Frank
J. Edler
My
mother was an alien and my father was a lamp post. I was fed a steady
dose of soap bars as a child as punishment for my foul mouth and
incessant pranks. Little did anyone know the soap only made me
stronger, faster, more agile. My brain filled with bubbles that were
99.9% pure. It was an amazing time. I left the city and moved out to
the country where I heard tell there is an amazing banana bread
store. I never found it, but I did find love. I loved that tuna
sandwich like no other and we were married on the Fourth of July,
just like Tom Cruise in that one movie about said date. It was a
magical time but alas was not meant to be. I ate it. I tried to move
on, writing books and sharing them with the local townsfolk. They
would tell me to shut up and make sure I flushed before I left. Never
once did I wash my hands like the signs demanded. So here I am, dirty
handed and telling my tales. Wanna hear one?

Tom
Clark
is a writer, and a
veteran internet journalist and podcast producer. His work has been
seen in websites such as This is Infamous and Rue Morgue, among other
freelance outlets. He currently produces podcasts at Project
Entertainment Network, including his shows: the long running heavy
metal and horror themed the Necrocasticon, and the Curtain Jerkers, a
comedic take on pro wrestling podcasting. Tom’s debut novella,
“Good Boy” will be self published and available through all your
digital reading outlets in 2018. Tom and his wife live in the wilds
of upstate New York, cohabiting with a pair of Jack Russell Terriers
and their pet rabbit.

BRIAN
KEENE

is the author of over forty books, mostly in the horror, crime, and
dark fantasy genres. His 2003 novel, The Rising, is often credited
(along with Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead comic and Danny
Boyle’s 28 Days Later film) with inspiring pop culture’s current
interest in zombies. Keene’s novels have been translated into
German, Spanish, Polish, Italian, French, Taiwanese, and many more.
In addition to his own original work, Keene has written for media
properties such as Doctor Who, The X-Files, Hellboy, Masters of the
Universe, and Superman.

Several
of Keene’s novels have been developed for film, including Ghoul,
The Ties That Bind, and Fast Zombies Suck. Several more are
in-development or under option.

Keene’s
work has been praised in such diverse places as The New York Times,
The History Channel, The Howard Stern Show, CNN.com, Publisher’s
Weekly, Media Bistro, Fangoria Magazine, and Rue Morgue Magazine. He
has won numerous awards and honors, including a World Horror Grand
Master award, two Bram Stoker awards, and a recognition from Whiteman
A.F.B. (home of the B-2 Stealth Bomber) for his outreach to U.S.
troops serving both overseas and abroad. A prolific public speaker,
Keene has delivered talks at conventions, college campuses, theaters,
and inside Central Intelligence Agency headquarters in Langley, VA.

upcoming anthology from Unnerving called Hardened Hearts coming in at
the end of 2017. Many other works in various genres are in progress
as well.

And now, an interview with the star of the short story Mr. Giggles, part of the Project Entertainment Network’s My Favorite Story Podcast Anthology, the one and only Mr. Giggles.

Nameless Interviewer:  Tell us, how did you land the prestigious role of Mr. Giggles in the blockbuster short story, Mr. Giggles, Mr. Giggles?

Mr. Giggles:  Do you want to play with me?

NI: Well, yeah, sure. But first I’d like to get this interview with you. Mr. Giggles, what was it like working on set with actual vile, putrid demons from Hell?

MrG: I love to tell jokes. Do you want to hear a joke? It's a very funny joke!

NI: Okay, but then we really need to finish up this interview. I have a deadline you know.?

MrG: Knock, knock.

NI: Who’s there?

MrG: Bannana Pants

NI: Bannana Pants who?

MrG: Banna Pants with peanut butter and farts!

NI: Okay then. On with the interview. The rumor mill has been buzzing about an in-story romance that may have brewed when the pen wasn’t writing. Is it true that you and your demon co-star, Mooga, got rather friendly?

MrG: Ewww! Cooties!  Tag, you’re it!

NI: Honestly, I don’t want to play tag. I have a job to do. I’ve got five more press junkets before lunch. Can’t we just get on with this, Mr. Giggles? I’m sure one of the other journalists will be feeling more spry and will join you in a game of tag. The guy from Rolling Stone sure looks like he’d rather be playing tag than writing for that rag.

MrG: Hug time!

