Virtual Book Tour Forbidden Song by Brooklyn Ann

Forbidden Song
by Brooklyn Ann

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE:   Romance
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

After having one of the worst experiences a young teenager could endure at the hands of cruel
musicians, Christine Mayne's rock star brother Quinn tried to lock her away from the world. She had
to fight to live her life, go to college, get her master's and enter her PhD program. Now, she's
determined to complete her research on group dynamics by touring with Bleeding Vengeance, even it
means deceiving her brother and lying to the band's fabulous lead singer, Cliff Tracey.

Cliff Tracey hates being manipulated, lied to and deceived. He'd know, having gone through a string of
exes who had done just that. When he thinks he's found a kindred spirit, and a beautiful babe to boot,
imagine his surprise - and disappointment - when he learns she played him so she can tour with his
band to complete her PhD. When he finds out why, he knows he's in double trouble because Quinn
Mayne will kill anyone who touches his sister, and Cliff Tracey has all sorts of plans for Christine
Mayne that involves more than either of them ever expected.

Excerpt Two:

Weaving his way through the backstage crowd, pausing to sign autographs along the way, he embarked on his search for the raven-haired beauty.

Luck shone upon him. There she was, off in a corner by the stage left exit. Alone.

She looked up at him and smiled with an intriguing combination of shyness and curiosity. Oh, man. Those green eyes.

He gathered his formidable charm and grinned as he approached. “Hey, are you the new girl Kat and Kin hired?”

She nodded with a slight frown and extended her hand. Fuck. He remembered Kat telling him to quit calling women girls.
“I’m Christine.”

“Cliff Tracey.” He gave her a long, slow smile, and was gratified to see her blush. Good, now he was back on the right track.
His fingers curled around hers. Damn, her skin was soft. No calluses, so she likely wasn’t a musician.

A light laugh tumbled from her lips. “I know. I really enjoyed your performance tonight. Your voice is incredible, and that solo during ‘Sorrow’s Harvest’ gave me chills. In fact, I’d wanted to talk to you.”

“Oh?” He kept his tone light and teasing to hide his excitement. She’d admired his performance. That was usually the first thing chicks said before the flirting began. Maybe he’d mistaken what he’d thought was lack of interest earlier. “About my solo?”

“No, though I’ll admit your talent does blow my mind.” She took a deep breath as if gathering her composure for some big announcement. “Aside from writing for Metalness, I’m working on my doctorate in occupational psychology and could use your help for my dissertation.”

Cliff blinked. “Oh. Uh…I only got as far as my associate’s, so I don’t know how much good I’d be. What’s the topic of your paper?”

“I’m studying the effects of group dynamics within metal bands under high stress conditions.” Her clinical tone was comical even as it was disappointing, what with her seeming lack of response to him.

“You want to study me?” he joked. In return, he could study her.

“The whole band, really,” she replied. “But I figured, since you’re the lead singer, I’d have to ask you. You see, my goal is to be able to travel on the road with a band and document my observations. I was hoping I could tag along, not only for the rest of this Metalfeed tour, but also your regular tour that starts next week.”

Cliff puffed up, happy that for once someone had acknowledged him as the leader of the band instead of Klement. Then: “Did you talk to Kat about it?” Since Christine worked for Kat, maybe the guitarist had suggested it.

Christine nodded. “She said she’d love to have me, but that she doesn’t have the seniority in the band to make that kind of call.”

Well, I’d love to have you, Cliff wanted to say, but he didn’t want to overplay his hand. “Let me think about it….”

Please choose only one set of questions to answer:

Interview with Brooklyn Ann – Forbidden Song
  1. What is your favorite part of this book and why?

Well, I of course love the part where the normally cocky, womanizing rock star, Cliff, discovers that the beautiful PhD student who convinced him to let her tag along on the tour bus to study his band is the off-limits little sister of another rock star and close colleague.

But there’s also the first kiss. The first kiss is my favorite part of every romance novel, even my own.

2. If you could spend time with a character from your book whom would it be? And what would you do during that day?

Probably Kat, the guitarist of Bleeding Vengeance. We have a lot in common, only she can do hair and makeup, so she can give me a makeover and we can talk about romance novels, and our boyfriends and our PTSD.

3. If you could have been the author of any book ever written, which book would you choose?

Ken Follett’s The Pillars of The Earth. To write an epic like that… just wow. My second answer would be George RR Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire series… just so at least there’d be hope of it being finished, lol. (Sorry, that was mean. I couldn’t help it.)

