master's degree in modern literary cultures and is currently working
towards her PhD. She wrote her first short story at the age of
fifteen and grew up with an equally great love of both classical
literature and speculative fiction.

last few years as a bit of a world traveler, living in California,
London, and most recently, Dublin. When not immersed in words of her
own creation or studies, you'll find her traveling to mythical sites
and Game of Thrones filming locations.

#UnforgettableLove Post for author Kaylee Baldwin

Take a Chance on Me by Kaylee Balwin

Madelyn Stewart knows how to have fun, no matter what her ex-husband claims, but between working two jobs and taking care of her five-year-old son, opportunities for fun are few and far between. So when she is given tickets to take her son to see a live taping of the MyHeartChannel show Take a Chance, they go, even though it means she’ll have to stay up all night to turn in her latest article on time. To her shock, the daredevil star, Chance Risk, is none other than Graham Sawyer, the quiet accounting major she’d dated in college—someone she’d cowardly broken up with by note and hoped to never see again. When she makes a major mistake on her article, she has to swallow her embarrassment and reach out to Chance for an exclusive or risk losing her job.

Chance Risk doesn’t talk to reporters. Not after the way he’s seen them destroy his brother’s marriage and career. But Take a Chance is starting to lose viewers, he’s desperate. Despite his better judgment, when Madelyn reaches out, he can’t resist the opening to figure out why she broke his heart eight years before. His only condition: she has to come to three filming locations with him and his crew to get a real sense of what the show is about.

Swept up in adventure, they start to feel the chemistry from college rekindling. But the reason Madelyn left eight years before still looms between them. If Chance can’t convince Madelyn to take a chance on love, she’ll walk away again. This time forever.

#1:
“I’ve got a second chance.”

Linda’s eyes lit up with relief. “That’s awesome, Madelyn. You’ll do great.”

She let out a humorless laugh. “Yeah, well, we’ll see. Everything rides on getting an exclusive with Chance Risk.”

“MyChannel Chance Risk?”

“You know him?”

“Oliver talks about him so much I looked him up. I thought he didn’t do interviews.”

“I panicked.” Madelyn took a huge bite out of the creamy pie. An interview with Chance Risk. Someone she never wanted to see again. Someone who definitely didn’t want to see her again. Her future at Verity News all depended on a man whose heart she’d smashed eight years ago.

Linda walked closer and dropped another huge spoonful of cream on Madelyn’s plate. “You’re going to need this,” she said grimly.

Madelyn closed her eyes. What in the world had she done?

#2:
The cold, fresh water soothed her aching feet, and she stepped in until she was waist-deep. Chance swam close to her and then emerged from the water, his long eyelashes damp over seductive eyes. Water slid from his chest and biceps. His hands rose to brush his hair from his face, his muscles flexing, and their gazes tangled together.

He lowered his hands near hers, and then shot them out of the water in an instant. Water splashed her in the face.

Moment ruined.

“Chance!” Irritated, she swiped at her soggy hair, now drenched with water. “I wasn’t going to get my hair wet!”

“What?” He grinned when she splashed him back. “I was just helping.”

“So juvenile.” She stopped splashing him so she could dunk herself under the water and take care of the hair-in-her-face situation. When she surfaced, she found Chance watching her. A delicious shiver ran down her spine. She kicked away from him and swam toward the waterfall, needing some space.

#3:
“You’re beautiful,” he whispered, and she turned to him, recalling her too-casual clothes, her frizzy hair, the sugar still dusting her face. But when he looked at her that way, she believed it.

She rested her head on Chance’s firm chest and listened to his steady heartbeat as they swayed gently to the music. Oliver still drew with the children, happiness lighting his face. She wanted to soak in the pure contentment of the moment.

“Madelyn,” he whispered, his voice hoarse.

She lifted her head, and a stray hair flew across her mouth in the warm breeze. He caught it, his knuckles brushing across her lips. Her breath caught and the entire world disappeared. It was just the two of them caught up in the magic of being.

#4:
The distance between them seemed to shrink in an instant. Madelyn parted her lips and their breaths mingled for a second, every part of her yearning for more from him, and finally his lips crushed against hers. Madelyn closed her eyes and gripped his hands tightly, giving him everything he was taking, and demanding more for herself in return. She felt the balcony at her back, and Chance’s body pressed against hers. She untangled their fingers and threw her arms around his neck to pull him even closer to her, his mouth tasting of mint and desire. His kiss reverberated through her whole body, both grounding her and sending her back to a time when she’d been the happiest in her life. Slowly their kisses transformed from a frenzied passion, to an achingly tender slowness. Chance brushed his fingers through her hair, and she gripped his shoulders when he started to pull back.