NI: Ugh, no! Mr. Giggles, please! Personal space! No, you can’t initiate that type of physical contact in our current social climate. Oooof, thats a little too tight. Ow, yeah, you’re actually starting to kinda hurt me. This has gone well beyond any legal thresholds in this state. Oh my God, you’re squeezing me so tight your flesh is melding into mine! Stop! Stop! Arrrrrghhhhh!

Nameless Interviewer: Teeheeheehee! Do YOU want to play with me?

Drakon’s Past by N.J. Walters blitz

Drakon’s Past
N.J. Walters
(Blood of the Drakon #4)
Published by: Entangled: Amara
Publication date: January 29th 2018
Genres: Adult, Paranormal, Romance
Constance Owens has a gift for finding unique items in the most unlikely places, which comes in handy since she buys and sells artifacts and antiques for a living. When she purchases a set of four dragon statues, she has no idea just how unique they are, or that finding them will thrust her into a world of secret societies, men who think nothing of kidnapping and murder to get what they want, and dragon shifters.
Nic hasn’t survived for four thousand years by letting his guard down, and he doesn’t trust anyone except his drakon brothers. The loneliness haunting him has been getting worse since all his brothers have found their mates. And when he finds the woman his drakon recognizes instantly as his fated mate, he doubts he’ll ever have what his brothers have, because it seems she’s involved with the secret society of hunters who have been hunting and capturing his kind for hundreds of years.
The Blood of the Drakon series is best enjoyed in order

Reading Order:

Book #1: Drakon’s Promise

Book #2: Drakon’s Prey

Book #3: Drakon’s Plunder

Book #4: Drakon’s Past
EXCERPT:
Constance blinked. She heard Abigail scream and some of the men yell. Nic had to be about fifteen feet long, and that wasn’t including his long, powerful tail, which was tucked around him.
He rose on his back legs and released his wings. The spread had to be at least double the size of his body.
Nic was a dragon.
She shook her head. Impossible.
Nic. Was. A. Dragon.
She’d had sex with a dragon. She was in love with a bloody dragon. How was this even possible? Then she remembered what Nic had told her about Dent and how the group he belonged to wanted to capture him and drink his blood. She couldn’t let that happen.
But it was too late. Dent fired at her again, and Nic pounced, coming down over her. She feared he might crush her with his gigantic body, but instead, he crouched above her like some big watchdog, shielding her from any further bullets.
The moment he was inside the circle, something changed. He roared as though he was in pain. She scrambled out from beneath him. “Nic? Nic, what’s wrong?” Stupid question all things considered, but this was something different, something he hadn’t been expecting.
These statues were dangerous to him.
He turned his big head toward her and opened his mouth. God, those were big teeth. All the better to eat her with. Yeah, not a pleasant thought. In this form, she’d barely be a snack.
“Run.” The word was guttural, as though it had been pulled from him.
He’d known. He’d known she’d planned to betray him, and still he was trying to save her. If she hadn’t already loved him, she would have fallen in that moment. Man or beast, it didn’t matter. He’d known. He’d known she’d planned to betray him, and still he was trying to save her. If she hadn’t already loved him, she would have fallen in that moment. Man or beast, it didn’t matter.

Author Bio:
Once upon a time N.J. had the idea that she would like to quit her job at the bookstore, sell everything she owned, leave her hometown, and write romance novels in a place where no one knew her. And she did. Two years later, she went back to the bookstore and her hometown and settled in for another seven years.
One day she gave notice at her job on a Friday morning. On Sunday afternoon, she received a tentative acceptance for her first romance novel and life would never be the same.
N.J. Walters is a New York Times and USA Today Bestselling author who has always been a voracious reader, and now she spends her days writing novels of her own. Vampires, werewolves, dragons, time-travelers, seductive handymen, and next-door neighbors with smoldering good looks—all vie for her attention. It’s a tough life, but someone’s got to live it.

Ages of Invention
Book One
S.B.K. Burns

Genre: PNR, Sci-Fi,
Time-Travel, Steampunk

Date of Publication: December 2016

ISBN: 1521172862
ASIN: B01N6EE13Q

Number of pages: 320
Word Count: 79290

Cover Artist: Fiona Jayde

Book Descriptions:

She’s Hume’n, a member of the lower class, with one chance to change her life…

In an alternate, twenty-first century Boston, Dawn Jamison is a hair’s breadth away from earning her doctorate degree—a degree that would allow her entrance into the upper class, to become the unemotional and self-disciplined Cartesian she is now only pretending to be. To reach her goal, all Dawn must do is overcome her forbidden attraction to the Olympic-class weightlifter Taylor Stephenson who’s just crashed her lectures on past life regression. She must also teach her group of misfit students how to travel back into their past lives—and, oh, of course, figure out how to save the great scientists of the early eighteenth century before they’re inextricably caught up in a time loop.

