Born into rival drug cartels, Kevyn Zozlov and his best friend Esperanza Torres defy the odds, finding laughter in a world full of pain. Ripped away from her at a young age, Kevyn has to learn the difference between family, loyalty, and obedience. Fear keeps him focused each day. Memories fill his dreams at night.

Torn between the death he sees daily and what he believes is right, he struggles to decide the kind of man he wants to be—until a promise he makes to his mother, the person he loves more than anyone, changes everything.

“Get out of here and find Esperanza. Promise me.”

Now, Kevyn has to figure out how to make his way to the only friend he ever had—the one person who understands his damaged world. Will she welcome him back with open arms, or turn him away, leaving him more lost than he already is?

With time against him, can he find Esperanza and his happiness, or will he be another casualty of the drug war, buried in an unmarked grave with no one to mourn his loss?

Excerpt:

My fourteenth
birthday started with screaming, “I want to see my son.  He would never ask for this.  Kevyn!
Kevyn!”
My father was
screaming for me?
The hopeful boy
in me that had always prayed he would love me ran out of my room and down the
stairs.  He was in the cage.  I stared at him in confusion.  Looking back at me was nothing but hatred.  Still.
He didn’t need my help.  Didn’t
want it.  He wanted me to see how much I
disgusted him.
“You fucking
bastard!”  He screamed.  Spit flew from his mouth.  As usual, he was high.  “How dare you wish this for your birthday?”

About the Author:

From a young Renee Dyer had a love of writing, starting with a doodle pad at age four that morphed into journals.  Poetry became short stories and short stories a novel.  Although she’s surrounded by males all day having three sons, a husband, and a hyperactive chocolate lab, she still finds time to be herself by escaping into the fantasy of reading and writing romance.  That is, until she needs a male’s perspective and garners eye rolling from her husband at all of her questions.  Renee is a true New Englander.  You can find her screaming profanity at the TV while the Pats play and cuddling under blankets during the cold seasons (which is most of them), reading a good book.  She doesn’t believe snow is a reason to shut things down, only to slow down and admire the beauty.  Ask her anything.  She’s an open book—pun fully intended.

Interview with Renee Dyer
Where do you get inspiration for your stories?
Everywhere—music, nature, conversations, people watching, social media—life.  Everything around me brings forth ideas stories.
How did you do research for your book?
The internet is every author’s friend, as it was mine with Sevyn.  There were a couple questions I couldn’t find answers to, but I’m fortunate to be friends with a few people in the medical community and have a friend or two who are married to police officers.  It always amazes me how willing they are to get answers for me.
Do you have another profession besides writing?
I get my craft on, on the daily.  I’m a swag maker.
If you could go back in time, where would you go?
I’d love to go back to the day I was born and see the first moment my mom saw me.
What is your next project?
Oh boy, that’s a loaded question.  Let’s see, where to start…Exposed, book four in the Healing Hearts Series is written, but won’t be published until I finish rewrites in the first two books.  Hidden, Book five in the Healing Hearts Series has been started.  I’m writing Not Mine to Have, the short story that was published in the Incognito/Revealed Anthology, into a full length novel.  And I have about seventeen notebooks with ideas and outlines for books, including a series for 4-7 year-olds I’m writing with my son, Sam, and a series for 8-12 year-olds I’m writing with my son, Aiden.

Tagline: How far will you go to be with the one you love?

Book Description:

Two worlds.

Separation and control were all they had ever known. The laws set by the iron fist of the Coven of Vampyres pass down to the human reverts was what their worlds were built upon. Love, passion, emotional yearning and above all, human and vampyre fraternization–all strictly forbidden. Yet, a moment’s encounter would soon change all that. One single embrace would alter their worlds forever.

The young vampyre, Sebastian of Orias, son of a ruling member of the Coven, and nineteen-year-old Kyra Dunning, daughter of the Chief Councilman in the human régime would soon learn what it means to feel an insatiable passion. This feeling caused the forbidden fruit to consume their hearts with hunger neither knew existed. To be apart was to die. Henceforth, they chose to break the rules, defy the Coven, and embrace this connection, regardless of the dangers that may unfold.

