Honor (SEAL'ed #1) by Andi Jaxon & AJ Alexander

Title: Honor
Series: SEAL'ed #1
Author: Andi Jaxon & AJ Alexander
Genre: Contemporary/Military Romance
Release Date: June 27, 2018
Cover Design: PopKitty Designs!

Logan has been running from a death bed promise for years, but he’s finally decided to face his fears and claim his forever. Now all he has to do is convince her to take another chance on love.

Katie buried her husband and made peace with never finding a love that strong again. But when a smooth talking cowboy asks her to dance, fireworks explode, leaving them both desperate for more.

However, their happiness is darkened by a secret – the secret of who he really is.

Raised all over the country, I'm a interesting mix of East Coast meets West Coast with a little bit of Southern thrown in, just for good measure. I married a sexy man in uniform who let me spawn and am now raising a mutinous army of hell raisers that I created myself, all while he defends our country. I drink too much coffee until it's late enough to drink too much wine and am sexually frustrated for your freedom. If you see me online, I'm probably sitting in a closet, hiding from my kids.

Fluent in sarcasm, Supernatural, and song lyrics, I like talking to people and finding what makes them tick, though that probably has to do with the Psychology degree. I’m up before the sun because my kids don’t sleep, chugging tea and coffee to keep my eyes open and my brain semi functional. Being married to a man in uniform means I’ve lived a lot of places, survived seeing my husband for half the amount of time I’ve been married, and spent a lot of time raising my kids alone.

I love to write messed up psychos with lots of angst, happily ever afters that have to be worked for. Women with sass and backbone, men with a twisted hero complex and the need to control are my favorite to read as well as write.

Two brothers. Two best friends. One robbery gone wrong.

With a court date looming, a near-fatal car accident, and a house invasion, the four surviving witnesses to an armed robbery know they are targets. In a desperate attempt to stay safe, they take matters into their own hands and go off the grid a week before the trial.

Danny St. John was stuck in a dark place of guilt and regret after a personal tragedy. On the run from violent criminals, he is forced to spend time with the one woman who makes him feel too much. Victoria Lopez needs to protect her heart, but she also misses the guy Danny used to be and thinks she might be able to bring him back. Now, evading gunmen together in Sequoia National Forest, Vic will risk everything to keep Danny safe.

Eric St. John isn’t a big fan of his sister-in-law-to-be, Zoe Turner. Sure, she’s beautiful, but also bossy and brash. When Eric and Zoe are forced to rely on each other for survival, he sees a side to Zoe he never anticipated, a side he definitely likes. But as the two grow closer, so do the men hunting them down.

Time nearly runs out as each couple must not only brave the perils of the wilderness and their growing feelings for each other, but also outwit their pursuers in a deadly game of cat and mouse.

Excerpt

He’d intentionally traveled away from the stream, so it took time to cut back for water, but if the strategy kept them safe then it was worth the extra time it cost. “I hear it,” Danny said of the rushing water. “Should be right through those trees there.”

He plowed ahead, concentrated on the idea of quenching his thirst and refilling and purifying the water bottles.

“Danny.” Vic’s voice didn’t sound her usual confident self. In fact, she sounded freaked out and—

The distinct rattle stopped him in his tracks and his breath rushed out of his lungs in a single whoosh as he turned and saw the snake. If the brown and gray scales hadn’t given it away, certainly the sound did. Somehow a giant rattlesnake planted itself between them on the narrow path. It slowly reared its head back while its tail rattled a warning. Vic’s eyes widened in paralyzing fear.

“Danny,” she whispered with both plea and panic.

“Stay still. It’s okay.” Frantically, he looked for a stick. Something to whisk the slithery beast far away, but nothing but pebbles and leaves surrounded him. The fucking thing slid closer to Vic, its tongue slithering out, tail rattling and head up ready to strike.

Danny did the only thing he could do. He kicked dirt behind the thing to get its attention. It spun and struck before he even blinked. Shit! He jumped back, felt the contact at his ankle. The fabric tugged as its fangs stuck on his jeans. “Shit! Shit!” Danny tried to shake the beast off and the reptile waved in the air like thick rope.