He’s Cartesian, a member of the upper class, and supposed to know better…

Coerced by his politically powerful, wheelchair-bound brother into spying on Dawn’s past-life regression classes, Taylor knows better than to give into his desire to claim Dawn as his own. But his past-life entity, eighteenth-century Colin, has no such inhibitions. When Taylor and Dawn meet up in Scotland in the 1700s, all the discipline he’s forced on his twenty-first-century self disintegrates in the past, leaving only his overwhelming lust for Dawn’s past-life double, Lily. Unable to escape their sexually obsessive past, Dawn and Taylor find themselves in a race against the clock at the epicenter of a world-altering time quake of their own making.

Excerpt
Entangled:

Before Dawn had
finished the second suggestive sentence of her self-regression, she was here in
the misty Lowlands of Scotland, not far outside Edinburgh. As on her previous
trips, she was literally in Lily’s body, experiencing all the woman’s senses
and emotions, but none of her thoughts. So frustrating.

Book Description:

It’s 1824 Philadelphia at the opening of the Franklin Institute of Science, and one of its founders, Samantha’s father, wants her to marry his business partner, a much older man, to keep their war industry dealings secret.

Looking for a way out of the arranged marriage, tomboy Sam finds it in Eagle, the half Native American son of the man she is to marry.

Eagle brings Samantha into his spiritual world, his bimijiwan, in order that she might stop their father’s preparations for an ironclad Civil War at sea. To do this, Sam might have to convince Benjamin Franklin to abandon his kite experiment.

Excerpt
Fly Like An Eagle:

Samantha had
most probably escaped to the house. Migizi (Eagle) would return her shawl,
hoping by the time he caught up to her, she would have put on something a
little less fetching.

Her father had
been wrong about him. Leaving me alone with Ronaldson’s nubile daughter? Look
at her as a sister? He’d have more success taking flight by jumping off a cliff
and flapping his arms.

About the Author:

Both romance and science have been central to the life of S.B.K. Burns (Susan). As a teen, she wrote romantic musicals between quarterbacks and cheerleaders. After a career as both a science teacher and advanced degrees in science, she began a ten-year journey of paranormal romance novel writing. Her ten books include two series: LEGENDS OF THE GOLDENS (about psychic vampires that protect humans from the baddies, even when the humans are not too keen on getting saved) and AGES OF INVENTION (alternate science history/steampunk: where Electress Sophia of The House of Hanover (ancestor to today’s British royalty) runs a time machine where she helps our heroes and heroines save the great scientists of history.

Interview with S.B.K. Burns

Where do you get inspiration for your stories?
When it comes to my series AGES OF INVENTION, I think of great mathematicians and scientists on which our contemporary society is based. Then I try to imagine what it might be like for these inventions (like smart-phone computers) to come into existence years earlier (genre: steampunk). I want to create characters of the time that are interested in reading, fine arts, and theater arts.
How did you do research for your book?
Once I’ve chosen an era of technology, I look up all the information on the year the story starts. One important theme for me is prejudice and how to make the romance between the two main characters forbidden in their societies, and what they do about it. (By the way, highlighting and researching just one year is a good way to get your feet wet in historicals, if you want to write a period piece, or just want to highlight a bit of history. Most historicals take lots of time to write (maybe one book per year or more), so for me that would be a considerable challenge in the future.)
Do you have another profession besides writing?
I was a science teacher, an engineer, and an applied mathematician. Now I enjoy developing my own science philosophy and cosmology based on my published research (http://www.TheUnionOfOpposites.com). Once a month, I spend my time taking pictures of the setting full moon over a ridge toward the Pacific (posted on my Facebook page). What caught my eye at first was how, like the setting sun, it changes its shape and color as it sets behind mountains, trees, and houses. I also enjoy taking duration photos of stars peeking out from behind and between the wispy clouds.
If you could go back in time, where would you go?
This takes some thought. At first I thought of famous scientists. Then I thought about taking the risk to be there 65 million years ago, maybe just before the dinosaur-killing meteor so I could see an actual T-Rex up close and personal. But I decided that no matter where or when I traveled, it wouldn’t be as entertaining as I imagine it to be. That’s why my husband never tells me where we’re going on our anniversary. He wants me to be surprised. If I knew anything about where we were going, I would imagine it to be far more exciting than anything in this real world can be, and I’d disappoint myself!
What is your next project?
I’m working on three projects at the moment:
  1. Flat Spin: a SFR (an adult Science Fiction Romance) that is based on my experiences working in aerospace forensics at a US Air Force base. (Out Spring of 2018)
  2. Other: a young adult (YA) space opera sci-fi about android-like Earth explorers out to save real human descendants on a planet going into an ice age because of declining solar radiation from a dying sun. (Out Summer of 2018)
  3. Just A Little Drop Of Black: This is my NANOWRIMO, African-American contemporary where I resurrect my dark-phase albino heroine from LEGENDS OF THE GOLDENS SERIES as an emergency physician who volunteers with firefighters, and especially one reluctant Cameron who is fire chief and ex Navy SEAL. He wants to marry into his culture and she’s not black enough to qualify. (Out Fall of 2018)

