Touching Humanity by Erin Hayes blitz

Touching Humanity
Erin Hayes
(The Rogue’s Galaxy, #2)
Publication date: December 2nd 2017
Genres: Adult, Cyberpunk, Science Fiction

Looking for the first book in The Rogue’s Galaxy? Check out Touching Infinity, part of the Dominion Rising Boxed set!

My name is Clementine Jones. I’m more machine than human, with a sketchy past and an even dimmer future.

I’m the new captain of the Pícara II. I brought down the spaceport of one of the largest companies in the galaxy. I’m secretly infected with a ticking time-bomb of a virus. I’m in love with an android who’d rather erase the memory of our kiss than deal with the aftermath.

I’m scared shitless of what to do next. And I’m definitely not hero material.

But the ruling corporations of the galaxy have just made their last markdown on the price of human life. That is, if I have anything to say about it. And I aim to bring them down.

Goodreads / Amazon

EXCERPT:

“Louis? Louis, I can’t see you.”

Suddenly, the lights on the space station go out, throwing me into complete darkness. The pitter patter of the leaking coolant stops as well, leaving me in sensory deprivation as I don’t feel the wall anymore.

“Clementine.” He sounds so close. Like he’s right in front of me.

“Louis!” I reach out.

Suddenly an overhead light pops on, like a beacon in the darkness. It blinds me at first and I stagger backwards, shielding my one eyes from the brightness.

And in front of me is a table. Not just any table, though.

The table.

The table where Louis had been sitting at while he tried removing my infected hand. Where he became infected himself, and…and…

And became a part of the table. He melted into it, becoming something that was no longer man and no longer table. Something that was no longer biological and no longer inanimate.

Something other.

It’s in front of me right now, illuminated in this space in front of me.

“Clementine,” Louis says, and I know that it’s indeed coming from the thing in front of me. I find that I’m shaking my head, feeling like the lost little girl from so long ago.

“No,” I whisper. “No.”

“Help me, Clementine. Help me.”

I don’t know how. I have the vaccines hidden away in my quarters back on the Picara II. But that’s in another plane of existence, thousands of light years away. There’s no way I can get to them in time. No way I can save the man who saved me from the horrors of Dark Horse-1.

“I can’t!” I cry out. “I don’t know how.”

“Please…” Louis says. From what mouth, I have no idea. It’s like he’s speaking directly into my mind. “Please help me, Clementine. Like I helped you.”

“I…I don’t know how…” I whisper brokenly. My fingers flutter above the table, and I’m not sure if I should touch it. If I do, I could get infected.

Yet, right now, that’s all I want to do.

“You did this.” I hiss a deep a breath as the harsh words cut through me. Louis’s tone has changed now, into something harsher, more sinister. “You did this to me.”

Goodreads / Amazon

EXCERPT:

“Cross my heart.” I close the distance between us and place my unused chips in his hand. “Now that we’re friends again,” he says softly, “I have wanted to tell you all night that I love this dress on you.”

It is a simple thing to say. It’s given a little more impact by the deep tenor of his voice and the fact that it is coming from a man who could read a menu and make it sound like the Magna Carta with the intensity of his presence. And it’s taken to a whole new level when two fingers gently lift my chin. His touch brief but steeped in meaning.

These are the moments when I think we could be more than friends, and I think he feels the same. This feels so real, it can’t be him being a playboy.

“I should go,” he says.

“Ok, goodnight,” I say, but neither of us moves to open the door. As soon as I close my bedroom door this moment will be gone, like all the other times it has disappeared. I can’t quite pull the door closed yet.

Tonight, in one final act of bravery before I put the delusion of Dan and I to rest, I put myself out there, one final time.

“Can you unzip me?” I ask, and I try to pack enough breathiness into the question to make my intentions known. I turn to reveal my bare back and where my zipper starts low on the small of my back.

I feel him hesitate. He doesn’t answer, he doesn’t make a sound, and maybe this was a huge mistake. And then I feel his rough hands on the small of my back as he tries to find the hidden zipper. And is it my imagination or are his hands shaking? The zipper catches a bit as it makes its slow torturous way down, past the freckle near my spine, lower toward where my hips begin to spread, where if he keeps going he will reveal the black lace thong I wore tonight. That is if he steps up to the challenge and keeps going.