4. Are your characters based off real people or did they all come entirely from your imagination?

Klement, the bassist of With Vengeance (and the hero of With Vengeance) is loosely based on my boyfriend. Of course, back when I wrote the book, he was just a guy I had a crush on. I don’t think I would have based a romance hero on him if I’d known that we’d end up together.

5. What made you want to become a writer?

It wasn’t so much a want as something that had to happen. I had characters in my head with stories to tell and that had to come out.

1886: Ties That Bind by AE Wasserman

1886 Ties That Bind: A Story of Politics, Graft, and Greed by A.E. Wasserman

Publication Date: November 8, 2016
Archway Publishing
Hardcover, Paperback, & eBook; 370 Pages

Series: Langford Series, Book #2
Genre: Fiction/Historical

It is 1886 as Englishman Lord Langsford travels by train to San Francisco. Newly widowed, Langsford is desperate to escape his grief, demons, and life in England. As Langsford completes the last leg of his transcontinental journey, his life unexpectedly changes once again when he crosses paths with Miss Sally Baxter, a beautiful rancher who packs a pistol in her purse.

Sally has made it her mission to find the men who robbed a train and killed her brother. Unfortunately, no one—not even the owners of the Southern Pacific Railroad—seem to care. Unable to resist her pleas, Langsford offers to help Sally and soon becomes entangled in a web of politics, corruption, and greed. As murder, threats, and attacks ensue that endanger both Sally and Langsford, influential men in both California and Washington, D.C. jockey for positions of power. Langsford, who finds himself oddly attracted to Sally, now must sort through criminals and politicians alike to discover the truth behind her brother’s death and prevent his own murder.

“Not only is this a fast-paced historical mystery, 1886 Ties That Bind offers commentary on the political and social issues that are still relevant today.” – Helga Schier, PhD, author and founder of With Pen and Paper

"Wasserman’s writing is atmospherically rich. Very strongly recommended." – Historical Novel Society, London, critical review of 1884 No Boundaries

She is the author of a new mystery/thrillers series, the first of which takes place in London: 1884 No Boundaries, A Story of Espionage and International Intrigue. The second in the Langsford Series, 1886 Ties That Bind, A Story of Politics, Graft and Greed, has just been released.

Her work, critically acclaimed as “richly atmospheric,” is being noticed by readers and critics alike, and has garnered international attention, not only in the U.S., but Europe and the U.K. as well. She recently received top honors from Writer’s Digest for her work.

After graduating from The Ohio State University, she lived in London, then San Francisco. Currently she resides in Southern California with her family and her muse, a Border Collie named Topper.

Interview with AE Wasserman
Do your characters seem to hijack the story or do you feel like you have the reigns of the story?

That’s a great question, because my characters do have a mind of their own. I wouldn’t say that my protagonist, Lord Langsford, hijacks the story as much as he often figures his way out of jams quicker than I. He’s smarter, for one thing. One example, I had no idea how he was going to handle Scotland Yard’s Commissioner when he was trying to get the man to say yes, but as I was typing, Langsford was brilliant, arguing his case well and getting exactly what he wanted.

Langsford astounds me—how he finds the bad guys. Well, his mind works overtime.

That said, he never takes the reins out of my hands. As the author, I maintain control, but he is able to add the details that I could never have predicted ahead of time. I let him have freedom on the page.

Seriously, as a writer, I only plan and plot so much. The characters in my book are more organic when I allow them to develop and act within their own personalities and impulses. I am constantly amazed and amused by how this works.

Convince us why you feel your book is a must read.

1886 Ties That Bind, A Story of Politics, Graft, and Greed is a fast-paced historical mystery/thriller that begins with what appears to be a simple murder, but is far from it.

Englishman Lord Langsford visits San Francisco and meets an American ranch girl, Sally Baxter, who packs a pistol in her purse. Her brother has been murdered and Langsford finds himself helping her look for the killer. In order succeed, he must crack open the hidden political and economic agendas of wealthy men who wield great power and control Congress. Langsford discovers it is neither simple nor safe to untangle their intricately woven net of intrigue to find the killer.

When I began researching for this novel, I had little idea how much well-documented graft and greed I would discover. My research for the story gave me an insightful perspective on political and social issues that are still relevant today.

Relevant, then and now—how the people in government and business interact is still the same. There truly is nothing new under the sun. Power and Money. Murder.

