Otherworldly & Atrocity by C.F. Rabbiosi

Titles: Otherworldly: Kassien and Calypso's Song #1 and Atrocity: Kassien and Calypso's Song #2
Author: C.F. Rabbiosi
Genre: Dark Romance Sci-fi/Dystopian

In a distant future, humans are on the run from the Warrior Alphas, who have taken over the planet. Only old, leather-bound books pulled from the rubble tell the story of who once inhabited Earth.

Calypso is one of the last survivors. She’s different than the rest of her kind, her hair a silvery blue and her eyes like ice due to a gene mutation from a past nuclear fallout. She has always been warned about the large, merciless enemy, and that if they found them, they would be killed or enslaved.

One night, Calypso is attacked by one of their own. To her surprise, one of the alien males - Kassien - saves her and sets forth a chain of events that changes their lives, and the future of their races.

Content warning: this book contains explicit sexual content, and is not suitable for readers under 18 years of age.

Calypso and the women from her village have been stolen by the huge warrior alphas. Haunted by tales of violence and lust-filled desperation, they’re taken in chains across the land to become their breeders, as the Koridons aren’t capable of conceiving with their own kind in Earth’s atmosphere.

But Calypso knows something about them that none of the others do: many of the frightening males are capable of so much more than savagery, like her princely mate, Kassien. She doesn’t know if he’s dead or alive, as his worst enemy forces her to be with him for his own sick pleasure.

As the women are thrown into this dangerous new world, they’ll have to survive not only the brutish strength of their mating unions and the complications of carrying a Koridon child, but also the risks to their own hearts.

Warning: This is an Omegaverse-inspired tale full of triggers such as forced desire and complete power exchange. Please keep this in mind before reading!

What reviewers are saying: This book was absolutely riveting, and i stayed up until 430am to read it in one sitting. It starts right after the ending of the first book, so reading that first is essential. It's a very dark story, with noncon and dubcon and scary scenes. But no scarier than an episode of Handmaid's Tale, which is similar in themes. I sobbed through some of the brutal scenes, knowing it could all happen anytime in real life. But these female characters demanded respect and dignity, and it's what I loved the most about it. It's an epic tale, and definitely not over. I was impatiently waiting for this book and it delivered in spades.I can't wait for the next book.

"Atrocity was amazing. I literally have no words to describe my love for this series. I cried, laughed and got angry with it. 5 stars. If I could give more I would to infinity."

"I LOVED this story! I could not put it down and then I thought about it sooo much over the next three days I just had to read it again. It has the flawless balance of action, lust, rage and heat… my oh my the heat! The story keeps the reader engaged and engrossed with its unpredictable narrative. I loved the forced desire aspects of the story and the author’s version of an alien world (and men) is something to be desired by other authors. I loved this story. I have nothing but praise for both the story and the author! A must read if you love alien stories."
"This is my first book By C.F. Rabbiosi and I have to say that I am impressed. Ms. Rabbiosi managed to create a fresh and original story. The world building is outstanding. I felt like I was truly living in this beautifully crafted world alongside its characters."
"Holy cow what did I just read! This book is usually not my genre that I usually read, but I am grateful I did.
This book is based on a beautiful other world that the author built and made it so believable that I wanted to be there. Her characters were remarkable and sexy as hell. The sexiness and the hotness left me an emotional wreck."

The seals have
been revealed and God’s judgments on the earth is in. The Clave is here to
deliver the news.

ABIGAIL
LA wasn’t home… just
home for now.
Transplanted here to
model I learned Hollywood isn’t where dreams survive the harsh reality of
millions all sharing that same dream.
Executive assistant
is who I am now.
Slave.
Hollywood’s darling
took a liking to me. One not easily ignored when they give you a taste of the
high life.
I was supposed to
give up hope and give in to LA’s bad reputation but I had rules.
Well, just
one: read the rules before you break them.
Unwilling to abandon
all my morals, the filter came off my life to see the world I was one foot in
was invitation only...

GRIMM
I’m not sure I was
ever really Jason.
Whoever he was, was
a distant memory now.
Grimm is who I am
now.
Death.
I abandoned my birth
name, companionship, happiness that wasn’t shaped like Xanax all because I was
expected to be the kind of elite that pulls the strings.
Pull the strings but
follow the rules.
No distractions.
No serious
relationships.
Keep what we do
secret.
Born into a rite I
didn’t ask for, a society of puppeteers.
An invitation I
marked not attending...

We were all related
to monsters.
All heir to corrupt
kingdoms.
Forced to uphold
some delusion that we are doing God’s will by ridding the world of the bad
people when we should be included in that kind of purge.
“It’s down to the
right. There’s a bunker. That’s where they keep the sacrifices,” I was finally
tired of wondering around when I knew exactly where to go.
I found them by
mistake one year when I was ten, back when inviting your whole family was more
common. They expected everyone to be present even if you weren’t weilding a
musket and shooting real people down.
The four of us used
to play hide and seek on the grounds just to keep ourselves entertained. I
always had the best hiding places, this was our vacation home when it wasn’t
being used for some ceremony the Clave hosted.
I was ten years old
when I found people in cages in the bunker we were told to stay away from. They
were all dugged, out of it like they were dreaming with their eyes open. I
envied them. Dreaming with your eyes wide open seemed like the perfect antidote
to life, too bad that kind of safety only came before you died.
It wasn’t until my
first attendance I realized these people weren’t lucky at all. They were bait,
aggression running wild, enemies of the Clave that we hunted for sport.
None of them were
going to survive - the least we could do was let them dream with their eyes
wide open.