"Take A Chance On Me shows off Baldwin's brilliance in crafting an unforgettable story. The characters take on a life of their own, with moments that made me laugh and cry right along with them. From the first chapter I was drawn into this sweet romantic adventure and didn't want it to end!" -Chelsea Hale, author of Mr. Write and Hart to Heart
-
"Kaylee Baldwin is a master at bringing you into the lives of the characters and feeling with them as they fall in love. I deeply enjoyed watching Chance and Madelyn find their friendship again and see it progress to love. Baldwin makes every step the character take toward each other the perfect one, leading to an ending that had me sighing with satisfaction." -Ranee S. Clark, author of Playing for Keeps and Love, Jane
-
"This story pulls the reader in; one won’t notice the pages flying by while reading. Love the characters, love the story, love the ending!" (Amazon Review)

Number of pages: 264
Word Count: 63,300

Tagline: Taking your best friend’s place on a blind date to let the guy down easy was the plan, taking him to bed wasn’t!

Book Description:

After a heartbreaking betrayal, Melissa Legacy shuns romance. So when her best friend joins the Lovers Oasis website and fears her fiancé will find out, Melissa agrees to meet the anonymous Romeo, prepared to explain her friend’s change of heart—then she sees him.

Failing restaurant entrepreneur, Craig Wheaton hasn’t been home since his mother’s tragic death. Now he’s back to confront his demons and stand beside his brother as best man. Dreading the reunion, he agrees to meet his avatar lover, but at the last moment he reconsiders the arrangement—until he lays eyes on her.

When Craig assumes Melissa is his online consort, she impulsively plays along, resulting in an afternoon of unexpected intimacy. But with Melissa using her friend’s identity and Craig dealing with a family fallout, is a future together impossible, or will they discover that love at first sight is Only the Beginning?

Excerpt:

Melissa blinked
a few times, trying to remember the dream. A sense of bliss made her smile into
the pillow. She was warm and the bed covers were tucked around her like a
cocoon. It must be Saturday, she thought.
There was a
shift in the bed behind her, followed by a low sigh.
She froze. In a
series of flashing images, it all came back.
The pub. Craig.
The intense stare of his eyes. The way he’d kissed her as he unzipped the back
of her skirt. He made her feel like she was the most desirable woman on the
planet, that there was nothing he wouldn’t do to keep touching her.
And she’d
reciprocated, opening up to him, losing all her inhibitions. She imagined this
was what Lovers’ Oasis was like. The anonymity combined with the fantasy
created a freedom Melissa had never experienced before, not ever.
But now reality
set in. She’d woken naked, next to a man she barely knew and the earlier
courage she’d felt—the reckless delirious abandonment that augmented her
physical enjoyment of the afternoon encounter—had morphed into terrified
embarrassment.
There was only
one choice—she had to leave before he woke. Slowly, she slipped one leg out,
her foot searching for the floor. Then she inched her way to the edge of the
bed, carefully making sure not to jostle the mattress.
She stood,
completely naked, looking down at Craig. He was on his back, one hand was on
his chest gently rising and falling as he slept. The sheets pooled at his
waist. His face was completely relaxed, his mouth opened slightly, lips parted.
A warmth began
to stir inside her, remembering how those lips felt. He’d memorized each of her
breasts with his tongue as his fingers slipped down her belly then nestled
between her thighs. She’d come for him, then. So quickly…so easily.
Her purse buzzed
from the floor making Melissa jump. It sounded like a marching band had
exploded through the door. She crouched down and lunged for the purse, grabbing
the phone and silencing it. Melissa waited, but there was no movement from the
bed. A quiet breath eased through her pursed lips. She read her phone; there
were multiple messages from Brooke. The last one was marked “urgent.”
—Where are you?—

Interview with Daphne Dubois

Do your characters seem to hijack the story or do you feel like you have the reigns of the story?
I’ll have a plan and then Ka-Boom! My character does something I wasn’t even expecting.
Convince us why you feel your book is a must read.
It’s a lovely escape! With the romantic setting of a seaside city, who wouldn’t cheer for these two confused lovebirds? I think readers will connect with the struggle Craig has at trying to come to terms with his mother’s death and the choices that have resulted in an isolated lifestyle. He knows Melissa is exactly who he needs in his life but he can’t let himself accept her. Likewise, Melissa is struggling with her own need to be happy with the person she is rather than the person she thinks she need to be.
Have you written any other books that are not published?
I’ve published one other romance novel, The Right Fit, and seven young adult novels. Presently, I have a young adult mystery I’m hoping to turn into a series. Also, I have several short stories on my Wattpad account, written as BRMyers
Pen or type writer or computer?
A notepad to flesh out the idea as an outline, then the computer for the actual story.
Anything you would like to say to your readers and fans?
Thank you for reading this interview and please buy my book! And if you can’t buy it, then share this lovely post on social media, or request the book from your library (they’ll order it in) or mention the book on your facebook/instagram/twitter/tumblr page, or just tell a friend!
Or tell your favorite author how much you love their books, they might get that message on a day they don’t feel like ever writing again.
Readers are the force behind this industry, not agents, publishers or ever writers. It’s the readers who make it what it is, so thank you for all the reading you do!

