Goddess of the Wild Thing by Paul DeBlassie III

Goddess of the Wild Thing
Paul DeBlassie III

Genre: Horror , Sci Fi and Fantasy

Book Description:

Goddess of the Wild Thing is a dramatic tale of one woman’s spiritual journey where magical happenings, unexpected turns of fate, and unseen forces influence her ability to love and be loved.

Eve Sanchez, a middle-aged woman and scholar of esoteric studies, encounters a seductive but frightening man who introduces her to a supernatural world in which the wicked powers of a surrogate mother’s twisted affection threaten love and life.

In the mystic realms of Aztlan del Sur, Eve and three friends struggle with whether bad love is better than no love and discover that love is a wild thing.

Excerpt I

Eve sharpened her focus. She saw
the sharp nail of a witch’s right finger tracing Graciéla’s image on a foggy
mirror in a grungy bathroom, touching the center of the mirror with a hatred so
intense, the glass burned red hot. The mirror in Graciéla’s kitchen cracked.
Shards jettisoned at the old healer then were magically warded off and drifted
in place about her head and neck.
Graciéla’s energy, tired as she
was, had fended off the pointed shards. She hadn’t been impaled. But the strain
had ushered her from one world to the next. Death came not by the hand of
another but by a weakened mind and body defending itself.
Eve, shaken, allowed her soft
touch to stay on Graciéla’s forehead, confirming the horror of what she’d seen.
Shamanic wisdom, often discussed between the two kindred souls, spoke to Eve as
she stroked her friend’s head, remembering that death provided passage for one
whose life had been well spent and whose time had come.
Eve
wept.

After a few moments, she closed
her friend’s green eyes and whispered tenderly, “Always my friend, always love,
always together in life and in death.” She stood and wiped the tears from her
eyes. A gray-brown, green-eyed, great horned owl hooted from the largest
cottonwood branch outside the back window.
Eve heard Shirley finishing her
call to the EMTs and police, and then walking to the front of the store to
await their arrival.
One large shard lay at the
end of the table, sharp tip pointed outward. It reflected Eve’s image, a
glowing red ember menacingly centered at the brow point

Interview with Paul DeBlassie III
Where do you get inspiration for your stories? Inspiration for Goddess of the Wild Thing and all my visionary thrillers leap out of the creative unconscious, a realm of reverie and surprise.
How did you do research for your book? My research starts with my dreams. Characters come to me, haunt my sleep, then I set to page what I have felt and seen during my nightly sojourns into the unconscious mind.
Do you have another profession besides writing? I have been a psychotherapist treating the unconscious mind for the past 40 years.
If you could go back in time, where would you go? Going back isn’t for me. Going down, into the timeless realm of the collective unconscious, the birthplace of healing stories is my passion and creative gig.

What is your next project? Bubbling out from the creative realm and being set to page (especially now that The Unholy and Goddess of the Wild Thing are written and flying through virtual realms) is The Goddess of Everything, a supernatural thriller of mother love gone bad and a son’s struggle to break free — a story of hope, potential, and the wonders of the unconscious mind.

Playground In My Mind is the story of Taylor Bouchand, a woman who enjoys success through creativity.  Each day she wakes with a sense of accomplishment in her artistic ability that has earn her not only an impressive income, but respect for her work as a sculptress and painter.  Taylor controls her own destiny

That is until she meets a little boy in a gazebo on a cold wintry night.  He is just a little boy, with an odd way of saying things when they first meet, but all of that changes as Taylor sees him again and again. He tells her is name is Michael and she learns that the more she sees him the closer she is drawn to him.

Taylor realizes that there is something different about Michael, but not even her creative mind would have guessed what was happening.  Michael, is aging faster than humanly possible.  At first she tries to convince herself there is a logical explanation and what she thinks is happening is not possible.  Only there is no logical explanation.

Taylor decides she needs professional help and sets up an appointment with a psychiatrist.  This is not easy for her as she is aware that in order to create her life is about mystery and adventure.  This could all be her imagination.  Yet, she can’t believe that to be true.

Being a psychiatrist Dr. Paulson has treated a great variety of mental disorders ranging from mild and temporary to severe and chronic.  Over the years he has helped cure fear, panic or phobias manifested in certain situations that can greatly affecting a patient's career, social life and mood.  It helps that he knows a little about this new patient Taylor. He knows her work and her reputation.  But it takes several sessions with Taylor, before Dr. Paulson finally hears her story.

His immediate opinion is that she is suffering from a mild depression as the result of emotional trauma and tragic events in her life.  As she shares more, it still doesn’t surprise him, but he decides that Taylor may suffer from hallucinations and delusion.  He has dealt with many patients who envision something that cannot be.  It is a matter of determining the cause which he is sure will lead to a logical explanation.

