I pulled away with a soft laugh. “We better get to the bed before I lose
the ability to use my knees.”
“Lead the way.”
I rolled my eyes, grabbed his hand, and pulled him toward the bed.
Turning, I sat on the edge of the bed and eyed Ryan expectantly. How did I do
this again?
Ryan chuckled as he toed off his work boots. They fell to the floor with
a thump. “You should see your face right now.”
“Do I look freaked? Because I feel kinda freaked. I don’t know how to do
this. I mean, I’ve done this before—just not this this, ya know?”
“Hey, hey.” Ryan sat next to me on the edge of the bed. “There’s no right
way or wrong way to do this. There’s no game plan or checklist or whatever. We
just do whatever feels right, whatever you want.”
“Okay.” I gave a shuddering sigh as I looked into his gorgeous eyes.
“Then I want you to kiss me.”
“Maybe we should—”
“No. You said whatever feels right. And it always feels right when you
kiss me.” I leaned into him and his arm came around my shoulders and settled in
a way that just…felt right. “Please.”
Ryan groaned. “Christ. You have no idea what
it does to me when you bring out the eyes. You could ask me anything, and I’d
probably do it.”
“Then kiss me
already.”
He leaned toward me,
his lips hovering over mine, and then he whispered, “As long as you promise to
only use your powers for good.”
“No promises,” I
whispered back.
Ryan’s eyes flared
and he groaned. “Fuck me.”
Then his lips covered
mine, and I lost the ability to think.
All I could do was
feel. His amazing lips. The way his hair felt in my hands because I had to hold
him somewhere. The way my heart raced when he suckled on my tongue.
Minutes later I was the one tugging
frantically at his clothing because I had to feel him. Everywhere.
Ryan’s laugh was
husky in my ear and made me want to moan. “I think the only thing hotter than
your gorgeous eyes is how eager you are right now.”
I swung my leg over
his hips so I could straddle him. Looking into his eyes, I smiled wickedly.
Ryan cleared his
throat unevenly. “Uh, I stand corrected. Apparently you can get way hotter.”
The power I felt in that moment… The fact that I had this man, this crazy
hot guy, so worked up and just willing to do anything that I wanted? I think I
could’ve come from that thought alone.
Then I pulled his shirt up and over his head.
Or maybe the view of his hard, tattooed body would send me over the edge.
I ran an appreciative hand over the art covering his chest and arms. The
heart on his left pec with “family” written in script. The flamed motorcycle
racing down his arm. And the muscles. Sweet baby Jesus, the muscles! He had so
many muscles I couldn’t even…
He took advantage of my temporary paralysis and tugged my shirt up and
over my head. A reverent expression stole across his face. “Ah, Hope. You’re
just…”
He trailed off in a groan before he took my lips again in a harsh, hungry
kiss.
I ached to feel those lips on my nipples. Unconsciously arching toward
him, I moaned into his mouth. Finally I couldn’t take it anymore. I reached
behind me to unclasp my bra but my fingers were swiftly batted away by Ryan’s.
He made quick work of the clasp and then my bra was falling down my arms,
baring me to Ryan’s hungry eyes.
“Christ, they’re even more gorgeous than I imagined.” He lifted a hand
and cupped the underside of my left breast.
My cheeks heated with his compliment. Or the contact. I didn’t know
which. I bit my lip and looked down at where his tanned, calloused fingers held
my pale breast. “You’ve been thinking about my boobs for a while?”
Ryan groaned and brushed his stubbled cheek against my nipple. “All
night. And occasionally when I was alone the last few months. I couldn’t get
you out of my head after that first night. How you looked. That scent. The way
your voice sounded.”
“And my boobs?” I teased. But still, I was caught by the way he
remembered me. I’d had such an impact on him that he thought about me, too?
“There’s no way to get these babies out of my mind.” Ryan murmured as he
rasped his cheek against my hard nipple again. Then he finally stopped teasing
me and gave what I craved. He captured the tip of my breast in his mouth and
suckled hard.
And I melted. I think I groaned or something. I know I burrowed a hand
into his hair and held him against me. Like I was afraid he’d try to get away.
Ryan pulled back—as much as my greedy hands would let him—and blew gently
on my wet nipple before turning his head and laving attention on my other, poor,
neglected tip.
I closed my eyes and let my head fall back as the sensations shrouded me.
I wanted more. I wanted deeper. I wanted him all. My thighs clenched and I was
seconds away from my second orgasm of the night when Ryan pulled away with a
groan.
“Shit, beautiful.” His breath was warm against
my shoulder. “You keep grinding on me like that and this show is gonna be over
before I even get out of my pants.”

