(Immortal Dragons, #3)
Publication date: April 7th 2017
Genres: Adult, Paranormal, Romance

Nobody said finding your fated mates would mean an instant happily ever after. But for Aurum, an immortal gold dragon gifted with the power of psychic empathy, love has never been simple.

Night after night, she has endured prophetic dreams about her pair of lovers, but finding them brings her no respite—the beautiful satyr, Calder, abandons her upon their first meeting, forsaking love for revenge, while royal ursa Nicholas…

Well, he looks nothing like the dark-haired man Fate promised her. So why does she find him so irresistible?

As war between ancient allies darkens the horizon, Aurum realizes the long-lost prince may hold the key to solving both her and Calder’s problems, bringing together the fated mates for good—as long as he doesn’t get them all killed first.

Their Fated connection doesn’t make things easy. But for Aurum, Calder, and Nicholas, victory might just go hand in hand with surrender where matters of the heart are concerned.

EXCERPT:

“Almost finished,” Aurum said, dipping a spoon into a bowl, scooping out a huge dollop of creamy chocolate, and spreading it on top of a large, brick-shaped cake she’d just finished building, layering each tier with an assortment of fillings.

Nicholas swallowed a fresh mouthful of saliva to keep from drooling.

“I can’t wait.” He really couldn’t, and finally gave into the urge to interfere. The multitude of platters and trays that were now arranged around her counters, piled with delicious-looking confections, looked so good. He stood and wandered over to her, inspecting each item, wondering where she’d let him begin. He stopped behind her, peering over her shoulder into the bowl.

Her hands were streaked with the different substances she’d cooked with, and when his nose hovered near her neck, he smelled her familiar citrusy scent beneath all the other aromas that clung to her now.

“Only a few more minutes,” she said.

“I might need a bite of something to tide me over.” He dipped his head lower and inhaled, not even trying to disguise his hunger. His stomach rumbled just as he brushed his lips down the side of her neck, darting his tongue out for a taste.

Aurum twisted away from him, turning, but he gripped the edges of the counter, caging her in his arms and bending his head to chase her movement. Before he could reach her neck again, she shoved a spoon into his face.

“Here,” she said, laughing. “Have a bite of this, you hungry bear.”

She turned fully in his arms and he leaned back slightly, looking down at the proffered utensil, the sweet, chocolaty scent filling his nostrils. He opened his mouth and she inserted it, the flavor exploding on his tongue like an orgasm.

Nicholas growled low in his chest. Pleasure had never in his life originated from his mouth to such a degree, except for the moments when he had Calder’s cock between his lips, or just recently tasting his own juices mixed with Aurum’s between her thighs. But even then, the tangy taste of sex didn’t compare to the sensations of ecstasy he experienced now.

He sucked the spoon clean and opened his eyes. Aurum beamed at him, her cheeks flushed pink.

“You like?” she asked.

“Mmm,” he murmured, taking the spoon from her hand and dipping it into the bowl again over her shoulder. He scooped as much as the spoon could hold, bringing it to his mouth. On the way up, a dollop of the delicious concoction fell, landing with a little plop on the swell of Aurum’s breast.

“Hey, you’re making a mess, and spoiling your lunch. Save room for the meal before you fill up on dessert.”

The spoon was already in his mouth, being sucked clean for the second time when he saw her grab a cloth and move to wipe the fallen chocolate from her skin. He dropped the spoon into the bowl and grabbed her hand.

“Mine,” he said, swiftly bending to lick the chocolate off her breast. It had begun to run, a trail of it arcing over the curve toward her sternum. Aurum gasped when he darted out his tongue, trailing it over her bare skin and in between her breasts to make sure he caught every last drop. The chocolate tasted even better licked off her than it had coming straight from the bowl.

Hungry for more, he looked into the bowl, then down at her. Aurum was still smiling, but had a bewildered look of amazement on her face, her mouth open and the breath of a laugh escaping her.

“What are you thinking?”

“That I want to do a cooking experiment. See how good the rest of you tastes with chocolate.”

Death of a Cuckoo

DEATH OF A CUCKOO
BY WENDY PERCIVAL
Genre: Cosy Mystery
Series: An Esme Quentin Short Read

Release Date: 6 March 2017
Publisher: sBooks
A letter. A photograph. A devastating truth.

When Gina Vincent receives a letter of condolence from a stranger following her mother’s death, a photograph slipped inside reveals a disturbing truth – everything she’s ever known is based on a lie. Shocked and disorientated, she engages genealogy detective Esme Quentin to help search for answers.

The trail leads to an isolated and abandoned property on the edge of Exmoor, once the home of a strict Victorian institution called The House of Mercy and its enigmatic founder, whose influence seems to linger still in the fabric of the derelict building.

As they dig deeper, Esme realises that the house itself hides a dark and chilling secret, one which must be exposed to unravel the mystery behind Gina’s past.

But someone is intent on keeping the secret hidden. Whatever it takes.
EXTRACT
I ran down the steps and squeezed my way down the slim passage. In the recess was a narrow door but it didn’t match the faded, peeling paint of the remainder of the house’s decoration. It was brighter, as though it had been protected from the elements. As I stepped closer, I realised that’s exactly what had happened. Under my feet were pieces of broken planking. Until very recently, this doorway had been covered by a decorative panel and disguised. So who had uncovered it? It couldn’t have been there at the viewing.

