Decades after migrating north to Cleveland, Ohio, from rural Louisiana, Tobias Winslow has made an uneasy peace with the past, including his own mistakes that led to a prison stint. News of a murdered son, and the daughter that son left behind, forces Tobias to reassess his past and restructure his plans for the future. Christian Taylor and Joey Breaux, meanwhile, are college students who have vastly different worldviews, but are drawn together by an appreciation of family. All three—Tobias, Christian, and Joey—are unknowingly tied together by a disappearance in Louisiana decades earlier.

 Excerpt

What Willie suffered happened decades ago, his disappearance never solved, so why was Tobias dreaming about it now?

Vernita looked past her plate of eggs, grits, and ham. To one side of her, a woman shoveled food into her mouth, not looking away from her plate. At the other end of the table, an aide fed another woman.

“Open up,” the aide instructed before placing a spoon with a small amount of applesauce into the woman’s mouth. “Good. That’s good.”

Vernita clenched her fists, gritted her teeth, and began breathing heavily. She abruptly stood and glanced across the cafeteria. Then she knocked the items off her tray unto the floor. “He ain’t coming back!” she screamed. “They kilt my son! They kilt Wilfred!”

Several aides rushed over and wrestled her to the ground. One of the aides signaled for a strait jacket.

BARBARA BLAKE is a bright, young, attractive, and ambitious defense attorney. Alejandro Soto, an inmate already serving two life sentences for the brutal murder of a drug dealer and the man’s mother, is on trial for a third murder, one he did not commit but that could well result in the Death Penalty. When Blake and Soto meet in the San Cristobal, California courtroom, they begin a 120-day journey that will invariably alter both of their lives. Together, they spiral ever more deeply into the dark heart of a quintessentially American story of sex and love, truth and lies, justice and prejudice, crime and punishment, and, ultimately, life and death.

Praise for 120 Days:

"There is a human element here that is only found in top-tiered crime fiction, and this book is filled with it. I adore all of the major bestselling authors of this genre and have finally found a new favorite that, in my opinion, belongs in the same league. A truly brilliant novel. An exceptional writer. Highly recommended."

Interview with Ronald L. Ruiz

  1. Where do you get inspiration for your stories?
Inspiration for my stories comes from my life experiences, before, during and after being a criminal defense
lawyer and prosecutor for 37 years.

  1. What advice would you give budding writers?
For anyone who wants to write, I encourage you to read, read, and read.
Read the great and good writers and get some idea of what made them successful as writers.
Then, write, write and write. Write about what you know. Write about what you think is important.
Understand that few of us are born geniuses or natural writers, and that looking back at your first efforts may be
embarrassing.
But keep writing and reading and with time, you will develop a skill that you can be satisfied with.

  1. How long have you been writing?
I began writing, or trying to write, 66 years ago after reading Dostoevsky’s Crime and Punishment when I was
17 years old. I published my first novel, Happy Birthday Jesus, 41 years later.

  1. Do you ever get writer’s block? What helps you overcome it?
I am not sure I would say I have faced “writer’s block”, but I have experienced plenty of fear and discouragement
as a writer. But I have continued to write, at least five times every week I sit down to write. And in time, returning
to these difficult spaces, I have been able to get past them.

  1. What is the last great book you’ve read?

Edition Book 2
by Breanna Hayse

Genre: Contemporary Romance

The
Generals’ Daughter and BDD: Jennie are back!

What happens
when two bored girls get stuck in the lodge with only their Daddy
Doms, a wild moose, paints, and a chemistry lab to entertain them?

Sam and Jennie
are back for Part 2 on the BDD: Special Edition Trilogy and bring
more mischief to the table than ever before. As the two explore their
Little sides, the girls’ journey of self-discovery leads them to
unexpected places.
****
Jennie’s been
afraid to let loose despite the encouragement of her four Daddy
Dom/Fiancés. Influenced by her new, fearless friend, she takes a
chance and tests the love of the men who have devoted their lives to
make her happy.  The winter ‘breaking’ has started- not just
to introduce the coming of spring to the land of permafrost, but also
to help her Little and Big girl personas break through the fear and
bloom. With that comes a new level of intimacy- one that launches
this fivesome to another plane of desire.
Sam still
struggles with the reckless impulses that constantly lead her over
someone’s knee. If it’s not the ice-covered lake calling her to
swim, it’s the wilderness that surrounds her. Her heart aches for
the ocean and the pod but, with a family of new ‘uncles’ guiding
her and Richard in the age-play dynamic, she learns something very
special about herself. This knowledge brings more than awareness—it
challenges her to let go of expectations and jump into Littledom feet
first. With that, Richard’s hopes are fulfilled, and he sees a
future in fostering their unique relationship. What he doesn’t
realize is that there’s much more yet to come- or that he won’t
know how to handle it when it presents itself.
The group also
is privy to some spicy secrets from the past when they meet with Dr.
Bonham, an old Naval Academy friend of Sam’s uncle, Scott Jenkins.
Together with Dr. Bonham’s ‘blackmail box,’ videos captured on
Jennie’s cell-phone, and a little information from Sam’s father,
there are no geographic boundaries as the girls go all out to
make as many of their men laugh as hard as possible while avoiding
the never-ending threats of spending time across one (or more) of
their laps!

