Once they get Valor to their home Carlos decides to see how Muffy will act around Valor. Surprisingly she knows Valor is hurt and goes to him to comfort him.
This is a true story from Karl Beckstrands childhood. It is a very sweet book. As a huge dog lover it brought a tear to my eye. I hate to think of animals hurt, suffering, and alone. I have 2 furry kids. One has 3 legs, he was shit in his rear leg several years ago. So I think this story hit real close to home for me. It is a great book. It doesn't really go into detail of the wounds. it is a short book, and the words would be pretty easy for early readers.
I was given a copy of this book by the author for review purposes but the review is my own thoughts.

BOOK TOUR: The Fabergé Entanglement by Lesley Meryn & Elle Brookes
Book Title: The Fabergé Entanglement by Lesley Meryn & Elle Brookes
Category: Adult Fiction: 306 pages
Genre: Suspense/Action/Romance
Publisher: Lisa Kolber
Release date: July 2015
Content Rating: PG + M (There is some, not much, bad language, sensuality, one alluded sex scene but not described, possible triggers for sexual abuse/non-consensual sex as a plot point, action-style violence)
Book Description:
Sabinne ‘Saber’ Darrieux’s father, the billionaire CEO of Frontenac Global Security has been kidnapped. His ransom is not cash in a numbered offshore account, or a briefcase of Bearer Bonds but something utterly unique, incredibly valuable, and until recently, hidden away from the world.
The kidnapper seems to know Saber very well and knows that the next day, through her work as an elite translator she will be in the same location as the Object. She must steal the Object and deliver it to the kidnapper to ransom her father.
Adrian Steele, a British Intelligence agent has just come off of two harrowing missions. Upon returning to London for a well-earned rest, he learns that his friend and fellow agent has been murdered in Moscow, but not before he made use of a unique Object as a mobile ‘drop site’ for the valuable intelligence he was carrying.
The drop site is traveling from Moscow to England. Steele insists on completing the mission to honor the death of his friend, Gerry Cornell.
At an ultra-chic quasi-diplomatic gathering in a mansion in Windsor, England, Saber and Steele meet and find themselves faced with a powerful, undeniable attraction. But at the moment, this compelling attraction is very inconvenient.
In reality, they are at the mansion to check out the security arrangements — for their own reasons — to steal the Object, a Fabergé egg worth thirty million dollars. But who will get to the egg first?
Fabergé eggs are very famous for their unique surprises. Saber and Steele are about to be very surprised, indeed.
And when Saber clashes with Steele; more than sparks will explode!

INTERVIEW WITH ELLE BROOKES:
Which was the hardest character to write?
Steele was something of a challenge, I wanted to find the right balance between his focus for his work. which is not at all a nice kind of job, and that yearning for something "normal", which he is clueless about. He is a closed off person because of his work, yet tries to be honest, even though he lies for a living. One thing I enjoyed was his strange sense of humor. I'm not quite sure where that came from, because it is not at all me, and it sort of leapt onto the page all on its own (typical character takes over scenario.)
There are many books out there about spies and capable women. What makes yours different?
Even though my book is deeply grounded in real-life scenarios (ones relating to family dynamics and tragedies), I think it is the sense of humor/quirkiness that makes my book different. While it may not be "your" sense of humor or quirkiness, I feel that keeping things off-kilter makes for a more entertaining story. I know I'm not writing great literature. I just want people to have a good time, an enjoyable adventure for a couple of hours. The story is layered with references and asides. You may not "get" one but you should get the next one. I want my readers to have a good time.
What is your next project?
I have so much affection for these characters, even grumpy Emmanuel. I've been doing preliminary research, and making notes on a second book about these characters. They have such strong connections to each other. I want to explore that. I enjoy where the characters take me, and sometimes that's a big surprise! There will be more traveling the world, I recently completed my second trip to Cuba, and literally just got back home from Japan. They will figure into the next book as I've got it planned out in my head. (At this point: things can change)
Where do you write?
I write everywhere and anywhere. Sometimes things happen. I see something or read something, and have to make notes. I will use anything I have to make the notes. This may be my Tablet, iPhone, or the back of a napkin in a bar. I often write from little stacks of paper on my desk. It's kind of messy and disorganized, but I've accepted that its part of my process.
Do you snack while writing?
Not usually, the most I'll go is coffee. When I'm in the zone, the world slips away and all that exists are the people and stories I'm writing about. Sometimes I forget to eat. Really.
Favorite travel spot?
One of my most favorite things to do is travel. I guess it is a hobby (of sorts). I love the adventure, meeting people who challenge the way I see things, those cultural differences. I love the pure delight of the different. I also try to study a bit of language, so that I can interact a bit with the people I meet. I was just in Japan and during a taxi ride realized that the driver was listening to the Sumo match on the radio. I asked him about it, and told him I had been at a match the week before (they run about 2 weeks.) He was surprised with my interest and that I had managed to get tickets to go, but we had a great interaction. There's a whole other thing about taxi drivers in Japan, but that's for another time. I really enjoy Japan, but there are others on my favorites list. Each place has it's own special qualities. I can't pick just one. I know I'm lucky to have been able to travel. But I make it a priority, and work toward it. If you don't do that, it doesn't happen.

