About Amber Lynn Natusch

Amber Lynn Natusch is the author of the bestselling Caged, as well as the Light and Shadow series with Shannon Morton. She was born and raised in Winnipeg, and speaks sarcasm fluently because of her Canadian roots. She loves to dance and sing in her kitchen—much to the detriment of those near her—but spends most of her time running a practice with her husband, raising two small children, and attempting to write when she can lock herself in the bathroom for ten minutes of peace and quiet. She has many hidden talents, most of which should not be mentioned but include putting her foot in her mouth, acting inappropriately when nervous, swearing like a sailor when provoked, and not listening when she should. She’s obsessed with home renovation shows, should never be caffeinated, and loves snow. Amber has a deep-seated fear of clowns and deep water…especially clowns swimming in deep water.

Uncle John's OLD FAITHFUL 30th Anniversary by Bathroom Readers' Institute

Do you like trivia? Do you enjoy fun facts? Do you get bored while doing your thing in the bathroom? This book will be for you.  I actually read this book setting in my easy chair instead of the bathroom but I learned a whole lot of stuff from this book. No I am not a genius now but I do know several new things. They may not be things that will get me anywhere in life but a lesson is a lesson and none of us are ever to old to learn something. The facts in this book are are fun to read. They are short little snippets. Some will stick with you for days to come. Some you may have to pick up the phone and call someone just to share that "Did you know" question.

Things in the book are: Did you know there were 13 honeymooning couples on the Titanic?
Pabst Blue Ribbon Beer got it's name from the ribbon it won at the 1893 World's Fair.
The first junk mail was a Vick's Vapor Rub ad.

I received this book from the Author or Publisher via Netgalley.com to read and review.

Natrogix Bliss - Top 9 Therapeutic Grade 100% Pure Essential Oil Set

I am in love with this set of 9 Pure Essential oils set. The set includes the top 9 scents. The scents are Eucalyptus, Frankincense, Lavender, Lemongrass, Lemon, Moroccan Rosemary, Sweet Orange, Tea Tree, Peppermint. You get a 10 ML amber colored bottle of each. The scents are clearly marked on the bottles. The bottles have what are called a Euro Dripper where 1 drop comes out of the bottle at  time. No messy eye droppers needed. The scents are very clean and strong. You will only need a couple of drops at a time to enjoy the scent.

I use Essential oils in all kinds of things.. I have diffusers in every room, I wear a diffuser necklace 24/7. I have a diffuser in my car even. I also use essential oils in home made lotions and soaps. I also use some essential oils straight out of the bottle on my skin.

With your purchase you get a e-book over over 200 recipes that goes along with the set of oils. There are all kinds of mixing scents, adding to lotions, soaps, shampoos and more. The books can be very helpful to giving you ideas of mixed scents, but most importantly the dosage. No one wants to spend time making an awesome hand lotion and then it smelling bad or being way overly scented. You have just wasted time and money and the lotion is in the trash.

There is also a small paper Quick Start guide in the box of the essential oils. It tells you a bit about each scent. At the back of the book are a few recipes to get you started also.

These essential oils are therapeutic grade. They are safe for skin and diffusing. They should however not be taken internally. You need food grade for that. This does not mean that they are not pure because they are. From what I have learned over the years it is the way they are processed that make the difference.

The oils come boxed in  very nice cardboard box, all the oils are tightly packed in. There is also a decorative sleeve over the outside of the box. This is packed and ready to go to make a perfect gift for someone who is interested in Essential oils.

VBT: Beautiful Mess by John Herrick

Beautiful Mess
by John Herrick

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE:   Mainstream fiction (romantic comedy) -- multigenerational ensemble cast
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

A fallen star. Four Los Angeles misfits.
And the Marilyn Monroe you only thought you knew.

Del Corwyn is an aging relic. An actor who advanced from errand boy to Academy Award nominee, Del kept company with the elite of Hollywood’s golden era and shared a close friendship with Marilyn Monroe. Today, however, he faces bankruptcy.

