In order to keep the tentative peace formed between the various races of powerful beings who rule side by side, she must face her own demons. Mainly one, Cristobal Cortez.

Now a master vampire, and lord of the seven cities surrounding New Orleans, her former lover has moved up in the world. Their relationship gets way more complicated when his court is framed for a rash of murders they didn’t commit.

Forced to play her role as his bond mate, and launch an investigation into the darkness threatening to overturn truces, she may be in over her head.

Excerpt:
I spot his form
on the outskirts. Though, I’m loathe to admit it, my night vision is better
than a human’s. Energy crackles on my fingertips. Bright green sparks break the
inky blackness of night. My stomach sours. Being in the same space works as an
amplifier for us. I’m manifesting new powers. He’s turned me into something
foreign. Physical manifestation of magic is rare and left to the most powerful.
I curl my hands
into fists. He foresaw this all those years ago in that graveyard. He
recognized the potential of the two of us could create together. My chest
aches. Some wounds cut too deep to ever fully heal. Angers pools in my belly. I
wanted love. I got lies and manipulation instead. A pulsing ball of energy
forms in front of me. I’m hypnotized by the technic-color glow. How could this
come from me?
I shake under
the strain of maintaining it. What was created in anger is burning off my
reserves.
“Let. It. Go.”
The command
given in a dulcet tone snaps my hold on the newly discovered power. The ball
hurtles toward him. I resend the magic, knowing the back lash of the abrupt
interruption of signal flow is going to be a bitch. Lifted off my feet by a
form of magical feedback, I’m pitched back violently. My stomach drops, and
then I’m caught in a strong pair of arms. The gravity of seeing him in person
so close up presses down on me as I drown in his chocolate colored gaze. My
tongue sticks to the rough of my mouth. All thought flees as my barriers buckle
like the compromised hull of a ship. The high, well-sculpted cheek bones lead
down to a strong, diamond shaped jaw rounded out by a dimpled chin. His button
nose gives an eternal boyish quality to his rugged good lucks. He swallows and
my gaze is drawn to his throat as my mind his worked over by years of memories.
We’re exchanging
information like two computers updating. He cups my face. “Louella.” I twitch
as I ride the wave of power being exchanged between us.

Interview with Shyla Colt
Where do you get inspiration for your stories? Wow, everywhere. It can be a song, a story on the television, a topic featured in a documentaries, or something that pops into my head by playing the “What If” game.  I’ll also admit to people watching.
How did you do research for your book? The library is my bestfriend. No, really, they know me and my family there. I’m constantly checking out books linked to my books, as well as reading pertinent articles, and if I can finding people who are more knowlegable in the subject. For example, one of my bestfriends works in a funeral home, so her tour of the building , and explanations of what she does, and why  are going to be invaluable for a book I’m developing.
Do you have another profession besides writing? I don’t. I’m lucky enough to write full time. I’ll count Mom too, it’s the full time gig, that never ends. *winks
If you could go back in time, where would you go? The eighties were pretty rad. It’d be neat to go back and experience that time period again.

What is your next project? I’m currently working on the second  book in the Witch for Hire series. I’m still debating I on the title. Titles and I are not good friends. *laughs.

cover reveal for Alien Minds by Christina Bauer

Alien Minds
Christina Bauer
(Dimension Drift, #1)
Published by: Monster House Books
Publication date: November 27th 2018
Genres: Science Fiction, Young Adult

Meimi Archer is living the perfect life. Too bad it isn’t hers.

On my seventeenth birthday, I wake up in the hospital to find I just survived a sketchy but terrible accident. My parents stand by my bedside—both are beautiful, wealthy, and super-nice. They tell me that once I leave the hospital, I’ll attend the prestigious ECHO Academy, where I’ll churn out equations for the government along with my mega-smart peers.

So, I’m living the perfect life.

Then why does everything feel all wrong?

My parents, my house and even ECHO Academy…none of it fits. Plus, what’s up with Thorne, my brooding yet yummy classmate who keeps telling me I need to remember my true past, which seems to have included a lot of us kissing? That’s one thing I’d really like to remember, except for the fact that I’m pretty sure Thorne is hiding a ton of nasty secrets of his own, including the fact that he may not be from this world. But considering how my own past seems alien to me, it’s not like I can judge. Plus, Thorne has dimples. That’s a problem.