EXCERPT:
His list of sins reached a new high today but Noah McLean doubted God was still counting. When you kill people, move drugs around, and spend years screwing everything that moves, daydreaming of fucking Gia by the baptismal fountain at Holy Angels was minor. Minuscule. Modest.
Yet, he breathed better out and away from the house of worship.
The room had shrunk around him then, as did his bedroom now. And his pants. Gia stared out of the window and at the river view like she hadn’t seen it thousands of times. Not from your room.
“I guess it’s just normal to pop a federal agent and baptize children in the same hour.” Noah alternated between brooding and staring at Gia’s ass. He struggled to choose the less painful option.
Her marvelous ass, high on sculpted thighs, claimed his attention more. The view was obscured only by the pearly smile she shot him over her shoulder. It took over her face, her eyes, and his mood. Gia was a sharp ray of light in days filled with shadows.
“Agent Davies had it coming,” she said.
“Not disagreeing, but what the fuck are a bunch of criminals doing in church like devoted members of a parish?”
“Just because we do what’s necessary, it doesn’t make us bad people. Davies sold himself to our enemy. It’s his fault Carissa had to run and Nelly’s dead.” Her voice dropped at the end. The pain echoed still too fresh, her words only half accurate.
“Sebastian’s the one that killed Nelly.” God. Those words would always be a punch to his gut.
“Everyone will eventually get what’s coming to them.” She turned from the window and crossed the room in a few precise steps. “I hate this. We have better things to focus on.” Her breathy tone came laden with promises.
Noah’s world tilted and turned itself to face the sun, yanking him back into the moment, his room, where they were alone. His head, his body, his interest, his dick. Every part of him strained to salute her.

EXCERPT:
“What are you doing aboard my ship?”
I swallowed hard, my lip trembling as I fumbled for the words. I didn’t even know where to start, and my face burned as I tried to gather my thoughts. No matter how I told the story, it all seemed so ridiculous.
“Tell me!” he commanded.
“I’m searching for my fiancé.”
He took a step forward, his boots thudding hard on the floor. “Your fiancé.” He took another step, and I flinched. The ship rolled and tumbled beneath my feet, and I grasped onto the panels, my fingers digging into the polished oak planks.
“Are you mad?” His fists clenched at his sides, powerful and trembling.
“It would look that way, sir.” My eyes drilled into a tiny knot on the floor, willing myself to shrink in size so I could dive into it and scurry away like a little mouse. But his boots thundered forward, the small buckles making a sound like clinking chains.
“Are you in some sort of trouble? Is that it? Are you with child?” His voice softened, and I looked up, startled at the sudden change in his tone.
“No, sir.”
“Well, then?” he boomed.
I jumped, folding myself deeper into the corner of the room. What could I have possibly said to him in that moment? Telling Captain Grant that Johnny’s father had accused me of stealing, so I had to run away to consummate our marriage in order to clear my name and win back my homeland was perhaps not the best way to endear myself to him.
“There’s been…” I swallowed the lump in my throat. “There’s been trouble at home.”
Grant let out an exasperated sound, shaking his head and turning away with a curse. “You do understand you are aboard a ship with over seven hundred male sailors, correct? A woman has no place on a ship of the line bound for battle. I cannot guarantee your safety.”
“I know that, sir.”
“And due to the nature of our mission, I am in no position to turn us around.”
“Yes, sir.”
He shook his head, pacing the room. “You have endangered yourself and my men with your presence. I know officers who would hang you for treason against England for what you have done.”
“I suppose it’s a good thing I’m not English, then.” The words popped out before I could stop them, my latent nationalism waving a pitiful green flag in the dim light of the Captain’s chambers.
A muscle flickered in his jaw, and when he turned to me again, I nearly gasped at the rage in his bright eyes. All the blood drained from my face, and I bit my lip, willing my saucy tongue to hold still.
“You think this is some sort of game?” His eyes narrowed, and he pressed closer to me.
My courage fired back, and I straightened, raising my shoulders in a challenge.
His eyes flitted over me from head to toe, and he made a low sound in the back of his throat. “I should throw you overboard and let the fish eat at your rebel heart.”
“Better to die a rebel than live as a slave.”
