"I
read the book one Saturday afternoon in about 3 1/2 hours straight.
While I wanted to take a break, I found myself simply unable to put
it down until reaching the end. ALL GOOD! Touché. Excellent story.
Excellent plot…” Amazon Review July 4, 2017

"There
are a lot of great action sequences throughout the book, and each
chapter builds upon the last. The author does a great job with
setting the scene and describing the characters in the story, it was
like watching a movie in my head…” Amazon Review June 27, 2017

Excerpt 2:

"Walking closer, I noticed her full jet black wavy hair, melding into her shoulders. Her seductive deep blue eyes, wide then fading into a soft point, reminiscent of a wolf looking through you rather than at you.  There was the faint edge of a tattoo on her neck just under her left ear, partially covered by the black leather jacket she wore, and a nose ring that I hadn’t noticed before. I never found tattoos or piercings attractive at all, well, really never. It was more of a turn off, but on her, it worked.
The closer I got to her, I could smell this aroma...an aura , so pleasing it took me aback for a few seconds as I enjoyed the feeling of this scent. I’d never experienced that before. Emotions of intense eroticism with shear hormonal lust mixing to confuse me..."

"I had always been fascinated with how pain or pleasure worked. Why and how have humans determined the feelings of one over the other. Pain is bad or it hurts and was something to avoid. Pleasure is good and something sought out. How had humans evolved to distinguished either. Aristotle stated, “We may lay it down that Pleasure is a movement, a movement by which the soul as a whole is consciously brought into its normal state of being; and that Pain is the opposite."
He believed pain and pleasure were a push-pull concept with one opposing the other. As the wolf, pleasure and pain had no meaning, which caused no fear. Rather, I felt the attraction to pain as much as I had the desire for pleasure, there was no separation..."

" Thunder rattled the house. I was dazed with a far-off song dancing in my head that I didn’t recognize. I need to know, Damn! Page. An over powering want, or desire called me. I needed to see her. The confusion replaying in my brain caused a deep unfamiliar instinct. I got out of the bed to answer this calling. Lightning flashed through the window, illuminating Page’s beautiful image and I heard her whispering my name. The unrecognized song, confused my mind.
I grabbed my phone, put on my jeans, grabbed my keys and walked out into the cold dripping rain. Bare foot, no shirt and now freezing. The incertitude in my brain said once I was with Page, everything would be fine. The slight vibrations from the intermittent thunder awakened my senses, a flash of lightning intensified her presence, I could smell her sweat. The storm sounded deadly, but only a slight mist moistened the windshield teasing my urge to hold her..."

"The rain held off until I arrived at the Wilson Ranch. Now, the storm unleashed, pelting me as I stood in Page’s driveway facing the solid rock house. Legs, shoulder width apart, shoulders squared, arms slightly bent hanging by my side. Heavy, slow breaths pushed my chest upward then outward, my head slightly lowered, eyes on Page’s open front door. The tall black Ford diesel truck stood behind me, lightning crashed every so often.
The cold rain drenching my skin, slowly beading then running off onto the ground. The wind made me colder and colder, knowing the only warmth lay within that house. A soft flickering light illuminated a path. Echoes of a Metallica song propelled my emotions forward. Each slow step the earth moved under my feet and between my toes as I crushed the water into the saturated ground..."

"She stopped, but she didn’t have to continue, she had been alone. Page had to figure out the werewolf by herself and she had made a lot of mistakes along the way.
She spoke as though she had read my mind again, “Ya , and I would not go back, ever! I would change a lot of what happened after, but I do not regret being turned.” She reached over to my side and lightly touched were she had bitten me. A mild pain came from her touch. “That’s the problem with the werewolf, it takes away most of the pain and damage, but it leaves the scars.”..."

"I park the mustang, walk to the graves and see the big sky meets the horizon giving grace to the air and a sense of peace, a feeling and appearance of home. An unforgiving drizzle moistens my face with the chill of winter killing the sense of peacefulness reminding me of the recent past, and the guilt pushes me to find the one responsible.
Sara didn’t know the truth in her death; I’m trying to understand the truth in her mother’s death that led to hers. Somehow related yet so far apart, nothing is as it appears, yet stares at you as I blindly believe in the falsehood of control. The beasts that they may be, be that which I have become..."

