed her fingers gently, his mouth lingering far longer than she should have let him. Helen’s stomach rolled. It was the first intimate contact she’d had since her one-night stand. She tried to put down her reaction to lack of human contact, but she doubted that was the only reason for it.
She burned at his simple touch. Shivers raced over her body, and she broke out in a light sweat. Then he turned her hand over and brought her palm to his lips. Inhaling, he closed his eyes and kissed the center. When he exhaled, he opened his eyes and stared straight into hers. There was longing there. Not just a sexual hunger, though that was present too, but something inside him that connected with something inside her. He’d been with her nearly the entire time she’d been at the Bones clubhouse. He’d been unfailingly gentle. He was good with her daughter, whom she’d yet to name. Now, he indicated he wanted to share more with her. Was she ready?
No. Not yet. But she could feel her resistance to him wasn’t what it should be. Trucker could break down those walls with little effort. The question was, how long would he try before he gave up? How long did she want to resist him?

Goodreads / Amazon

EXCERPT:

He set off across the street, and she followed, not wanting to be alone in this city of death. Her heel crunched in glass fragments. He held up the tape that designated this a crime scene, and she ducked under it. It was all pretend. She saw herself doing everything, looking like an actor on a cop show.

The car riddled with bullet holes belonged to the movie too. The prop crew had put that tire there for her to cower behind for safety from the gunfire. She peered down at the space where she’d taken shelter from the danger, the place where Lena had pushed her to protect her when the shooting started.

She gulped down the lump in her throat. The last thing Lena did in this life was save her. She didn’t save herself. She was too thoughtful for that. While Grace was thinking about dragging Lena back home to start their lives as adults, Lena was saving her from that … that …

She looked up to find Luke inspecting her. Could he see what a terrible friend she had been? Had Lena’s sacrifice left visible scars on her skin?

“What do you know about the shooter?” she asked to distract them both.

“I loved reading about Greek mythology the most when I was
in high school.”

I turned toward Melanie who was staring at me. I wondered how long she’d been
looking on or more so. How long ago did she move her chair to the side of the
table, so we were sitting next to each other, rather than across from each
other?

“I’m a huge fan of Greek mythology myself,” I respond.

“You are?” Melanie cocked her head to the side. A look of disbelief crossed her
face and I tried not to laugh.

“I am. I loved studying about it in college. I took a couple of Greek mythology
classes between History and Literature. I even took a Latin class as well. The
culture intrigues me.”

“Same here. Anything I can get my hands on I love to read or watch about.”

“If that’s the case, I have a comic I’d love to show you. It’s about Persephone
and Hades.”

Melanie quickly put her drink down and placed her hand over mine.

“Wait!” There was a stunned look on her face as she reached into her back
pocket, bringing her phone out. It was only seconds before she was shoving the
device in my face, showing me exactly what I’d been about to tell her.

“You mean Lore Olympus?!”

“Yeah,” I laughed at Melanie’s enthusiasm and when she pulled the phone away, I
saw a genuine smile plastered across her face as she looked at me.

“It’s one of my all-time favorite comics and it’s not just the story but the
illustrations as well. It’s just so cool to see the story come to life in a
different way than just words or even so, the way most people read about it.”

“Exactly. We can see these Gods in our time and see them be almost human for a
second. It’s quite a refreshing rendition to the Greek mythology world.”

“Did you see it was being optioned for a show too?!”

“I had not but that sounds exciting. I wonder if it will be animated the way it
is in the comics or if they are going to change it.”

“I hope they’d keep it the way it is but if anything, seeing that story come to
life would be amazing to watch.”

“I hope you wouldn’t make me watch it alone.”

It was a long shot but I stuck the comment out there in the open, hoping with
how this coffee date was going, Melanie would sink into the words and move this
in the direction I wanted it to go.

“Smooth move there, Jack.” She shook her head and leaned in closer to me, just
like she had at the bar. “I said this wasn’t a date.”

“Yet here you are in a dress, sitting next to me, giving me the smile I’ve been
so desperately wanting to get from you.”

“My smile?” She moved her hand to her lips and looked down at her drink.

I reached out, tucking my fingers under her chin and lifting her head up.

