Fiance For The Night by Melissa McClone Blitz
She needs a fiancé—for only one night.
Cassandra Daniels’ parents refuse to accept that she doesn’t need a boyfriend to be happy. To stop their meddling and matchmaking, Cassandra creates a fictional fiancé, a man who sounds so unlike their carefree and unconventional daughter that her mom and dad want to meet him for dinner, immediately.
No problem. San Francisco is a big city. Finding a fiancé won’t be that hard.
All Troy McKnight wants is a beer after a long day at work. But when a pretty blonde asks him to dinner and wants him to pretend to be her fiancé, Troy agrees to help. Playing make-believe could be fun, especially since he gets a free meal, and he’ll have a great story to tell.
When one lie leads to another, however, the fake engagement spirals into real wedding plans. Cassandra and Troy must stop the madness and put an end to their charade. But what if her fiancé for the night is the perfect husband for life?

Murder at Broadcast Park by Bill Evans Release Blitz!
Thriller / Mystery
eBook Published: October 17, 2017
Publisher: Koehler Books October 2017
Before this current age of broadcasting acquisitions and mergers, local TV stations were owned by the broadcasters, not investment firms. They lived to tell the stories of their communities. In Murder at Broadcast Park, the CBS station located in the rich resort town of Santa Barbara becomes it’s own story. “We never want to be our own news,” was the mandate from Barry Burke, the station’s news director. Except in this case, people are dying. With three murders, more affairs, but no suspects, investigators peer behind the scenes of the local news. Pull the veil off to find twists, turns, and secrets behind the scenes of this resort TV station and its cast of TV professionals. Nothing is off limits.

Goat Castle: A True Story of Murder, Race, and the Gothic South by Karen L. Cox
This is a true story. It involves some sticky situations. There is murder, racism, and mental illness as the top subjects of the book.
The story takes place in the deep south in Natchez, Mississippi in 1932. Racism was rampant then and there. The key players are Richard Dana and Octavia Dockery. To me they are a lot crazy, the book calls them eccentric. They convince George Pearls to help them rob a neighbor Jennie Merrill. During the robbery Ms Merrill is killed.
Before the case could come to trial George Pearls is killed by an Arkansas Police officer in an unrelated incident. But the people would not let the case rest. They wanted someone to pay for the crime. Instead of going for Richard Dana and Octavia Dockery they somehow decided to pin it on an innocent black woman Emily Burns. Emily was sent to prison and Richard and Octavia were never charged.
This is a heck of a story. It is very well researched and has plenty of historical background.
Visual Voyages: Images of Latin American Nature from Columbus to Darwin by Daniela Bleichmar
I was expecting a different type of book then what I got. The book is more or less marketed as a book of photos depicting Latin America. There are quite a few pictures don't get me wrong, but the pictures themselves do not really tell the story as with most photography books. The book is interesting don't get me wrong. It is like a book of essays on the birth and life of Latin America Flora and Fauna. There are 4 chapters in this book. Each chapter covers a different time period ranging over 400 years. The book may not of been what I was expecting but it is a good book just the same, once you change your mindset. |

Why Romance is an Important Part of Any Story.
I love sci-fi/fantasy but I am a sap for a love story.
I can’t see a story without some passion within it. It’s one of the reasons I love my husband because he is as sappy as me and loves a good rom-com (did I mention he’s a scriptwriter?).
Fantastical elements are wonderful pieces to a story but to read and understand a love story, unrequited or not, connects with readers. Because we all have been there. Maybe we fell in love with someone we weren’t supposed to. Or someone out of our league. Or loved someone and experienced loss.
The emotions of love, passion, desire, and lust are a part of the human experience and when we read about characters, perfect or otherwise, exhibiting these emotions, we can connect.
We connect sympathetically. And if an author is really good, empathically.
As much as I enjoy writing about fantasy, action and overall excitement, I don’t think I will ever be able to completely divorce myself from having some romance. I have other series that are waiting backstage and even those will have romance elements to it.
But it’s my firm belief that love is the great equalizer because it's never easy. My characters Katya and Gregor show you that clearly. Some readers might say why add it at all? It’s not to say that the story needs their romance but it makes it so much better. It allows characters to grow and show depth. The romance shows Gregor, though a Grim Reaper, is still capable of exhibiting human emotions. It is my hope that his story resonates with you, the reader. That as you learn about him and his struggles, you won’t see him as a perfect spiritual being, but as a flawed one. And that our flaws follow us and make us who we are. But the romance spotlight allows you to explore him as a character.
Love - it may be cheesy but it’s great to read about it.

