Dirty Morals by Lexi Adams blitz

Dirty Morals
Lexi Adams
Publication date: November 12th 2017
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

Good girls work hard. Good girls keep their noses clean and don’t do anything that would be considered morally questionable. I’m a good girl… Or at least that’s what I used to think.

With my mom sick and health care bills mounting, who has time to do things right anymore? I have to take care of things, and fast. So what if being paid for sex is a bad idea? It’s only once or twice—until Caleb Robertson, with his bright blue eyes and propensity for saying and doing everything right, books me for the night. Suddenly there’s no longer a right or wrong. There’s just my heart, and it’s about to be broken.

EXCERPT:

The next day finds me feeling a bit more cheerful… hell, who am I kidding? As soon as I left my Mom alone in her room for the day, I was miserable again. At the very least, it’s my day off and I can take some small comfort in that. I make the short trek to the coffee shop down the street from my apartment to meet with my friend, Kara Rogers. As usual, she’s sitting in a booth waiting with my coffee already ordered. I slip into the booth, taking the paper cup in my hands. It is steaming hot but it keeps me grounded as I try to focus on what my best friend is going off on a tangent about. Kara is one of the few people who knows about my rather grim living situation and she’s always looking for some weird new ways for me to make some extra cash.

“– and you don’t even have to have sex with them, at least, not always! Girls are making thousands,” she rambles and I blink my eyes in confusion as I try to make some sense of what she’s talking about.

“Wait. Kara, what the hell? Are you talking about prostitution? Seriously?” I hiss, able to piece the story together somewhat judging from what I’d heard. Kara rolls her eyes, sipping from her iced coffee.

“It’s an escort website. Really high profile. If you were listening, you’d realize that it’s not prostitution. Well… not really,” she says defensively. I roll my eyes, feeling my phone suddenly vibrate in my pocket. I grab it, swiping it unlocked only to see a message from Kara. It’s the URL of the website she’s telling me about. My thumb immediately moves to the delete button but something gives me pause. I stare at the message for a long moment before closing out of it, notably not deleting the stupid thing. Kara seems to notice, lips curled into a sly smile.

“I’ll look at it later, just for laughs,” I say defensively. She submissively throws her hands up and goes off on some other tangent that I scarcely pay any mind to,. In spite of my scorn for her suggestion, I can’t deny that there’s something interesting about the concept.

“Shit,” Kara blurts suddenly and I focus in just in time to see her packing up to leave.

“You’re gone, then?” I sigh, standing from the booth and tossing my empty cup into the garbage bin.

“The boss just texted, apparently someone called in today and I need to cover for them. Rain check, alright? It’s not like you were paying me any attention, anyway,” she teases, though there’s no malice in her words. I smile, feeling somewhat abashed at how obvious I’d been.

“Sorry, Kara. You know how it is,” I explain weakly. She smiles, leaning in to kiss me on the cheek before quickly shuffling out of the coffee shop.

“See you next time, Maggie. Think about what I told you,” she calls back as she steps through the door. I’m sure there’s no way in hell I’d consider selling my body for pay, though I suppose she did say it was for companionship as well. Maybe it wouldn’t be so bad… No! I’m not even going to think about it. I’m going to go home, look for a new job and forget this entire conversation.

That idea works until much later that evening, after I’ve had about two glasses of wine. I’m a lightweight, what can I say? The way I saw it, there was little harm in checking out this little escort website. Like I’d told Kara, I’ll just look at it for a few good laughs. I clumsily type in the link, propping my chin up in my hand as I scroll through the page. The profiles of the female members look relatively innocuous and some have their earnings listed on their profile sidebars. My eyes widen at some of the large numbers I see and for a moment I’m tempted.

Much longer than a moment, truthfully. I’m tempted long enough to go through the process of making a profile, taking a few drunk selfies before deciding to use a photo from my cousin’s wedding. I keep telling myself it’s just so I can see some of the private features; just for fun, no harm can come of it. In spite of myself, with the booze fogging my mind a bit, I kind of hope to get a message. It’d be flattering, at the very least.

With a single click, I save my profile and push away from the computer. I stumble a bit as I head to my bedroom, my mother having gone to bed hours previously. Hitting the mattress, I’m as good as dead to the world. For once, I get some decent rest, but I know it’s likely just a fluke.