Oh, and of course—I still included the boy-meets-girl theme. That’s a must and a truth no matter what the era.

Have you written any other books that are not published?

Thanks for asking. You bet I do. Another novella is with the editor right now, and the draft of the next major novel, 1888 The Dead & The Desperate is almost complete.

There are two other Langsford’s books already out: 1884 No Boundaries, A Story of Espionage and International Intrigue, and 1885 Crossings.

Pen or type writer or computer?

Heck, I write with whatever I have handy. I’m not always with my laptop with an idea strikes. I have notebooks in the glove compartment of the car, post-its in my purse. I’ll scribble on a napkin. If there’s an idea, a turn of phrase that strikes me, a plot twist that pops in my head, I need to capture it right then and there. Even with crayon and toilet paper.

However, the majority of my writing is done on my laptop, but I’m not opposed to lined legal pads and pencils, either.

I edit both online and on hardcopy. What I’ve found interesting is that I notice different things when reading either ways. Someone told me new studies show that eye movements are different with each manner of reading and I believe that. I will read through my work on the laptop, but then I print it out and read again, and “find” other places to edit. Fascinating how different it is—even my reading rhythm alters when I read in either mode. Perhaps it’s because I originally read everything on paper/hardcopy. The younger generation now growing up with cell phones and iPads may never use paper for reading and writing.

Anything you would like to say to your readers and fans?

Yes, two things:

  1. Read and enjoy. That’s why I write. I wrote the last book that came out recently, 1885 Crossings, because readers asked what happened to two characters in the original book of the Langsford Series. So I wrote this “spin-off” novella for them.

  1. Please Note: Yes, I’ve written a series, but the story lines do not cross. The books are a series, but not a serial. All have Lord Langsford, Tom Pelham, and of course a Border Collie in each of them, but other than that, they stand alone.

Readers will find themselves in London in 1884 No Boundaries (which deals with terrorism and espionage.) In this novel, 1886 Ties That Bind, they’ll be in San Francisco for a taste of love and American politics. The novella, 1885 Crossings . . . well, if I tell you where that one is, it might be a spoiler, but love and situational ethics abound.

Mike
was born in California and has lived in multiple states from the west
coast to the east coast. He cannot remember a time when he wasn't
reading a book. At school, home, on vacation, at work at lunch time,
and yes even a few pages in the car (at times when he just couldn't
put that great book down). Though he has read all sorts of genres he
has always been drawn to fantasy. It is his way of escaping to a
simpler time filled with magic, wonders and heroics of young men and
women.

Other
than reading, Mike has always enjoyed the outdoors. From the beaches
in Southern California to the warm waters of North Carolina. From the
waterfalls in the Northwest to the Rocky Mountains in Utah. Mike has
appreciated the beauty that God provides for us. He also enjoys
hiking, discovering nature, playing a little basketball or
volleyball, and most recently disc golf. He has a lovely wife who has
always supported him, and three beautiful children who have been the
center of his life.

Mike
began writing stories in elementary school and moved on to larger
novels in his early adult years. He has worked in corporate finance
for most of his career. That, along with spending time with his
wonderful family and obligations at church has made it difficult to
find the time to truly dedicate to writing. In the last few years as
his children have become older he has returned to doing what he truly
enjoys - writing!

"FIVE
STARS!" by Ellie and AJSW

"LOVED
THE JOURNAL FORMAT! RECOMMEND THIS SERIES!" by DJS

The
first short story in the Occuli series is here!

A
Golden-Eyed, or "Aureus", has one sole purpose in life: to
protect. Raised from children to be bodyguards, these Occuli are both
the fastest and strongest and are commonly used as fierce
weapons.

Frequently
they are not what they seem however, as they can be tempted by too
much power and control over those they protect. This can lead them
down a dark and dangerous path.

This
supplement to Book One of the Occuli series, gives the reader a more
intimate look at the character of Zias. In this story the reader is
taken through Zias' personal journal, giving his perspective on the
journey so far with Remy and the other Occuli. He tells the story
through his eyes about his struggle to remember his past and break
from traditions and curses, while putting it all on the line for the
love of his life, Remy Verbetta.

The
Violet Eyed
The
Occuli Series Book 3

"Christie
Stenzel’s incredible writing style is intoxicating, drawing the
reader into a magical world where anything and everything is
possible… I thoroughly enjoyed The Violet Eyed, and wholeheartedly
recommend it to readers aged over 15 years, who are fans of the
paranormal, mystery, drama, romance, and finding oneself through it
all..." Excerpt from the 5 STAR review from Readers' Favorite,
March 2017

This
tale of mystery, romance, intrigue and deceit, follows Remy's sister
Violet through her tragic life.