DEADSPEAK2. The chilling new entry in the Deadspeak Mystery Series
Things look different when you're dead.
It’s Halloween and a group of teens throw a party at Harbinger Falls’ most celebrated haunted estate. It’s all fun and games until a session with a Ouija board guides the partygoers to the body of a young girl hidden in the attic.
Detective Kimberly Trent is assigned the case and quickly discovers that all is not as it seems. First, there’s the connection between the death and a string of petnappings terrorizing the neighborhood. Then there’s the suicide note that only leaves more questions than answers. A visit from Kimberly’s ghostly friend Griff Lindon sheds an unwelcome light. It seems she’s had a run in with the newly deceased who tells her she’s been murdered.
This is the second in The Deadspeak Mysteries. The entries are meant to be read in sequential order and do not standalone. In each book, you’ll find a new murder for Kimberly Trent to solve. You’ll also find the continuing search for who murdered Kim’s sister Elizabeth. Each book will take you closer and closer to finding out the identity of The Hex Killer, the serial killer who ended Elizabeth’s short life. It will also bring you to the heart of the evil that’s come back to life to wreak revenge.

Excerpt Two:
“A missing cat, sir?”
The shower with Max had turned into a lot more than earning a gold star in good hygiene. The afterglow of lovemaking stayed with her throughout breakfast, and the drive to work. It lasted right up until her talk with Captain Brody Walcott.
He never failed to quash thoughts not related to work.
What the hell was up with him anyway? How dare he propose such a ridiculous idea? After she’d helped solve the biggest case in Harbinger Falls’ history, he wanted her to find a cat?
“Not one, Kim—several. And not just cats. Dogs and cats are disappearing with regularity and people are not happy.”
“Tell them to call Animal Control,” she lashed.
“Animal Control deals with strays, not family pets that are stolen.”
It was a joke. It had to be a joke. She searched his dark eyes, but there were no signs it was.
“I don’t care! Give it to Cinder!” she blurted, tossing the picture of Smoky across the desk. It skidded to a halt at the roughened hands of her illustrious leader.
“Kim!” The angry tone shot through her; she bolted upright in her chair, “I know you think you’re a big detective and that this is beneath you, but there’s been over thirty dogs and fifteen cats abducted since September. There’s no accurate record since officers on this force have the same attitude you do.”
“And what attitude would that be, sir?”
“That pets aren’t important and that the police only deal with important things. Well, pets are important! Especially now that a few missing pets have turned into a pandemic.”
“Sir, I understand that they’re important to the family, but—”
“Detective Trent, do you really think you know everything? Read up on the statistical link between abuse of animals and serial killers, then come back and tell me your opinion.”
“Then you think—”
“What I think is that we either have a dog fighting operation or—”
“Or?” she prodded as he paused and took a swallow of black coffee.
“Or that a very sick individual in our community may develop into something way more terrifying.

AUTHOR Bio and Links:
Born in the idyllic, sleepy town of Ithaca, NY, Ruth Bainbridge has been a lover of mysteries for her entire life.
Ever since a child, she has consumed detective stories at regular intervals, becoming enamored with all the superstars of crime. She loved nothing more than to match wits with the likes of Hercule Poirot, Miss Marple, Thomas Pitt, Lord Peter Wimsey, Richard Jury, and Edward X Delaney, becoming inspired by their brilliance. Hoping to emulate her writing idol’s achievements in dreaming up such characters, she started composing her own short stories.
However, life interfered with her plans of becoming the next hopeful to try a life of crime—on paper at least. Devoting herself to her marriage and the raising of four children, the empty nest syndrome gave her the impetus to return to her first love—murder.