Humiliated, Del is forced to downgrade his lifestyle, sell the home he's long cherished, and fade into a history of forgotten legends—unless he can revive his career. All he needs is one last chance. While searching through memorabilia from his beloved past, Del rediscovers a mysterious envelope, dated 1962, containing an original screenplay by Marilyn Monroe—and proof that she named him its legal guardian.

Del surges to the top of Hollywood’s A-list overnight. But the opportunity to reclaim his fame and fortune brings a choice: Is Del willing to sacrifice newfound love, self-respect and his most cherished friendship to achieve his greatest dream?

A story of warmth, humor and honesty, Beautiful Mess follows one man's journey toward love and relevance where he least expects it—and proves coming-of-age isn't just for the young.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Excerpt Two:
“In that case, the first thing we need to do is establish its authenticity. I’ll get the proof lined up and we’ll keep it in our back pockets. Next, we’ll hold a press conference to announce the existence of the screenplay—but let the press speculate about whether it’s authentic. We’ll hem and haw for a while, tease them a bit, make them think they have us cornered.”
Del didn’t want to look like a fool in public, regardless of how temporary or intentional, but he was willing to hear the rest of the idea. He stroked his chin and clasped his hands upon his chest. “And what happens next?”
“Then, when attention is at its peak, we release the evidence. It’ll be good for another round of marketing. So instead of releasing the evidence at the first news conference, we’ll get twice the bang for our buck.”
“Makes sense to me.” Del felt much more at ease. He exhaled and took a swig of water. The bottle’s thin plastic crackled in his grip.
“We’ll need some time to strategize this while the thumbprints are verified. I know a guy who can get it done under the radar. Meanwhile—and I’m sure you know this, but I’ll stress it anyway—don’t breathe a word of this until the day of our big announcement. Not to the media, the studio people, producers—not even to the chef at your sushi restaurant. The element of surprise will strengthen our bargaining position. Agreed?”
“Agreed.”
Arnie exhaled, as though in relief, and scratched his bald head. His fingers left behind red streaks. “This is big, Del.”
Del’s pulse increased with anticipation, yet he maintained his composure. He finished his water and crumpled the bottle.
‘Big’ didn’t do it justice.
This wasn’t just Marilyn’s final chance.
It was Del Corwyn’s, too.
AUTHOR Bio and Links:
A self-described “broken Christian,” John Herrick battled depression since childhood. In that context, however, he developed intuition for themes of spiritual journey and the human heart.
Herrick graduated from the University of Missouri—Columbia. Rejected for every writing position he sought, he turned to information technology and fund development, where he cultivated analytical and project management skills that helped shape his novel-writing process. He seized unpaid opportunities writing radio commercial copy and ghostwriting for two nationally syndicated radio preachers.
The Akron Beacon Journal hailed Herrick's From the Dead as “a solid debut novel.” Published in 2010, it became an Amazon bestseller. The Landing, a semifinalist in the inaugural Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award contest, followed. Publishers Weekly predicted “Herrick will make waves” with his novel Between These Walls.
Herrick's nonfiction book 8 Reasons Your Life Matters introduced him to new readers worldwide. The free e-book surpassed 150,000 downloads and hit #1 on Amazon's Motivational Self-Help and Christian Inspiration bestseller lists. Reader response prompted a trade paperback.
His latest novel, Beautiful Mess, folds the legend of Marilyn Monroe into an ensemble romantic-comedy.
Herrick admits his journey felt disconnected. “It was a challenge but also a growth process,” he acknowledges. “But in retrospect, I can see God's fingerprints all over it.”
Interview with John Herrick
Where do you get inspiration for your stories?
More often than not, my stories begin as “What if?” questions. That’s not intentional. As a writer, I try to do whatever works. But the reason what-if scenarios work so well for me is because they take  people outside their comfort zones, or outside documented history, and requires them to adapt by changing their behavior. Oftentimes, it starts with my reading a news article and asking, “What if Person X hadn’t followed their hunch, or crossed paths with Person Y in a different environment? How would that have altered their interaction and, thus, tend result?” Or if I hear that a key piece of evidence enabled authorities to solve a crime, I’ll wonder, “Instead of finding Evidence X, what if they found Evidence Y? How would that have changed the course of their investigation, but still led to the same result?” Same plot, same resolution—but how we get there is a completely different. One small detail, one choice, can change the course of our lives.