Happily Ever His by Delancey Stewart

Title: Happily Ever His

Series: Movie Stars in Maryland Duet #1
Author: Delancey Stewart
Genre: Romantic Comedy
Release Date: August 15, 2019

Blurb

Tess was used to
being in the shadows. But when movie star Ryan McDonnell pulls her into the
spotlight, her whole world is threatened. Can a relationship that starts as a
secret fantasy ever survive in the real world?

My sister Juliet
has always gotten everything she wants.

It’s fine though. I
never wanted the spotlight. That was my sister’s domain. And now that she’s
America’s most popular starlet? She can have it.

But when Gran—the
feisty woman who raised us, and who I cannot seem to wean off video games, an
afternoon doobie, or her daily Manhattan—has a huge party to celebrate her 90th birthday,
Juliet brings the Hollywood madness straight to Maryland.

In the form of my
ultimate movie-star crush, Ryan McDonnell. I can barely form a
sentence around the guy (at least I don’t still have a poster of him on my
wall). And I definitely can’t get over the fact that he’s Juliet’s new
boyfriend.

I just need to get
through the weekend with them—and with the magazine people who are covering
them and the party for a feature. I just need to stay away from Ryan and his
warm curious eyes, his perfectly chiseled arms, and the impossibly sexy things
that come out of his mouth when we’re alone together.

It’s only one weekend, and I just need to remember that Ryan
is an actor. A good one. Because I almost believe him when he tells me we have
a chance together.

TESS:

My sister slid from
the back seat of the car looking every bit the movie star she was. I hoped
everything was going to meet her standards. The security guys had looked around
the property for God-only-knew what, and asked me questions about our alarm system
(nonexistent), our security perimeter (also nonexistent) and our emergency
evacuation CONOPS (seriously? Once they explained what a “CONOPS” was—a concept
of operations, in case you’re wondering—I explained that was also
nonexistent).
My big sister Juliet
lived in a world I could barely begin to understand, where movie stars were
people you actually knew. People like Ryan McDonnell.
Sigh. Deep,
lovelorn sigh.
My sister had never
really belonged here, and she didn’t fit in any better now, with her huge dark
glasses and slim-fitted pink capris and high-heeled sandals. The second I saw
her, I felt myself inching toward invisibility again. I loved her, but my life worked
better when Juliet wasn’t standing at my side, begging the world to wonder how
two sisters could be so different.
I pushed down my own
insecurities and smiled at her.
“You look great,” I
told her. It was true. She always looked great.
“Hey,” she said in
that breathy voice she’d become famous for. She pulled me into a tight hug,
smiled at me, and then took a step back, ducking her chin a tiny bit as she
said, “I want to introduce you to someone.”
A pair of long
jean-clad legs slid out of the car behind her, attached to a broad tall body
that I already knew too well was Ryan McDonnell. I was more than familiar with
this particular ‘someone.’ He’d been my on-screen crush forever, though I
hadn’t seen him in anything lately. There had been a movie I hadn’t seen—one
that hadn’t done too well, but it included zombies, which were not my thing,
even if you added in Ryan McDonnell hotness.
The object of my
movie star affections had bright blue eyes, perfectly tousled dark hair—cropped
close now, I noticed—and a body that appeared to have been carved from stone,
or so I’d thought in the last role I’d seen him in as a comic book hero
reimagined as a dark avenger. God, he was hot.
“Tess?” My sister’s
voice cut through my stupor.
“Sorry,” I said,
shaking off the dreamy haze. “Yes.”
“Yes?” He asked me,
a smile spreading slowly across the perfect lips I couldn’t stop staring at. He
chuckled, and I realized he hadn’t asked me a question. Embarrassment surged
inside me, making my stomach churn.
“No,” I said, covering
my affirmative declaration with an equally unnecessary negative word. “Or, I …
um, hello.”
“I apologize for the
short notice,” Ryan said letting my idiocy slide. People probably acted like
loons around him all the time. I tried not to look at him, but there were parts
of my body that were not listening at all to my brain. Ryan’s smile was like a
speeding train coming right at me and freezing me to the spot where I stood,
stupid and dazed. “I hope it’s not an inconvenience having us both here,” he
said.
I watched his
perfect full lips as he spoke, almost unable to process the actual words. I was
having trouble being human, thanks to his actual existence right in front of
me.
“Sure,” I said, my
voice higher than I remembered it being.
More answering questions
no one asked. My sister was smiling at me, shaking her head. Juliet knew about
my long-time Ryan McDonnell affliction, and it was pretty obvious at this
point. I hated that she undoubtedly knew I was flustered just trying to form
actual words around her new boyfriend.
I forced myself back
to sanity.
“Can I help get your
things?” I had no idea if it would be weird to acknowledge his status as my
favorite actor or if it was rude to pretend I had no idea who he was.
I settled for a
moronic silence on the topic.
Juliet put her arm
around me. “You don’t need to get the bags,” she said lightly, as two of the
men from her security team emerged from a second car, all black T-shirts and
muscled arms pulling suitcases from the trunk.
Of course not. My
sister had people for that.