Only Dr. Paulson has a change of heart when he has a dinner party with his friends Peter Newman, the husband of Christine who passed away in a fire many years ago, and the Mastersons who are clients of Taylor.  Neither one knows of a connection between them and the famous Taylor Bouchand.   There are many surprises unveiled that evening that would uncover secrets and open their eyes to strange possibilities.  They would all soon realize that life isn't quite how we perceive it, but holds secrets from all of us.

This story is set in the suburbs of Rochester in Upstate New York, runs about 119,000 words and is somewhat similar in tone to Octavia E. Butler’s Wild Seed

Excerpt:
Section 3   Food
Chapter 7  Dairy
Dousing the flame of inflammation:
THE BIG TAKEAWAYS ON DAIRY
  1. Only use full fat dairy
  2. Only buy organic dairy products from grass-fed cows to avoid synthetic growth hormones, antibiotics and the stress hormones from factory farmed meat
  3. Raw milk is a good choice for additional nutrients and better taste
  4. Yogurt is good for you, but only buy full fat with no added sugar
  5. If you eat cheese, if it is cow cheese, make sure it is organic, or eat sheep or goat cheese.  Watch the salt content on the label.
Dairy was the first category that I discovered I was highly sensitive to when I started my journey five years ago.  Probably my most favorite thing in the world is cheese, and I don't get to eat it anymore.  When I fall off the wagon and eat cheese, hoping that the cheese won’t cause inflammation, bingo, I get a flare, so it’s just not worth trying anymore.  It doesn’t matter if it is a cow, sheep or goat, I can’t eat dairy.
It is a common thing for people to be sensitive to, so I am not alone.
The good news is that I can eat ghee, which is clarified butter.  Clarified means the milk proteins have been removed, and these proteins are what my body can no longer tolerate; I am sensitive to the whey and casein protein in the milk.  Ghee is just as tasty as butter to me, so it solves a multitude of sins in eliminating dairy.
But the bigger question is, is dairy good for anyone?  This is what I found:
75% of the world is lactose intolerant.  The primary carbohydrate in dairy is lactose, a "milk sugar" that is made of the two simple sugars glucose and galactose.  North America, Europe, and Australia, don't have this intolerance as much as the rest of the world.
Whole milk from grass fed cows is quite nutritious.  If it is organic grass fed cow milk, it also has avoided most of the hormones, antibiotics and pesticides/herbicides that are in factory cow milk.  Grass fed cow dairy has omega three fatty acids which we need, and it has fat soluble vitamins like K2 that are essential to human bones.  I am talking about milk only in this regard, not cheese, which we will get to in a second.
The most nutritious milk is whole raw milk from grass fed cows.  It is not as risky as once thought and has many benefits over conventional pasteurized milk.
Low-fat or nonfat dairy, however, is not healthy and has had the fat replaced with dry milk (which has its own health hazards).
Full-fat grass-fed dairy can reduce the risks of diabetes II.  This is not true of low-fat or nonfat dairy.  Full-fat grass-fed dairy is also linked to reduced obesity.
If the milk is from grass-fed cows, it is also linked to reduced heart disease and reduced strokes.  A study in Australia showed a 69% drop in heart disease if grass-fed organic milk was regularly drunk.
Fermented dairy products like yogurt and kefir may be even better if they are made from grass-fed milk.  They contain probiotic bacteria that can have numerous health benefits

C:\Users\Majanka\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\INetCache\Content.Word\Cheryl Meyer.jpgAbout Cheryl Meyer aka Cheryl M Health Muse and her book, “It Feels Good to Feel Good, learn about toxins, reducing inflammation and feel great again.”

Five years ago, Cheryl got sick, really sick.  It was a perfect storm: she was working 24/7; her long-term relationship imploded; economic changes slowed her business; she got Type II diabetes; she was taking care of everyone else; her stress was out of control.

Then one morning … viola, Cheryl woke up in incredible pain that didn’t go away. Her doctor didn’t recognize what it was and thought it was in her head.

Cheryl didn’t want more pills, so she embarked on her own journey to find wellness.  When she started, she didn’t even know what she was looking for.  She was stunned to find toxins in every aspect of her life that were poisoning her.  She discovered the Functional Medicine community.  She was tested for food sensitivities.