How did you do research for your book?
The fact that I love Marilyn Monroe’s films allowed me to begin with a working knowledge of her. However, Beautiful Mess isn’t about her films or the Marilyn we see on screen. It’s about the Marilyn we don’t see on screen. In order to re-create her style of speech for dialogue purposes, I studied interview material. I came across what was allegedly her final interview, which was perfect. Over time, we change the nuances in how we speak, so that final interview showed me Marilyn at her most mature, when most of the flashback material takes place. In addition, to help create plausible dialogue and plot elements, I combed through a lot of her biographical material. That helped me understand her background and psyche, which are two drivers behind what someone says and does.
Do you have another profession besides writing?
Yes, have a full-time career in direct marketing for a nonprofit media syndicate. My work is a blend of writing, creative, analytics and technology. I’ve had the opportunity to glean from marketing professionals. It has helped me to develop a working knowledge of the roles my partners play in And being a novelist comes in handy when I need to ghostwrite—I’m used to stepping into a character’s shoes and crafting dialogue under their personality! That relegates my book work occurs to 2 or 3 hours in the morning, watching the sunrise, until it’s time to leave for the full-time profession. Discipline and time management are the keys for me. But my full-time profession sharpens my skills in multiple areas. It has become an important partner. Writing a novel, if you do it well, isn’t just about the words on a page. I’d argue that’s only half the job, at best. Novels are also about goals, structure, audience, balance, results. You need to market your ideas to media outlets, interact with readers and professionals, brainstorm with a publicist, and build a personal reputation. Find your lane, the one where your strengths shine, and find a way to do what you alone can do.
If you could go back in time, where would you go?
Oh wow, what a great question! Here’s something that has nagged at my brain for years, and I look forward to getting the answer in heaven: For those of you familiar with the Bible, you’ll know that it records the story of Jesus’ birth. The next time you see Him, He’s twelve years old. Then you don’t see him until he’s thirty and begins His ministry. The Bible offers few details about those undocumented years beyond some general facts. It tell us He was a carpenter. I picture Him working as a carpenter, knowing in His heart He was destined for something completely different, but He had to wait until the proper time. And while He waited, day in and day out, He built furniture or whatever. Perhaps He interacted with irate customers. Maybe He dealt with dishonest people like we do today—people who tried to rip Him off or lied to cover their mistakes. Probably some people who gave Him a lazy effort after He had given them His best. What lessons did He learn as He pressed through those headaches?
I started my career in IT doing computer programming, which was the opposite of my interests and skill set—but in that context, I developed the framework I needed to complete long-term projects like a novel. The experience was a turning point for me. So if I could go back in time, I would watch Jesus in action as a carpenter, talk to Him, and find out what skills He picked up during the daily grind that helped Him mature and prepared Him for ministry.
What is your next project?
I’ve finished another romantic-comedy. It’s in the can for a shelf date of late 2018. Meanwhile, I’m in the research and trial-and-error phase. It takes a while for me to land on a concept that grabs my heart, but once I find it, I marry myself to it for the next year or two. So I’ve had some false starts, including initial research or planning for five or so projects, some even fleshed out extensively. On a positive note, if I ever need an immediate project, I can return to one of those and hit the ground running. It’s happened before!
You can find out about my latest projects at my website, www.johnherrick.net, and on my social networks. The links are on the site.
Thanks so much for letting me stop by for a visit!
I Stop Somewhere
T.E. Carter
Published by: Feiwel & Friends
Publication date: February 27th 2018
Genres: Contemporary, Young Adult
THE LOVELY BONES meets ALL THE RAGE in a searing, heartbreaking contemporary story of a lost teenager, and the town she leaves behind.
Ellie Frias disappeared long before she vanished.