(This
is the second book of a three book mini-series: Special Edition:
Jennie and Sam. Old favorites come to life as the two families join
together to learn the power of acceptance, loyalty, and unconditional
love, and travel with them to discover amazing new places and events
unique to the beautiful Pacific Northwest)

BDSM/AP
lifestyler Breanna Hayse strives to give her readers truth and
reality of the BDSM/Age-Play/Total Power and Erotic Exchange
lifestyle.

Who
am I?

I'm
a native Californian gone 'wild', and had the opportunity to travel
the globe and discover the world through the eyes of both a Marine
Intelligence specialist and a BDSM lifestyler. I left the service to
go into hospice nursing and grief counseling, eventually working as a
marriage and family therapist for those involved in alternative
lifestyle development. This experience has allowed me to gain unique
inspiration for my books and offer realistic plots and relatable
characters.

In
2004, my husband, John, and I joined forces to work with both
submissives and dominants- teaching, training, listening and loving.
Our goal was to take the mystery and fear out of the lifestyle and
mentor people in safe, consensual and healthy relationships.

My
first book, The Game Plan, was published in 2012 and opened the door
to the now-booming world of Age-Play literature. Since that time,
I've devoted my 'spare' time to writing, researching, community
involvement, and private and group pro bono counseling in deviant
behavior, alternative lifestyle, and addiction recovery.

I
was formally 'dungeon trained' as a Domme before discovering my
submissive side when I joined the service. My scenarios are pulled
primarily from either personal experience or observation, including
spending time in BDSM clubs as the safety/medical officer. My
multi-faceted background allows me to glean from many avenues and
give a unique and intelligent literary experience through elements of
fantasy and fiction. I also discuss the questions and psychology of
the lifestyle in a manner that is fun and informative, and based on
'the real deal.'

I
live with my husband, musician, and fellow-author, John Hayse, and
two border collies in southern California. We practice a 24/7 D&S
relationship with speckles of AP (and many trips to Build-A-Bear),
and happily spend every moment together that we can. My hobbies
include my puppies, hiding my vanilla salt-water taffy where John
can't find it, exotic art, collecting inspirational trinkets, and
developing my own paddle line. You can also see me as a featured
author/instructor in professional conference settings and as a
Sexpert for kinkyliterature.com.

Cass Ford

Contemporary Romance

a savvy gossip vlogger and porn’s most renowned bad boy fall in
lust, they must decide if they’ll follow passion into dangerous
territory.
When
savvy gossip vlogger Morgan Sidney gets assigned the breakup of
porn’s most illustrious couple, she strikes a deal with her boss—if
she scores an exclusive, she’ll get promoted. So when the famous
and flirtatious Prince of Sin offers to fulfill her three wildest sex
fantasies, Morgan must decide whether she’ll keep things
professional or surrender and explore her sensual side.

As
someone who despises the media, why is Chase Prince spending time
with a reporter? Clearly, he’s intrigued. But can a scorched
sinner—and the biggest smut star around—let a fierce civilian
enter his domain?

Prince of Sin takes readers beyond
Tinseltown’s glossy Hollywood Hills to Silicone Valley—for a
behind-the-scenes look at a sometimes bleak, always risqué world.

Cass
Ford began creating smoldering male protagonists when she was five
years old and convinced her aunt that she had a hot and heavy
kindergarten boyfriend. In grade school, she penned tales on her
parents' typewriter and by middle school sold her own love and gossip
magazines to friends. As a preteen at sleepover camp, Cass often told
playful, steamy bedtime stories to her bunkmates.

After
earning her Bachelor of Journalism degree and several TV/film
certificates, Cass continued to hone her passion for storytelling as
a television development producer. Born and raised in Canada, she now
resides in California.