The rules say we
can't touch each other, but rules were made to be broken.

It's been seven years since our plane crash landed. What
started as 47 passengers has quickly dwindled to 32, and now that Christa is
pregnant we risk losing her too.
If she had followed the rules none of this would have
happened. Men and women are not to be alone together, prohibited to touch and
sex is the ultimate taboo. I followed the rules, why couldn't she?

I am determined to save her, even if it means leaving camp
in pursuit of civilization. Even if it means travelling with Cade, the only man
I've ever been tempted by.

The climate I can endure, the terrain, survivable, but the
rules? They are one forbidden touch from being broken forever.

Excerpt

It has been years since the crash, and still I wake every morning with
the jarring sense of falling. Christa places her palm on my back for
reassurance and I roll over to face her. It’s not yet morning and I can barely
make out her features in the moonlight. Her face is fuller and so is her
abdomen, but we haven’t said anything to the council yet.
“Go back to sleep Lena,” she whispers, and I flip back to my side, used
to following her directions.
I am mad at her and worried for her, but mostly I am determined to save
her. It’s the not knowing how that keeps me awake.
There is a rustling in the shelter across the way, and I suspect that
Cade is unable to sleep tonight too. I think about crawling out from the
familiarity and warmth of the space I share with Christa and clicking my tongue
against the roof of my mouth three times. It’s the code we use when the four of
us want to sneak out of camp. Only Christa is too tired now and Tanner never
leaves her unless Cade or I are there to protect her.
Maybe Cade can hear me thinking because I watch as his silhouette moves
from the shelter and down toward the water. Christa groans as I pull away from
her and follow him. When I reach the water’s edge I have to skip over three
smaller rocks to reach the large curved boulder that rises above the rest. I
sit close to Cade so the two of us can whisper. We can’t risk waking any of the
others. There are strict rules about men and women being alone together.
Rules that seemed silly—until Christa got sick.
“You shouldn’t be here,” he says, keeping his eyes on the smooth flat
surface of the water in front of us.
I don’t care that he wants me to leave. I can’t bear the thought of lying
still until the sun rises. So instead, I say what we both know.
“She’s getting noticeably bigger.”
I don’t have to look at Cade to know that his brows are pinched together,
and his mouth has formed a tense, firm line. He gets quiet when he can’t quite
work something out. Usually I wait him out, but this time I can’t because I
know that like me, he doesn’t know where to start.
I trace my hands along the rough edges of the boulder. Below, the water
has rubbed it smooth, but on top where we sit, it has the texture of gesso,
layered heavily with a palette knife.
The uninvited memory of things from before is unsettling. I wrap my arms
around my knees, so as not to feel it.
“They never should have—”
“But they did,” I say, cutting him off.
Cade inches away from me on the rock, as if being too close to me is
dangerous. I don’t take it personally, even though just a few weeks ago his
hand brushed mine in this very spot and neither of us pulled away.

A quirky character in her own colorful world. A man who struggles to see beyond black and white. With heartbreak and healing, A Little Pill Called Love is just the prescription for a little laughter, twists to heal, and a love that demands to be heard.

Rylie Marshall has blue, green, yellow, and a mixture of pills that made her "normal." But her idea of normal and what her mother or society wanted her to be never seemed to match up.

She lives day-by-day in a fantasy land within her own troubled head and books. Reading was her escape whenever even her head denied her such a haven. So, how was she to know that one day, sitting on the beach, a book would show her the one thing she didn't have, but might change her life…

Love.

Mike Newport had white, yellow, and striped pills that made him capable of being one of the most cut-throat corporate marketing advisers his clients could have. Not even a life-changing tragedy could slow him down.

His days and most nights were spent with his head buried in flow charts, graphs, and spreadsheets. Busy was the best way--the heart could easily be ignored as it was dying inside his chest.

The last thing he needed was a vacation, but how was he to know that a carefree girl, playing in the waves and talking to the birds might give him the one thing he had been avoiding…

Love.

From bestselling author Jas T. Ward comes a touching, quirky, fun, and gritty readA Little Pill Called Love, rebranded, edited, and published by Hot Tree Publishing.