With marriages arranged, political power to centralize, and underground dissension to eradicate, both the Coven and the Council will stop at nothing to maintain order. And the love between Sebastian and Kyra, unbeknownst to them, may mean the end of everything they’ve ever known.

Excerpt:

The dark meadows
and midnight air blast through her hair giving off a scent that would attract
any Vampyre for miles. It was there he sensed her. It was there he could no
longer deny himself the pleasure of getting to know who she was. The rules were
set, and the laws were written, but none of that could keep him restrained. Not
anymore.
His emotions
fluttered, leaving him no other choice. He must take that chance, regardless of
the prospect of rejection. For months, he watched her, lurking in the shadows
of their lands, never giving thought as to what would happen if he were to be
discovered. It was a risk he was more than willing to take, if only just to get
a second glance of her beauty.
He was, after
all, the son of a count, and he knew the rules better than anyone.
Fraternization between Vampyre and human was strictly forbidden. The rules were
imprinted in his brain from birth, but he had to choose differently. Was it her
human frailty or the smell of her blood that drew him there every night?
Whatever this enchanting spell was that led him to her lands took total
control, forcing him to do things he thought he’d never do.
Romantic love
was forbidden and after months of obsessing over this human woman, he was
beginning to understand why. All rational thought escaped his mind whenever he
was near her. The erratic and irrational impulses that made him sneak out of
his room, cross the neutral territory, and enter their lands each night had
overwhelmed him. He’d lost control, yet refused to do anything about it. This
was who he wanted to be.
Henceforth, that
night in the dark meadows, basking in the midnight air, he made his approach.
Would she welcome him or fear him? What stories would she have heard about his
kind that could force her to be reluctant by his presence? He had no choice,
for it was too late to turn back now. She was alone, and he would never have an
opportunity like this again. He pushed back the bushes, taking slow steps
toward her. Hesitant, he thought about turning around and forgetting about her.
He knew where this would lead. Still, he interjects his reason and pushes aside
all logic, giving in to his wanting desire.
“Hello,” he
whispered softly from behind. She froze. She knew the end was near. She knew
the Vampyre creeping up behind her would make her his supper if she didn’t run,
and quick. Without thought, she took off screaming for her life. Her action to
his bold move didn’t surprise him at all; the only thing that entered his mind
was how beautiful she looked when she ran away. He didn’t pursue right away. He
stood there paralyzed, fearful that he would be discovered.
If anyone heard
her screaming it would be the end of him. Before she could get too far, he
headed her off, and in a flash was right in front of her. They had collided.
She ran right into him. The touch of her soft warm skin sent a sense of inner
peace and tranquility through this entire body.
They had their
arms wrapped around each other like lovers in need. That sensual gaze he gave
her forced the fear to melt away only to be replaced with apprehension and
embarrassment.
“I will not harm
you,” he said in a passionate whisper.
“What do you
want from me?” Her voice trembled.
“Simple conversation.”
“You mean to
kill me?”
“Of course not.
But far be it for me to make you my meal someday.”
“Who are you?”
She gave him an uneasy glance.
He stared into
her eyes and smiled, brushing his fingers through her soft, long hair. And thus
that single encounter, that bold embrace set forth the path they would go
through together; placing things in motions that would tear the very boundaries
of everything they’d ever known. Forever.

DUMPSTER DYING - GRILLED CHILLED AND KILLED BOOK TOUR

Dumpster Dying & Grilled, Chilled and Killed
by Lesley A. Diehl

Dumpster Dying: Book 1 in the Big Lake Murder MysteriesCozy Mystery

Paperback: 248 Pages E-Book 232 pages
ISBN-13: 978-0997234923

Emily Rhodes came to rural Florida for the cowboys, the cattle, and to do a little country two-step, not to fall head first onto a dead body in a dumpster. Ah, the golden years of retirement in the sunshine state. They’re more like pot metal to Emily, who discovers the body of the county’s wealthiest rancher in the Big Lake Country Club dumpster. With her close friend accused of the murder, Emily sets aside her grief at her life partner’s death to find the real killer. She underestimates the obstacles rural Florida can set up for a winter visitor and runs afoul of a local judge with his own version of justice, hires a lawyer who works out of a retirement home, and flees wild fires hand-in-hand with the man she believes to be the killer.

