A Witch's Trial (Witch for Hire #3) by N. E. Conneely

Author: N.E. Conneely

Narrator: Jeff Hays, Soundbooth Theater

Series: A Witch's Path, Book 3

Length: 7 hours 49 minutes

Publisher: N.E. Conneely

Released: Sep. 10, 2015

Genre: Paranormal, Supernatural

When Michelle pulls an old book out of a fire, she finds answers and heartbreak. The book confirms that a demon walks the land, though according to legend they were all dead. Now, she needs to rediscover the secrets to killing demons before her loved ones fall victim.
Elron's budding relationship with Michelle suffers a blow when his mate returns. While he struggles with love and guilt, it becomes clear that not everyone gets their happily-ever-after.

N.E. Conneely lives in northern Georgia with her dog and a mountain of books. They sweat through the summer and freeze through the winter, and life as they know it comes to an end when so much as a single snowflake falls out of the sky. For fun, N.E. plays with her dog, reads, knits, crochets, paints, and does tie-dyeing and origami. She makes a great pizza and is currently negotiating with her husband about raising sea monkeys and growing a vegetable garden.

Jeff Hays has made a name for himself in the audio book world by creating immersive experiences out of his productions. His versatility and authenticity in voicing characters, expressive low-impact narration, and dedication to offering the highest quality audio possible has earned him a loyal following of listeners. And now, having produced more than 80 audio books and perfecting his craft, using the namesake of his live streaming narration show, the Soundbooth Theater shingle has been hung. Soundbooth Theater is dedicated to applying Jeff's production methods to new audio books with other budding narrator talent, and expanding his scope from audio books, to voicing and producing animation.

My Review: 3 1/2 *
Witch's Trial is the 3rd book in the A Witch's Path series by N E Conneely. This book picks up where book 2 leaves off. I have to admit it was not my favorite of the 3 books. This book was not as action packed as the other 2 and well Michelle was pretty whiny in this book. She has always been tough and a whiny Michelle just didn't set well with me. The book did give a lot of backstory to the other 2 books though. It was nice to know how things more or less started to some of the open ended story lines in books 1 and 2. Elron does finally get his place as co-star in the series.

In this book Michelle is getting invitations from covens all over and some of them are down right pushy. Michelle and the gang are gearing up to go after the Grimoree. Elron and Michelle are getting closer even with the newfound knowledge that his wife Sylvia is still alive but also knowing that she must die.

I have enjoyed this series even if this was not my favorite of the 3. I will be looking for more books buy N E Conneely as well.
I received this audiobook as part of my participation in a blog tour with Audiobookworm Promotions. The tour is being sponsored by Jeff Hays. The gifting of this audiobook did not affect my opinion of it.

Las Vegas Girl by Leslie Wolfe

Las Vegas Girl
by Leslie Wolfe

Genre: Crime Suspense Thriller

Detectives
Laura Baxter and Jack Holt
 are
members of the elite: Las Vegas Metro PD, one of the toughest and
most respected law enforcement agencies in the United States. In the
middle of a city with two million residents and 43 million annual
visitors, they’re hunting for a killer.

The
crime: audacious

In
a glamorous Las Vegas hotel, in front of hundreds of witnesses and
under the lenses of countless video surveillance cameras, a young
girl is brutally murdered. What promises to be a quick and easy
investigation soon becomes a nightmare. The most recorded crime in
Vegas is missing one key protagonist, the killer.

The
forensics: stupefying

A
crime-scene fingerprint unleashes dozens of unsettling questions
instead of providing answers. Was this a murder for hire? In the
politically-charged case, the scenario seems plausible; the victim’s
secret life could’ve been the obstacle in an ambitious politician’s
path. As the investigation unspools the well-concealed secrets
surrounding the girl’s life, Baxter and Holt attract the attention
of someone desperate to keep history’s terrible secrets
buried.

The
truth: shocking

A
testimony from beyond the grave turns into a death warrant for the
two unrelenting detectives. While they expose a connection with the
victim’s distant past that could hold the key to catching her
killer, they must learn to rely on each other to survive.

Two
mavericks make an intriguing team.
Baxter
and Holt trust each other with their lives, only not with their
darkest secrets.

Fans
of James Patterson, David Baldacci, Karin Slaughter, and Robert
Dugoni will be engrossed in this unputdownable police procedural that
will keep you reading until the break of dawn.

Bad Wolf by Jo Raven blitz

Bad Wolf
Jo Raven
Publication date: February 8th 2018
Genres: Adult, Romance

This is no fairytale…

Once I fell in love with a gorgeous boy next door.