My Review:
This was a very interesting story. I have been working on my family tree for over 15 years. So I was very interested i the way this story was written. I feel like a investigator myself at times. I also wish I could afford to hire a professional Genealogist for some of my brick walls. The story was very well written and it was true to life while searching for records.

The Story is about Gina Vincent. Her mother has recently passed away. While going through the sympathy cards and letters she runs across one from a old friend of her moms. This letter opens a huge can of worms. Gina never knew she was adopted. She decides she wants to know more, but has no idea where or how to start.

Gina hires Esme Quentin. Who is a genealogy detective. Esme and Gina work together to find the answers. While searching for the answers at times things turn dangerous for Gina.

This is a pretty short book. I enjoyed the story. The ending was a bit off putting to though. I wish it ad went a bit more into the aftermath instead of just leaving me handing. other then that it was good.

book blurb

Timing is everything.

Sumeera Robinson refuses to settle for less than she desires, even if what she craves is the sexy, smart, and charming Nicolas Jenkins-Moore. At her age, she wants marriage and a family, not the empty promises Nick offers. Yet, there is just something about the man that makes moving on nearly impossible.

As the new senior manager of Jenkins & Sons Construction, Nick’s five-year plan is on track with marriage and starting a family at the bottom of the list. Sumeera is as beautiful inside as she is on the outside, but not even she can entice him to abandon his carefully plotted road to success. That is until she walks away without looking back, leaving him yearning for her presence in his life.

Nick is determined to convince Sumeera that he wants the same things she wants. But will an unexpected development keep them from the life they desire? Or will fate bring them closer than they’ve ever been before?
excerpt

“It changes everything!” He leaped up. “And for the record, we didn’t agree that we didn’t want the same things. That was all you. Baby, I want what you want, but I have a plan…well had a plan.”

Nick rubbed his hand down his face folding his thick arms across his chest. His arms were one of her favorite parts of his body. Hell, who was she kidding? Physically, he was male perfection, stirring a lustful sensation inside her without even trying. Still taking in his upper body, she tapped her fingers against her thigh, fighting the urge to run her hands up his flat abs and over his rock-hard pecs. But gone were the days when she could take such liberties.

“I’ve made it clear that I’m crazy about you, Meera.” He paced in front of her, his hands shoved into the front pockets of his jeans. “I don’t know what else you want me to do to show you just how much. Maybe I should have explained myself better while we were dating, but there were certain areas of my life that I wanted to be better prepared for before considering marriage. My plan included being financially stable, having a home and ensuring that Jenkins & Sons is on course to expand. I never said I didn’t want to get married and have a family. I just said that I wasn’t ready…at the time.”

Wait.

Sumeera stood slowly. “What are you saying?”

Traffic was
scant on The Embarcadero.  Even going at
a light pace, it didn't take long to reach Fisherman's Wharf.  A stiff wind was blowing in off the Bay, and
the crowds of tourists had long since departed in favor of warmer
retreats.  Seagulls feasted on the scraps
of sourdough bread bowls sticky with clam chowder left in their wake.
A lone street
musician remained on the empty sidewalk.
He was seated on a small, rusty stool, a battered guitar perched on his
knees.  He sang in a haunting tenor, his
voice crisp and clear in the stillness.
The words of the song echoed off the surrounding buildings.
Someone to watch
over me...
Asher stopped.  "This song was written the year I was
born."
Grace didn't
answer.  Asher was about to look down
when her hand slipped into his.
Perhaps it was
the cold.  Perhaps he was still high from
the streetcar ride or the race down Market Street.  Either way, he clearly wasn't in his right
mind, because instead of pushing her away, he spun her around so she was
squarely in his arms.
Her eyes
widened.  "What...?"
"Dance with
me."  He couldn't believe
himself.  Asher took a deep breath.  "I mean, unless you don't—"
Grace coiled her
fingers through his, lifted her other hand and rested it on his shoulder.  She met his eyes.  Asher wasn't sure what she saw there.  A blush stole across her cheeks, but she
didn't look away.  "You'll have to
show me how."
Asher released
the breath.  He hadn't been aware he was
holding it.  Gently, he reached up and
adjusted her hand on his shoulder.  Then
he set his hand to her waist.  "It's
easy.  Just move with me."
He heard her
breath stutter, and her hand trembled a little in his.  For some inexplicable reason, that pleased
him.   He firmed his other hand against
her back, and started to move.  It was
nothing complicated, just a simple two-step he'd seen his parents do.  Asher closed his eyes.  For a moment, he could almost remember a time
when things had been normal.  A time when
he'd been happy.
A time when he'd
been human.
He jerked his
eyes open again.  His throat ached.  He swallowed ruthlessly, tried to lock down
the place inside him that felt poised to crack wide open.  He started to pull back.
Grace's fingers
tightened around his, and she rested her cheek against his chest.  Her hand slid from his shoulder and curled
around the back of his neck.
Asher wasn't
sure he remembered how to breathe.
"Grace," he whispered.
The emptiness inside him expanded.
"I can't..."
"It's
easy."  He felt her voice in every
fiber of his being.  "Just move with
me."
Asher stared
down at her.  The emptiness receded a
little.  The vise around his chest
loosened.  He closed his eyes again and
let Grace hold him, let the scent of patchouli leak into his senses and anchor
him firmly in the present moment.

They danced
until the song ended, and the street musician finally packed away his guitar.