I am painfully aware of every second, every pulse, before the moment of truth. The zipper catches again right at the base of my spine, as if fate is saying this is a mistake, we shouldn’t keep going. Maybe I should listen to fate, but my heart beating out a steady tattoo against my ribcage says otherwise. Dan doesn’t listen to fate either his fingers keep going, one hand tugging on the zipper the other tracing the line of my spine until there is no more spine, no more zipper and I can tell by the catch of his breath that my choice of undergarments has been revealed.

The air is so still that I’m not sure if either of us is breathing. He hasn’t made a sound this entire time and I can’t see his face to know what he is thinking. There is still time, I could still pull this back and pretend it was just a favor from a friend. His fingers move again, no longer on the zipper, his index finger slips underneath the edge of the lace and against my skin.

He tugs. The lace gives and snaps back into place. It gives me enough courage to look over my shoulder and meet his eyes.

About the Author

A native of California, Ana Brazil lived in the south for many years. She earned her MA in American history from Florida State University and traveled her way through Mississippi as an architectural historian. Ana loves fried mullet, Greek Revival colonnades, and Miss Welty’s garden. She has a weakness for almost all things New Orleans. (Although she’s not sure just how it happened…but she favors bluegrass over jazz.)

The Fanny Newcomb stories celebrate the tenacity, intelligence, and wisdom of the dozens of courageous and outrageous southern women that Ana is proud to call friends.

Although Ana, her husband, and their dog Traveller live in the beautiful Oakland foothills, she is forever drawn to the lush mystique of New Orleans, where Fanny Newcomb and her friends are ever prepared to seek a certain justice.

Interview with Ana Brazil
1. What is your favorite part of this book and why?

The whole “last act” is really my favorite because this is where everyone’s hard work and determination pays off. Fanny and her crew have risked their lives and livelihoods to hunt down the murderer. Finally, Fanny knows…well, you’ll just have to read the entire book to find out what she knows and how she knows it!

2. If you could spend time with a character from your book whom would it be? And what would you do during that day?

I really love Cousin Charlotte. I love her artistic pursuits, her calm mastery of every situation, her elegant Parisian sense of style, and her wide network of friends. To begin our day, Cousin Charlotte and I would have a leisurely petit déjeuner in her shabby French Quarter courtyard. We would talk about everything that’s happening in the city…which new books have arrived, who’s left town for the season, and when the rain will finally stop (the answer is never). Later we’d go into her studio and I’d read the newspapers or the latest Peterson’s Magazine to her while she worked on her pottery wheel. After a long day of laughter and confidences, we’d meet friends for dinner at Antoine’s on St. Louis Street.

3. If you could have been the author of any book ever written, which book would you choose?

The most stunning book I’ve ever read is The Beauty and the Sorrow: An Intimate History of the First World War by Peter Englund. It’s an incredibly moving compilation of the stories of twenty eyewitnesses to WWI.

4. Are your characters based off real people or did they all come entirely from your imagination?

Fanny, Sylvia, and Olive are definitely inspired by many of the strong, persistent southern women that I know. Many of the other characters are composites of people I’ve known or read about. Since I’ve studied the Gilded Age for years, I know who lived there: teachers and doctors; newspaper editors and journalists; policemen and attorneys; millionaires and maids. Very happily, some of these people have entered Fanny Newcomb’s New Orleans.

5. What made you want to become a writer?
I loved studying American history—and especially women’s history—in college. But I always wondered What’s the rest of the story? What else might women have accomplished in America? And eventually—because of my love for mysteries—I wondered What would happen if an ambitious woman in 1889 New Orleans thought that she was clever enough to solve a Jack the Ripper copycat murder?
The only way for me to find out was to write Fanny Newcomb’s story. So writing gives me a way to explore all of the “whats” and “what ifs” in my mind.

