Don't Like You by Juliet Arya

Title: Don't Like You
Series: Say Something Book One
Author: Juliet Arya
Genre: Contemporary/NA Romance
Release Date: August 14, 2020

I push. She pulls.
I run. She chases.
I leap. She follows.
I fight. She always wins.

Even when we didn’t know the meaning of love, we’ve always belonged together.

The first time we met, she saw me naked. Then, she grabbed my balls while I howled in pain.

That should have been my clue—this girl has owned my balls since day one. But, nah, I am not that bright with matters of the heart.

I had to go and make things complicated.

She is my little sister’s best friend. Growing up, she hung around my house and turned into the bane of my existence. Infiltrating my privacy, claiming me as hers.

To get rid of her, I came up with a combat strategy. Every time she tried to talk to me, I would say, “I don’t like you.” And that would shut her up.

Now, after years of her persistence and teasing, I want to make her mine.

But this time, she is the one playing hard to get.

Two sexually frustrated adults with one finish line. What can go wrong? Apparently, a lot.

Don’t Like You is a coming-of-age story that follows a childhood crush into adulthood, filled with sexual banter and hot moments in between.

“What are you doing?” she asks in a high-pitched, breathy voice.

“We should have sex.”

“What? You … you are out of your mind.” She is still studying my body. Her tongue quickly peeks out, licking her lower lip.

We want the same thing, sweetheart. Sooner or later, you will agree that you are mine.

“It’s a shame I wasted so many hours at the gym. I worked so hard on my body just for the pleasure of your eyes. I wanted you to enjoy the view when we got naked. See how considerate I am? Always considering the future. Always thinking about you. I am going to die celibate anyway. Might as well give me some pity sex one last time before we break up. Seven-point-five inches of prime meat inside that sweet pussy of yours.”

She gulps. “I … I … don’t you dare take your pants off. I know what you are doing.”

“Really? What do you think I am doing?”

“Seducing me.”

“Is it working?” I know it is.

“I am not having sex with you.”

“Okay, fine, no sex. You owe me a blow job. One blow job, and we are even.”

“Wait. Can you please stop touching yourself like that? How do I owe you a blow job?”

She shuts her eyes and then shakes her head like she is trying to get rid of an image in her mind. “Whatever you are doing is not working,” she says, but I can see the rise and fall of her chest.

I can’t help but grin. “Okay, I have another proposition. Will you change your mind if I offer my services instead of asking you for yours? Let me eat your pussy nonstop for the next twenty-four hours, and we will call it even.”

A gasp escapes her lips, and I can see a pounding pulse throb on her neck. I want to lick that long neck of hers and suck on her pulse. She squeezes her legs together and swallows. My cock stirs in my pants. I am sporting a semi. My body knows when she is ready. This is us.

Juliet lives in a house of chaos surrounded by the humans she loves. Her skill set includes drinking but never getting drunk, cooking hearty dinners and day dreaming while lusting after hot book boyfriends. She loves romantic rainy day picnics and good innuendoes with equal measure. ‘Don’t Like You’ is her first book.

The V- in 403C by Jess Bryant

Title: The V- in 403C
Author: Jess Bryant
Genre: MM Contemporary Romance
Release Date: August 27, 2020
Cover Design: Melissa Gill Designs

Jonah Monroe might be a genius when it comes to his studies but he’s never been able to find his footing in the real world. A college graduate by the age of eighteen and a doctoral candidate at twenty-one, he doesn’t fit in with his peers and lacks the social graces that would attract friends, let alone a lover. He’s resigned himself to his status as awkward and forever alone, until one bad decision turns his world upside down.

He shouldn’t have even been in that club. He shouldn’t have let a sexy stranger buy him a drink. And he definitely should’ve have let the man kiss him like he’d never been kissed before.

Reed Matheson has done a lot of dumb shit in his short life but he never would have guessed that kissing a stranger in a bar would be the best decision he ever made. He didn’t expect the intense connection he feels for the shy, socially awkward stranger to linger long after he was gone. And he certainly never expected to see the cute guy the next morning, preparing to teach his class.

Reed is a student and Jonah is a TA. Unwritten rules or not, nothing more can happen between them, at least that’s what Jonah keeps telling himself. But Reed has never been one to play by the rules and he’s not about to start now, when for the first time, his heart is on the line.

*The V-in 403C takes place in the same world as The D-in 403B. Side characters may overlap but each book is a complete story with it's own main characters and no cliffhangers. Each book can be read as a standalone.