Tormented throughout middle school, Ellie begins her freshman year with a new look: she doesn’t need to be popular; she just needs to blend in with the wallpaper.
But then the unthinkable happens and Ellie is trapped after a brutal assault. She wasn’t the first victim and now she watches it happen again and again. She tries to hold on to her happier memories in order to get past the cold days, waiting for someone to find her.
The problem is, no one searches for a girl they never noticed in the first place.
TE Carter’s stirring and visceral debut not only discusses and dismantles rape culture but also makes you slow down and think about what it is to be human.
Goodreads / Amazon / Barnes & Noble
EXCERPT:
Later, I remember how my dad would stand in my doorway, watching me. Trying to reach me across so little space, yet so much. He stared at me like you look at a museum display or a creature in the zoo. I was the coelacanth and he was awed by my strangeness.
“I brought you something,” he said, holding a bag out across the threshold to my bedroom.
My room was an experiment. Posters and magazine pages and images covered the walls and the vanity and my dresser. All the people I wanted to be, wanted to look like. They were the people who mattered. I stared at myself in the mirror, hating how I looked. I hated how the curves made the boys poke me through the back of my chair in class, and how they made the girls call me fat. I hated how far the people in the magazines were from me. I thought I would never count, because I wasn’t them.
“What is it?” I asked my dad, gesturing toward the bag he was holding.
“I thought you might like it.”
It happened every few nights. He’d show up, presenting an offering in a plastic bag. Makeup. Clothes. Hair bands. He tried. He tried and so I tried, but the discount stickers said it all.
They were marked down, because the lipstick was too orange. The tank top wasn’t cut right. The hair pins would have been perfect for a girl my age – ten years ago. But I wore them for him and he smiled, because he didn’t know the difference.
“Thanks, Dad. I love it,” I lied.
“You’re beautiful, Ellie.”
I was a markdown girl.
I did know the difference.
Sensuality Level: Behind Closed Doors
Goodreads / Amazon / Barnes & Noble / iBooks / Kobo
EXCERPT:
The AES machine flashed across the finish line as the starter waved the green flag, the prismatic paint job displaying every color of the spectrum.
“God, she’s beautiful.” The moment Brad had uttered the words, he realized he wasn’t sure if he was referring to the car or its driver. He was happy he didn’t have his microphone on, though.
A video feed of Gabrielle’s progress was in a corner of his computer screen. As she barreled down the long backstretch, which was five-eighths of a mile in length all by itself, he checked her speed. She was zooming at over two hundred miles per hour.
At Gabrielle’s request, the team had disconnected her speedometer. Brad was to report her speed when she finished the first lap and again when she completed the attempt. He was to say nothing else.
Brad held his breath as she flew down the front straight, the song of the turbocharged engine sweeter than an opera singer, and completed lap one. Her speed flashed on the screen. It was all Brad could do to keep from shouting.
“Two hundred point thirteen. Everything looks great.”
The first lap was pole-winning speed.
Down the backstretch and into turn three, the line Gabrielle took was as smooth as soft-serve ice cream. Exiting turn four, she drifted up so close to the white concrete retaining wall, Brad flinched and closed one eye for a moment.
The close call didn’t slow her down, though. She took the checkered flag, completing the run with a two-lap average of 200.2 miles per hour.
“Congrats, Gabrielle, you just set a Continental Series track record.”
“Yes!” Her shout almost burst Brad’s eardrums.
Scott gave Brad a thumbs-up but pointed at the scoring pylon. There were two cars left to make their qualifying attempts. One of them was Chas.
By the time Gabrielle was out of the car and had her helmet off, the number seventy-seven had the first lap in the books at just under 199 miles per hour. He was no threat. The team gathered around her to wait for Chas to make his attempt.
Brad gave Gabrielle a fist bump, but nothing more. He didn’t want to jinx anything.
The Thornton Industries machine looked fast as it took the green flag. Brad reached out and took Gabrielle’s hand. A pleasant tingling sensation went up his arm when they touched. She didn’t pull away. Rather, she held on. It was a perfect fit.
Nobody said anything as Chas came into view coming out of turn four. Brad kept his focus on the scoring pylon as their rival completed lap one.
199.96.
Gabrielle loosened her grip a touch as the group let out a collective sigh of relief. Chas wasn’t far off Gabrielle’s time, but catching her could be a tall order. It was an order he couldn’t deliver. His second lap was a tick over two hundred miles per hour.