This book shares everything that Cheryl learned to reverse her inflammation and put her autoimmune diseases at bay.  This is the get well manual that she wishes had been available when she got sick. The book is about first identifying  that toxins that were a significant cause of her leaky gut, then she identified  what  the toxins were  and finally she shares what she replaced them with. She addresses the toxins in our food, in our cosmetics, our cleaning supplies, our kitchen utensils, our water, our over the counter drugs, and even in our heads, stress, anxiety, lack of sleep, lack of movement and finally toxic relationships.  She wants to help others find a path to wellness.
Cheryl is now relatively pain-free, but still considers herself a work in progress.  She avoids the foods and spices on her specific, long list of problem foods.  She has purged toxins.  She has released stress and nagging worry.  She has learned to find joy in movement.  She has found love.  She is grateful.

Cheryl believes that following her journey will help you live a long, happy and pain-free life.
In order to help others, Cheryl has become a Holistic Health Coach, certified from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition©.
My book has won the following awards to date:
  • 3rd place CIPA EVVY Health/Wellness,
  • 2nd Place CIPA EVVY Illustrator in a non-children's book
  • New Apple Summer Digital sole winner in Health/medical
  • The Living Evergreen Award Gold winner for books that exemplify better living.
  • It is in the top 10 from Write your Own Dream Book, November 17, Institute for Integrative Nutrition.

“You have taken putting soap in the mouth for naughty words …” to a New Level!  LOL Who knew we were surrounded by so many toxins.
I’ve pretty much finished your book now working on giving sections to my family and friend that I think will especially appreciate certain chapters!  YOU, my Dear, have found your calling, YOU make this rather “dull” subject a Very Good, interesting read, with fun personal touches along the way.
I LOVE your book; I hope people will embrace it.  Why worry so much about health care if we keep killing ourselves with poison.  We can all start with eliminating the toxins out of our lives.              Val Peterson

“My friend, Cheryl Meyer has written a book that I recently finished called “It feels good to feel good”. It has a lot of common sense solutions (many that you would never think of) to healthy, toxin free living designed around the reduction of inflammation through what you put in and on your body. Most of this is from her personal experience. I know Cheryl to be one of the finest people you’ll ever know. Cheryl’s also a big proponent of “functional medicine”. If you are unfamiliar with this form of medical practice, you need to read her book. It will change the way you think”.  Frank Jones
Cheryl’s book is as timely as it is informative. This is an excellent read for those seasoned in the holistic lifestyle as well as those just beginning. There is something for everyone. Her material covers everything from probiotics, house cleaning materials, and abdominal massages, to which teas to drink for better sleep. She has the latest information on metal detoxing and extensive research on the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the food we eat.
Cheryl provides real solutions that can be implemented far beyond the basics with a bend toward functional medicine. I personally ordered three products within hours of reading her book. I’m especially thrilled with the depth of her research around relationships and those that can be toxic. Make sure to read this book and hold onto the “not to miss points” at the beginning of each section.

My Blog
https://cherylmhealthmuse.com/blog/

Interview with Cheryl Meyer
Why write a self-help book?
I wrote the book about something that I was very intimate with and that I felt the world needed to know.  From total frustration and pain, It Feels Good to Feel Good was born.  I am hoping that by writing it I can help others navigate what is ahead of them and that they don’t have to be resolved to a life of pills and pain.

Did you personally experience the things covered in this book?
Yes, everything in my book is from my personal experience and my personal research to save myself.

How did you research for this book?
In the beginning I wasn’t researching for a book, I was trying to find out what was wrong with me, and make it better.  I didn’t even know what I was looking for.  For 3 years I filed articles away into folders on my computer by category and a pattern started to emerge and a road to wellness started to become clear.  When I started to write the book most of my research was already done.  I just researched new thoughts and approaches that had come out since I did all of my original research.

Have you written other books?  If yes what are they?
No, this was my first book, but there will be more.  My next book is a companion book for how I live around my 18 sensitivities and how I live my life as toxin free as possible.  But I also want to do children’s books about being sensitive to many foods and feeling different, and then I have a thought about how to do things that will inspire the children to eat clean and live without toxins and to become a leader in good food with their friends.

What do I think is the biggest reason someone should read this book?
The biggest reason is if you hurt and are looking for answers.  But I have come to realize that this information is critically important to everyone.  My hope is that people don’t wait to become “sick and tired of being sick and tired” before they change.  I want to inspire people to change now BEFORE they get sick.  It’s important for their health and for the health of their families.  We get asked a lot about aren’t we feeling deprived because we choose to not eat processed foods and junk, and because we are trying to live around all of the toxins.  People often ask us don’t we know we are going to die.  My husband’s response is of course we are, but he wants to be healthy to the end and die with a smile on his face.  How wonderful it would be if everyone felt that way, and we changed the system to stop poisoning us.