Symptoms of COVID-19 keep evolving. According to the World Health Organization, the main symptoms are fever, tiredness, dry cough, aches and pains, nasal congestion, runny nose, sore throat, and diarrhea. Headaches are not a primary symptom. However, about 14% of the patients do report headaches.
Pandemic Stress
There is a vast increase in headaches among the general population as well – people that don’t have the coronavirus. That’s why you see so many commercials for migraine headache medications; the incidence of headaches are frequently due to the stress this pandemic has caused.
How Does Stress Lead to Headaches?
One frequently overlooked factor is that stress causes people to clench and grind their teeth, also known as bruxism. As this occurs, it affects much more than the teeth. As the jaw muscles contract, it can trigger a reflex contraction on the other side of the body and the shoulder and neck muscles, and even into the muscles in the head, either in the temporal region or back of the head. The contraction of these muscles is directly related to headaches. The people that make Botox understand this as they have Botox for migraine headache treatment. One of the main injection sites for this treatment is in the jaw muscles. Preventing them from contracting heavily can prevent the reflex contraction in the shoulder, neck, and head muscles that cause headaches.
Estimates for the number of people that brux or grind their teeth are approximately 1/3 of the population. Still, the American Dental Association (ADA) says that 95% of the population will do this at some point in their life. The key factor here is stress – even people with a healthy bite and a healthy TMJ or joint will clench or grind their teeth if enough stress is added to their lives. During this COVID-19 pandemic, stress levels are at an all-time high. Therefore you don’t need to have the virus to get a headache related to the virus. All you need to do is watch TV, check the internet, the news, or take a trip to the grocery store –  it can be frightening.
Again, that’s why we’ve seen so many commercials for medications to treat migraine headaches, and also the Botox commercials to treat migraines, but these are not your only options. As a dentist who treats problems with clenching and grinding, and also as a person who has suffered for many years with headaches related to clenching and grinding, I realize a proper appliance to help prevent bruxism can prevent the headaches. Not everyone wants to get Botox injections or take medications that often have side effects that are not good.

A Solution For Those Who Clench and Grind Their Teeth
Unfortunately, up until now, to get a quality appliance to treat bruxism, you had to go to the dentist and spend $500 or more. Recently a product called GrindRelief has come on the market. It is available online at an over-the-counter price.  Also, a growing number of dentists are providing this device professionally, which they can fit and customize at a higher level and often get insurance coverage.
In either case, this non-invasive option has few side effects and can provide great relief to people who suffer from these maladies. Unlike most other appliances, this is one of the only devices that can actually reduce muscle activity from clenching and grinding by 60% or more, thus treating the problem at its source. It is not just plastic between the teeth; it is science between the teeth like nothing else.
These are stressful times and, if the stress is causing you to grind your teeth, GrindRelief is an affordable and efficient solution. GrindRelief is simply the best mouth guard for clenching and grinding your teeth. Click the link below to learn more or order now:

Excerpt Two:

Darkness was everywhere. Erin wasn’t even certain if her eyes were open or closed. The blackness was complete. She blinked, but it made no difference, the blackness encompassed her. She chose to leave her eyes closed and concentrated on her other senses. The air felt
cool against her skin. It smelled dank and musty. No sounds reached her ears. Total silence enveloped her.

Her arms were numb, fastened above her head with heavy clasps that scorched her wrists where they touched her skin. She could tell her arms were spread wide. Her legs were spread as well. Heavy clasps dug into the flesh of her ankles as the weight of her body pushed down against them. She formed an X pinned against something hard and unyielding. Her head was all she could move. But only side to side. Her hair hung matted across her face plastered to her skin with dried blood. Even the small effort of trying to shake her head exhausted her. There seemed to be no way to free herself.

“Where am I?” she wondered aloud. “How long have I been here?” Her voice sounded raspy and alien even to her own ears. Pain radiated down her arms and up her legs into the core of her body. The pain shattered her thoughts like splinters that flew in a million pieces. She knew the clasps that held her in place were silver. The burning and excruciating pain were enough that she knew. Why? Silver to vampires could be deadly. They only used it on the worst of her kind. When she was a newly created vampire, she heard stories of its use but knew enough to stay away from it. This was the first time she experienced its power. It wasn’t just the pain where it touched her skin. The silver felt like a poison that flowed through her body. It clouded her mind. Pain spread everywhere. Surely death would be better.