Taming Mia Teaser Tuesday

Paranormal Romance/New Adult
Date Published: 2/2/18
Publisher: Decadent Publishing

 photo add-to-goodreads-button_zpsc7b3c634.png

Mia is finally getting what she’s always wanted—the chance to be off on her own at college. Her own apartment, sexy college guys, and, most importantly, no more pride rules to follow. At least not until after graduation, when she’ll return home and marry the mate her father, the alpha, chooses for her. Until then, Mia is determined to enjoy her freedom to the fullest. And when Tristan comes along, she knows she’s met the perfect fling.

It’s Tristan’s last year at Mountain Ridge University. He’s ready for some smooth sailing, including no girl drama. As a jaguar shifter, he’s not interested in a relationship, and certainly not a mate. Mia is the answer to what he’s looking for—playful, sassy, and seeking a bit of no- strings-attached fun.

But is there more to their relationship than either of them is willing to admit?

Excerpt

Mia padded softly along the rocky, moonlit trail. Her cat eyes were well-adjusted to the darkness, and she carefully took in all of her surroundings. The large, craggy boulders and tall saguaro cacti loomed high above her in the canyon, and the sounds of small animals rustling in the bushes called to the hunter in her. Mmm. Yum. She’d love to do some hunting...but it would have to wait for another time. For now, she had something a little tastier in mind.

Her paws barely made a sound as she traveled down the path. She stepped delicately around a particularly spiky plant—she’d learned the hard way a few nights ago when she’d had to end her run early due to a pawful of cactus stickers. On high alert, she scanned the trail for other prickly invaders.

She nimbly jumped onto a large boulder and sat back on her haunches. She sniffed the air. Her whiskers twitched. The smells of the desert filled her nostrils—pungent and crisp, scents of earth and life. Mia was learning to love the way the desert smelled after a rain.

It also smelled of him. Mia had picked up his scent several minutes ago, and she knew he was close. But where was he? He had suggested they meet on this trail, and, now, he wanted to play hard to get. That damn sneaky cat.

It was a good thing she wanted to play, too. She didn’t even care why he had been so pissed off earlier—she just wanted to see him. To touch him. To taste him. She’d gone off to college to have fun, and she sure as hell was determined to do so. She wanted to forget about Asher, Rob, and most of all, her father’s meddling in things that didn’t concern him. Tonight, amidst the wide- open spaces of the canyon and the cool night air, she was going to do whatever the hell she pleased.

She scanned the canyon walls. A flicker of movement on a rocky ledge nearby caught her attention. A flick of a tail. The soft glint of moonlight reflecting off keen, predatory eyes. Tristan. He knew she saw him, and he inched slowly out of the shadows, his belly low to the ground. A low rumble emanated from deep within his chest.

He walked out to the edge of the outcropping. The strength of his jaguar emanated from him, his sleek spotted body accentuated with powerful shoulders and legs. He was the biggest feline shifter she’d ever seen. The rumbling purr in his chest turned into a fierce roar, vibrating across the canyon walls.

Oh, yes. A shudder went down Mia’s spine, electrifying all the nerves in her body. She wanted nothing more than to rub herself all over him. She purred, her insides turning into delightfully liquid goo as she thought about how his beautiful fur would feel against hers. His gaze penetrated her, ready to devour her. He was the predator...and she was his prey tonight.

Oh, yeah? Well, you can come and get it, then, big boy. You wanted to run tonight, so we’ll run.

Mia rose, standing strong on her lean, powerful legs. She belted out the loudest roar she could muster. Then she turned on her heels and bolted down the path.

She had no problem with the jaguar devouring every inch of her body tonight. But he’d have to catch her, first.