“You’re smile, Melanie.” I gave her a small smile myself. “Since I’ve known
you, I’ve never seen the smile you give others directed toward me. Now, you’ve
given me a smile that I’ve never seen you give anyone else.”

Rootstock Saga, Book 2
Epic Fantasy
Date Published: February 29, 2020
Publisher: Each Voice Publishing

Gifted or cursed? Isobel is a healer, and the Hawks who accepted her, broken and different as she was, need her help. But she must hide the truth behind her healing power. She is an empath.

John Deighton, The Prophet, is back in Innis and stoking the embers of bigotry and superstition, scouring the realm and imprisoning mindgifted Aurels. When he corners Isobel, will she fight back or succumb to her old fears and lingering scars of the Beast of Monaughty? Will she answer the call of a healer if it costs her everything she loves?

Far across the sea, Tobias Buchanan is racing against time to build New Rhynn as a haven for his clan. As the noose of oppression squeezes tighter in Innis, the Hawks may soon be forced to choose between their homeland and their way of life. Can he earn a place for his Hawks amongst the Este of Tallu? Can he prove Rhynns are worthy of their trust?

Meanwhile, the Este are discovering their own place in the Awakening and the Joining. Spirit runners grow more powerful by the year, and the Mists hover closer over Tallu. But will it be enough when the water rises? Will they be ready before the cycle ends?

Path of the Spirit Runner is the enthralling continuation of the Rootstock Saga. Evolution and oppression. Magical mindgifts and dragon science. The characters you loved in Legend of the Storm Hawks come of age and weave their own threads in the Patterns.

Legend of the Storm Hawks
Rootstock Saga, Book 1
Publisher: Each Voice Publishing
Published: January 2020

Someday soon, your world will end. Ending is not as final as it sounds. Our world has ended before. When it does, be patient. Those of your time will linger and watch new cycles unfold. Some will walk this spinning blue rock again. A few will shape its destiny.

Get lost in the story. The richly detailed fantasy adventure you've been looking for is here. Stunning world-building. Sweeping cast of unforgettable characters. A riveting saga of the magic evolving in us all. Perfect for fans of George R. R. Martin, Brent Weeks, and Brandon Sanderson.

Legend of the Storm Hawks introduces the Rootstock Saga, four novels all due to release in 2020. Not a light read, this is serious fantasy for serious fantasy fans. Set on a future Earth, our own history echoes from the shadows. Adversity awakens gifts in this tale of evolution and survival. Science meets fantasy in a burgeoning of psychic and psionic power, and the mindgifted struggle with bigotry, abuse, theocracy, gender roles, climate change, and the temptations of power and privilege. Their intricately interwoven POV voices and plots converge in a long, rewarding end game.

A master player convinces the pawn the move is its own. Nigel has been at the game longer than most, but lately the pawns keep turning into rogue knights. It’s damned inconvenient of them, considering the world is about to end again.

The Watchers will soon declare this cycle over, as they have so many cycles before, shrugging off yet another rise and fall of humankind, and giving the dragons another turn at dominion.

Brynmohr is King of the Firstborn, and Twelvestones is the last bastion of a once-mighty nene dynasty. As the first people to walk the earth, the Firstborn consider it their birthright to rule over mankind. Half-breeds between their kinds are always sterile, but the daughters born of Brynmohr’s irrational affection for a woman are defying the Patterns.

Sethlyan and Isobel are unaware they’re expendable pawns in an increasingly complex game. Seth is the second son of the Second of Aleron. He’s tired of hearing rumors he and his friends are the prophesied Storm Hawks, destined to free Rhynn from centuries of oppression. He knows better. So does the Other, the voice only he can hear.

Isobel survived the Beast of Monaughty. Her father is dead, but his brutality haunts her. When her brother, the Rhi’Iverach, forges an alliance with the Hawks of Aleron, Isobel finds herself promised to a stranger named Sethlyan.

Her trust is hard to earn. His is hard to give.

A deadly attack leaves them with a telepathic bond neither wants, and awakens mindgifts they struggle to accept. When rebellion brings Nigel and his charges to the precipice of war, they must choose between hiding their secrets or wielding their power, fighting their oppressors or sacrificing freedom for peace.