"I stood and looked at the grave of the one I had loved, yet I hurt and betrayed. Then as though I expected it, a caring crisp tenor voice with unique articulation from behind me said, “You feel close to that song, don’t you?”
I wasn’t frightened, it was a friend. I looked behind me where the voice had come from but there was nothing but the vast Kansas landscape, and Hoss. Confused and not wanting it to leave I responded, “What did you say?”
A healing firm hand touched my left shoulder and filled me with peace, a pure childhood emotion, the voice said “House of the Rising Sun, you seem to feel close to it for some reason.”
I faced the grave with no need to see who had spoken. “I do, I think because I feel as though my life is the same as the one in the song.”
The voice said, “Yes, I can understand that... for it was only yesterday I sat curiously watching the writer, write the song and I was thinking of you.”..."

Bradley is a pen name for Bradley Noll an American author residing
near Leavenworth Kansas. The married, father of two grown children is
new to the published author scene even though he has been writing
song lyrics, poems and short stories all of his life.

Brad
grew up on a farm outside of Winchester Kansas learning the value of
hard work. Following college, Brad spent twelve years as a Paramedic
until his second back surgery ending his successful career where he
received several letters of commendation.
Brad
spent time farming in his off days feeling the everyday pressures of
the weather, markets and juggling the debt that is associated with
large business. All the while, continuing to write songs and preform
at local venues. Following a music CD he produced named “Make
Believe” with eleven of his original songs and while in the process
of producing his second Album he realized his talent was more suited
for writing then music.
 One
day it snapped and with Brad’s influences like Merle Haggard, Chris
Kristofferson, Hank Jr., Metallica and most of all “The Man in
Black” Johnny Cash. Brad’s mentors show as in the words from the
poem 'Looking Down'
I
pulled my cowboy hat down low, Drank down my last swallow,
Of
Kentucky Bourbon and coke,
As
the World was spinning round, I knew I have to slow it down,
Cause
I’m going nowhere fast, staring at the bottom of this glass…”

 Embracing
the concept to ask the question “Why so many lose and so few win?”
Rooting for the underdog’s the longshot’s just like himself. The
ones that are not supposed to make it but push and fight with
everything they have and despite the odds, they still try.
Don’t
let the rough exterior fool you, for inside Brad is the heart of a
poet. Sometimes a tortured soul haunted by memories or questions. A
helpless romantic as seen in the poem 'When We Flew'
“…Guess
now, I can look back to then, How I can’t help but smile,
Through
these tears that hide the pain, I think of you…  every memory
remains,
But,
when we flew Girl we were something to see,
Higher
than one life could ever be,
we
flew so high we no longer believed… so we lost those dreams,
It
saddens me, until I think about, when we flew Girl, cause we were
something to see…” Nollen Bradley 2011
Brad
takes the experience from the sweat stinging his eyes from the heat
on a hot July day in Kansas. The heartache from having to tell a
parent or a child that their loved one has died and there was nothing
he could do, to the struggles of trying to pursue a dream and
watching it crumble in front of him. Brad has developed a style that
draws on real life experiences to provide exciting yet believable
story lines that captivate readers. Writing unbelievable tales with
the realism of the struggles from everyday life in the painful cookie
cutter suburban age.

My Review: 3 1/2 *

Caramels with a Side of Murder by Meredith Potts is book 2 in the Daley Buzz Mysteries Series. This book pretty much leaves off where book 1 Chocolates with a side of murder leaves off. This time Sabrina is taken by her best friend to visit Miss Terry the town psychic. Miss Terry tells Sabrina her sister will be found, but gives her no more information. The next morning Sabrina heads back to ask Miss Terry more questions. Instead of talking to her she finds Miss Terry dead.

David, Sabrina's cop boyfriend is on the case to solve the murder. Sabrina weasels her way into investigating the murder as well.

I personally do not like Sabrina or David. They interrogate everyone as if they had evidence they were guilty, instead of no evidence at all. I felt so bad for the poor son and sister. The way the 2 went after them was just shameful, but yet they were so easy on the boyfriend. They have no evidence on anyone so everyone is considered guilty until proven innocent.

When Sabrina runs into Melissa from book 1 who she accused of murder. I wanted to slap Sabrina when she got all huffy when Melissa does not accept her apology. She only apologized to try and get info on someone anyway.