AUTHOR Bio and Links:

I love a good paranormal read, something about the un-dead haunts the fringes of my mind. Mix in romance, love, loss, and you have a great story.

I voraciously read everything, fiction, and non-fiction but always find myself turning back to the darker stories. I’ve always wanted to write and the dream became a reality with Capital Thirst, and the remainder of the Erin Kingsly novels.

I spend most of my days designing and building websites, but my free time is devoted to my wife, family, and cats. Yes three grown children and three cats. Things can be hectic.

For fun you might find me driving winding roads with the top down or out photographing nature.

Interview with RW Buxton

1. What is your favorite part of this book and why?

I actually have two favorite parts. The first is the first chapter when Gerry gets a call from Erin after not hearing from her for a year. He has a decision to make, and it’s not an easy one for him. But he makes it and goes with the consequences.

The second favorite part is the chapter after the climax. We see Erin in an all fresh light and what comes after that isn’t expected after this chapter. I don’t want to give away what happens next so I’m just going to leave it at that without much of a why.

2. If you could spend time with a character from your book whom would it be? And what would you do during that day?

The only thing I really want to do with Gerry is shake some sense into his head and tell him to get his selfish head out of his ass. I know it's not nice to say about one of my protagonists, but he is stubborn and self centered. He’s good at heart, but can’t move forward.

The character I would love to spend time with is Erin. She’s 300 years old. She’s traveled the world and lived in different countries in different times. The stories she could tell would be amazing. The knowledge she would have could probably fill volumes. Not history books because they are slanted depending on what country you live in or the time they were written. She would have the real knowledge of what happened because she was there and lived the events.

That  is all predicated on the fact that she doesn’t kill me. But since I’m not her type, I figure I’m safe.

3. If you could have been the author of any book ever written, which book would you choose?

I’m not sure I would want to be another author. When you think about it, authors before the 18th century were often writing about philosophy or the new concepts of science and considered heretics and persecuted for their beliefs.

Writers in the 19th century rarely received recognition for the valuable contributions they made, or could ever see the impact of their works. The early 20th century produced a number of outstanding authors, but can you name one that didn’t have a troubled life? The latter part of the 20th century heralded the age of big advances and immense pressure by the big publishers for authors to crank out the next book. Many of those next books weren’t what the first was because of that pressure.

Indie publishing has changed so much. Now I can be the author I want. Write about what I want and do it on my schedule.

There are dozens of authors I would love to spend the day with. To know what they were thinking and doing when they wrote their works. But I wouldn’t want to live any of their lives.

4. Are your characters based off real people or did they all come entirely from your imagination?

All of my characters are entirely fictional, they come from my mind and develop over time. Everything from appearance to personality are made up. That’s not to say that I don’t spend a lot of time watching people and observing physical characteristics, mannerisms and personality. But when I create a character they aren’t based on any one person. At most it’s a conglomeration of all the people I’ve observed. Taking a little from each to create the whole of the character.

Even saying that both Erin and Gerry are almost entirely created from my imagination. I sat down and thought about what kind of character I wanted them to be. Then I thought about their arc and how personality would impact that. I thought about the flaws that would prevent them from achieving their goals. As I mentioned Gerry can be self centered. Then I wrapped it all up to create a character. Even their physical attributes play into how they achieve their goals or hinder their goals. For instance Erin is very attractive and Gerry thinks she’s too good for him. It all has to work together to make the chemistry seem real.

5. What made you want to become a writer?

I’ve always written, but I never set out to be an author. At least not published. I had this story in my head about a vampire and I decided one day to start writing about it. I wrote a number of short stories that I liked and when people read them, they always wanted to know what happens next. So I thought I would write something longer, and it turned into Capital Thirst. But the story didn’t end with Capital Thirst so I wrote Beverly Hills Torture. So it just sort of happened.

After I spent all that time writing them and shared them with friends I decided to go ahead and have them edited and then I published them. So it just evolved. Capital Thirst was more of an exploration in creativity, going for short stories to a full-length novel. Beverly Hills Torture was actually the first time I sat down and said I’m going to write a novel. Sort of the first time I actually thought of myself as a writer.

Both of those were written in spare time whenever I felt like it. When I wrote Moscow Nights, which should be out in September or October, I actually set a schedule and a timeline. When I would be finished with the first draft, when I would do the revisions and rewrites and when it would go to the editor. As with all hobbies, if you’re not careful they can turn into a job. Fortunately, this is one I love.

The opportunity to create stories that other people enjoy reading has been something I’m glad I’ve been able to achieve.