Invisible
The
Curse of Avalon Book 1
by
Sariah Skye
Genre:
Paranormal RH Romance

My
name is Ava Dawson. Ever since I was young, I have had this strange
“gift” of invisibility. I can’t explain it, nor can I always
control it. It affects my work, my personal life, dating—all but my
mother and best friend seem to be affected. No matter what I do, I
seem to always be forgotten.

Until
I meet these gorgeous guys during a girls’ night out, and there’s
something strangely alluring about them. An ancient curse brings us
together, while a group of supernatural “Collectors” is
threatening to tear us apart. They’re targeting people with special
abilities like mine, and all four men have taken it upon themselves
to protect me. But with their complicated pasts, I can’t help but
feel protective of them, too. I’m trying not to get in over my
head, with these men, and the magic.

But
I have to admit, It’s nice to be seen after years of being
invisible.

*Author's
Note: this book is 'reverse harem;' meaning, one woman, multiple love
interests. This series is meant for readers 18+ only

Sariah
Skye physically resides in southern Minnesota with her husband, two
kids and a dog (so really...3 children) but mentally her head is in
the clouds dreaming of anything that doesn't require adulting.

When
not writing she's probably geeking out watching Star Trek, playing
World of Warcraft, reading yet another fantasy book or staying up way
too late. She'd love it if you dropped her a line at Facebook or
Twitter but be prepared...she's a nictofiliac so be patient for a
response while her eyes adjust to the light of day and beware of
sarcasm. It helps to throw her chocolate or glitter first before
engaging. Wine is also acceptable...but not to throw. Hand it over
gently.

Simone Pond’s captivating new fantasy series, a peasant girl
embraces her dragon slayer destiny, calling on the legendary power of
her family’s bloodline to conquer an evil kingdom and kill every
last dragon in Galicia.

Unknowing
descendant of a legendary dragon slayer, Evelyn is convinced that
getting out of her quaint yhamlet is the answer to finding true love
and happiness. But she seems destined to work on her mother’s farm,
while the other girls present themselves before the gallant Prince
Kieran in his quest to find a lady-in-waiting.

When
the prince finally takes notice of Evelyn, he’s smitten and chooses
her above all the others. Evelyn is elated about living in Verubri
Castle and the possibility of marriage. But her happiness is quickly
squelched when the prince invites Evelyn’s arch rival, Ciara, to
join them.

Before
traveling north, Evelyn discovers her dragon slayer ancestry,
something she knows must be concealed from Prince Kieran who
would consider it treason against his kingdom. But the only way to
survive the treacherous journey is to expose herself and possibly
ruin her future and even end her life.

The
Dragons of Galicia series is set in a world inspired by Celtic
legends. Fire and Fate leads directly into the next book in the
series, Fire and Chains.

Fire and Chains

of Galicia Series Book 2

In the second book of the
vibrantly depicted Dragons of Galicia Series, Evelyn of Gorias rises

deceit, betrayal, and powerful dragons.

Though Evelyn survived the journey
across the mountain ranges, the challenges
are just beginning. Verubri Castle holds dark secrets, Prince Kieran
is a tyrant, and Ciara is resolute on destroying Evelyn and seducing
the prince.

When a
dragon nearly burns down an entire village, Evelyn must go after the
beast. But this won’t be easy, not when the prince has her heavily
guarded. Evelyn’s hope wains, until she encounters a stranger who
changes the course of everything.

With the looming threat of the
entire clan of Galician Dragons being reawakened, Evelyn must hurry
to save the kingdom, while Ciara aims to rule it. To accomplish their
goals, they must defeat Prince Kieran. In their individual struggles
to conquer and prevail, Evelyn and Ciara face external and internal
demons they never imagined possible.

Fire
and Blood
Dragons
of Galicia Series Book 3

In
the final book of the Dragons of Galicia Series, every turn is
fraught with dangerous threats in the quest to save the kingdom.

escaping the castle to be captured by a dragon is only the beginning
of Evelyn’s problems. The list of opponents grows as she battles
Ciara, Prince Kieran’s army, and
more dragons.

With
the neighboring villages being burned and pillaged, Evelyn must pull
together her own army of dragon warriors to fight the prince and his
knights. As her love for Doran
deepens, she’ll do anything to ensure he stays alive, even at the
cost of going to battle without him.

