All enlightened beings, most founders of religions and many renowned scientists knew and understood the six principles of enlightenment. These universal truths have been written about, taught and discussed for thousands of years yet remain shrouded in mystery and misinterpretation. This book seeks to remove that shroud.

The Six Principles of Enlightenment and Meaning of Life is an intellectual and spiritual work that explains the six significant universal truths woven throughout science, religion and philosophy. These principles draw upon thousands of years of wisdom and are presented in a concise, accessible format. Each principle is defined and has an explanation on its application to life; they are further supported by quotes of wisdom from enlightened beings, philosophers, artists and scientists like Buddha, Albert Einstein, Rumi, Stephen Hawking and Jesus. Understanding the six principles then unlocks the meaning of life which is explained in the final chapter.

About the Author

Award winning and bestselling author Russell Anthony Gibbs is a philosopher and spiritual seeker on a quest for enlightenment. His research into Baha’ism, Buddhism, Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Islam, Sufism and Taoism greatly influences his spiritual and philosophical perspective. He further incorporates quantum mechanics, physics and psychology as well as concepts from the works of Albert Einstein, Carl Jung, Sigmund Freud and Stephen Hawking.

Gibbs’s communication style is concise, intense and deep. He would rather express wisdom in brief, powerful quotes and concise paragraphs than in complicated, long-winded explanations. Excerpt:

Lexie awoke with a start from a
sound sleep. Gaping into the blackness of the strange bedroom, she discovered the
storm had abated and she detected the creaks and groans of the old house. Then
a crack from the floorboards made her flinch.
It came from Will’s
side of the bed. She reached out to shake him, but he didn’t move.
“Will?”
She received a
muffled grunt.
Another crack in
the floor, but this time it happened right next to her side of the bed. An odor
lingered in the air.
Is
that coffee?

A column of
light glittering to her left made Lexie’s mouth go dry. The oddity soon took on
the shape of a man.
His strong
frame, long arms, and tapered hands came into view. Good-looking, despite the
cruel curl of his lips, his chiseled features, and engaging eyes, made her
insides tingle. But when the cut of his old-fashioned red vest, long black
coat, and white ascot tie took shape, Lexie understood this wasn’t some hazy
fantasy. She didn’t fantasize about men from another century.
Lexie clutched
her bedsheet as a fearful scream rose in her throat.
“Please, my
dear, don’t bore me with your petty shrieks,” the figure said, his tone
condescending.
Like a lightbulb
getting enough electricity to reach its wattage, his image brightened, bringing
out his details. Lexie scrutinized the buttons on his coat, the fine craftsmanship
of his high black boots, and grasped the identity of her visitor.
Then a loud pop rang out, and he was gone. It
happened so fast, Lexie questioned if it had happened at all.
“Welcome to Altmover Manor, Ms.
Arden.” She recognized the voice of the apparition. “I hope you enjoy your stay.”

This time, Lexie did not hold back her scream, and as she opened her
mouth …

Interview with Alexandrea Weis
Where do you get inspiration for your stories? Anywhere and everywhere. I have read news articles which have led to ideas for series. Sometimes it can be a single line, or I can meet a person and see a story in their character.
How did you do research for your book? For Damned, the research on voodoo came from my personal experiences in the French Quarter growing up. I knew several priestesses who would talk about what they do. They made voodoo a personal religion, which was molded to fit the strengths of each priestess. That always stuck with me, so when I began Damned, I wanted what they taught me for Lexie.
Do you have another profession besides writing? I am an RN by education with a PhD. I’m also a permitted wildlife rehabber with the Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries.
If you could go back in time, where would you go? Ancient past, particularly Greece or Egypt.
What is your next project? Up next will be The Chimera Effect which has been optioned for a TV series. This is the first book in the series about Keenan Blythe, a ER physician whose life takes an unexpected twist when his wife and unborn son are brutally murdered and his thirteen-year-old daughter is kidnapped. His search for the killers will unlock mysteries about his family and his bloodline no one ever expected. Look for it next summer.

Building Down - An Inward Journey by Jennifer Lohr

Building Down - An Inward Journey
Jennifer Lohr

Genre: Personal Development / Self Improvement / Self Growth

Date of Publication: September 28, 2017

ISBN-10: 1977501508
ISBN-13: 978-1977501509
ASIN:1977501508

Number of pages: 206
Word Count: 11,810

Cover Artist: Jennifer Lohr

Tagline: We all have the power to heal ourselves.

Book Description:

“Recently I changed my life and I'd like to share my story with you.

This project is as personal as it is unconventional. I share my inner-most self with readers through my challenges and triumphs, leading up to and following an emotional breakdown. For anyone who has ever fallen into a dark abyss of anxiety or depression, I hope this book can be used as a support to help you climb up out of that hole and away from self-defeating patterns.”