My review:
Retired school teacher Emily has moved to South Florida, she has just lost her life partner to a sudden death. She is fighting with his Ex Wife over the estate and, she finds the body of a wealthy rancher in the dumpster outside the Country Club she tends bar at. Now she needs to help find the real killer to save her friend who has been accused of the murder. When it rains it pours.

Wow what a book. There is always something going on. No Dead spots so to speak. The story is fast moving and keeps the pages turning. I really enjoyed this book. I live in Florida and love reading about things and places I know something about. Makes a book more real for me.

This is my first book by Lesley A. Diehl but it will not be my last. I really enjoyed her writing style. I love how she keeps the tempo up, does not fill you with a ton of unneeded description and information, and makes you want to race down the page to find out what will happen next.

It seems as if Emily is destined to discover dead bodies. This time she finds one of the contestants at the local barbecue cook-off dead and covered in barbecue sauce in a beer cooler. She should be used to stumbling onto corpses by now and the question of who killed the guy should pique her curiosity, but Emily decides to let Detective Lewis handle this one, at least until she figures his theory of who did the deed is wrong, wrong, wrong. Lewis’ denigration of Emily’s speculations is condescending enough to stimulate her dormant snooping skills. As the two of them go on their separate paths to find the killer, Lewis’ old partner, Toby the dirty, tobacco-spitting cop interferes in the investigation leaving Lewis with the wrong man in jail. Killers, bootleggers, barbecue and feral pigs—it’s a lethal game of hide and seek in the Florida swamp.

About The Author

Lesley retired from her life as a professor of psychology and reclaimed her country roots by moving to a small cottage in the Butternut River Valley in Upstate New York. In the winter she migrates to old Florida—cowboys, scrub palmetto and open fields of grazing cattle, a place where spurs still jingle in the post office, and gators make golf a contact sport. Back north, the shy ghost inhabiting the cottage serves as her literary muse. When not writing, she gardens, cooks, frequents yard sales and renovates the 1874 cottage with the help of her husband, two cats and, of course, Fred the ghost, who gives artistic direction to their work. She is the author of a number of mystery series and mysteries as well as short stories. The third book in the Eve Appel murders (from Camel Press) A Sporting Murder was awarded a Readers’ Favorite Five Star Award and her short story Gator Aid a Sleuthfest (2009) short story first place. She has fired the alligator that served as her literary muse when she is in Florida and is interviewing applicants for the position.

Ally

On the run, with no one to turn to,

I’m doing all I can to stay alive, protect myself, and my little boy.

I left everything behind, determined to start over and give my child a normal life.

I have rules. Rules I have to follow. Rules that keep me alive.

1. Keep my head down.

2. Keep life simple.

3. Trust no one.

That definitely includes retired Navy Seal Jonah Bradford. He’s completely off limits.

It doesn’t matter if he wakes up the woman inside of me.

I can’t be that woman anymore. No matter how much he makes me wish I could.

Jonah

Giving up my career to run the family business wasn’t an easy decision. Once a SEAL, always a SEAL.

Yet, I’ve adjusted. I like my life, but something is missing.

One look at the freckle-faced beauty working at the local diner and I know exactly what it is.

But, I’m alive today by following my instincts and everything about Ally is setting off alarm bells that scream she’s trouble.

I don’t care. I want her.

The problem is she won’t give me the time of day.

That’s okay. I like a challenge.

I just have to uncover all of her secrets and end the fear that keeps shining in her eyes.

Operation Ally is underway.