One True Love by Linda Kage blitz

One True Love
Linda Kage
Publication date: June 6th 2018
Genres: Adult, Fantasy, Romance
Custom demanded that Prince Urban get a love mark tattooed to the side of his left eye as an infant, just like the rest of his people, but to him, the stupid things have only brought on the scorn of his father, the misery of his siblings, and caused his entire kingdom to go broke from fighting so many wars over the irritating ink stains.
When Urban’s sister must travel to Donnelly, the kingdom within the sand, for her arranged marriage to align two realms, he goes with her. But he no sooner steps foot inside their castle than his mark starts itching like a son of a bitch, telling him his one true love is near.
It just figures, though, that the woman meant for him is completely forbidden. Now he must decide if he should ignore the persistent mark, telling him she’s the one, in order to avoid a possible war between kingdoms, or if he should discover whether she’s worth risking everything for so they can be together. Either way, his life gets sucked into chaos with threats of beheadings, dark magic lurking, castle traitors scheming, and sword fights eminent.
Who knew one little tattoo could cause so much trouble?
EXCERPT:
What a peculiar place. I couldn’t decide if the entire kingdom was just that naïve or if all this pleasantry was part of the grand trap they were about to spring on us.

Allera sent me a warning glance. “Open minded, remember?”
Making a face, I clutched the sword at my side and nodded before cracking my neck from one side to the other. Open minded. Sure. Until they tried to kill us, anyway.

We came to the gateway that led into the middle bailey, and there, we were instructed by the guards to leave the carriage as we were to separate ourselves from the servants we’d brought with us and walk the rest of the way on foot.
I opened the door and glanced around for danger. Unable to spot any, I reluctantly folded down the steps and hopped to the ground before managing to somehow angle my body so I could assist Allera on her descent and not turn my back to a single guard.
A dignitary whose bangs on his blond hair were clipped far too short stepped forward, bearing a scroll under one arm. My return scowl seemed to disconcert him, making him shy a step back. After fumbling to unroll the scroll with shaking hands, he read us the greeting, then let us know he would lead us to the Throne Room where King Caulder and his brother Prince Brentley were waiting to receive us.
Allera was all smiles and patient nods, thanking the man. I stood stonily at her elbow until we set off after Short Bangs. Wrapping both hands around the front buckle of my sword belt, I strode beside her, back rigid and gaze alert, as I took in the beauty of the palace.
Everything here seemed new and clean. Spotlessly perfect, in fact. I couldn’t find a flaw anywhere in all its excellence.
Which made me itch.
Literally.
I shook my head at the insistent sensation that quite abruptly wouldn’t leave me, and I scratched my temple heartily.
Didn’t help.
When I kept scratching it, Allera shifted closer to me and hissed from the side of her mouth, “What the devil are you doing? Stop that. You’re going to make our entire clan look like deranged lunatics by the way you keep fondling your eye.”
“I can’t help it.” My fingernails raked relentlessly over the spot on the side of my left eye, unable to make the skin stop prickling. “My mark’s itching like a bastard.”
“Well, you know what that means, don’t you?” She sounded irritated. “And I said STOP scratching it already. People are staring.”
In front of us, Short Bangs glanced back curiously. Offering him a tight smile, I dropped my hand back to my belt, and he faced forward again. My smile instantly morphed into a glare, which I shot Allera’s way.
How was it that she still talked down to me as if I were a child? I’d led battles, controlled my own fleet of ships, bedded some of the most beautiful, exotic women in three realms, and gotten the king of Lowden to kneel before me because of my intimidating presence after my army had defeated his. Yet Allera wiped all that prestige away with a single, degrading glance.
Older sisters could suck the man right out of a fellow, I swear.
“What does it mean, oh wise one?” I mocked moodily, winking one eye so it would wrinkle that cheek in an effort to alleviate the sensation without actually touching it. That didn’t help either, dammit. “That I’m allergic to the kingdom of Donnelly? I could’ve told you that.”
I glanced around at the servants who’d stopped working to watch us pass. Even they looked clean and well-clothed. It was just plain weird. And suspicious. Could one kingdom really have this much wealth and good standing with their peasants and be so goddamn welcoming?
“No, you nimrod.” Allera sighed and shook her head. “It means your one true love is near.”
Forgetting about the peculiarity of my surroundings, I stopped walking and swung around to gape at my sister incredulously. “THE HELL YOU SAY!”