The sound of my phone vibrating the next morning jolts me awake and I glance around blearily before managing to snag it off of the nightstand. I swipe it unlocked, blinking as I try to make out the words on the screen. It’s a notification from some website that I’d drunkenly signed up for. Nothing new, I tend to get download crazy when I’m drunk. Much to my surprise, however, it’s a notification from that escort site I’d joined.

“Hello, I’d like to meet up with you for a night,” I read aloud, snorting in disbelief. It’s not as flattering as I’d have thought, especially considering that the male profiles have more features for anonymity. I type back two letters, a simple ‘NO’. Hitting send, I expect the conversation to be over and done with. Moments later, as if this guy had been anticipating my response, my phone lights up again. “There’s five grand with your name on it, if you agree to meet me,” the message reads. My eyes widen in disbelief as I read over it again, unable to believe that some crazy guy would offer five grand just to spend the night with me.

There’s no way I’m willing to sacrifice my dignity for this… even if five grand is incredibly tempting. Swallowing a lump that I’m surprised has formed in my throat, I shakingly type out another rejection. There’s no telling what this guy looks like, or what on Earth he plans to do to me. It’s a matter of safety at this point; admittedly I’ve already given up on the idea of keeping my dignity intact.

“If you’re worried about my intentions, I assure you that you will be well taken care of. I wouldn’t dare see harm befall such a beautiful young woman, especially if you were under my… care,” the next message reads and I’m startled by how relentless this guy is. Before I can formulate a response, he sends me a winking emoticon. Suddenly wondering what he means by ‘care’, I can’t deny that my interest is piqued.

In all likelihood, this guy probably looks like he got hit in the face with a shovel as a kid. No good looking or actually self-respecting guy would join one of these sleazy websites. Then again, I never would have expected that I’d join either.

“Fuck it,” I mumble, fingers darting across the on screen keyboard. I agree to meet him, under the condition that there be no expectations on this first meeting. I’ll check him out, but nothing more than that. He sends a smiling emoticon and then one with a kissing face. Inexplicably tickled by how goofily charming this man seems to be, I hesitate before tossing my phone aside.

Ugh. I can’t believe I’m doing this. What happened to the Maggie Stroud who carried herself with pride? I suppose she died long ago. The new Maggie would do almost anything if presented with the opportunity to earn five grand.

Almost anything…

S.K. Derban’s CIRCUMVENT Cover Reveal

Title:
CIRCUMVENT

Author: S.K. Derban

Publisher: Touchpoint Press

Genre: Mystery

Imagine living in a quaint, beach front cottage on the
Hawaiian island of Maui.
You have an amazing job, combined with the pleasure of working from home. Lunch
breaks become a daily picnic on the sand. Dessert is always included because of
your marriage to a famous pastry chef. Life could not be any better. Or so it
seems... When French born, Nikki Sabine Moueix travels to Hawaii for a special
work assignment, her job of writing an article about a famous Swiss pastry chef
generates more than a magazine piece. They fall in love, get married, and Nikki
becomes Mrs. Ruggiero Delémont.

When another assignment calls for Nikki to spend three weeks
in France,
Ruggiero’s schedule prevents him from joining her. She travels alone, advancing
straight into danger. After a threatening confrontation, Nikki wakes up in a
French hospital with no knowledge of her past. When she fails to check in,
Ruggiero panics and pushes for an immediate investigation. But as he closes in,
Nikki’s new found friend moves her to another city. It becomes a game of hide
and seek with Nikki as the prize.

CIRCUMVENT allows readers to form a bond with Nikki as they
yearn for her to remember. They will cheer for Ruggiero and his relentless
determination to locate his beloved wife. This is a story about two people who
never lose their faith in God, and find amazing friends to help them along the
way.

When the plane leveled at a cruising altitude, Nikki
reclined her seat back and reopened her novel. Her seat mate appeared to be
napping, and Peter Safin was busy preparing his work area. Nikki’s curiosity
flourished when she realized her reclining position provided a clear view of
his laptop screen. But, as his fingers danced along the keyboard nothing on the
illuminated display made sense. She was reading a combination of letters and
numbers that appeared to be some sort of code. Maybe he’s a spy, Nikki amused
herself in thought. A Russian spy. No, wait! Her mind raced. Maybe he’s a mole,
or even a double agent.

Nikki almost laughed aloud as she refocused on the book
within her hands. It was the latest spy novel, written by one of her favorite
authors. Maybe I should switch to romance.