Years later, he’s back—a total hunk, hot as hell, and bad. So bad.

Rude. Cocky. Hard.

And I’m dying for a taste.

Jarett was our neighbors’ adopted son.

Handsome, strong, quiet, he was my protector, and my friend.

Now he’s back, and he’s still gorgeous.

Tall, dark and sexy. All man.

But he’s a bad guy, moving with a dangerous crowd.

So why do I keep winding up in his arms?

On his lap. In his bed.

I know better than this—I’m better than this. I should stop.

Only my heart tells me there’s good inside Jarett.

That I could save him.

Then again, what happens to gullible girls who climb into bed with the big bad wolf?

…Right.

EXCERPT:

Gigi is standing at the open door, the loud rock music spilling out into the alley. She looks left, then right, as if searching for someone. No great leap of the imagination required to know she’s looking for her friend.

And she sees me. Her gaze stops on me.

She steps all the way out and lets the door close behind her. “Rett?”

Fuck. This is fucking bad. I suck on my cigarette and wait. Maybe she’ll take the hint and go away.

But Gigi never cared what I said or did, back then. She stuck by my side through my silences and snarky comments.

Obviously she hasn’t changed.

She heads straight to me, plants herself in front of me and shakes back her white-blond hair. “Rett. What now, you’ll pretend you can’t see me?”

Damn, how could I ever pretend that? She’s wearing a low-cut red sweater over a tiny skirt and those damn knee-length socks that drive me crazy. Girl likes wearing red. And damn if I can tear my eyes away from her cleavage.

I’m so fucking hard I’m about to bust a nut.

“What do you want?” I mutter, flicking ash from my cigarette, a thoughtless gesture, when it becomes clear she isn’t budging.

“Did you see Sydney out here? I’ve lost her again.”

She smells of something sweet, like toffee. My mouth waters. My dick throbs. She smells like home, and like pleasure, and like danger all at once.

“Go away, Gigi,” I whisper. “Go back inside. That’s where your friend is.”

“So you saw her.”

Throwing my cigarette away, I take a step toward her. “Go now.” She’s wearing down all of my self-control. I have to send her back inside, send her away from me. Having her around is risky on a thousand different levels.

She takes a step back. “Not unless you tell me what you saw. Did she buy drugs? Tell me, Jarett.”

“And what will you do if I tell you?” I back her into the club’s fire escape ladder. “What the fuck can you do about it?”

“Not me. She won’t listen to me, or talk to me about this. But you could help me.”

I blink, not sure I heard her well. I’m looking down into her pretty eyes, at her full, red mouth, and shake my head. “What did you say?”

“For old times’ sake, Rett… I need your help.”

EXCERPT:

The chopper takes a sharp right turn, and then we are turning back across the island, toward the eastern side. I peer out the window, retracing our flight pattern in my head, glancing sideways at the three men beside me. They are unfazed by the sudden change in direction. I glance up toward the cockpit. Something uneasy stirs inside me, but I push the feeling away.

I am safe with these men. If the pilot is altering course, it’s purely because there is a change in the weather pattern. He will get me to where I need to go.

There are a lot of people who would like to see you dead.

I curse myself, and then I shout,

“Hey, why are we turning?”
The man beside me replies, “The pilot knows what he’s doing, ma’am.”

“That wasn’t my question!”
“I’m not the pilot, ma’am. I don’t know.”

“Our flight pattern was very clear. We shouldn’t be altering course.”

“Ma’am, I don’t know—”

I reach toward the earpiece in my ear, intending to key into the pilot’s headset and inquire directly about our change in course. The man beside me places his hand on my wrist.

“Ma’am,” he says, firmly. “Don’t.”

I glance at his face. It’s hard to read his expression—stony, direct. I push his hand away.

“Stand down, soldier,” I say.

I raise my hand again, and this time, he grabs my wrist and shoves my arm behind my back. It happens in the span of a single breath—fast, fluid, and efficient. Unfortunately for him, I am equally as fast. One year on the road as president has not even slightly dulled my reflexes or instincts. I immediately take in three things about him: One, his patch reads Douglas. Two, he’s at least two hundred and fifty pounds. Three, he’s trying to break my arm.

I use my right hand to grab the knife in my boot and swing it around. I slash the right side of his cheek open and he screams. Hot blood gushes from his face. I realize in this moment that the other two men in the chopper have risen from their seats. At first, I think they are coming to my assistance.

Wrong.

One has his handgun drawn. I unbuckle my harness.

Adrenaline. Here it comes. The supercharged rush, the inhuman strength. It flashes through my body, giving me speed and finesse I have not experienced since I took on the mantle of the presidency.