Assertion Trials by Melaina Rayne

A Wilder Novella
Paranormal Romance
Date Published: August 6, 2019

 photo add-to-goodreads-button_zpsc7b3c634.png

I am Shala Wilder. It is time for my coming-of-age celebration. Eligible males from every wolf pack have come to compete in the brutal trials of the Assertion.

When all is over, the victor will claim me as his companion. The problem? My heart isn’t set on a competitor, but on an off-limits guard who has no interest in me.

What fate awaits me at the end of the trials? Will I fulfill my duty as obedient pack member, or will I forge my own path?

Excerpt

“Shala Wilder, get your skinny ass down here right now!”

My heart sank at the sound of Nettie’s frustrated tone. I knew she’d come looking for me when she realized I wasn’t in bed, but I didn’t think it would be so soon. I barely had time to get comfortable on my little perch, no chance to calm my frazzled nerves. My anxiety over the coming events was still too raw. I needed more time alone, but I wouldn’t get it.

“I mean it, girl. I know you’re up there. Don’t make me come get you.”

We both knew she couldn’t climb the thirty feet up to my little ledge. Still, I was in big trouble if I didn’t at least answer her.

Shifting onto my belly, I peered nervously over the edge to find her standing with her hands on her hips, her foot tapping out an impatient rhythm. That was just like her, always looking so stern and serious. She didn’t have a fun bone in her body. At least, not since I’d known her. She was a no-nonsense kind of woman. She didn’t have time for games, but no matter how harsh she could be, the woman loved us all fiercely.

“I’m just staring at the stars, Nettie,” I called down to her. “Don’t have a pup.”
Her wrinkled face pulled into a tight scowl. “I am well beyond my birthing years, girl. There’ll be no more heathen pups for me.”
I rolled my eyes. She’d missed the point. Again. Sometimes, I couldn’t help thinking she did it on purpose.
From behind Nettie, Rendall stepped into the open, her short cap of pale hair gleaming silver in the moonlight. “You should be sleeping, Shala. You’ll need the rest for your big day tomorrow.”
I flopped onto my back again, letting out a short puff of air. “I can’t sleep. I’m too nervous.”
My twentieth birthday—the beginning of my adult life—was only a few hours away and sleep refused to come to me. Anxiety and worry made it impossible. Not only had ten years passed since I last saw my parents, but the next few days held unknown things for me.
Over the course of my stay in the mountain stronghold, I endured the emergence of my wolf, struggled to get control of her, and mastered the art of shifting with ease and deftness. Still, I had my misgivings about the changes I faced in the coming days.
“Come down and I’ll make you some tea,” Rendall offered.
“I don’t want tea,” I grumbled. “I want to stare at the stars until my eyes cross and I fall asleep from sheer exhaustion.”
A small silence followed my confession before Rendall pressed. “Come now, Shala. Nettie may not come get you, but I will.”
The stiff tone in Rendall’s voice told me all I needed to know. She was usually one of the gentler elderwomen, but she was a good climber. If she came after me, I’d likely be thrown from the low cliff.
With great reluctance, I joined the two women and walked silently between them all the way back to the village. Nettie said goodnight once we reached the main hall, leaving me to follow Rendall to the kitchen.