As
we delve into secrets of the past, present and future and explore
Violet's relationships, we learn about her struggle against the
darkness as she learns who and what she truly is and that her entire
life has also been a lie.

A
unique breed of Occuli, Violet's eyes match her namesake. Being
cursed from birth, will she find the strength to defeat the darkness
within, or will she succumb to the darkness that is her nature?

consequences of those actions are.

As
the book progresses, it becomes apparent that a Golden-Eyed has now
"turned Amber" and the Occuli family and friends must come
to terms with what this means and what the end result will be....

Writing
and reading are my passions! My dream to be a writer began, when as a
five year old child I would ask my mother to write down the stories I
would make up about talking dogs.

Since
growing up and becoming further educated with a Bachelor's Degree in
English (I have an affinity for classic literature), a Master's
Degree in Leadership, and a degree in Ultrasound, I have begun to
pursue that dream in hopes of one day making it my career. I have
many interests and ideas so my ultimate goal is to release works of
fiction in multiple genres. Fantasy will always be my first love
however, as I have always had an intense imagination that threatens
to inundate me if not expelled onto paper.

I
currently have six published books: an ongoing fantasy series with
four installments so far (and a fifth one coming soon!), a fantasy
short story, and a suspense/thriller short story. Several of my books
have won awards, but the first book in my fantasy series, The Grey
Eyed Storm: The Occuli, Book One, has now won 7 wonderful awards
which is very exciting!

Aside
from writing, I enjoy physical activities like running and yoga. I am
blessed to have an amazing family, close friends and two beloved
canine companions.

Sneaking Out by Chuck Vance blitz

Sneaking Out
Chuck Vance
(Chased, #1)
Published by: Dunemere Books
Publication date: March 6th 2018
Genres: Mystery, Young Adult
Could you sleep next to a murderer?
Luke Chase—yes, that Luke Chase, a modern hero ripped from the headlines—didn’t mean to get caught up in Mrs. Heckler’s murder. He just wanted to hook up with the hot new British girl at St. Benedict’s, and if that meant sneaking out to the woods after hours, then so be it. But little did he know someone would end up dead right next to their rendezvous spot, and his best friend and roommate Oscar Weymouth would go down for it. With suspects aplenty and a past that’s anything but innocent, Luke Chase reluctantly calls on his famous survival skills to find the true killer.
For fans of “A Study in Charlotte” and boarding school lit, “Sneaking Out” (book one in the “Chased” series) immerses readers in the privileged prep school world, with a mystery that exposes the dark side of life on a residential high school campus.
EXCERPT:
Luke stood up and held out a hand to help Pippa up. He didn’t let go after she rose, and he clasped it firmly as they walked together. It didn’t feel awkward—he’d already held her hand a couple of times. He felt protective. They walked along in silence.
They passed a mailbox, its hinge squeaking in the wind. The wind had picked up a plastic bag, which was scraping along the road, dancing with the fallen leaves. Every noise was amplified.
Luke pulled Pippa toward him to avoid a ditch. It was then that Luke sensed something. He glanced over his shoulder, and saw the flash of someone jump behind a tree. Luke’s muscles tensed. They were being followed.
“Don’t turn around, but someone is behind us,” warned Luke. “On foot.”
He saw Pippa’s neck stiffen. “Who is it?” she whispered.
“Not sure, but let’s speed up.”
They started walking as fast as possible without running. Luke felt as if there was a bullseye on his back. Was the person who was following them crazy enough to do something to harm them? What if he had a gun?
They were about a block away from the nearest streetlight. Luke feared that if they walked under it, they would be completely exposed to whoever was following them. It seemed safer to remain in the shadows. He abruptly pulled Pippa diagonally across the street. They picked up their pace and stayed on course.
“We’ll be able to see who it is when they pass the streetlight,” said Luke.
“Do you think he crossed, too?”
Luke pricked his ears. He could hear a distant tap, tap. Footsteps. “No, he’s on the other side.”
They walked past the streetlight and up about thirty feet before stopping short and turning around. For a split second, they saw a figure bathed in the light, but then it darted to the side. It looked like a man, in a baseball hat. But he was too fast for them. Luke grabbed Pippa’s hand tightly.”
“We need to run.”
