Author Spotlight: Jamell Crouthers

Code Blue: An Oath to the Badge and Gun
Code Blue Book 1
by Jamell Crouthers
Genre: Fiction

Doing the right thing is never easy. But are you willing to lose everything to keep your integrity?

Gary has been on the police force for a few years. He feels he’s doing a great job of serving and protecting his community. Soon he realizes that he’s part of a police force where there are some police officers who dishonor the oath they all took to protect and serve their city and he knows what is going on around him is all wrong.

He has a decision to make, whether to report it and risk his career and his badge or be part of the cover-up. He chronicles all of these events where he talks about different cases and everything that occurred during that time period.

While this book chronicles the life of a police officer, it’s told from a perspective that is normally not done. This book addresses racial issues and whether good cops know who the bad ones are and what can be done about it.

What will Gary decide to do? Will he blindly obey code blue or protect the people?

He has been writing poetry since the age of 13 but never thought he could utilize his talent to tell stories and write books. He is not the traditional author as he writes his books in poetry format with a focus on storylines and societal issues.

Jamell's blogs tackle societal issues, how he writes his books, his journey as an author and some motivational blogs that will get you to focus on your goals. His goal and moniker is, "to change the world, one book at a time."

All of Jamell's books are written in prose format, it's different than the traditional book that you would read. My books tackle issues that are currently going on in America and in the world.

Savage Beginnings by J.L. Beck & C. Hallman blitz

Savage Beginnings
C. Hallman & J.L. Beck
(The Moretti Crime Family, #1)
Publication date: July 31st 2020
Genres: Adult, Dark Romance, Romance

It started with a single look… my obsession, my desire, and need to possess the sweet, and incredibly naive Elena Romero.

Dark raven hair, and piercing green eyes. She would make a beautiful bride.

Ten-millions dollars and a forced signature later and she was mine.

Like a thief I came in the dead of night and stole her away from her protected castle and placed her in a gilded cage made of gold.

The deal had been settled.

She would become my wife.

She would bear my children.

She would bend to my will.

But most importantly she would help me destroy the man she loved most. The man who took everything from me: her father.

*This is a dark mafia romance that contains mature themes, graphic violence, and sexual content. This is a complete standalone that ends with a happily ever after. 100,000+ words long. There is NO cheating either.**

Goodreads / Amazon

EXCERPT:

I’m so nervous for the rest of the day, I can’t even concentrate on math. I can’t shake the feeling that Marie is in danger and that it’s my fault.

When Julian finally comes to get me for dinner, I’m on pins and needles. As soon as he walks in, I bombard him with questions.

“Is she okay? Marie, I mean. You didn’t do anything to her, right?”

“Why would you ask me that? I told her it was fine to come in.”

“I thought…”

“You thought I killed her?” He arches a brow in questioning.

I feel ashamed to admit it, but nod since there isn’t any point in lying to him. Julian is cruel, sinister, and I know he wouldn’t hesitate to kill someone. Man or woman.

“I didn’t kill her… but your concern for her well-being is interesting.”

Interesting?”

“Maybe that’s not the right word. Convenient would be better.”

“What that’s supposed to mean?” I’m almost afraid to find out.

“At the event I’m taking you to, I need you to behave. I need you to act a certain way and do things you might not want to do, but you will do them because if you don’t, Marie might get hurt.” The words slowly enter my mind, and I piece the puzzle together.

“You’re using her against me,” I growl angrily.

“Yes, but I will not harm her if you behave, and I will reward you. I will give you more freedom. All you have to do is prove yourself to me.”

“Prove myself? What does that even mean?” I toss my hands into the air. “I’ve never done anything for you not to trust me. I’ve played all your games, never fought you on anything. I let you keep me in your bedroom without complaining. I think I’ve proven myself enough… maybe you are the one who needs to prove himself to me.”

As soon as the last bit leaves my mouth, I regret saying it. Not because it’s not true, but because I don’t want to provoke Julian.

Hybrid Chronicles
Book

Shana
Vernon

Genre: Urban Fantasy
Date of Publication: July 15,
2020
ASIN: B089452Z7J
Cover Artist: Christian Bentulan

Book Description:

I've been hiding from the Guild
since I was born.

If they knew about my magic, they
would kill me in a heartbeat.

I should be avoiding them, but
instead, I enter the Guild as a regular human recruit.

Why?

Papa went missing after a
mission, and I need answers.

I realize I might have bitten off
more than I can chew when my new instructor is the guy I kissed a few months
before.

It doesn't seem like Cade
recognizes me without my disguise, but if he does and blows the whistle, I'm as
good as dead and so is Papa.

About
the Author:

Shana Vernon is a full-time
writer and mother of triplet boys.

When she isn't writing or taking
care of her kiddos, she is reading, exercising, experimenting with cooking, or
traveling around the world.

Interview with Shana Vernon

Do your characters seem to hijack the story or do you feel like you have the reigns of the story?
I am a die hard planner when I write so I know what the outline of the story will be, including all main plot points. However, there are many scenes inside of those big ones that I didn’t expect to happen. Lenna definitely tries to have a mind of her own.
Convince us why you feel your book is a must read.
Many of the characters in The Assassin’s Daughter have all gone through different hardships and are learning how to adapt and grow. I think that a lot of people can relate to that and will hopefully connect with my characters and their experiences.
Have you written any other books that are not published?
Yes! I am almost finished with a novella for Sofia, who is a character in The Assassin’s Daughter. Many of my beta readers really loved her and wanted to read about her background before joining the Guild. The novella is a prequel to The Hybrid Chronicles.
I have also almost finished the second book of The Hybrid Chronicles, which should be released sometime in October! Fingers crossed!
Pen or type writer or computer?
A combination of Pen and Computer.
Anything you would like to say to your readers and fans?

Reading, especially fantasy, is a way for me to leave the mundane and allow my mind to wander into different worlds and experiences. I really hope that my readers find that same escape through my words. :)