Monsterland Reanimated by Michael Okon

MONSTERLAND REANIMATED by Michael Okon, YA/Monsters/Thriller, 250 pp., $14.99 (Paperback) $5.99 (Kindle)

Title: MONSTERLAND REANIMATED

Author: Michael Okon

Publisher: WordFire Press

Pages: 250

Genre: YA Fiction/Monsters/Thriller

After Monsterland has imploded, the entire world is thrown into
chaos. World leadership is gone, economies have collapsed, and
communications are non-existent.  Wyatt must go beyond the boundaries of
his small town to reestablish contact with the outside world, and alert
the government about a traitor-in-chief.

During his journey he discovers a new threat released from the bowels of the defunct theme park.

When an army of relentless mummies, a life-sucking ooze called The
Glob, and a hybrid reanimated Behemoth rise from the depths of
Monsterland, who will survive?

A bright moon
painted the desert’s surface pewter. Here and there, dark spots soiled the
landscape like oil spills. Most of the bodies had been taken before the troops
were ordered to leave. They carted away the corpses, bulldozing the zombies
into mass graves, until radios chirped with urgent orders deploying the
soldiers to the bigger threats that erupted in the main cities like a chain of
angry volcanos.
Monsterland was
extinguished, its carcass left for the vultures to pick, the exhibits silent as
a tomb.
The dead
president and his equally dead entourage were whisked away on Air Force One,
along with the dark-clad special operatives that came and left like the brisk
desert wind that now howled through the empty streets.
A gate screamed
in the silence, slamming with a reverberating smash. The uneven gait of someone
with a physical challenge filled the void. The scrape and plod of his limp
echoed against the wall of mountains framing the theme park. His labored
breathing huffed as he made his way down the streets.
A door creaked
loudly as it was blown by the wind. He stopped, his distorted figure
silhouetted in the pale moonlight, his body turning silver. He looked at the
broken glass littering the pavement like diamonds, then up to the still,
pre-dawn sky. He considered the sun peeking over the jagged horizon in the
east, its golden light painting the dips and hollows of the hills. Soon the
coming day would chase the darkness away.
Time was the
enemy now. He had to move faster, or it would be too late. He picked up his
pace, lurching along the winding road. A keening howl ricocheted through the
streets, bouncing off the walls. It sounded like a ... no, he thought, it
couldn’t be
. The werewolves were all dead. Destroyed by Vincent Konrad when
he made their heads explode.
The old man
paused, listening for it again, and was not disappointed when the animal
whimpered. He gauged it to be inside the defunct vampire exhibit. He moved
toward the entrance. The storefronts had been destroyed. A few body parts lay
on the pavement, as if people had discarded them in a rush. He heard the
scraping of paws on the street and a shiver went down his crooked spine.
He knew the
werewolves were dead; he had seen it with his own eyes. A figure detached from
the shadows. Igor flattened himself against the wall. He watched it move
stealthily down the street, stopping when it scavenged a morsel of rotting
flesh. It looked up to stare at Igor, its eyes glowing in the darkness.
A coyote? He waved a hand, dismissing it. It had to
be a coyote; it was too small to be a wolf, too big to be a dog. The beast
twitched its ears, then resumed its meal.
Igor knew the
coyote was not a threat, and he continued his mission. His lame foot hit a can,
sending a cacophony of sound like an explosion in the deserted park. The beast
dropped the bone it was gnawing on, sniffing the area. Its iridescent eyes
searched the streets.
It could be a baby wolf, Igor thought, keeping himself as still
as possible. He felt it watching him, even from this distance. It was not a
threat, yet.
Igor skittered
away, hugging the walls of Monsterland, putting as much distance as he could
between them. Not an easy feat, considering his distorted hips. He muttered to
himself about carrion and the wind. His eyes darted nervously, scouring the
hills, not exactly sure what he was looking for. Adrenaline coursed through his
veins. His heart pounded so loudly he was certain that the creature watching
him could hear it too.
His feet
stumbling to a halt, he bent over, gasping for air, cursing Vincent and those
meddlesome teenagers, as well as the rest of the world.
The beast gave another mournful howl that
went right through him. Igor glanced at his empty hands, berating himself for
not bringing a weapon. He searched his surroundings for anything to protect
himself.
Then he saw it,
one of the axes they had on almost every corner. All of them had been pulled
from their protective cases. One was lying in a pool of coagulating blood, the
blade long gone. He picked up the broken axe handle, turning in a semicircle.
He was ready for an attacker.
A new, larger
outline made his heart quiver with fear. It crouched in a corner, its snout
covered with blood. This one was bigger, not a coyote, a wild wolf. Wait,
he thought. Weren’t the gray wolves of California all but extinct?
Igor narrowed
his eyes. The beast was a light reddish brown and not the silver gray of a
wolf’s pelt. A chain hung from its neck, the pendant of a werewolf’s head
dangling, emerald eyes flashing. What was it? Was it a mutant coyote? A wolf? Some
weird hybrid
, he wondered for a minute, his breath harsh in his ears. They
watched each other soundlessly.
A hybrid
then.
He’d heard about
them, a rare mixture of wolf and coyote. What did they call them? Coywolves
...? or was it Woyotes?
He shrugged indifferently. Perhaps someone’s pet,
he decided. Igor’s mirthless laugh came out like a snort.
The coywolf
stood still, its ears alert, its head cocked as if it was observing him.
Igor dropped the makeshift weapon, calling
out, “Eat the rest of your meal, you dumb beast.”
The animal continued to watch him, its two
front paws on the remains of a zombie’s chest.
Igor wiped his
forehead, waiting, his eyes coming back to search the village, confirming it
was empty, except for the carrion eaters like the coyotes and vultures. He
looked up, noting the circling predators waiting for him to move on.
“Interrupted
your meal,” he chuckled. Just the local scavengers looking for food.
That was all; the shadows revealed nothing else. Satisfied he was alone, he
moved on. He had work to do.