Forgotten Warriors by D. Ralph Young

History
Date Published: May 2016
Publisher: Dog Ear Publishing

 photo add-to-goodreads-button_zpsc7b3c634.png

Forgotten Warrios is the story of the aphibious march across the Pacific from the Aleutians to Okinawa from the experiences of shipmates aboard the USS J. Franklin Bell which includes the surprise attack on Pearl Harbor and the following battles: The Aleutian Campaign (Adak, Attu and Kiska); The Solomon Islands Campaign (Guadalcanal, Bougainville); The Coral Sea Battle (Naval Battle); The Battle of Midway (Naval Battle); The Battle for Tarawa; The Battle for Kwajalein; The Battle for Eniwetok; The Marianas Champaign (Saipan, Tinian, and Guam); The Battle for Leyte; The Battle for Iwo Jima; The Battle for Peleliu; The Battle for Okinawa. Refresh your memory with the what, where, when and why for each of these battles, the listing of the Medal of Honor Awardees for each battle, as well as a listing of casualties. Also included are the contributions made by Coast Guard, Submarine Service, and Seabees as well as the women of the USA toward victory over the Japanese in World War II.

It seem like we celebrate Normandy every year, which we should, but when have you heard about Peleliu, Tarawa, Tinian etc.During the invasion of Peleliu we had 3201 more casualties than D-Day at Normandy. At Tarawa 2 out of 3 marines never made it to the beach. Admiral Spruance called the invasion of Tinian the most brilliant amphibious operation of WWII. The two fake landings on the most suitable beach on the South caused the Japanese to move their troops in that direction, which allowed us to land on the North less desirable beach, with minimum resistance. I know this for a fact because I was there.

The book covers all major battles in the Pacific where statistic shows that when we are compared to our counterparts that fought in the European Theater we were 5 times more likely to be killed; 3 times more likely to be wounded and twice as likely to end up being a POW.

We fought a different kind of enemy in the Pacific. If the Germans or Italians were surrounded they surrendered. But, the Japanese would charge with or without a weapon. That explains why our wounded to death rate was 3 to 1. For the Japanese it was the reverse of 18 killed to each one wounded.

The book recognized all the Medal of Honor that were awarded in the Pacific with a brief description of why each was awarded.

Saved by H.L. Anderson

About The Book
Title: Saved
Author: H.L. Anderson
Genre: Romantic Thriller
Theresa Kent is a wife, mom, and hardworking nurse living in rural Colorado. Life is good until her increasingly despondent, unemployed husband suddenly snaps—his vicious attack leaves Theresa fighting for her life as she tries to escape the insane version of the man she loves.
Ryan Tucker appears to have it all, except he’s been merely existing, not living, for the the last three years. His emotions get a much needed jump start when he rescues Theresa from the torment her life has become in just a matter of days. Ryan feels an instant and fierce desire to protect this stranger that fell into his life.
Hanging over their heads is the knowledge that Theresa’s husband is still out there, hunting for her.
Can two broken souls be repaired, or will the demons of the past and present come between the repressed love that grows between them?

Excerpt 1:
Theresa sat forward, the seatbelt tugging at her collarbone. She smiled as she stared at the crooked, brown, furry trunks that split into thick branches—a melon-sized clump of green reaching for the sky atop each branch. “I’ve killed a cactus before. More than one, actually.”
“Ah. Did the cactus do something to deserve an early demise? Or, are you just a silent psychopathic killer of cacti?”
She cringed a little at his choice of words, but hid it with a small chuckle. “Neither. I’m just really bad at keeping plants alive. My thumb is not only decisively not green—it’s necrotic. I have necrotic thumb syndrome when it comes to plants.”
“Hmm. I see. So, how, exactly, do you go about killing a cactus?”
“Well, there are several ways actually. Too much water. Not enough sunlight. And, surprisingly, not enough water. Apparently, you can’t just ignore one and hope it sucks up enough moisture from the air to survive.”
“Okay. Necrotic thumb noted. There will be no gifts of living plants from me in your future. How do you fare with the plastic versions?”
She snorted at the fake seriousness in his voice. Turning to him, she wrinkled her brow to match his tone. “I can’t guarantee the safety of even synthetic greenery in the care of my black and decaying thumb.”
Mouth twitching, he narrowed his eyes and placed a finger alongside his jaw, nodding. “I see. This is more serious than I thought. Dead flowers and chocolate will have to suffice, I suppose.”