I read about this. You know, when the good-looking guy looks at a girl and there’s a funny feeling in the tummy? It happens in all the books—didn’t matter if it’s a serious romance or one of those erotica books my mother didn’t let me read but I did anyway—and I thought it silly before too. How would butterflies get in anyone’s stomach to even know what they what they felt like? But for the first time, I understood—a fluttering like tiny wings kissing you on the inside. Note to self—it was a real thing.
My tummy was getting inside kisses when I looked into Mike’s eyes as he held the shell of the gross, raw oyster in his fingers. Not taking the time to look at his fingers before now, I saw they were long and slender. His nails were perfect; I wondered if he did manicures and stuff. That made me wonder about his toes and the thought made me giggle at the image of executive Mike sitting in a salon getting a mani-pedi—bet he’d be on a phone or even a laptop when he was supposed to be relaxing. The image teased a burst of laughter preparing to escape, but then he said those words and no way could a girl make a sound after “take a chance.”
Okay, so he probably meant taking a chance with the oyster, but it could mean so many other things. Blinking, I opened my mouth to ask what he meant, but I also didn’t want to appear to be stupid either. Swallowing, I leaned forward enough to slurp the oyster and I couldn’t help it.
I spit it right back out.
“Oh, it’s gross. So gross!” I waved a hand in front of my face to fan it and heard Mike laughing. I blushed so much I felt as if I would catch on fire as my ever present flee and run instinct reared up, until I once again became fascinated by his laughter. It was the different one again—like he didn’t laugh at me like he found me weird or strange. I felt he did because he thought me funny and smart, or so I hoped. I smiled and wiped my mouth with the cloth napkin and pointed to the oyster as it landed on my saucer. “Who ever thought to open up a shell and go, oh, let’s put this booger-looking thing in our mouth and see what it tastes like?”
Mike gave up trying to eat the other oyster he picked up as his hand braced on his forehead in laughter. “I have never thought to research it. But you do have a point.” He smiled and slurped the oyster back like it was not the grossest thing in the world and let out a sigh I guessed came from pleasure. Oh wow, please let him make that sound after every single one of those nasty things. “I’m going to assume we need to order you something else.” He lifted his hand and the waitress came over as he glanced at me. “What do you want, Rylie? Just say it and it’s yours.”
You…
Naked….
For once, if not the first time ever, my brain actually stopped words from coming out of my mouth and boy, did I get happy about that. I sputtered as the waitress handed me a menu and tried to focus on what it listed, trying not to be distracted by more moans of oyster joy coming from across the table from me. Focus, Rylie, focus. I looked at the menu to see what food might not dribble all over my boobs if I had as much trouble eating as figuring out what to eat. “Uh, can I have the grilled shrimp with the parmesan potatoes?”
The waitress nodded as I handed her the menu back.
I rested my chin on my upraised hand as I watched Mike eat those oysters, almost wishing I’d ordered another platter of them, even if they were gross, just to watch and hear him eat them. He must have become aware I watched because he set the last half-shell down and smiled.
“Anyone told you how incredible your eyes are, Rylie? Especially when they’re staring at a man as he makes a fool of himself with shellfish?”
I blushed again and then covered my face with both of my hands. “No. But you are the first guy I’ve ever watched eating sea boogers.”

Welcome to my worlds, take a seat, get to know me and the characters and I assure you… You’ll be glad you did.”  ~Jas T Ward

Born and raised in Texas, Ward is a mixed bag of creativity spinning tales of paranormal, urban fantasy and even dark romance and horror; wrapped within a love story. She’s been dared to write a few contemporary romances but even those reads have characters that are real and twisted by their creator.

Mother of three diverse and independent bold children, Ward prides herself for being the “Queen Niche’ Bitch” which is a handy way of saying she sucks writing to market.
But her readers don’t seem to mind.

Sean scowled, then acquiesced. “I don’t blame you.” He licked his fingers and wandered over to the wall full of photos that Brendan had hung earlier that morning. “Wow! Is that you on the Great Wall of China?”

Bren nodded, his mouth full of bread and cheese.

“And where is this?” Sean pointed to a black-and-white photo of Brendan standing in front of a huge clock.

Brendan swallowed. “Prague. That’s the world’s oldest astronomical clock. Amazing, isn’t it?”

Sean’s brow furrowed as he scanned the display of more than a dozen photos from places all across the globe—some that were obvious—Moscow, London, Paris, Tokyo—and some that Bren was sure Sean wouldn’t recognize, like Zagreb, Croatia, and Podgorica in Montenegro. “Good God, Bond, all those times you said you were ‘on travel,’ we had no idea you were all over the damn globe. Conny, Ace, come check these out.”

Bren grinned. “You never asked where I was going.”

“We weren’t sure we were allowed to ask.” Aidan rose from the table to amble over to the photo wall. “Who knew? If you’d told us, you might have had to kill us.” He peered at a framed photo of Bren standing in front of an ornate palace, his arm around an attractive brunette. “Who’s this and where are you?”

Bren stood and carried Griff, who was still gnawing on a chunk of bread, over to his brothers. “Oh, that’s Agent 99, we’re in front of Bojnice Castle in Slovakia.” He said, working hard not to crack a smile. . He couldn’t help being rather proud of his perfect Slovak pronunciation, particularly since it clearly impressed his gaping brothers. Because of the research and analysis work he did for several government agencies, he’d mastered, at last count, seven different languages, but that wasn’t something he boasted about. It was simply part of his job.

Sean stared at him over the top of his glasses while Conor looked askance and said, “Oh, sure, of course it is.”

“Agent 99?” Aidan chortled. “You’re kidding, right?”

Bren just smirked. They were so convinced he was a spy, it was a kick to tease them.