GENRE: Historical (Regency)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
With her three good friends all recently married, Elizabeth Turley is ready for some husband-hunting of her own. One gentleman in particular sparks her interest. Geoffrey, Earl of Harrington is tall, handsome, and dashing. He’s also just a bit too sure of himself. But Elizabeth has observed enough about the rules of attraction to pique the earl’s attention. Yet once she has it, the discovery of a troubling secret taints her future happiness . . .
Lord Harrington must marry or lose a prestigious position in Brussels, and pretty, well-connected Elizabeth fits his needs admirably. But could it be that he has underestimated his bride? She doesn’t bat an eye in the face of the danger they encounter overseas. She’s strong-willed, intelligent, and more enticing each day—yet also more indifferent to him. Now Geoffrey faces his greatest challenge: to woo and win his own wife, or risk losing her for good . . .
Read an Excerpt:
Excerpt Two:
Once Gavin had accompanied Lord Harrington into the house, her aunt looked at Elizabeth. “Well, what did you think?”
After his initial stiffness, he was quite charming.” Even if he didn’t kiss her fingers.
He’s a handsome man,” her aunt mused.
She had studied him as he’d strolled off with Gavin. She had been right. It was clear his tall frame and broad shoulders had no need of padding anywhere. “Yes. His eyes in particular are a beautiful color blue. They almost match the sapphire he wore.” His hair was blond but slightly darker than hers. “I like the way his hair curls.”
But he is not pretty,” Aunt said. “Not like Byron.”
No. He is very manly looking. His jaw is firm.” Not able to get the vision of his shoulders and shapely legs out of her mind, Elizabeth fought the urge to sigh. She might be a little too interested in his physical attributes.
And he was attentive to you,” her aunt prodded.
Yes, he was very attentive.” Especially when he talked about going abroad. In fact, that was almost the only thing he discussed. He had not asked anything about her likes and dislikes.
Very well.” Her aunt’s tone was a bit impatient. “He is tall, blond, and handsome. He appears, from his conversation, to be intelligent and well read. He comes from a good family. He will be a marquis someday, and he wishes to be wed.” Aunt Bristow arched a brow. “Tell me. What is it about him that you do not like?”
Her aunt was right. Something about Lord Harrington had struck Elizabeth as . . . off. She pushed is physical looks aside and focused on what was bothering her. Lord knows it wasn’t his appearance. It was not his demeanor as such. It was . . . was he really interested in her? “He wants this position so badly that I believe he will marry any suitable lady just to have it.” She scrunched up her face. “Do you know what I mean?” Her aunt stared at her, clearly not understanding. She’d have to find a different way to put it. “It strikes me that in a way he is like a fortune hunter. He does not care who he weds, so long as he can have what he wants. In the case of a fortune hunter it is the money. In Lord Harrington’s case, it is the position with Sir Charles.” She rubbed the space between her eyes, trying to ease the tension she felt. “I do not wish to be the means to an end.”
Aunt rang the bell on the table next to her. “You do not think he cares if his affections are engaged.”
A footman appeared carrying two glasses and a decanter of claret. After setting it down, he returned to the house.
I am not even sure if he cares about compatibility.”