Excerpt:

My goal in writing this and
sharing such private experiences is that it just might help someone who sits on
the edge, swaying as I once did. It’s a comfort to know that I may be of help
to anyone in need of the same understandings I am growing to accept and realize
each new day. I’d love for the very basic yet essential message to reach as
many people as possible - please know that you are not alone in the struggle to
move beyond your fear, anger, resentment, sadness, or anxiety.  I’m no therapist, nor do I hold any special
psych degrees, or claim to have all of the answers. This is just life as it
happened for me, and as real as it happened for me.
I am re-hashing a lot of my own
pain but not with the intention to perseverate upon it. It’s an awful lot like
a mirror or movie play-back. ‘What did I miss? How can I grow from this?’
Where’s the lesson?’ My experiences are not in vain because I have chosen to
release myself from the binds of regret.
I’m taking the lessons and moving forward.
            I
should emphasize: none of this piece in any way serves to minimize or
over-simplify the struggle many have with attaining contentment or happiness
(or even getting out of bed some days). I know it’s a challenge. So please: if
you need help, seek it. It can be very difficult to accept ourselves and our
struggles or suffering, but we are the only ones responsible for getting help
when we feel like giving up is an option.

About the Author:

Jennifer has been writing short stories since she was a child and was first published at age 15 for a Poe inspired piece.  Later that same year Jennifer was featured in Who's Who Among American High School Students for creative writing. After adding the roles of wife and mother of four young children to her list of achievements, Jennifer decided it was time to bring her dream of writing a novel to fruition and debuted her first piece in 2014, titled Baltic Mist - A Timeless Saga.

This time, inspired by the Icelandic skald Egil Skallagrimsson, Jennifer latched on to one of his characters from the epic Egil's Saga. Book One of the three-part trilogy was self-published by her own publishing entity: An Ancient Approach. Since then she has released two children's books and is finishing Books Two and Three of the Baltic Mist saga series.

While the her top priority is family first, Jennifer spends her days indulging in creating a quality of life enriched with homemaking, child-rearing, writing, painting, gardening, cooking, or simply making memories with her children. Making a point to remain mindful, Jennifer holds steadfast that everything holds opportunity for growth if she pays close enough attention.

Interview with Jennifer Lohr
Where do you get inspiration for your stories? Empathy and compassion were the driving forces for this manuscript. For this book in particular, I was motivated by a sudden need to reach out to my fellow human being. I wanted them to know they were not alone in their struggles to bypass their mind, and give them hope in finding the power within themselves to overcome mental &/or emotional obstacles that may hinder their success as just living.
How did you do research for your book? This piece was unique, I’d guess you can say, in the way that little research was involved. I was going through a very difficult time in my life and needed to rebuild from the wreckage following a complete emotional breakdown. There were times prior to this when I thought I was experiencing something similar, but this past time in particular was a real make or break moment for me. Thankfully, I’m still here and chose to document my resurfacing from such a dark period in my life.
Do you have another profession besides writing? I’m a full time stay-at-home mom and wife before being an author, I gratefully admit. I also indulge in baking, gardening, painting, and even a little woodwork aside from the usual laundry and housework that typically occupies my days.
If you could go back in time, where would you go? I’ve thought about this a lot, if you can believe it… I’d have to say ancient Greece and to the time prior to the Minoan eruption of Thera (roughly 1600 BCE). Why, exactly, I couldn’t tell you only that one night’s dream took me there and I won’t ever forget the experience.
What is your next project? I have several projects in the works, but completing the second installment in my Baltic Mist – A Timeless Saga trilogy definitely trumps my writing TO-DO list.

**Thank you very much for the interview – I had fun answering your questions! -Jen **

Lovesick Gods by Amanda Meuwissen

Lovesick Gods
Lovesick Series
Part One
Amanda Meuwissen

Genre: - Superhero/Gay Romance

Date of Publication: October 2, 2017

ISBN: 1-943619-33-6
ASIN:

Number of pages: 312
Word Count: 106,903

Cover Artist: Veronika Dolnikova

Tagline: Heroes aren’t meant to act like their villains—or fall in love with them.

Book Description:

The elements touch everyone on Earth—Fire, Water, even Light—but every so often someone becomes more attuned to their elemental leaning and develops true power. When an evil Elemental known as Thanatos arrived in Olympus City, it saw the rise of its first hero—Zeus. But the death toll caused by defeating Thanatos changed Zeus, who by day is young detective Danny Grant.

It’s been six months since Thanatos terrorized the city at the start of Lovesick Gods. Danny should be used to his duty behind the mask, but the recent past haunts him. His girlfriend left him, he snaps at the barest provocation, his life feels empty—he needs an outlet, any outlet to pull him out of his depression.