As
the war reaches an explosive peak, both Evelyn and Ciara face deadly
consequences. And the only way to save the north from total
destruction is for Evelyn to trust her most deceitful adversary,
Ciara. If the two don’t join forces, all will be lost.

Christmas with a Prince by Noelle Adams blitz

Christmas with a Prince
Noelle Adams
(Rothman Royals, #4)
Publication date: November 29th 2017
Genres: Adult, Romance

I might be a former party girl and the over-indulged daughter of a multi-millionaire, but for the last few years I’ve been trying to be work hard and be good. I have enough right now to deal with–graduate school, my community literacy program, preparations for Christmas, and my dad’s constant attempts to find me a husband. I definitely don’t want to put up with Henry always hanging around, acting obnoxious and looking far too sexy.

My boss forced me to take on Henry as a literacy volunteer for the month of December. I don’t know anything about him except he’s from somewhere in Europe, and he’s spoiled, entitled, arrogant, stubborn… and incredibly hot. He’s the kind of guy I’ve been trying to stay away from. Plus he’s got a secret–something he’s hiding from me.

Now I can’t think of anything but him, and I’m stuck with him until Christmas is over.

Goodreads / Amazon / Barnes & Noble / iBooks / Kobo

EXCERPT:

I tried—very hard—not to feel an amused satisfaction at the look on Henry’s face as he saw the task in front of him.

“You think I have time to do it all?”

“Why wouldn’t you? Unless you’re planning to waste time while you’re here.” I remembered I was supposed to be nice to him now and tempered my tone with a smile. “I’m sure you’re not. You’ll get through them in no time.”

His eyes narrowed again in that suspicious way, as if he thought I might have questionable motives. “Why are you being nice to me today?”

I stiffened my shoulders. “Why wouldn’t I be nice?”

“You weren’t nice yesterday.”

This was unfortunately true, and I felt guilty about it. “I’m sorry about yesterday. I was… I didn’t know who you were, and I overreacted.”

If anything, his expression looked even more suspicious than it had before. “And you know who I am now?”

I frowned in confusion. “Of course I know who you are. Marcus told me you were authorized. You’re not some creep who came in off the street to get close to the kids.”

His face relaxed slightly but not all the way. “I see.”

I felt even more confused, rattled in a way that wasn’t normal for me. I didn’t like it. I gave him a little scowl. “Why are you being weird?”

“I’m not being weird.” He spoke the last word with care, as if he weren’t used to saying it.

“Yes, you are being weird. You seemed to like it yesterday when I was rude to you, and now you’re all stiff and off-putting because I’m trying to be nice.”

“I’m not off-putting.” He was relaxing even more now, that little smile on the corner of his mouth making those adorable creases.

I scowled even more. “Yes, you are. Do you have a problem with people being nice to you?”

“Only if they have ulterior motives.”

I gasped. “What possible motive could I have to be nice to you, other than being a decent person? Maybe you’re not used to being around decent people, but there are a few of us out there. If I want to be nice, I’ll be nice. I don’t have to have a motive for it.”

He was back to yesterday’s mood now. His eyes were laughing and appreciative both. As if I amused him and he also liked what he saw. “You’re not being very nice now,” he drawled.

“Well, I would if you’d let me. I find it very hard to be nice to obnoxious people.”

“And you think I’m obnoxious?”

He was teasing me. I knew it, and I also knew I shouldn’t play along. But I couldn’t seem to help it. “Of course you’re being obnoxious. I can’t be the only person who’s ever told you that.”

“You actually are. Almost everyone likes me.”

“That can’t possibly be true.”

Author Bio:

Noelle handwrote her first romance novel in a spiral-bound notebook when she was twelve, and she hasn’t stopped writing since. She has lived in eight different states and currently resides in Virginia, where she reads any book she can get her hands on and offers tribute to a very spoiled cocker spaniel.

She loves travel, art, history, and ice cream. After spending far too many years of her life in graduate school, she has decided to reorient her priorities and focus on writing contemporary romances.