And worst of all, why does it feel so yucky to work on these calculations for the government? It’s all supposed to be part of ECHO, but my heart tells me that I’m helping something truly terrible come to pass. Thorne seems to think that kissing him again will release my real memories.

Maybe it’s time to pucker up.

Praise for Stone Silence

Oh. My. Gosh! I absolutely LOVE Stone Silence! Talk about swoony! This book is AMAZING! I was sucked in from the very beginning and found myself lost in the journey of Spencer and Stony. I laughed out loud, got teary eyed, let out little dreamy sighs and refused to put this book down until I finished it! I devoured it!

From Jailbird

SHOWTIME, MIA. AND you know what they say about a show that’s about to start—it must go on.
Of course, they also tell the actors to break a leg and I’d much prefer that to what I’m about to do.
I turn down the paved road and see a large fenced-in property in the distance. My GPS tells me I’ve reached my destination.
It’s a beautiful and sunny September day with hardly a cloud in the sky. The weather certainly doesn’t match my emotions. If it did, it would be stormy. A raging storm, to include crazy lightning and booming thunder.
I don’t want to do this. I’d rather go to the dentist and have five teeth pulled. While I’m awake. Heck, I’d rather have my toenails removed. All of them. Without anesthesia.
But this is something I have to do, something I need to do. Not just for Stony. I need to do it for me.
Especially for me.
I can’t move forward with my life until I gain closure from the past. I’d like to place my past in a box, tie a pretty little bow on it, and place it on a shelf and forget about it.
Instead it sits on my kitchen counter begging to be put away every time I see it.
It’s time to put it away.
There’s only one way to do that.
Face Stony.
The last time I saw him was a little over a year ago, the moment I arrived home and stepped out of my brother’s car after being released from jail. He was there. Waiting for me.
Stony smiled at me. He smiled! Not just a little smile either. Stony never smiles and I mean never. Ever.
I thought it meant all was forgiven between us. I thought it meant we were starting over. I thought it meant so many things.
I was wrong. So very wrong.
I was told he’d had a girl with him that day, a pretty blond California girl. I didn’t notice her, but then, I was preoccupied. I was told they’d been seeing each other for a while.
I’d been kept in the dark about their relationship.
“Mia,” my mom had said, “You and Stony gave it your best shot. It didn’t work out. It’s for the best.”
Mom had her heart set on Stony and me getting married. If Stony had a fan club, she’d be president. Her change of tune threw me for a loop.

SNEAK PEEK:

“Well damn. I have a boyfriend, but you know…I’d totally be down to party one day.”

The words flew out of my mouth before I regretted them. I could hear Cece giggling on the other end on my phone.

“I’d totally take you up on that offer, Miss Sinclair. When I’m not working.” He gave me another seductive smile before his eyes returned to the road; the car moved forward as we made our way to the toll highway entrance.

I lifted my phone to my ear, realizing Cece was on the line, still.

“Cece, I’m going to call you back when I get to campus.”

“There’s condoms in the side pocket of your back–”

I hung up the phone, letting it drop on the leather seat as I relaxed.

Yup, my best friend is a bad influence.

Book Description:

The Montana Territory is one of the last outposts of the American West—where adventure as grand as the wide-open plains is around every corner, and passion as wild as the land itself beats in every heart . . .

Elizabeth Sanders isn’t afraid of anything, except what will happen to her beloved town if the Big Mountain Lumber Mill is destroyed. When she overhears a plot to do just that, she vows to put a stop to it, even if it means dressing as a young lumberjack to expose the saboteur. There’s only one problem with her plan—her brother’s handsome friend and fellow logger Garrett Jones, who arouses a desire within her soul as fierce as the river rapids.

When Garrett discovers that the odd new lad on the crew is in fact Beth, he’s shocked. A logging camp is no place for a young woman—especially the spirited beauty he’s admired for so long. Keeping her safe is easier said than done, however, as the attraction between them flares into true passion. As the danger mounts, Beth and Garrett must work together to survive the last log run down the wild rapids and claim any chance of saving the mill—and their chance at a future .