Enter notorious thief Malcolm Cho, the Ice Elemental Prometheus. There was a time when Danny welcomed a fight with Cho, filled with colorful banter and casual flirtations that were a relief compared to Thanatos. Even as a criminal, Cho had recognized the threat Thanatos posed and promised to help Danny stop him, but the day Danny needed Cho, he never showed. Cho was the reason so many people died that day—including Danny’s mother.

Danny decides to teach the man a lesson and fan the fire of their attraction into something more. At worst, he’ll get some no-strings-attached sex out of the deal and finally blow off steam; at best, he’ll get Cho to fall in love with him and then break his heart to spite him. Danny doesn’t expect to fall for Cho in the process, and he certainly can’t predict the much darker threat on the horizon.

Excerpt:

The long game,
Danny thought as he accepted the hand Cho held out to help him from the sofa.
Cho couldn’t have any fun with a blubbering mess, so of course he’d want to
cheer Danny up. It didn’t mean anything. It just felt nice that Cho didn’t pry
the way the others did. He’d never look down on Danny. He was a liar, a
criminal, a scoundrel—he was the reason Danny had been forced into that
position with Thanatos to begin with—but while the rest of his life felt like
an open wound, somehow Cho was a balm.
Danny made a
show of changing out of Cho’s clothes and into his Zeus costume right there in
the living room. Leaving the sleep pants and T-shirt folded on the sofa, he started
to put on his boots at the door.
“Interesting
choice of work clothes.” Cho crossed his arms with an amused eyebrow raise.
“I’ll change
when I get to the precinct. And next time I’ll call. Or text. Promise. Thanks
for breakfast.” Danny made to walk toward Cho off the rug, then gave an
abortive gesture like oops, stuck now with my boots on.
Cho rolled his
eyes, but he still moved closer to accept the kiss Danny pulled him into. And
let linger. And linger... Maybe a little longer than necessary.
“Have a nice day
at work, dear,” Cho said, sickly sweet in his familiar drawl.
Danny found himself
smiling—and meaning it.
Cho was a bad
man. He was. He…he was. But he made things lighter. And easier. And even though
Danny knew that soon he’d have to end this or risk getting in too deep, for now
he could enjoy the lie for just a little longer.

Interview with Amanda Meuwissen

Where do you get inspiration for your stories?
I tend to get the best ideas from both the books I’m reading and TV shows or movies I’m watching combined with discussion and prompts from my readers. Lovesick Gods for example was influenced by my love of comic book heroes, specifically The Flash and Captain Cold, but it was a fan of my writing who requested I write a story with the premise of a hero character pursuing their villain sexually as a means to eventually hurt them for some sort of revenge, but in the process of winning them over, they come to genuinely care about their nemesis and fall in love. What I didn’t expect was how much my own personal demons and struggles with bipolar depression would come out through writing this story, because I had to imagine what sort of place a hero would be in to plan something so despicable, but still show that they were a redeemable hero. I have a deep fondness for heroic characters being knocked from their pedestals and proven to be corruptible and human, as well as the reverse where villains prove capable of change. The Lovesick Series explores both in a way that comes together very emotionally and satisfying, with the addition of comic book lore.

How did you do research for your book?
There is a lot of myself in my work, personal experiences or things I know intimately because good friends and family have gone through them—at least on the emotional side. For more practically things, most of my research is done online, like when looking into the inner working of Internal Affairs for a police department, or how a power plant works and what might make it unstable and in danger of exploding. In the past, my research was more mythologically based, so this new book was a fun departure.

Do you have another profession besides writing?
I do. Currently, I am the Marketing Operations Manager for a Minnesota-based marketing automation company with a focus on automotive dealerships. It means I spend a lot of time writing non-fiction, which proves to spur me on to write more fiction when the work-day is over. It’s a good balance for me, especially as someone who prefers to be busy.

If you could go back in time, where would you go?
First of all, I would want my time ship nearby so I could enjoy modern amenities whenever I choose, but if that wasn’t a concern, I’ve always been fascinated by the Golden Age of both Roman and Greek cultures. Just to see it all firsthand would be amazing.

What is your next project?
A romance novel called A Model Escort, which I hope to finish during NaNoWriMo this year.
Protagonist 1 just got out of a long-term relationship he wants to forget. Lucky for him, his new career in a new city allows him to start over hundreds of miles from his ex. The only problem is...he's lonely and terrible at starting new relationships. He just wishes that part of his life could be easier.
Protagonist 2 is an escort for Nick of Time Escort Service. He is especially picky about the clients he takes on, but lately, he's felt like something is missing from his life. He doesn't usually take on regulars looking for companionship more than sex, but the right client might be able to change his mind.

It’s shorter than what I usually write, a more contained story, and all about the romance instead of some larger plotline about saving a city or the world. There is still some very heavy emotional challenges with this one as it explores the fallout of an emotionally abusive relationship, so while it’s unique compared to my previous titles, I am especially proud of this one and the difficult topics it covers.