She laughed, then turned serious, laying her hand on his arm where it rested between them. “Or, we could just say that saving my life and taking care of me when you really didn’t have to is enough of a gift to last an entire lifetime and then some.”

Author Bio
Holli Anderson has a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing—which has nothing to do with writing, except maybe by adding some pretty descriptive injury and vomit scenes to her books. She discovered her joy of writing during a very trying period in her life when escaping into make-believe saved her. She enjoys reading any book she gets her hands on, but has a particular love for anything fantasy.
Along with her husband, Steve, and their four sons, she lives in Grantsville, Utah—the same small town in which she grew up.

Interview with H.L. Anderson

Do your characters seem to hijack the story or do you feel like you have the reigns of the story?
Oh, my characters definitely hijack my stories! I love that aspect of writing more than anything else—when a character insists on doing something I hadn’t planned on them doing and it takes the story in a whole new direction. That’s when I know my characters have taken on their own personalities and I feel like I’m doing something right.
Convince us why you feel your book is a must read.
It starts out with such intensity, maybe too much for some people, and develops into this sweet, difficult, unlikely, gut-wrenching love story. And dogs. It has dogs.
Have you written any other books that are not published?
Yes. The first book I wrote is unpublished—and will likely stay that way unless I find the time to completely re-work it. I also have a completed Middle Grade book that I’m trying to decide what to do with.
What is your next project?
I’m about 3/4th of the way finished with a YA superhero/dystopian called Myrikal. When I finish that, I’ll be writing another Romantic Thriller.
Anything you would like to say to your readers and fans?

You ROCK! And, please, review the books you read, it’s really important to us authors.

Giveaway is for an eBook of the book.

Excerpt:
With a jubilant bark, Charlie burst out of the bushes towards me. I let out a sigh of relief as he pranced back and forth, tantalizingly out of reach. Trying to calm down my racing heart, I held out the doggy treat. With a happy yelp, he took the treat from my hand. He only needed two bites to finish it off. Murmuring endearments, I scratched behind his ears as I tried to slip the leash over his head with my other hand. Thinking this was a great new game, Charlie snatched the leash and ran off.
“You’ve got to be kidding me.” I raced after him. “Charlie!”
The leash clenched between his teeth prevented Charlie from barking, so I needed to keep close behind him. But he not only was the size of a small horse, he could run as fast as one, too. Five minutes later, he disappeared. This was ridiculous. Needing to catch my breath, I stopped and fished my cell phone from the messenger bag slung across my chest. I didn’t care if Piper was wearing designer stilts. Charlemagne was her dog, and she was going to come in here and track down her monster puppy.
Before I could call her, loud barks broke out to my left. This time I was the one to burst through the bushes. He wasn’t getting away again. But Charlie stopped barking as soon as he saw me. I knew now why he had been quiet for the past few minutes. He’d been digging away in the dirt, which he resumed upon my arrival. I looked for his leash and spotted it a few yards away, half buried by the dirt he flung to all sides. I picked up the leash before Charlie could get to it
first. As soon as I did, I also spied what appeared to be an animal bone. Most likely a deer.
But when I turned to see what Charlie was digging up now, my heart sank. It was another bone, but not one belonging to a deer. In fact, it was far more than a bone.

It was a human skull . . .

Anavita Renewing Foaming Facial Cleanser

I am really liking this Anavita Renewing Foaming Facial Cleanser. It has a light scent to it, not over powering or a strong chemical smell. It does have foam to it but is no overly foaming. It only takes a squirt to get my face really clean feeling. It rinses off completely and quickly. Unlike a lot of soaps that leave a residue feeling. I have not noticed any irritation from this soap.

The soap comes in a plastic pump bottle. This facial cleanser is 99.8% natural, 70% organic, it is vegan. It is not tested on animals. There is no sulfates, parabens, phthalate, or alcohol in this cleanser. The main ingredients are Aloe Vera, Chamomile, and Olive Leaf.

I live in Florida, the and of sand and sun. My husband and I enjoy the outdoors. We love going to Daytona, St. Augustine, and places like that. We also love riding on the motorcycle. My face really needs a great deep but gentle cleanser. After a day in the outdoors I can feel the grit on my face as well as the sweat. This facial cleanser also works well for everyday dirt and make up.

This is a 6 ounce bottle and with just a squirt at a time the bottle will last quite some time.
