I took a deep breath, breathing in the smell of the earth, the sweat of the horses, and distinctive smell of cotton balls hanging from plants in the sun. It relaxed me and made talking seem right. “I’m worried about Charleston. I think she got a second detention on purpose.”

“Why would she do that?”

I hesitated, wondering how he might react, but plunged into it. “I think she has a thing for Dillon Smith; she got detention again so she could see him. From what I hear, he’s always in detention.”

“Dillon. Huh.”

It wasn’t quite the reaction I expected. More of a thinking-it-over response instead of the disgust I felt.

I slumped in my saddle. “Well, I can’t believe it. Dillon. Ugh. He’s… well, you know. Remember what he wrote on the gym wall?”

Of course Ellerbe remembered it. Everyone had seen it. It didn’t bear repeating, but being a guy, Ellerbe had laughed it off like most of them.

“Can’t say I’d want him for a brother-in-law anyhow.” His face remained serious. Serious. Like that might happen.

“You don’t think… oh, my gosh, she couldn’t possibly let it go that far. Why did you even have to suggest it?”

He laughed at me. “You’re so gullible. It’s just a school thing. She’ll be over him as soon as the next guy whistles at her.”

I so wanted to believe that. “You think?”

“This is Charleston we’re talking about.”

That was the end of discussion for him. He didn’t understand the implications of it all. His eyes played over my face, and I knew he was laughing at me for being so worried.

He pushed Snow into a trot. “Come on. To the creek.”

Ellerbe’s answer to every problem in the world—ride!

I sighed, thinking maybe he was right. Charleston could be pretty fickle. Maybe it was nothing to worry about.

Hot Guy is incredibly tall, has a mop of dirty-blond hair, and raspy scruff peppering his movie-star jawline. A tight henley shows off every inch of his broad chest and muscular arms from where he stands across the room, just staring at me.

Seems I’ve caught his eye, too. That never happens to me.

“You haven’t drowned in there, have you?” I yell to Annabel, noting that the sound of running water stopped about fifteen minutes ago.

“No, just relaxing,” she calls back.

Just relaxing. Naked. In a bath.

I scramble from the bed and knock gently on the door. “And would you like some company to help you, you know, relax?”

“Did you finish?” She sounds more like a scolding teacher than the girl who ravished me last night. But this is Annabel Lee we’re talking about. It’s all about priorities.

“Yes, I finished. Now, can I come in?” I ask, pulling off my shirt in anticipation.

And so I read it to her sitting on the floor outside the bathroom door. Even I have to admit it’s good. It’s, like, fucking fantastic. When I get to the part about us dancing up there together, the whole crowd making us feel like gods, she makes me read it again, and I smile knowing it meant as much to her as it did to me.

“You can come in now if you want,” she says, sounding a little shyer than I expected to hear. Gone is the bravado of the schoolteacher, replaced again by the girl who still doesn’t know the power she has over me. How does she not realize she’s had power over me since that first dare when she made me switch out Mrs. Peterson’s peanut butter sandwich with kitty litter?

My heart starts beating a little faster, knowing what’s waiting for me on the other side of this wall. My breath catches in my throat when I open the door and see her sitting there, staring up at me, and waiting.

Tiffany Truitt was born in Peoria, Illinois. A self-proclaimed Navy brat, Tiffany spent most of her childhood living in Virginia, but don’t call her a Southerner. She also spent a few years living in Cuba. Since her time on the island of one McDonalds and Banana Rats (don't ask), she has been obsessed with traveling. Tree Life Natural Real Quartz Gemstone Chakra Dangle Earrings

I am in love with these earrings. I had gotten the necklace a few weeks ago and wear it all the time. What better way to improve on a beautiful necklace then to also have the earrings? The earring pendant is the same size as the necklace 1 1/8 inch.

These earrings feature each of the 7 Chakra stones as individual branches of the tree of life. The stones are clear quartz, amethyst, lapis lazuli ,green aventurine, citrine, red agate and redstone. There are 4 to 5 stones on each branch. The stones are small but have been tumbled to a bright shine.

The stones and tree are hand wrapped are wrapped around the outer ring. The wires and outer rings are silver plated.  These are placed onto French hooks. They are not heavy at all to me. I did have to twist the pendant and french hook around a bit to get the pendant to hang that way I wanted it but it was very easy to do.

I love wearing this beautiful set. It is perfect for wearing out during casual or dressy events. These would also make a beautiful and memorable gift for someone special. Mine came shipped on a cardboard card in a clear plastic sleeve.

Ownpets Dog Bowl Set with Non-Slip Silicone Mat

This set of food bowl and mat is the best set I have owned so far. I have used several Dog bowls and a few different mats but none have worked as well. This one has a silicone mat with  Indentions that actually hold the food bowls in place. The bows fit right into the indentions and cant be pushed around. This helps so much with accidental spills. There is also a lip around the edge of the mat so my messy drinkers do not get water all over the floor. The lip keeps the water on the mat.

The set includes the mat and 2 stainless steel bowls.  The bowls hold about 20 ounces. Great for smaller dogs or even cats. I love that the whole set can be put into the dishwasher for cleaning. Hand washing is fine for quick clean up but the dishwasher also sanitizes the set. The mat is about 10 1/4 inches wide and 17 1/2 inches long. The bowls are about 5 1/2 inches across and about 2 inches deep. The mat is shaped like a bone. It can be placed pretty much anywhere since it is pretty much spill proof and it is nonskid.