Genre: Romantic Comedy, Women's Fiction, Contemporary Romance
Release Date: May 23, 2017

Enough laughs to satisfy fans of Bridget Jones. Enough sparkly shoes and breathtaking ball gowns for fans of Cinderella…
Twenty-eight-year-old Tessa Sharpe, a.k.a. The Royal Watchdog, hates everything about Prince Arthur. As far as she’s concerned, he’s an arrogant, lazy leech on the kingdom of Avonia. When he shocks the nation by giving her the keys to the castle in an attempt to boost his family’s dismal public approval ratings, Tessa has no choice but to accept and move in for two months. It’s lust at first site, but there’s no way she can give in to her feelings—not if she wants to have a career or a shred of pride left when her time at the palace ends.
Ultra-private, ultra-hot Crown Prince Arthur has always gotten by on his charm. But that won’t be enough now that the royal family is about to be ousted from power once and for all. When Prince Arthur has to rely on the one woman in the kingdom who hates him most, he must learn that earning the love of a nation means first risking his heart…
Can two natural enemies find their forever in each other’s arms, or will they ruin each other to save themselves?
Get your copy today and be part of the feel-good fairy tale!

Prince Arthur:
When we reach the vault room, there are two guards standing at the door. Normally there is just one, sitting on the inside; but for nights like tonight, there are a total of six. I nod, and one of them opens the door.
“Good evening, fellows,” I say.
“Good evening, Your Highness.”
Once inside the room, we go through the same routine with the other four men. I go to the keypad and press the code, then hold my face in front of the camera for a retina scan. When I look down at Tessa, she actually looks impressed.
“A little Bond-esque, no?” I ask.
“Very.”
“Come on, Moneypenny, let’s get you something for that beautiful neck of yours.” I tug her hand and pull her in with me before she can say no.
She’s already shaking her head, but I hold up one finger. “I can see those Sharpe family brains of yours going to work on ten different reasons why you won’t borrow a necklace, but I have already prepared counterarguments, and since we are now twelve minutes behind schedule, please allow me. One, they’re already paid for, some of them hundreds of years ago, so it’s not coming out of anyone’s taxes. Two, like the books in the library, they’re going to waste in here. Three, for the first time in my life, I want to share something with someone else—someone who deserves to feel like a queen, even if she’ll only allow herself that for one measly little evening. Four, I have this fantasy of seeing you in only the jewels. Maybe the heels could stay.”
Tessa laughs and her cheeks go pink. “All right. One necklace, but make it a cheap one.”
I raise one eyebrow. “Define cheap.”
“Less than a kitchen stool.”
“How about less than a car?”
“Sofa.”
“I said ‘queen.’ Would a queen really wear a sofa around her neck?” I reach up and run my fingertips along the base of her neck.
“Would she wear a car?”
“Good point.” I lean down and kiss the crook of her neck. “How about this? You choose whichever one you like the best, and I won’t tell you how much it’s worth.”
I continue to brush my lips along her skin, then move up to her earlobe. The other night, I discovered a little spot at the base of her ear that turns her to putty. After a moment of some careful work, I get what I want. A breathy, little ‘okay’ escapes her lips.

MJ Summers currently resides in Edmonton, Canada, with her husband, three young children, and their goofy dog. When she's not writing romance novels, she loves reading (obviously), snuggling up on the couch with her family for movie night (which would not be complete without lots of popcorn and milkshakes), and long walks in the woods near her house. MJ also spends a lot more time thinking about doing yoga than actually doing yoga, which is why most of her photos are taken ‘from above’. She also loves shutting down restaurants with her girlfriends. Well, not literally shutting them down, like calling the health inspector or something. More like just staying until they turn the lights off.
MJ is a member of the Romance Writers of America, as well as the International Women's Writing Guild.
MJ would love to hear from you! She does her best to respond to all inquiries and emails personally. If you would like her to attend a book club meeting via Skype please contact her to book a date.

*The Crown Jewels Series is a light romantic comedy, very heavy on the laughs with a low steam level (but lots of delicious sexual tension and some swearing). This is a HFN ending with the second and third books in the series featuring the same couple.

Book 3: The Royal Delivery (Late Fall 2017)