Gabrielle was on the pole.
For the most important race of the season.
At the most historic racing venue on Earth.
Amid a cacophony of whoops and shouts of elation, Brad took Gabrielle by the shoulders.
“You did it.” At that moment, someone bumped him into Gabrielle, which brought his lips to hers. The moment they made contact, fireworks went off. Brad wasn’t sure if they were real or imagined, but he didn’t care. Kissing the woman in his arms was electrifying.
Her lips were soft, with a hint of blueberry from her lip balm. His thumb stroked her cheek and wiped away a tear. All too soon, she pulled back. He opened his eyes to find her red-cheeked but smiling from ear to ear. He recovered his senses enough to take her wrist and raise her arm.
“Presenting your pole winner for the Memorial One Hundred, Gabrielle Marquez.”
Every attempt to contain the deadly AM13 virus has failed, leaving humanity on the brink of extinction…
The plague is spreading out of control with no cure in sight. Then the government announces its new plan—a sanctuary in an area completely untouched by the infected—as long as you can get there alive and unscathed.
Ethan Watton has managed to survive this long, even with OCD making every day more hellish than it already is…
Ethan’s obsessive-compulsive disorder dramatically affected his life before the infection began. Now he’s desperate to get as far away from the zombie virus as humanly possible. Isolated and afraid, Ethan thinks there is no way in hell he will survive the epidemic.
Alyssa Turner has spent her teenage years prepping for the undead to challenge her zombie killing skills…
Alyssa knows with absolute certainty that she will survive the AM13 virus. She’s read all the books, watched all the films, and done all the research. She’s strong, tough, and a self-proclaimed badass. Any group would be lucky to fight alongside her…until the unthinkable makes her doubt every skill she’s acquired.
Dr. Jones is a scientist who doesn’t understand why he was selected to produce a cure…
Surely there are survivors more experienced in virology than he is. And what will happen to him—and the rest of the species—if he fails? Is the fate of the human race really resting on his shoulders? Or are there others working toward the same goal?
AM13 Outbreak Series, Book One
Leah Watton’s practical joke has spiralled way out of control—all to impress a crush…
With a prank online video, Leah hopes to catch the attention of Jake Colton, a cute, blond-haired, blue-eyed co-worker she’s had a crush on for months. But instead of sending it to Jake, she manages to forward the clip to her boss—who buys every gory second.
When mass panic ensues, Leah learns the video is more than a staged act…
The government is calling the virus AM13. As the outbreak spreads, citizens are forced to stay indoors while they assess the gravity of the illness. Most people are quarantined in their homes, but Leah, Jake, and Leah’s best friend Michelle are some of the unlucky few who are stuck at work when the Lockdown occurs.
That’s where she first encounters one of the infected…
Aside from a contaminated woman devouring one of her co-workers, Leah has another problem. Does she do as she’s ordered and stay at work? Or should she disobey government orders and break free to reunite with her family?
She can’t go it alone—after all, Leah has none of the skills needed to survive—but with Michelle and Jake by her side, not even a contagious virus and a sea of the dead can keep her from…
Breaking out of the Lockdown…
AM13 Outbreak Series, Book 3
Writing books about the horrors of the zombie apocalypse is one thing—but Georgie Blake can’t believe it has become her reality…
She never expected her fictional stories of blood, death, and the consumption of human flesh to jump off the page into the real world. She certainly didn’t think she’d survive this long if they had. As a shy novelist, she was sure she’d be one of the first to die.
Safe in the Sanctuary, Georgie holds on to hope for a cure...
But that’s not all she holds on to. The government has promised the people of the Sanctuary that they can return home. The rumours are rife that there is an antidote on the horizon. But even if not, the infected are dying out, throwing the treacherous AM13 virus to the brink of extinction. If the infection dies out, this horrible nightmare Georgie is living in will be a distant memory.
Until everything that’s right goes terribly wrong...
Soon after meeting some new friends in the Sanctuary, Georgie learns she’s going to have to face the monsters outside the walls if she wants to return to her old life. But for a scared, introverted bookworm, it may be too much to consider...
Will Georgina conquer her fears of the dead to return home, or will she be one of the countless others who have gone Extinct?