I do think David should be taking the lead on the investigation instead of standing back and letting Sabrina do it. If Sabrina wants to be a cop maybe she should go to school and get her badge.

Lisa Beacom narrates this audiobook. I do prefer her narration over book ones narration with Lainie Pahos. She does very well with the character voices and kept my attention better.

I think if the characters were a bit more likable I would enjoy this series more. The story lines are good. The mystery is really good and leaves you waiting until the very last pages. That I really like. I don't really like knowing within the first few chapters who the murder is.

I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Meredith Potts. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.

Q&A with Author Meredith Potts

  • Tell us about the process of turning your book into an audiobook.
    • It’s an incredible experience hearing your words read aloud. Writing is such a solitary activity that it feels particularly special listening to a narrator make your characters come alive.
  • Do you believe certain types of writing translate better into audiobook format?
    • I certainly believe that it doesn’t hurt to have a playful, humorous writing style with snappy dialogue. Then again, whodunits probably translate well to any format. After all, who doesn’t love a good mystery?
  • How did you select your narrator?
    • I held an open audition. That’s how I’ve found both of my wonderful narrators.
  • Were there any real life inspirations behind your writing?
    • I used to work at a coffee shop for a number of years, so I used some of my real-life experiences slinging lattes as the inspiration for Daley Buzz, the cafe in my series. People are very particular about how they want their coffee and that is reflected in a number of scenes throughout the series.
  • How do you manage to avoid burn-out? What do you do to maintain your enthusiasm for writing?
    • There’s a new murder case in each book of the series, which brings a unique set of new wacky characters and motives into play. As for the writing, I try to take the weekends off. Everyone needs a break now and then.
  • Is there a particular part of this story that you feel is more resonating in the audiobook performance than in the book format?
    • The dialogue really stands out more when read aloud, I find. So much depends on the performance of the narrator, which is why I’m so glad that I found two fantastic narrators.
  • How did you celebrate after finishing this novel?
    • It really is hard to go wrong with chocolate.
  • In your opinion, what are the pros and cons of writing a stand-alone novel vs. writing a series?
    • I love writing a series because it allows me to explore different parts of a character’s personality and shine the light on various aspects of their life.
  • What bits of advice would you give to aspiring authors?
    • Write to market. And invest in the marketing of your writing.
  • What’s next for you?
    • There’s a Daley Buzz spinoff on the way. I can’t wait to share the new series with my readers and listeners.

Interview with Yumoyori Wilson:
Do your characters seem to hijack the story or do you feel like you have the reigns of the story?

BAHAHAHAHA. Oh boy, my characters pretty much do whatever they want. I always have to stir them on the main plot and areas that MUST be tackled for the sake of the story, but they basically do what they want.

Convince us why you feel your book is a must read.

Tainted Rose is the second book in the series, the first being left on a major cliffhanger that makes you crave to find out what really happened next. Overall, it's a book that deals with a lot of different topics and its nice to see the progression of the characters. Overall, the story will keep your attention with both fun happy moments, steamy situations and of course sad and action packed sections.

Have you written any other books that are not published?

I have a list of 40+ that need to be published but I have to be timely with my releases.

Pen or type writer or computer?

Computer, though I wish I had a typewriter. I bought those new bluetooth ones and hoping to get it in March.

Anything you would like to say to your readers and fans?

Thank you for believing in my work and sticking by when I wasn’t perfect. I’m still learning and only an author for 6 month, but its nice to have support from so many amazing individuals around the world. <3 font="">

Excerpt:

The tavern was dark and quiet, barring the muted voices that filled the corners with whispers of quiet corruption and deceit. Hushed sounds traveled on thick smoke to the ceiling and her eyes trailed over the dimly lit corners and over the musty cloaked patrons. Dirty exchanges took place everywhere, too-young girls being offered coins and despair by corrupt travelers, whose lies traveled like fire across the alcohol on their lips. This wasn’t a typical bar, this dark, underground dwelling in the heart of Azgul where there were more shadows than light, more smoke than air. It was a seedy, unsafe locale where illegal exchanges could occur. A place favored by those in the city’s most important positions, for in this underground dwelling they could act as they truly wished.
From where she sat, with her cloak draped low over her face, she could easily make out the group of Aren. They were more discreet than she had anticipated, but few could go unseen to her well-trained eyes. They were scattered about the bar, donning the civilian attire of common Azgul nomad passer-by. The Aren weren’t common travelers though; they were fatalistic believers who waited anxiously for a supposed impending end. A doom and darkness that would swallow the entire Daharian galaxy whole—their belief in some unimagined state of horror for the universe made her certain that not a man amongst them had ever laid eyes on Aranthol.
She scanned the room, counting twelve of the zealots. Without their robes they appeared as normal men, barring their brand, which could be seen on the base of several of their necks. The tender nape of the neck was where all in Azgul had their brands. She knew that their mark was not well-known though, not as well-known as they would have liked it to be. Thinking of the brandings nearly had Jessop reaching for her own neck, certain she could almost feel the hot iron against her still. The smell of burning, blistering flesh unnaturally recoiling from heated metal filled her nostrils. She shivered at the putrid memory and forced it back to the depths of her mind, where she kept all her locked-away thoughts and all her darkness.
Suddenly, the oddest sensation roused her, overcoming her senses. She could feel silk running across her skin, dragging her fine hairs on end, exciting her cells. The energy of the room had completely changed, thickening the air more than any smoke or liquor could do. She had only ever been around one other of her kind, and to feel the changing electromagnetic charge in the room without him present was as compelling to her as it was terrifying. The draw was a beast’s cry calling her in, feeding her need to find the one like her. It was a pull strong enough to grip her, strong enough to shoot adrenaline through her, to dilate her pupils and ready her muscles and tell her, without question, that Hunters were near.
She closed her eyes and narrowed in on their presence. She could smell the faintest scent of grease on one of them; it had an acidic air to it—like the oil slick found in the Western corner of the city. She could hear his voice though he did not speak. She could see the diminutive smudge of black slick over his boot though she did not open her eyes. Her senses—so refined—ensured she could see most of him without ever glancing his way.
And then she laid eyes on him.

The
plague is spreading out of control with no cure in sight. Then the
government announces its new plan—a sanctuary in an area completely
untouched by the infected—as long as you can get there alive and
unscathed.

Ethan
Watton has managed to survive this long, even with OCD making every
day more hellish than it already is…

Ethan’s
obsessive-compulsive disorder dramatically affected his life before
the infection began. Now he’s desperate to get as far away from the
zombie virus as humanly possible. Isolated and afraid, Ethan thinks
there is no way in hell he will survive the epidemic.

Alyssa
Turner has spent her teenage years prepping for the undead to
challenge her zombie killing skills…

Alyssa

She’s read all the books, watched all the films, and done all the

Dr.
Jones is a scientist who doesn’t understand why he was selected to
produce a cure…

Surely
there are survivors more experienced in virology than he is. And what
will happen to him—and the rest of the species—if he fails? Is
the fate of the human race really resting on his shoulders? Or are
there others working toward the same goal?

With
the zombies multiplying and survivors struggling to make it to the
sanctuary, Ethan, Alyssa, and Dr. Jones fight to fulfill their
destinies. If they fail, their fate is sealed, and they will join the
millions of others who have been…
Forgotten.

Extinct
AM13
Outbreak Book 3

Writing
books about the horrors of the zombie apocalypse is one thing—but
Georgie Blake can’t believe it has become her reality…

She
never expected her fictional stories of blood, death, and the
consumption of human flesh to jump off the page into the real world.
She certainly didn’t think she’d survive this long if they had.
As a shy novelist, she was sure she’d be one of the first to
die.

Safe
in the Sanctuary, Georgie holds on to hope for a cure...

But
that’s not all she holds on to. The government has promised the
people of the Sanctuary that they can return home. The rumours are
rife that there is an antidote on the horizon. But even if not, the
infected are dying out, throwing the treacherous AM13 virus to the
brink of extinction. If the infection dies out, this horrible
nightmare Georgie is living in will be a distant memory.

Until
everything that’s right goes terribly wrong...

Soon
after meeting some new friends in the Sanctuary, Georgie learns she’s
going to have to face the monsters outside the walls if she wants to
return to her old life. But for a scared, introverted bookworm, it
may be too much to consider...

Will
Georgina conquer her fears of the dead to return home, or will she be
one of the countless others who have gone Extinct?