“Well written, well researched. Like the river, this plot runs faster and faster. Readers won’t be able to put it down.”
—New York Times bestselling author Jodi Thomas

Excerpt:

Missoula
Montana, 1888

Elizabeth
Sanders could vanish right now, and no one would notice. She blended in with
every other woman by wearing her matching pinstriped walking skirt and blouse.
Each store clerk and patron in Missoula, focused on their affairs without a
care to their neighbor, would fail to notice if she walked through Higgins
Street naked, let alone disappeared into thin air. They certainly wouldn’t look
twice when she came back this way a different person.
Hundreds of
people bustled in the heat of the Montana sun doing the same old things, the
same old ways, with nothing to show for their trouble but dirty shoes. If
Elizabeth was going to get her shoes dirty, she preferred to have fun doing
it…the Devil May Care way.
Navigating the
pedestrian-riddled streets was treacherous at best. Times like this made her
wish she’d taken her grandmother’s buggy. At least then she wouldn’t be jostled
around like a dirty shirt in a churning wash bin. A deep exhale boosted her
determination enough to risk a step to the side to duck around a particularly
slow matriarch. The small triumph lasted only a moment before she slammed into
a hard chest.
The soft fabric
of a well-tailored suit skimmed her cheek a split second before warm hands
reached out to steady her. The touch—firm, yet gentle—made her feel like she
now balanced on the back of a high-strung and wild mustang as it fled down a
hill with uncontrolled freedom. She hadn’t needed the extra hand. Wasn’t in
danger of falling over. What sort of dullard rescues a woman in no need of
liberation? She pulled away and adjusted her skirts as he let go. Her mind
focused once more.
“Pardon me.” She
glanced up to a familiar face. One she’d seen many times in her dreams. Her
breath failed as her brother’s friend, Garrett Jones, peered down at her with
silver-clouded eyes. Oh, how he made the world spin whenever he drew near. His
handsome, yet rugged, face made her fingers ache to touch the severe lines of
his jaw. The rich scent of tobacco infused with lavender and some sort of
citrus drifted on the breeze. Eau de Cologne. A fragrance only the wealthiest
of men in Montana could afford. A scent belying the canvas pants, spiked boots,
and sturdy cotton shirt he sported every time she’d seen him on the train
platform.
“Elizabeth.” Did
he say her name, or did she dream the word? Oh to be noticed by a man like
Garrett Jones. The only man who could make butterflies flit around in her
stomach and fear slide through her chest in the same confusing moment.

The hem of her
dress hovered mere inches from his feet. Her face heated and heart began to
pound. Try as she might, she couldn’t keep her eyes off the man who led the
Devil May Care boys. The man who held her future in his hands if she succeeded
in becoming part of his crew at the logging camp. If things went the way she
planned, she’d be staring into his amber and steel speckled eyes for the rest
of the season. Did he truly recognize her after all these years of no more than
a passing glance?

Interview with Dawn Luedecke
Where do you get inspiration for your stories?
My inspirations usually come when I am doing research. I will find a fact about something that happened in the past that is completely out of the ordinary and it will spark a whole new story. For instance, in WHITE WATER PASSION my inspiration came when I found a blurb and picture about a group of river loggers in Missoula. They were said to be wild and have a ‘devil may care attitude toward life.’ Another time I discovered the army had brought camels to Montana around 1850 as an experiment, which sparked the idea for “To Tame a Montana Heart.” I love to get inspiration from the smallest of historical facts.
How did you do research for your book?
I love to collect historical nonfiction books, but unfortunately those were my books that got destroyed when our house flooded during Hurricane Harvey. On a positive note, I get to start collecting all over again. In addition to non-fiction books, my family and I LOVE to go to museums and historical places (such as Tombstone, deserted Montana mines, etc). And for WHITE WATER PASSION, I did both.
Do you have another profession besides writing?
I am a mother, veteran, military spouse, and (on occasion) homeschool teacher.
If you could go back in time, where would you go?
If I was back in time with my husband I’m sure we would go to Tombstone. However, I would love to visit nineteenth century England, and the American west.
What is your next project?

I’m working on Montana Bound, book 3 in my Montana Girl series, which will be self published with books 1 and 2 late next year. I also have a Coast Guard boot-camp contemporary out on submission and hoping to hear from editors soon.
